Ical is stuck on the following progress bar "upgrading ical calendars". How to fix?

While attempting to fix syncing this message appeared and has hung up ical indefinitely. I can force quite but cannot fix. Any suggestions?

jrObert,
The advice that was given for the OP was offered almost three years ago, and the OP was using OS X 10.6. You are most likely using a newer version of OS X. Try this updated list of instructions.
1. Disconnect your computer from your internet connection.
2. From the  Menu, select Force Quit...>Calendar.
3. Paste this text ~/Library into the Finder>Go>Go to Folder...window and select "Go." This will open the Users Library Folder.
4. Then open the Calendars Folder in that Library Folder, and move any any files with "Cache" listed in the name field to your Desktop.
5. Next open the Preferences Folder in the same Library Folder, and move the com.apple.iCal.plist file to the Desktop.
6. Log out/in or restart, and open Calendar.

  • My iPhone 4S is stuck on the connect to iTunes screen, anyone know how to fix it?

My iPhone 4S is stuck on the connect to iTunes screen, I tried to update it last night and something went wrong. I tried connecting it to iTunes but it won't connect to my phone, any ideas?

Here is what you can try,
Hold both the power and home buttons until the device powers off, may take 10sec. Let go of both as soon as screen goes black.
Open itunes on your computer and plug in your cable to the computer but NOT the phone.
Once itunes is open hold down the home button on phone and plug in cable and continue holding home button until you see the connect to iTunes logo on screen. iTunes will give a msg that a device has been detected in recovery mode. Now select restore and do not disconnect until you see your device in iTunes again.

  • HT4972 My ipod touch 5th generation is stuck on the apple logo bar that hasnt loaded how do i get it off ?

    i need help !

    - There is no 5G iPod touch. The current one is still the 4G iPod.
    - Try here:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't turn the iPod completely off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for at least an hour try again.
    - Time for an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • 10.7.5 update progress bar "upgrading iCal calendars"

I completed the 10.7.5 update on my MacBook Pro (2011) about ten minutes ago. Since then, after opening iCal, the progress bar "upgrading iCal calendars" has been sitting here. I do have a lot of historical calendar data, going back to 2003. Has anyone else had this problem? Will it finish if I let it go, or are my calendars already corrupt?
I'm worried because I've had bluetooth/external speaker audio issues, followed some directions, tried to boot into safe mode, and wasn't able to (left the machine for 3 hours, progress bar stuck at about 25%).
    thanks,
    Kim

After an hour, I tried to quit iCalendar. It was "application not responding," so I force quit, and got back in. In the title bar, it said it was updating, for maybe 45 seconds. Now it's fine and my historical data (stored locally) is there.
I upgraded another machine, and the Updating progress dialog box appeared for less than a minute and then was fine.
There's probably something underlying that's wrong with my main machine. Guess I'd better get on with cleaning up.

  • ITunes Store - Will not go beyond the dashed progress bar, will also freeze any outside Internet activity

Alright, I've read numerous discussions and have tried to find an answer and have come up with zilch. Here's what's happening:
I open iTunes, and it attempts to connect to the iTunes store (presumably to update the Cloud). When it does this, it remains on the dashed progress bar. While attempting to connect, it will also freeze any other Internet applications, specifically any pages open in my browser (Chrome). I'm not sure why this is, I haven't seen anything on that subject. However, if I click the (x) next to the progress bar to tell it to stop, it will do so and I can listen with ease. Now, I'd actually like to use the iTunes Store, but whenever I do, it never gets anywhere. I get the dashed progress bar, which on occassion will move on to the solid progress bar, but it will completely freeze from there. I have tried doing the winsock reset, looking for conflicting programs with LSP, reinstalling, updating, none work. After running the network connectivity diagnostics, iTunes determines that everything is good except that a secure link to the iTues store failed. This led me to believe that there was a firewall of sorts that was blocking it. After adding iTunes to the list of exceptions to Windows Firewall, the same results were thrown back at me. I do not have any other programs that would block it (that I know of).
Please help? I just want to buy an album all legal-like.

    Hi there,
So it's sounds like you've already tried a majority of the main troubleshooting steps, but I would still recommend taking a look at some of the published troubleshooting found in the articles below.

  • Music sound gets low while earphones are plugged in.  To fix it I have to slide the music progress bar.

When listening to music with any pair of headphones or earphones plugged in, all of a sudden the volume will get really low for no reason.  Example: say the volume is at 15.  All of a sudden the volume will drop to like a 4, but the volume slider is still positioned at 15.  To fix it, I have to open the music app or control panel, and slide the song progress bar around and then the volume returns to normal.
This is not an issue with the headphones.  I tried twisting and jiggling the jack and there were no changes.  Not even static.  The issue happens with the aux cable in my car as well.  It's also not an issue with the songs.  These are the same songs I was playing yesterday and they are all perfectly fine.
Right now this is happening on my iPhone 5s with the most recent iOS8 update.  I've also had the update for awhile and this has only started less than a day ago.

It sounds like dirt in the headphone jack. I would use a vacuum cleaner to "suck" out any dirt that might be in there. You might also want to look carefully and see if anything in lodged in there.

  • Has anyone seen the Search progress bar fail to update as the search is processed?

I recently upgraded from RH9 to RH10 (10.0.1.292). I applied all of the maintenance for RH10 listed on William van Weelden's site and generated WebHelp output. When viewing the output on the server through a browser, I occasionally see a delay in producing the search results list, but the Search progress bar never moves from Searching 0% while the search is executing and finally the search results list is displayed. Has anyone else experienced this?
P.S. This may be irrelevant to this issue, but I can use the same search arguments at different times throughout the day and get the same results list of 700+ topics in 2 seconds or in some cases two minutes. I have attributed the difference in elapsed time to server workload or network resources. Could it be problem with a script file?

I just saw a thread that described this problem, https://forums.adobe.com/message/4887676#4887676, but am surprised Adobe has not officially rolled out the fix. @PeterGrainge can you still provide the fix?

  • How to increase the system progress bar height?

    Hi
I just want to increase the height of windows system progress bar and it is not able to customize. It is having the option to adjust the width and not the height. For example the height of system progress bar used in labview installer is large compared to control which is in labview control palette.
I want the progress bar as in the below figure

    Hi Mike
    Thanks for your reply
I know that I can change height progress bar which is in modern palette. But if i customize it doesn't look like the system progress bar.
So what I have to do to make the progress bar similar to system progress bar which is in the image that I send you. If you have the customized control please send it to me.
    Thanks & Regards

  • What happened to the blue "progress bar"?

What happened to the blue "progress bar" which was in the URL area?

Mark ~ From Safari's View menu, choose +Zoom Text Only+ — once that's been set, subsequently clicking the +Text Size+ icons will not change the size of the graphics, making it less likely that the page view will "go off screen".

  • Feature Request - Bring back the show progress bar

Just in case Verizon is looking for suggestions here, can you please bring back the progress bar that was behind the start/end times in the guide? In the current guide, there is no quick graphical cue to represent how much time has progressed in the selected show. Yes, you can look at the start, end, and current times, but when browsing through shows that start/end at different times, it really slows browsing down.
I've uploaded two images to illustrate the issue.
The first image below is a screenshot of the v1.9 guide. The second image is a mock-up that shows the feature that I am talking about. Note the progress bar for the currently selected show in the guide that appears behind the start and end times ("7:35 AM - 9:30 AM" on the right side of the screen, in the middle).
This was available in the previous guide, but was omitted in 1.9. It is a very useful feature. Please bring it back.
(NOTE: The white progress bar at the top of the screen does NOT represent the progress through the show selected in the guide. It just shows the current time.)

I'm sorry, but I just do not see the benefit of the elapsed time thing you propose. What difference does it make to see some kind of indicator how far into the program you are? You can't change where you are, you are there, period.
But if you really, really want to know:
    1) Just look at the start time and end time shown in the current program in the middle, and look at the TOD shown at the top, and estimate where you are.
    - or -
    2) Hit the Info button once and see a bar that definitively shows how far in you are.
Could you please explain why you think having that feature is so useful? I just don't see it.
    Thanks.

when i click on a hyper-link, i get the following response: firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (blockedhttp) isn't associated with any program.
My question is: how do i get this hyper-link to open?

You have blocking software to change the url to prefix blocked to the url to get '''blockedhttp:''' to prevent you from opening the file. It might be the "Blocksite" extension, but I just typed in something I blocked into the location bar and I didn't see that happen. but that might not be the same as clicking on a link.

Maybe it's from the blocked sites list used by Firefox and other browsers maintained at google, or a parental controls application.

You have to delete the corrupt back-up so iTunes can at least back-up the current data on the iPhone and then restore it. Search these forums, there a several good posts on how to delete the corrupt back-up.
