ICal isn't seen by iSync or iTunes

I am unable to sync my calendars using iSync or iTunes.
If i check the box to select synchronization, it says that I need to open an app that supports OSX sync, and gives me the option of opening iCal. However, when I open Ical, I still am unable to check the box without repeating this cycle, though it never lets me check the box. Can anyone help?

Ian,
What are you trying to sync with? What box are you checking in what app?
You'll need to be more descriptive/detailed.

After the latest Itunes update, my IPOD Shuffle is no longer seen by PC or Itunes.  I cannot change or modifly playlists. Ipod still takes a charge.

If you have not since having this problem, be sure to restart your PC.  You should also do this to reset the shuffle

If that does not help, you can try shutting down the PC and disconnecting all USB devices, including any hub.  Start up with only a standard USB keyboard and mouse connected (if normally used).  Run iTunes and connect shuffle to a direct USB port.  See if there is any difference in connectivity.

  • Address book groups not updated in iSync and iTunes-iPod-info sync

Changes to address book groups are not reflected in iSync and iTunes. I.e. if I remove a group or add a group it is still the old list of groups that is listed in iSync and iTunes available for syncing with my phone or iPod. How do I get these list to be updated and reflect the present list in Address Book?

The suggested resolution essentially said "delete the address book and start over."
Ok, I can see how this will help but... a few questions:
    1. How to I re-load the address book with my 500+ contacts without loosing my groups and all the data? The suggestion in the other discussion doesn't give any guidance on this
    2. What caused the problem to begin with? In other words, how can I prevent it from happening again?
I discovered the syncing problem about the time I did the following three things:
    1. Upgraded to 10.5.2
    2. Upgraded my iPhone (and iTunes) to 1.1.4
    3. Installed Bento (possibly a red herring) -- but it DOES connect to address book

  • ICal isn't updating w Software Update

    Running OS 10.6.8, iCal 4.0.4
I happened to notice that the iCal icon in my dock said "iCal (original)", which isn't usual. Looked up latest version, then (although set to auto-check weekly) ran Software Update, but no updates identified. Then discovered iCal isn't listed as  "installed software in SU prefs (OS 10.6.8 update and supplemental update done late July).
Anybody have any idea what's going on or how to get iCal included in SU? Thanks for any tips.

    Susan,
Version 4.0.4 (1395.7) is the correct version for 10.6.8. iCal will not show up as a separate download through Software Update, so I am not sure why your installation says (original).
Try deleting/re-adding iCal from your dock.
If that is not successful, download and reinstall the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.

Why isn't the App Store and iTunes a choice for an app on my mini?

Either they've been moved to another home screen or dropped in a folder, in which case doing a search or resetting the Home Screen layout (Settings/General/Reset) should bring them up, or they've been turned off in General/Restrictions.
    Regards.

  • The device isn't supported by isync after download...

I have searched and couldn't find it, I'm using a N-95 8G. and I wanna synchronize it with my Mac using iSync. I have downloaded the plug-in, and isync still tells me " The device isn't supported by isync". I kept trying over and over, but still the same problem.
I'm running O/S 10.6 snow leopard and I have all the updates, I even downloaded isyncit, restarted my machine and my phone, but nothing is happening.
I remember I spent an aweful amount of time during this synchronizing thing with my previous version of O/S.
Today my phone died for most of the day and when it started, the date went back to 1/1/2007 and I ended up ordering the new iphone, so I can sync my contacts.
Is there something wrong with my phone or just the applications?

    Hi,
Firstly make sure you have the Isync version 3.1 for Snow leopard, if not then perform a software update and check.
    - Open Isync and then remove all the devices if listed there.
    - Go to isync Preferences and then click 'Reset Sync History"
    - Then go to ~\Library\Phones, Delete the phone entries present there. (Where ~ denotes the home folder)
    - Then go to \Library\Phone Plugins\Remove the N95 8GB plugin.
    - Clear the trash. ( Make sure all the files you are deleting is unwanted)
    - Restart Mac.
    - Connect via USB and select PC suite mode on the device. If you are making bluetooth connection, then follow the steps provided in the http://europe.nokia.com/support/product-support/isync/how-to.
    - Then launch Isync and then Add device.
Hopefully it should be added now.
    Cheers
    Sandy

  • My iPod isn't showing up in my iTunes?

My iPod has been discharged for a while because it wouldn't show up in my iTunes library. It said to keep it on the charger for about 30 minutes. After an hour I came to check on it and it still was not recognizing it. I went on Youtube and seen it has happened to other people. It's an iPod Photo and I'm trying to fix it for a friend.Do any of you know anything about that?

Sorry I can't help but the same thing is happening to me. I have a 60GB ipod photo which has sat basically unused for years because I can't seem to get it recognized. Today I tried the procedure to switch it to disk mode which was successful. I could access the data on it using my iMac.
But when I try to use it in iPod mode it seems to be permenantly stuck on "do not disconnect" and isn't recognized by itunes. It seems to appear in system profiler though.

  • ICal and Mail recognizes new groups, but iTunes doesn't.

I've gotten my new iPod touch 2 nights ago, and have had a problem with address book syncing. The first time, it worked great. After deleting and editing a lot of my contacts and groups and tried to sync it with my iPod Touch and .Mac Address Book, both still had the old contacts. I'm also using some custom labels, I've tried to reset iSync and .Mac Syncing, but that didn't work. I've also waited a whole day, but nothing changed. When I would open iTunes and go to the sync tab for my iPod touch, it would show the old groups, so I knew it wouldn't change. iCal and Mail Address Panels show the changes, but .Mac and iTunes doesn't. Also, after reseting iSync and .Mac, my .Mac address book has no addresses anymore and I can't sync it. Help!

Did you already try the troubleshooting here? iPod not appearing in iTunes

  • ICal & Address Book Sync Being Ignored by iTunes

    Ok here's a weird problem..
I was able to initially sync up my new iPhone with iCal and the Address book. After taking the phone out with me all day today and returning, iTunes is no longer syncing those items.
A quick check of the info tab reveals that iCal and Addressbook had their check marks set to off.. So I clicked them back on, clicked apply, and to my surprise iTunes unchecked them again!
Needless to say, nothing is getting synced.. Any thoughts?

I'm having this exact same problem. I heard about a fix where one launches iSync and twiddles with the preferences and I tried that last week and I did subsequently get them to sync but this week the problem is back.
Is there any official response from Apple on this?
