Ical keeps changing times, adding hours or days to events!

I keep finding events are changing from their original saved format across all my devices. For example I will create an event to start on May 3 at 9.00 and end on May 3 at 10.00 I will come back to it later and find it has a different start time (usually 2 hours earlier) or a different end date 24 hours later.
I thought it was me making mistakes, but it is happening far to often and my wife's entries will do the same.

Hello David,
This looks like you are entering your events with a different timezone setting then your system time.
Have you set your iCal to a timezone different from your computer's timezone ( look at the top right of the iCal window)? And what timezones are your mobile devices set to? e.g. on your iPad under Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Calendars > Time Zone Support ? Try to set all devices to the same timezone (if they are in the same timezone).

  • Ical keeps changing times!!!

I input an event and go back a few days later and the event times have been changed.
Eg) 9:30 to 5 becomes 9:30 to 10:30 (or other random end time).
This happens almost every week as i input my work schedule a week at a time. It sometimes differs from day to day so each event is a stand alone input.
To top it off, I checked today and all the times I had inputted 2 weeks ago for last week's work sched had ALL been changed to the EXACT same end time...not the original one. Thank gawd I kept the original schedule on pdf.
I sync the iPhone G3 S through Mobile Me. Had same issue with iCal when syncing with G3.
Any feedback would be great as this is driving me to go back to Google.

Did you ever get this fixed? My wife has just hit this and I'm looking for a solution.
My guesses at this point are to repair file permissions or maybe trash the preferences as these are common ways to fix a lot of things.

how do I change ical out of the 24 hour clock so my events say 2:00PM insetad of 14:00

    melodyfred,
Quit iCal, go to System Preferences...>Language & Text>Formats>Region: and set/reset the appropriate region.
Log out/in or restart and iCal should display the a.m./p.m. format.

  • TS2784 I have set my iphone5 time settings to automatic New York time. Throughout the day the clock keeps changing times on its own by hours. Sometimes in is correct. Sometimes it is wrong.

I have set my iphone5 time settings to automatic at New York time. Throughout the day the date and time on the phone keeps changing on its own and often by a few hours. Sometimes it goes to the correct time. Sometimes it is way out. Is there something wrong with my settings?

This is a known issue with the iPhone 5. Turn off the automatic time setting for the time being. It will most likely be corrected in an upcoming update to iOS if the tech press is to be believed.

  • Time keeps changing back two hours!

Ipod touch 4th gen. The time zone is set to Monterey (Tennessee). They have the same time as we do in Crossville. My Ipod keeps changing the time back two hours for some reason. So right now, its 9:26. My ipod says it's 7:26. I can change it back manually, but it just changes back. I didnt have this problem before i had to restore it from the update freeze. Is there another Monterey in the U.S.A. or is it just the ipod?
My computer (Toshiba Windows 7) does it too, but i dont remember if it did it before my ipod froze.
    Please help!

I didnt think it was obvious. Everyone I asked always told me it was a different time zone. Well whatever, thanks.

  • Why does iCal keep changing to colour of one of my calendars?

For some reason, every time I open my iCal the colour of my "work" calendar is changed from Green to pink(one of the create your own colours). I keep changing it back to green and it keeps going back to pink. I am incredibly frustrated.
    Any suggestions?

    Okay,
Kind of got a fix for this or at least it seems to have worked for me. *Knock on Wood*. It will take some time and patience.
I right clicked on my "Work" calendar and exported it to the desktop. Then imported it as a new calendar under a different name "0 - Work". (It may import it as "Work 2")
Now you have your original "Work" calendar, in the annoying pink colour, and a new "0 - Work" calendar.
Change the colour of this new calendar to whatever you like. Delete the original "Work" calendar and then wait about 10 minutes. This seems to allow the iCloud and whatever else to finish its "Updating".
Then rename "0 - Work" to just "Work". Again wait about 10 minutes. It's best not to sit there and watch as the updating processes will sometimes change it back to pink or bring back the original "Work" calendar before finally settling on your new changes.
In the end, or at least for me, things are back to normal. I have left it open for about a half hour, turned it on and off and no pink has reemerged.
    Good luck!

  • IMac keeps changing identity adding a number (x) behind byname-iMac

My iMac's computer name keeps changing automatically after
    Yosemite upgrade
This started happening once I upgraded my iMac to Yosemite. It will add numbers to the name of my
    iMac.
Example: It starts off as say "My iMac"
Then a half day later, it changes to "My iMac (2)"
Then the next day it will be "My iMac (3)"
And if I open the Finder window, it will show "My iMac" and "My iMac (2)" under "Shared" but if you click
    on them, nothing happens.
When I go to System Preferences > Sharing the computer name will have the number there "My iMac (3)"
and say it can be found as MyiMac-3.local
If I change it back to just "My iMac", the number process starts all over again. I even tried naming the
iMac something it was never named before and the same process occurs with the adding of the numbers.
Anyone know how I can fix this?

This is a problem with Yosemite. Turning off all devices connected to your router, then rebooting the router by powering it off for a minute might correct the problem.

  • Calendar keeps changing time

Not sure if its since the clocks went back in the UK bur ever time I add an appointment to my calendar within seconds the time changes by an hour e.g. I put in for 9.00 and now shows as 8.00 I have changed and saved by still reverts to 8.00

    Hi @suedh20 ,
On a PC, log in to https://account.live.com/SummaryPage.aspx with the same credentials as used on the phone, and edit the information to match where you are. Save and exit.
On the phone, Menu -> Settings - check again for correctly set date+time and region.
On the phone, Menu -> Settings -> email+accounts - long press the Microsoft account and select sync.
Double check future appointments for the correct time and try entering a new appointment, to verify it works correctly?

  • Enterprise Global - working time v hours per day

Hi, can someone remind me whether I can set Hours per day and default start/finish times within the enterprise global template or is that a configuration that must be made inidividually by each user with project professional installed?
    Thanks
    Steve

    Hi Steve,
It has to be set for each user with Project Pro installed.
That being said, you can configure GPO (Group Policy Management) to set automatically those options for all users.

  • Clock time keeps changing by 12 hours

I have a 3rd Gen Touch that was my husband's before he got an iPhone. One day I noticed the calendar was showing the wrong day. On closer inspection, the problem was that the time was off by 12 hours. Instead of Wednesday 9 am it said Tuesday 9 pm. I went into Settings to fix it, making sure I had the AM/PM correct. Several days later I noticed it was off again.
Five days ago I corrected it again. Today, it is again off by 12 hours, telling me it is 4 am rather than 4 pm. This makes it pretty useless as an alarm! Any idea what's going on and how to fix it?

First, go to Settings > General > Date & Time and make sure you selected a time zone that is the same as the one you live in. Set the correct date and time.
Next, go the the date and time settings on your computer and make sure the correct time zone is selected and the clock is set properly. Sync your touch and make sure the times match.

  • Change Time Machine "hourly" backup to "daily"?

hourly backups are major overkill. daily or even 3x weekly would be great.
any way to change the frequency? or simply turn it off until you want to let it run?

Also keep in mind that at the end of the day, the 24 hourly backups are consolidated into a single daily backup. Similarly, after a week the daily backups are replaced with a single end of the week backup. After a month, the weekly backups are replaced with a single end of the month backup. So at any given time, you will have a series of monthly backups, perhaps some weekly ones, some daily ones, and some hourly ones. You don't end up with a zillion hourly ones in the end.

  • Clock keeps changing back 4 hours..why?

it is set to Boston, USA time zone but every two days or so it reverts back 4 hours. Is there something I am missing?

I too am having the same problem.
Even if I manually set the time instead of using the time servers the time decreases by 4 hours.

  • My iphone 5s keeps changing time on its own and keeps disconnecting from the wifi and cellular data. All other devices are connected and working. Is it a virus?

What can i do to fix it? My husband suggests I reset my phone but I'm afraid my data will be wiped off an that would be of total waste if the problem doesn't even get solved. Your help would be much appreciated!

There is no known malware capable of infecting an iPhone that has not been jailbroken (ie, hacked to allow apps from outside the App Store). If you have jailbroken it, you have exposed yourself to malware, and should restore the phone to factory defaults, without restoring a backup. All data will be lost, but that is unavoidable.
Most likely, you haven't jailbroken it, in which case you don't have to worry about malware. In that case, it's hard to say what's going on, but there are some things you can try.
First, try resetting your device. Press and hold both the home button and the sleep/wake button for about 10 seconds, until the screen turns off. Ignore the slider that will appear. Release the buttons, then press and hold the sleep/wake button until the Apple logo appears. This is the equivalent of a reboot, and should not affect your data or apps.
If that doesn't help, try restoring your device from backups, and if that doesn't help, restore it to factory settings (ie, do not restore a backup). See:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414
If none of that helps, the issue is caused by some kind of hardware problem, and the device will need to be repaired or (more likely) replaced.
