Ical keeps reverting all appointments to UTC time

I am in Japan.
Have my calendar set to Japan Standard time.
Also in system prefs, set for Japan.
All of a sudden, starting a few days ago...
I make an appointment, the entry box for details of the appt. shows Japan Standard time, but then when I save the appointment it reverts to UTC!!
I am running 10.8.3
Any suggestions?
Charlie

Have youy tried truning on then off Time Zone support?
In iCal v4.0.4 under OSX.6.8 that can be found under iCal > Preferences > Advanced
You could also try quitting iCal, moving your plist file ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iCal.plist to the Desktop and then reopening iCal.  This will force iCal to create a brand new clean com.apple.iCal.plist file.
If the problem has gone away then it lay within a your probably corrupted plist file so you can move the file from the Desktop to Trash - but you will have to recreate your other iCal user preferences via iCal's Preference panel.
If, however, the problem remians then it isn't your plist that is at fault so you can return the com.apple.iCal.plist file back from the Desktop into ~/Libray/Preferences and overwriting the new version which will be there.
Other than that, I'm stumped!

  • Why does Calendar keep reverting from full screen each time I exit the app?

    I'm using a 2014 Macbook Air. It's running Yosemite.
Why does Calendar keep reverting from full screen each time I exit the app?
On my older Macbook at work, calendar stays full screen whether I exit the app or restart the computer (similar to Mail - which is staying in full screen on both computers).
Please help me adjust settings so I don't have to keep putting Calendar into full screen.
    Thanks!

HI Thanks so much! It fixed porblem (for the moment) by reinstalling PS6 and NOT installing the 13.03 update which, although said it was performance related, probaly had  that trial messge embeded in it. So just DON"T install update 13.03 till adobe gets it's sea legs and stops puking up this message over and over. aloha, U

  • Why does iCal keep reverting my calendar colors?

I've had the same colors for my various calendars for years and suddenly, iCal has changed my colors and each time I reset them, it changes them back again.  This is across all my devices.....   Very annoying.

    Okay,
Kind of got a fix for this or at least it seems to have worked for me. *Knock on Wood*. It will take some time and patience.
I right clicked on my "Work" calendar and exported it to the desktop. Then imported it as a new calendar under a different name "0 - Work". (It may import it as "Work 2")
Now you have your original "Work" calendar, in the annoying pink colour, and a new "0 - Work" calendar.
Change the colour of this new calendar to whatever you like. Delete the original "Work" calendar and then wait about 10 minutes. This seems to allow the iCloud and whatever else to finish its "Updating".
Then rename "0 - Work" to just "Work". Again wait about 10 minutes. It's best not to sit there and watch as the updating processes will sometimes change it back to pink or bring back the original "Work" calendar before finally settling on your new changes.
In the end, or at least for me, things are back to normal. I have left it open for about a half hour, turned it on and off and no pink has reemerged.
    Good luck!

  • ICal keeps moving all my entries down

I'm using iCal 6.0 on a MacBook Pro, OS X 10.8.5, and repeatedly running into this problem where all my entries will move down slowly, as in they all move to later and later times.  I'm not sure what and when the incremental moves take place, I've caught it twice now when I needed to look back at past weeks and found them all moved again.
It's a major pain to readjust them to their oringinally entered times every time and I need them to stay put for archival purposes, but if I have to continually go back and readjust them all the time, I don't think I can rely on iCal at all.
Anyone have this problem?  When searching for it I didn't find any similar entries.  Any ideas?  Thanks

If you have the cable for both phones, you can use the Nokia Ovi Suite. This would save more time and effort and you can also have the copy saved in your Ovi Suite. All you have to do is to synchronize the contacts of your N73 to the Ovi Suite, then after that, synchronize it to the 2330Classic.

  • Ical has deleted all of my work events

***?! it didn't delete any events except for my work ones. any way to retrieve this without having a backup? how could this even happen?

Completely by serendipity I just fixed this!
I was perplexed as to why all my events showed in iCal on my computer, but only some events would show in iCal on my iphone.
All day events were not showing, appointments weren't showing and neither was work, but social events were, no matter how many times i tried to sync my iphone with my MacBook Pro. Hmmm strange.
So I only just figured it out accidentally when on iCal on my iphone that if i click the 'calendars' tab in the top left hand corner, it takes me to a list of all my created calendars (and their colours) that I have in iCal.
If you tap on a certain calendar it will display only those events. Eg. I tapped on my calendar 'appointments >', and iCal only displayed all of my appointment times on my iphone and not the other events.
If I tap on 'work >', it displays all work events. Etc.
    Is this making sense??
    NOW:
If you go back to the 'calendars' tab on iCal on the iphone and tap on 'All >'...
    then
Hooray!!! All your events will be displayed.
    Hopefully! :P
    Hope this helps!!

My APPLE ID is NOT working properly. I am frustrated beyond belief I have tried time and time again to change my apple ID and it keeps reverting back to my original ID!! I even set up a new email to try to submit a new id and it still does not work

To change your Apple ID, follow these steps:
Go to My Apple ID (appleid.apple.com), click "Manage your Apple ID", and sign in.
If you have two-step verification turned on, you'll be asked to send a verification code to the trusted device associated with your Apple ID. If you are unable to receive messages at your trusted device, follow the guidelines for what to do if you can't sign in with two-step verification.
In the "Apple ID and Primary Email Address section," click Edit.
Enter the email address you want to use, then  click Save Changes. Apple will send a verification email to that  address.
Open the  email  from Apple, then click Verify Now in the email.
When the My Apple ID page opens, sign in with your renamed Apple ID.
If you have two-step verification turned on, you'll be asked to send a verification code to the trusted device associated with your Apple ID.
After you see a message indicating that verification is complete, remember to update all of the stores and services that you use with your  Apple ID.

  • Ical automatically opens all the time

My ical recently crashed and all information was lost, Luckily I have everything backed up. Anyway I have decided not to use ical anymore as it is not syncing with my blackberry either. The problem is that it keeps opening not matter how many times I quit it. Can anyone please help?

    Greetings,
It sounds like you have alarms set. Before it crashed did you have some alarms set? You might want to look for all the iCal files, and delete them. Or see if you can find why it's not syncing with your blackberry and fix that.

  • I want to search Time Machine for an appointment that has been deleted from my current view of iCal.  Can I "restore" a previous version of iCal without losing all the entries I've made to the calendar since that prior date?

I want to search Time Machine for an appointment that has been deleted from my current view of iCal.  Can I "restore" a previous version of iCal without losing all the entries I've made to the calendar since that prior date?

No. I tried it on my Time Machine (I had just made one change today, so I knew I would not be left in the lurch if I failed) and when I clicked on restore I got this message:
It seems you have several options.  I chose 'Keep Both'.  I suggest that you proceed with your search.
    Ciao.

Plug the device into a wall outlet and leave it for about 20 minutes. If it has not powered on at that point try a reset by pressing and holding the home and power buttons for about 15 seconds until the white Apple logo appears.

  • How can I get an album to play in order on Itunes?  The songs keep skipping all around to other albums that I did not want to listen to at that time?

How can I get an album to play in order on Itunes?  The songs keep skipping all around to other albums that I did not want to listen to at that time?

It sounds like you might have the shuffle button at the bottom left of the iTunes (the button with the squiggly lines).
If that's not the case, then maybe you just need to sort your library by album by clicking the album tab at the top.
Is your music in a playlist, or are you trying to play it from the entire library?

That has not worked. I do it and still it reverts. Isn't there a way to tell Firefox to just go back to default settings?
