ICal Leopard: overlapping events block each other?

Hi there
If I create 2 different events for the same time and date, the event boxes block each other - they don't resize to allow me to see both events.
Is this a bug?

Hi,
I expect this is because the UID for the events are the same. Outlook ignores the UID, but iCal does not and would only allow one event with the UID.
You could verify this by opening the .ics files in a text editor.
Best wishes

  • Two sessions are blocked each other in

    Hi All,
My database is Exadata machine. 11.2
These days we encountered one case, that is two sessions are always blocked by each other. I get this info from v$session blocking_session.
For examle, the information looks like
    sid blocking_session event
    1 2 libarary cache lock
    2 1 row cache lock
and as you know there are many other sessions are blocked by sid 1.
By lookiing up v$sql, I got the sql for these 2 sessions.
/* QSMQ VALIDATION */ ALTER SUMMARY "XXXXX"."Gxxx_CP_CAL_TIME_TEMP_MV" COMPILE
/* QSMQ VALIDATION */ ALTER SUMMARY "XXXXX"."Gxxx_CP_CAL_TIME_MV" COMPILE
Both of these 2 MV share some underlying objects. And both of the 2 sessions started at the same time roughly.
If the compilation incurs the lock on the object, why the 2 sessions block each other?
Can someone give me some tips, please?
    Best regards,
    Leon

    Leon,
    sid blocking_session event
    1 2 libarary cache lock
2 1 row cache lockYou are saying that above situation does not cause a deadlock error to be generated in either one of those two sessions?
/* QSMQ VALIDATION */ ALTER SUMMARY "XXXXX"."Gxxx_CP_CAL_TIME_TEMP_MV" COMPILE
/* QSMQ VALIDATION */ ALTER SUMMARY "XXXXX"."Gxxx_CP_CAL_TIME_MV" COMPILEThese to me look like programmed 'ALTER SUMMARY' commands (the comment in front of the statement seems to indicate so). It's the application that's doing this right?
    - Can you reproduce this with two sqlplus sessions?
    - Why is the application compiling the MV's? Are underlying objects being altered frequently?
    - Should the application not just be 'refreshing' the MV's instead of compiling them?
    Just some thoughts.
    Toon
    Edit:
Dom's right. The alter summary statements seem to be Oracle internal calls generated by DBMS_MVIEW.REFRESH executions.

  • [FPGA] Loop rate very slow: Do FPGA I/O nodes in parallel loops block each other?

    Hi,
    I am using cRIO-9075. Mod1 is NI 9263, Mod2 is NI 9227, Mod3 is 9215.
Please see my VI attached or the given screenshot.
The FPGA code is based on the "NI CompactRIO Waveform Reference Library" (it's the lower loop).
The upper loop was added by me and is writing a waveform from blockmemory to the NI 9263 module (Mod 1).
The data sampled in the lower loop is running at 1 kHz. The control "AO Update Period" for the upper loop has a value of (for example) 10 (=uS).
The problem is, that this loop is running much much slower than it should. Once I disable the FPGA I/O node in the lower loop (as done in the attachments), it's running as fast as it should.
It seems to me, that the FPGA I/O nodes are blocking each other. I tried to figure it out by reading through serveral NI documents, but until now I have no idea how to solve that.
Can you give me some advices? Some general tipps about the VI?
    Thanks!

    Hi, thanks so far.
Originally the control was inside the loop. Then I tried if it makes a difference if it's outside.
Ok, i really seems to be that default value of "100000" for "AO Update Period".
Starting the VI directly woks like expected. Having "AO Update period" inside the loop makes it possible to control it as it's running.
But, please see the attachment. When starting the FPGA through RT and setting the appropiate value, it does not seem to work. The oscilloscope show's the same behavior like "AO Update Period" was 100000.
But when reading the value of "AO Update Period" afterwards (while the FPGA is running), it shows the expected value of "10".
Having changed the default value to 10 works so far, but I am not able to changed it (see attachment).
So the problem is: Why is "Read/Write control" not working here? Why is still the default value used?

  • Windows 7 computer, and my macbook pro on snow leopard don't see each other?

My windows 7 computer, and my macbook pro on snow leopard don't see each other. I have configured the windows section under the network prefrences with the required information, and still no luck. Does anyone have any sugestions for me?

Shouldn't they see each other and let me use each of their files?
Please pardon the obvious here, but have you checked to make sure that you have enabled the File Sharing option on both computers? You may have already done this, but your post did not mention this, so we can only go with the info that we have.
If you have not enabled File Sharing, I can't help on Windows, but on your Mac...
Open System Preferences (gear icon on the dock)
    Open Sharing
Enter a check mark next to File Sharing
I imagine that there is a similar setting for the Windows machine
It would be a good idea to power cycle your entire network as well to make sure that the network is sequenced correctly. Power everything down, order is not important.
Start your modem first and let it run a moment by itself
Then start your main router the same way
Continue starting each device the same way until everything is powered back up

  • IPod as a conduit to sync iCal and Outlook 2003 with each other?

I am able to synchronize my work Outlook 2003 calendar and home Mac iCal with the iPod in two separate files on the iPod. I can see them both if I select "All". My questions are:
    1. What should I do to sync the PC and the Mac with the same file on the iPod?
    2. Is it possible to snychronize the iCal and Outlook with each other via the iPod?
    Thanks,
    Iris
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.5)   PC/XP Pro

If you mount your iPod on your Mac, navgate to the iPod Calendars folder and double-click on an ics file it will import the calendar into iCal. So you can sync from the PC to the iPod to iCal uni-directionally. If Outlook 2003 can import an ics file then you should be able to sync the other way as well. However, in both cases you will essentially be copying over one calendar with another, not really synchronizing.

  • ICal Visually Overlapping Events on Month View

When I move from month to month (specifically from March to either February or April), I am having events from both months show up in the date boxes, one top of one another. I close iCal, and the screen is ok until I try to move from month to month again. Thanks for your help!

    Greetings,
Thats sounds like a caching issue.
    1. First make an iCal backup:  Click on each calendar on the left hand side of iCal one at a time highlighting it's name and then going to File > Export and saving the resulting calendar file to a logical location for safekeeping.
    2. Go to iCal > Quit iCal
    3. Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
    Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.ical
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache if present)
    4. Launch iCal and test.
    If the issue persists:
    1. Go to iCal > Quit iCal
    2. Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
    Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.ical
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache if present)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
--- NOTE: Removing these files may remove any shared (CalDAV) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.
    3. Launch iCal and test.
    Hope that helps!

  • Multiple buttons blocking each other out on interactive document

Hi I'm looking for some help with what may be a simple problem that I just can't figure out.
I have a one page indesign cs5 document which has about 10 text frames on ten different layers all converted to buttons.  I have set up a menu using show and hide buttons, hid the buttons until triggered, and all of this works fine but the problem is that some of the text boxes block out the others when I export it to an interactive pdf.  I orginally had all of these boxes on the same layer and when I encountered the problem I created a new layer for each new text box but the problem still exists.
The odd thing is that I have some pictures on different layers but in the same location on the page and they show up fine.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Andrew

I found the same problem, looking for a solution I found un unswer here:
    http://indesignsecrets.com/stacking-order-bug-exporting-interactive-pdf.php
In few words : "It turns out that there is a bug in InDesign that affects the stacking order in interactive PDFs. The stacking order is determined by the order in which the buttons are created. Buttons created first go at the bottom of the stacking order in the PDF. I compare it to a stack of paper: a sheet of paper put down first goes at the bottom of the pile. Then, each subsequent piece is stacked on top of it.
So the moral of the story is that if your stacking order is incorrect in an interactive PDF, remake your buttons, in the order opposite of how they should appear in the final PDF."
    Have fun !
P.S. here you have a disscution on that: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5340443#5340443

I would really appreciate help with this issue, I've looked through all compilation flags for db and dbxml, and all runtime configuration parameters, and I can not figure out why this is not working. Thank you!

}For the purpose of brevity I omitted the main method, but it merely runs two parallel threads -- one inserting a collection of different XML documents, the other -- querying. Each thread runs a semi-tight loop with a 10 millisecond sleep after each iteration. The documents being inserted are all fairly similar, and well-formed. Here is what happens: if I do not set a maximum transaction timeout, every SINGLE concurrent pair of inserts/queries results in a deadlock, that is only broken when the deadlock detector thread runs every five seconds. Our application does require massive inserts/quieries run in parallel sometimes. If I do set a maximum transaction timeout that expires before the deadlock detector thread runs, I get the following exception:
    com.sleepycat.dbxml.XmlException: Error: DB_LOCK_NOTGRANTED: Lock not granted, errcode = DATABASE_ERROR

at TestEnvironment$3.run(TestEnvironment.java:327)which does not seem to be a deadlock.
Now I understand that deadlocks are a fact of life, but I thought they were statistically rare, and in this scenario every single insert/query pair results in a deadlock. The same code works without any deadlocks in the Berkeley DB XML 2.3/Berkeley DB 4.5 combination
Could there be a patch or a bugfix that I missed? This seems very very suspicious. I also tried the same code on both Linux and Windows with the same result
    Thank you,
    Alexander.

  • 2 netweaver and b2b shops block each other.

    hi,
We have a CRM4 Environment in our company and want to change from 32-bit Windows 2000 to 64-bit Windows 2003. So we set up a new server and installed netweaver, trex and deployed our b2b shop.
The Windows 2000 Server runs productive. After deploying the b2b shop neither the old not the new b2b shop worked. I just got a white screen in the browser after accepting the ssl connection in both shops.
So i stopped the new J2EE Server (which is Netweaver 640) and the old one ran perfectly.
Both servers are connected to the CRM system.
I checked the default traced from both servers and this is what i got:
    Old Server (Windows 2000):

So there are many lines that say about cluster problems. This isn´t a cluster and is not configurated as cluster. I don´t even know if this log entrys refer to the current problems we had.
Where could the problem be? We did the same procedure with our Consolidation environment and it was no problem to run two b2b shops simultaneously. The imsdefault connection is set to the productive b2b shop. So i don´t understand why the one b2b shop takes down another b2b shop. They refer to the same IPC server and the same TREX.
Hope someone can help me with this exceptional problem.

There are more log entrys in the deafult server log:

  • Why do multiple laptop connections block each others' connectivity?

    HP 6000 Plus, XP
I set up my personal laptop and my work laptop to print to my HP 8600 printer. 1) If I print from my personal laptop, it disconnects (albeit temporarily) the VPN connection on my work laptop. 2) If I connect my work laptop to my company VPN, then I can longer print from my personal laptop. Why do these two situations occur?

    Hello ratfink80,
These applications may be running when you shut down or restart the system. You can use Activity Monitor to determine if they are, and also quit or force quit them as necessary before shutting down or restarting.

  • Blocking process each other but not killing..

    Hello,
I have situation where 2 SPID's 82 and 112 blocking each other but deadlock monitor is not killing one of them. 82 is trying to get the shared lock on few pages of an object and got the shared lock on 1 page where as waiting on other. mean while Spid 112
got the exclusive lock on the page where 82 is waiting for and trying to convert the lock on other page where 82 already has a lock.
This is perfect dead lock situation but SQL Server is not detecting it as dead lock so not killing one of the process.
This is on SQl Server 2008 R2 SP2 , can you please tell me why is this not being resolved by SQL Server?

I have the sp_locks for both the process here and filtered for the object which is causing it... hope this will help to see this clearly.

  • ICal randomly duplicating events

iCal randomly duplicated events (sometimes twice, other 3 times) after the last sync of my iPhone. I've had, & continue to have this problem with repeating holidays which were transfered from my Palm but now I've got countless duplicate "normal" events over at least the last 6 months. In the past iCal has duped events & simultaneously change the dupe's time slightly but this time they are direct copies. I just finished correcting them manually. For future problems is there any way to automatically remove duplicates? More importantly, is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening?

    Hi John,
Thanks for the information, sorry for the delay in my response -went out of town for a few days. iCal Dupe Deleter sounds seems to be just what the doctor ordered to remedy this situation next time it occurs.
As to my second question, do you, or anyone out there know why this happens or how to avoid it in the future?

  • HOW CAN INVITE PEOPLE IN A GROU EVENT ON ICAL WITHOUT THEM SEE EACH OTHER EMAIL ADDRESS

HOW CAN INVITE PEOPLE IN A GROU EVENT ON ICAL WITHOUT THEM SEE EACH OTHER EMAIL ADDRESS ?

Hi, I never use any of these, but according to this it uses eMal, so I'd think moving the adressees to the BCC: field should do it.
Not the To: or CC: feild.

  • Lion iCal: event hides behind others when overlap

    hey guys,
i just upgraded to lion (perhaps a downgrade actually...), and i'm having some issues with ical already. here's the first:
in previous OS's, if i had overlapping events, i could bring one forward in front of the others by simply clicking on it. in lion, clicking on a background event selects it, but doesn't bring it forward. that makes it really hard to read what it is sometimes, as in the attached examples.
    any workaround?
stay tuned for another issue posted about the new "default calendar" option...

The answer, for now, is here: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1198317
Use Terminal.app to turn on the iCal Debug Menu -
    defaults write com.apple.iCal IncludeDebugMenu 1
Then in iCal go to the debug menu > Top Sekret (sic) > Uncheck "use iPad style event layout."
It is the default setting for iPad users, turned on for some @#^$& reason for even us MacBook users. And then buried in a menu only reachable by getting your fingers dirty.
    Worked for me!

  • ICal Lion makes it very hard to read overlapping events

iCal Lion makes it very hard to read overlapping events: often one can only easily read one of them. How can we get the interface in iCal for Snow Leopard and before when they were placed size by size rather than on top, and thus obliterated.

Use Terminal.app to turn on the iCal Debug Menu -
    defaults write com.apple.iCal IncludeDebugMenu 1
Then in iCal go to the debug menu > Top Sekret (sic) > Uncheck "use iPad style event layout."
