Ical LION sends cancel event - MAJOR BUG

My default calender is set to my Office Exchange Server in Ical
Cal invite arrives via email and automatically sent to my exchange email address (they are using google cal)
     My Ical adds to my "home" calendar (bug 1 since I set the default calendar to my office)
     I Open the event and change cal to Exchange server and click ACCEPT
     Ical sends weird result to sender of the invite saying THEY canceled the meeting
     It either crashes my Ical or leaves it sent in the correct cal but never sends the ACCEPT only the cancel.
NOT GOOD ENOUGH APPLE.

I just created a test invitation and sent it from another account (not part of iCal) to myself.  It was sent from a Hotmail account and showed up as an .ics-attachment to an email.  Even after several minutes this event was not picked up by iCal, thus I clicked on the attachment and it opened in iCal. There I clicked on the "Get Info" and it shows the invitation assigned to my MobileMe calendar (not the default), but it also shows the invitees as active fields (i.e., I can change them) and it does not show the organizer at all.  In other words, it makes the event appear as if it originated from my iCal and I was the organizer.
In my test case, moving the invite to a different calendar (either through the Calendar sub-menu or the Get-Info panel) caused a message pop-up titled "The event will be moved from the calendar on your Mac to the calendar on your “Exchange” account."  --Note: in my earlier post, I did not get this pop-up.  Thus I am concluding that I am not yet completely recreating the same conditions.
Unless the action is canceled, an email gets sent out cancelling the original event for all participants.
I will work on recreating the exact event.

  • Mountain lion calendar smart event adding bug for 24h clock

    I have checked it with Polish locale settings but problem should be everywhere when 24h clock is selected:
    When adding event "alarm jutro o 5:00" (means: alarm tomorrow at 5:00) - Calendar app is adding alarm at 17:00 not 5:00. Seems to be bug.

    Under System Preferences > Date & Time, click the "Clock" tab near the top and check "Use a 24-hour clock".

    iCal Lion is infuriating. How can I add a new event in a chosen calendar without having to create it in my default then edit it?

    We are all entitled to our own opinions. So I respect you there brother
    But then again, Apple has its own basis. iOS is what's selling like pancakes not Macs, so if the gazillions out there are using iOS device and have gotten used to the calendar in their iOS devices. Wouldn't you think it made sense if Lion has the same calendar look and feel?
    Everything was considered and weighthed when they developed Lion. They even mentioned it in the press, They were blown away with the success of iOS so they are extending it to OSX.
    Quite frankly, I like the old iCal but yeah I don't expect anything in SL to stay in Lion otherwise it'll be another Cat name related to Leopard
    People should start looking at this perspective and not get STUCK in the old OS.

  • ICal not sending to iCloud after Lion update.

    Just upgraded iMac to Lion 10.7.3 and now iCal not sending new appointments or reminders to iCloud. However in the opposite direction, if I create on iOS on iPhone/iPad then these are sent on to iCloud and then pushed down to iCal fine.
    Turning iCloud on and off on iMac does not seem to help. Also manual refresh (Calendar > Refresh All) or turning off Push in preferences does not help. Email also sends fine...
    Any ideas/similar?

    Hi,
    Try quiting iCal and deleting the calendar cache.
    Choose Home from the Finder's Go menu.
    Open the Library folder. (If you are using OS X Lion, you will need to hold the Option key while clicking the Go menu in order to access the Library folder.)
    Open the Calendars folder.
    In the Finder, delete the Calendar Cache files, including any that also display a -1 (or -2, -3, and so forth) directly after their filename.
    Then open iCal and try again.
    Best wishes

  • How do I display cancelled events in iCal?

    In a simple paper calendar, you can easily mark a cancelled event by drawing a big X over it. Why is that impossible with a €1000-computer? I just cannot get it into my head that it can't be done.
    And another thing, in Sweden at least, Sundays and holidays are colored red in printed calendars. That way it is very easy to locate them when you glance at the calendar. Now, my computer has millions of colors - and yet it is evidently impossible to color certain dates to make the calendar more readable.
    I suppose that at least some of the people who designed iCal must have used a paper calendar at one point or another in their life. So why not make a computer calendar program that can make everything a paper calendar can do AND all the things it can't?

    Welcome to the discussions, Anders.
    Tell Apple your suggestions at OS X Feedback.
    You can subscribe to a Swedish holidays calendar at http://www.icalworld.com/intl.html - but I don't think it will be coloured!

  • Two major bugs in Lion - Zoom and Safari auto fill search bar

    hey there
    every since I updated to Lion I've been experiencing two major bugs... zoom randomly stops working (the one where you press control and zoom in and out) even though it's set to work on the settings. Safari is also experincing a problem concerning the search bar. mine is set to google and whilst on full screen mode, it randomly stops auto filling as opposed to what happens in non full screen mode. I actually need to get off full scren mode and go back to it to make it work again. as to the zoom thing, I need to restart my computer everytime is stops working. any ideas ?  thanx !!

    You don't need to restart. Quit Safari or logout and back in.

  • ICal Lion makes it very hard to read overlapping events

    iCal Lion makes it very hard to read overlapping events: often one can only easily read one of them. How can we get the interface in iCal for Snow Leopard and before when they were placed size by size rather than on top, and thus obliterated.

    Use Terminal.app to turn on the iCal Debug Menu -
    defaults write com.apple.iCal IncludeDebugMenu 1
    Then in iCal go to the debug menu > Top Sekret (sic) > Uncheck "use iPad style event layout."

  • HELP. Using iCal to send timed emails - I used to be able to do this...

    Ok - there's a chance I've gone completly mad - or I just dreamt this - but: Once upon a time I used iCal to send timed emails (with Mail) to outside addresses without the emails looking like they came from iCal.
    I did this for things like 'calling' in sick to work (therefor looking like I was up at 8:15 being ill, instead of sleeping comfortably in hung over splendor) or sending out parts of work throughout the workday (instead of when I'd actually completed them at three in the morning).
    This was very useful.
    I just can't now figure out how I did this.
    Has one of the iCal updates removed this function? Is there something obvious I've forgotten?
    I seem to remember using iCal to trigger a file that in turn sent the email - but again I can't trust my memory.
    Anyone have any hints or ideas? I'm driving my self mad on this one.

    Neal,
    I am in the same predicament. I would essentially like to accomplish the same deal, as seen below. . . (from another forum that went unanswered.)
    I use iCal (1.5.5/ 2.0.3) currently but own Entourage (11.2.1) as well. I have clients that I service on a weekly or biweekly basis whose appointments are in my iCal; I call and remind them the day before. The majority of these people are great about checking email. I would like to set up an automated email reminder which is sent to them for each appointment, two days in advance that does not contain an .ics file. Many times my clients' email app has junked the message due to the small attachment. Others don't want to open a file when they don't know what it is.
    Predetermined timed stamped/Automated iCal events are possible aren't they?! If not, do I have to move over to :dreaded Entourage?

  • How do I send an event notification to several people

  • ICal invites when calender event is changed in Outlook?

    How do I stop iCal / MobileMe sending out invites when I change a calender event in Outlook?

    Hi, any thoughts here?  I tried replacing the system timezone file for IST with a vanilla +0530 GMT offset one (in /var/share/zoneinfo) but that didn't work (even after a reboot).  Does Mail (and other such applications) not use the system timezone definition files?

  • HOW DO YOU SEND AN EVENT "OUT" TO A COMPONENT?

    I am writing an AIR app that has many components.  The main application has a "start" button to begin a new project, and when you exit a project, the application returns to the start page.  Even though you exit back to the start page, the major MXML components used in the application do not get destroyed because there is no way to destroy them so they just sit there idle in the background and not visible in the "start" state.  The problem is that when a user clicks the "start" button again to start a new project, the MXML components appear in the new project in the old state that they were in because there is no obvious way to reinitialize them.  If there was a way to destroy the components, then when they were recreated in a new project I could initialize them with a creationComplete handler.  But since you can't literally destroy an MXML component, I need a way for the components to be able to listen to the main program for a click event on the "start" button, and then each component initializes itself when it hears the event.  So instead of components passing an event up to the main application, I need the main application to send an event down to the components.  Is there a way to send an event from the main application out to the various components?  (or is there a way to destroy an MXML component so that you can recreate it later that I am unaware of?)

    Yes, that will do the job, though it's better to use a custom event and you don't need a property.
    I quickly made a tiny example in Flash using a static variable as a central dispatch hub..
    Create a class:
    package  {
        import flash.events.EventDispatcher;
        public class EventHub extends EventDispatcher {
            public static var dispatcher:EventHub = new EventHub();
            public function EventHub() {
                // constructor code
    // in the component add this
    EventHub.dispatcher.addEventListener("INIT_COMPONENT", _onInitComponent);
    // the handler for the event inside your component
    private function _onInitComponent(e:Event):void{
        trace("INIT_COMPONENT received");
    // wherever you need to trigger init, add this
    EventHub.dispatcher.dispatchEvent(new Event("INIT_COMPONENT"));

  • ICal not deleting old events

    When i upgraded to Leopard, iCal stopped deleting old events. I have it set to delete events older than 30 days, and it's not doing it. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

    It's a bug, it didn't work for me in Tiger either. I have the preference set to delete To Do items one day after they are completed. It rarely does. Sometimes it will work, and then it won't. It's flakey.

  • Major bug in Safari 6: previous domain persists in URL bar when clicking a link

    I've noticed an extremely weird and significant bug in Safari 6 / Mountain Lion:
    When I'm navigating through a site, sometimes when clicking a link, Safari tries to open the corresponding URL on a previously visited site's domain instead of the current site.
    For example:
    First, I'm surfing on apple.com. Then, I navigate to another site, say estibot.com. On estibot.com, I click on a link that should take me to:
    http://www.estibot.com/tools.html
    Instead, safari takes me to http://www.apple.com/tools.html, which of course produces a 'not found' error. Nothing wrong with the link; this is purely Safari's doing.
    This happens often, and apparently can happen with any site.
    In other words, the domain name of a previously visited site persists in the URL, and the page that I'm trying to navigate to is added to the domain of the PREVIOUS site, not the actual site I'm using.
    This is a major bug and is often rendering Safari useless for my workflow. How could a bug like this end up in the finished product?
    Cheers
    Esa

    Having the same problem. It is randomly consistent, i.e. some links consistently get redirected to a specific domain. For example, I am experiencing this issue when using Basecamp and links being misdirected to a specific client's website. However, the criteria for why some links redirect and some do not appears random. This issue does not occur in Firefox. This leads me to believe that it is not a DNS issue. May be a Safari/DNS pair issue or solely a Safari issue. We do use an internal DNS (OS X Server) for browsing internal development wbsites which then rolls over to a public DNS. Again, this problem has never occured in Firefox and consistently occurs in Safari.
    Safari Version 6.0 (7536.25)
    Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4
    On a side note...
    Safari's strong-handed rewriting in the address bar as you type is crazy anoying. Or should I say "too helpful?" It seems to break the first rule of usuability: don't change the interface while the user is interacting with it.
    And the unified address/search is rediculously annoying for developers who use non-complient top level domains for internal development (such as .dev)
    And the new inspector seems like a huge step backwards in usuability. (debatable considering I'm probably not as advanced as some developers.)

  • Home view major bug: Home view navigation not available in Common File Dialog Box (i.e. Java, Adobe Photoshop etc)

    Homeview major bug: Homeview navigation not available in Common File Dialog Box (i.e. Java, Adobe Photoshop etc)
    Hi
    All though provisioning somewhat more flexsible and pointing forward ... things are starting to go wrong here ... i.e. pointing to a very potential lack of success introducing users to the new Home namespace/concept ...
    0) Situation if you do not fix 1 + 2:
    You can not release the Homeview feature like this - without fixing 1 + 2.
    If not 1 +2 is fixed you might just as well leave the release of the Homeview feature out of the roadmap for Windows 10. I.e. not ready for use ... or promotion in the UI
    1) How come Homeview has not been included - like other namespaces i.e. Libraries into the Common File Dialog Box?
    How can such a trivial thing to do be missed? I.e. like forgetting to include Homeview into Explorer (would be absurd).
    If not included into the Places Bar of the Common File Dialog Box ... Home View will be unusable - because some very visible applications like Java, Photoshop will not be able to navigate that space easily at all.
    2) Finally, please fix obscure situation in the UI namespace in Explorer
    Please fix obscures like having Home view, Favorites and Libraries (side-by-side complexity and confusion obscuring usability) - all similar concepts but on a different evolutionary step. I.e. have Favorites and Libraries
    hidden - and add i.e. view control like to small buttons whatever to unhide/show the legacy concepts.
    In any case - Home view already seem to migrate/move links from Favorites to the Homeview container.
    Additionally, Home view should migrate links from Libraries to Home view - and provide similar and better functionality.
    Thus going the evolutionary way from Libraries > Favorites > Home - with the later concept of Home providing links to the cloud. Even better, sync relation ships could then later (extended features for Home) be set up among the pins - i.e. concerning
    cloud/network syncing.
    The UI should always reflect the 1 essentional concept - and not under the hood technologies or different evolutionary stages of the same basic/essential concept (technology/implementation free - abstract: "Home with pining of user data space"
    - was previously favorites or libraries (thus obsoleted)). Now the name for that concept is Home. Have it include the technology that replaces Libraries too - i.e. categorization/nesting ... and some whitespace inbetween the nesting (alike some whitespace
    already there inbetween the namespaces in the Explorer UI ... provides easy "modular" reading)

    Hi,
    Please clarify the following:
    * "X: is a network drive, but it's actually a network drive on my machine." - Is "X" a mapped drive to one of your shared folder on network?
    * What is the project directory structure with respect to WEB-INF/web.xml? Are you able to see the three pages (from web & pages folder) in NitroX Editor?
    * Does the modified content appear in "Design view" of index.jsp upon restarting NitroX?
    Ex:
    - modify one of the pages in "web" folder > save the file (alert appears)
    - restart NitroX, does index.jsp display the modified content of included page?
    * If possible please send the test case project which exhibits the behavior to [email protected]
    Thanks,
