ICal Mac to Mac

I have a iBook G4 running Tiger and my wife has a iMac G5 running panther. I want to sync the iCal calenders between the two macs but I can't find out how to do it. Can it even be done running the two different operating systems?

I think so, look at iSynCal
http://macupdate.com/info.php/id/11419
I use it for Panther to Panther transfer but I think it will work Panther to Tiger and vice versa. The same version works on Panther and Tiger.
Review and decide for yourself if you want to try it.

  • Can't receive calendar request from ical (MAC) in MS Outlook 2010

We have local calendar in outlook and ical from MAC users. Now i am not able to receive calendar/meeting request in outlook 2010 from ical (MAC) users, nor they are able to receive my calendar/meeting request.

What's your account type in your Outlook? Does the issue only happen to meeting request? How about sending or receiveing emails?
Please check whether the meeting request can be send and receive in Webmail. Also check whether you can send/receive meeting request from Windows users.

  • How can I stop getting emails when adding events to iCal (Mac) or Calendar (iOS)?

This question could just as well go to the iCloud on my Mac community...
I put 'I' in the topic for brevity but it's actually my wife who gets emails every time either of us adds or edits events, whether we do it in iCal on either of our Macs or in Calendar on our iOS devices. Presumably this is to do with a setting in iCloud somewhere, but I've searched high and low and can’t find it. I've also compared settings on our Macs and phones and can't find anything that could be the culprit. It's driving her nuts!
For more information, we share all our calendars so that either of us read and write any of them, and we're both on iOS 5.1 on our iPhones (hers is a 3GS, mine's a 4), and we're both on Mac OS X 10.7.3 Lion (2010 27" iMac and 2011 MacBook Pro respectively).

this seems to be a new "bug" on iCloud.  It's happened to many users (judging by the posts here).  My wife and I have one shared calendar and we've been happily using it without the email problems (because I had set iCloud NOT to email us whenever an event changed - this was done at icloud.com, a setting there).  Recently we began getting emails.  I suspect a change in iCloud that was in error, because I just checked my setting and the option to have an email sent when an event changes is not checked.

  • Share ical mac-to-mac without mobile me

I'm not a huge techie. I  know how to work the software I'm given - not how to program things.  I've spent hours today pouring through posts online about iCal sharing.  All I want to do is to share a few of my calendars with a couple of specific Mac users.
Unfortunately, they didn't subscribe to MobileMe before the change, Apple is not accepting any new MobileMe accounts, and iCals cannot be shared directly without them.
I've used iCal for years and I want to continue to use iCal.  I don't want to have to use Google Calendars. But from what I've read today it seems that in order for two Macs to read/write the same iCal calendar I need to use Google Calendars as an intermediary.  Is this true?  If so, is this is a temporary workaround or will Apple be releasing some new calendar program that plays well with others without needing Google to get involved?
Thanks in advance for any insight anyone can provide.

    Greetings,
In order to have multiple people on multiple computers reading and writing to the same calendars there must be some kind of intermediary handling the back and forth communication.
You are currently using MobileMe as your intermediary.  iCloud (when it launches) will also have a calendar feature, although no details in regards to sharing have been released as the product doesn't go live until the fall.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4597
    http://www.apple.com/icloud/features/contacts-calendar-mail.html
You are correct that in it's present form, MobileMe will only allow you and other MobileMe members to modify your calendars: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=MobileMe/Help/en/mm6b1a9479.html
-- Non-MobileMe members can read, but not modify public calendars.
    Options:
Wait on this topic until iCloud comes out to see what changes.  It might help...it might not.  Won't know until its available.
Use a non-MobileMe server like Google or Yahoo (or any other CalDAV service you wish to use, Google and Yahoo are just 2 examples of a free calendar service.  There may be others and if you can pay, you can have a hosting service host your own private CalDAV.)
Use a calendar sync solution like BusyCal: http://www.busymac.com/
If you REALLY trust these people you are sharing your calendar with then just give them your MobileMe name and password and they can add your account to their iCal -- NOT recommended at all but its still an option.
Hope that information is of use.
    Cheers.

  • Unresolved discrepancies involving iCal .Mac Sync process

    Hey Gang,
Without luck I've tried these steps:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1200?viewlocale=en_US
    And these steps:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6405071&#6405071
And unfortunately syncing calendars between my MacBook Pro, .Mac and my wife's MacBook has been on the fritz since at work we recently migrated to a groupware suite called Zimbra, which encompasses e-mail, contacts, calendars. Hmph.
Curiously, in my recent problem solving attempts, I discovered my web-based .Mac contacts and bookmarks aren't accurately syncing either. Does anybody even use web-based .Mac bookmarks? LOL.
Before dragging my entire issue onto the mat, are there folks out there who have encountered and have been able to solve the problem?
    Thanks!
    John

I think my problem has something to do with the entries here:
    iCal > Preferences > Accounts >
That's where Zimbra puts my work CalDav account. My Zimbra calendars appear in their own Group in the sources pane of iCal. I tried deleting the Zimbra account to see what happens but it looks like Zimbra puts its account right back in there at the time of my next Sync. I'm not sure how that part works. So it appears as if there might be a conflict between iCal Groups and .Mac syncing...
    Thoughts anyone?

  • ICal & .mac

Has anyone else had trouble with iCal syncing through .mac (Leopard only - I have no trouble with Tiger)? I keep getting the error message "could not be synced owing to inconsistent data". I have reset calendars in the .mac, sync, advanced tab and attempted to overwrite iCal from .mac. I deleted all calendars on iCal first. I have never used iSync, so there is no sync history to clear from here.

Even if you have never used isync as in opened it and used the app., the app works in the background to perform sync services when you sync with .mac via .mac sync preferences panes, but if you cannot click on the "reset sync history" button in isync>advanced...
I would do the following: unregister your computer in .mac sync pref>sync>advanced, if you have more than one computer then unregister them all one by one. At one point during the unregister process you will see a window pop up asking you if you want to get rid of or delete all and any sync data, select all the data and get rid of it or delete it. Then choose the one computer that has the more up to date data, if you have more than one, and register it again. Then do a reset of all data from your computer to .mac, log in to .mac and make sure the info is reset and correct. Once that is done, then go to you second computer if you have one, register it in .mac, and do a sync/reset from .mac to that computer.
    hope this helps

  • Strange Behavouir iCal (Mac & iPhone)

    Hallo
I work with iBiz for my Timebilling.
After the switch to 10.5 I had a 2 hours of (TimeZone Problem) with the Events in iCal. The Times were displayed correctly in iBiz and on my ipHone.
After the Update to 10.5.4, the 2 hours of in iCal where corrected and everything seems to be OK.
Now i recognised antoher problem! New Events in iBiz are not displayed in iCal anymore, but when I sync my iPhone these missing events are displayed on my iPhone!! Strange behaviour!
I am sure this problem is not occured by iBiz but because of bad programming iCal. For me the iCal app ist the most ugly app that Apple ever has written!
    Regards
    Gérard

  • Search capabilities in iCal (Mac OSX v10.7 Lion)

I've lost the ability to search through my calendars with the "upgrade" to Lion. Does anyone have a solution?

    Is there ..

  • I am so confused - .Mac To-Do and Notes Mailbox, also in iCal

I can't find anywhere online any documentation on how to properly use the ".Mac" mailboxes for Notes and To-Do's in Mail.
    I know this:
    - To-Do's put in ".Mac" instead of "On My Mac" show up in a folder on my iPhone, BUT NOT on MobileMe
    - Notes put in ".Mac" instead of "On My Mac" show up in a folder on my iPhone, AND in MobileMe
    - Creating a To-Do in ".Mac" adds it to a ".Mac" calendar in "iCal"
    - ".Mac" calendars and To-Do's in iCal DO NOT sync with MobileMe or iPhone
    - Local calendars show up on my iPhone, AND MobileMe
    - Local To-Do's DO NOT show up on my iPhone, BUT DO on MobileMe
    - Local Notes show up ONLY in mail
Since the ".Mac" calendars do not sync in MobileMe (sounds pretty counterintuitive to me), but the local calendars do, you must set up separate calendars for events and To-Do's. Not only does this create un-needed calendars and clutter, it also means that to see your To-Do's on both your iPhone and MobileMe site, you must DUPLICATE all of your To-Do's to both local and ".Mac" calendars.
Can anyone please explain this logic to me? Am I doing something wrong? I know my way around Macs pretty darn well, but this just completely has me stumped.

    Hi Joe,
I have been confused by the same issues as I too use mail/ical/mobileme and my iphone, and i'm afraid to say you are not doing anything wrong, those are the limitations and idosyncrasies.
I have managed to live without my ical to-do's not syncing with my iphone, as when I need to access them I can use mobileme at the office. Using notes i can e-mail them to myself, not ideal but a workaround.
I was though pleased to hear that some of these issues will be addressed in the new software 3.0 out in the summer, i.e. notes sync will work, better support for calendars etc. Not sure about the to-do's though, will have to wait and see.
Have a look at the links below as they may help.

  • ICal calendars Apple used to provide are no longer available - used to be on .mac

Does anyone know if the old subscriptions for the origial ical calendars for holidays and such have been moved from the old .mac service since it no longer exists? Or do I need to get my hard-copy calendar and add holidays to ical?

Many of the calendars that were listed on the Apple site were hosted on ical.mac.com, which of course is dead in the water. It's up to the authors of those calendars to find another webcal server, and until they do this the calendars won't be available: most of these calendars are third-party. There are some alternatives which do work, for example http://www.hebcal.com/

  • ICal on .Mac?

Is iCal ever likely to be properly implemented on the web through .Mac? I have always found it incredibly strange that with all this fantastic synchronisation, I cannot simply add new calendar information from within my .Mac account that automatically syncs with iCal on my computer.
There are hundreds of online calendars out there that allow you to add events via the web, is this ever going to happen to iCal?
Please tell me it will be so!!
Does anyone else think this is a bizarre omission from .Mac or is it just me??
    :-Joe

    Hi,
Try going to the Calendar menu and select "Send Publish Email" Then copy and paste the url frm the email into your web browser's address box. My guess is that you needed to use an upper case 'H' in home. e.g.:
    http://ical.mac.com/yourusername/Home
Home is the name of one of your calendars.
It seems to me that iCal is a good app but it is close to useless for people who work in different locations and on PC's as well as Macs. You would think that with a .Mac account at least it would be easy to find your calendar. Also ToDo lists etc. are not published on the Web page, only if you have a Mac and can Subscribe to it. Sort of negates one of the supposed benefits of .Mac.
I am hoping there are 3rd party "real" web apps that allow editing, updating, etc. The calendar file format is a standard so it may be possible to integrate a solution on the web with .Mac and at least iCal. Too bad Apple hasn't done it.
Wait a few months and Google will have "GCal" and then you will be able to forget about using iCal.

  • Calendar published with iCal not available in .Mac?

    Hi!
I have published a calendar with iCal successfully and without any issues - this is a home calendar and so has a limited amount of dates, events etc. However I recently imported my work calendar (which has large amounts of data) and I also published it to my .Mac account.
Other users can subscribe successfully to my published work calendar - however noone (including myself!) can view it online. Clicking on the link throws up teh following error:
. MAC - We're having trouble fulfilling your last request. Please return to the .Mac home page
Is there any solution for this? perhaps .Mac/iCal doesn't like 'private events' (from Outlook) for example?
Many thanks in advance for your time and help,
    KJQ.

I have sometimes had issues like that when I used to
publish calendars on .Mac. When I would publish the
calendar on .Mac, iCal would give me a link like
    this:
    http://ical.mac.com/sack_sama/mycalendar
When you go to that page, the link in the your
    browser's location bar becomes this:
    http://ical.mac.com/WebObjects/iCal.woa/wa/default?u=s
    ack_sama&n=mycalendar.ics
    Hi Dr. Zoidberg,
Yes the link is of the format of the first link that you provided (above). I have tried renaming the calendar and republishing same but this does not help either.
    Thanks for your help,
    KJQ.

  • Ical wont sync w .mac

I get an "inconsistancy" error w ical & .mac.I have no idea what this is or how to correct !!

OK, I was having this problem, but I have got it resolved now. First, when you say "this is the only data you have," what do you mean? You should have at least two sets, one on your computer and one on .Mac. If this is the case, the solution is to go to the .Mac preferences, go to advanced, select "Reset Sync data...", select that you want to go from the good source (your computer) to the bad (.Mac). Click OK, let it Sync, and you're done.

  • Office calendar on outlook, private one in ical on Mac both on iphone 3G

My iphone 3G finally arrived and now i want to use my ical (Mac book pro, latest OS) for private events and the office Outlook 2003 (XP pro). Both calendars should appear on my iphone (and on the Mac book) and of course no private events should appear on my office account, which is open to the team. Is this possible?
    Thanks, Oliver

Thank you so much for your help!  Your suggestion resolved my issue.
I also made sure to set my iCal preferences to use iCloud Home for my default calendar as well as reminders.
    Thanks again!

  • Ical not syncing from phone to mac ical

any thing i enter on my iphone ical will not show up on my mac ical. mac ical does show up on my iphone ical though. any ideas. this has just happened with in the last week when i got the 3g.

I had the same problem. If you read further down the list of discussions there is one there about going to iSynch in Applications, iSynch preferences and resetting the synch history. I turned off bluetooth and reset the synch history and now, new events I enter on my iPhone (2.1) show on my iCal.
They did not before. I am thrilled.
