Ical mini calendar loss

I am really annoyed with Apple over the loss of the mini calendar view in Lion. This is (amongst other issues) a huge step backward in terms of functionality. Please reeinstate this as a matter of urgency as it makes planning a nightmare. I am now being pushed to the dreaded Microsoft solution or at the very least another calendar app.

I just switched to Lion today (because of the loss of sync options with the closing of MobileMe), and I really miss the mini calendars and the sidebar. I just sent the feedback form to Apple also asking for the option to see mini calendars and the sidebar again. I am so disappointed that it's been almost a year of people asking for such a basic thing. I also dislike the "leather" look, and would like an option to make it a plain window like before, but the mini calendar loss afects my daiy use of it so much. I do switch to the year view to see the months but it's a pain because when you are in the edit window of an event then switch view to yearly then back to weekly the edit window closes an you have to start over again. I just like to see it all at once so I can plan things out. I don't want to lose something so basic to the use of any calendar. I am posting this in the hope that Apple will see it and change iCal, but also so that others might be inspired to submit a feedback form about this issue if it affects them. It's hard to believe though that after a year of people complaining about it and nothing changing, that we have any hope of getting mini calendars again. People keep saying "Just use BusyCal", and it looks like a nifty product, but paying an additional $50 to fix what we lost in Lion is so disappointing. Why is iCal not improved in Lion, made more like BusyCal or something amazing? Instead it's cut in half and looks so lame now.

  • Ical mini calendar view is off by a day

In mini calendar view, when I use the left or right arrows the date moves properly.  But when I click on a specific date in the mini calendar it brings up the calendar for the day before.  In other words, if I click on July 11, it returns with the full calendar for July 10, etc.

    I have solved this issue.

The root cause is a mis-match between time zone locations in iCal vs. System Preferences.
In System Preferences, I changed time zones, since I traveled to another state. I changed the time zone in System Preference from Pacific to Mountain.
In iCal preferences, I have "Turn on time zone support" checked.
To solve my issue, I needed to go to iCal calendar view and look for the time zone drop down selector in the top right corner. Once I changed it from Pacific to Mountain, my view problem (off by a day) went away.

  • HT2513 how do I get the mini calendar flap on iCal 5.0.3

how do I get the mini calendar flap on iCal 5.0.3. Lion 10.7.5

I finally did get the issues resolved by going here: http://blogs.adobe.com/cssdk/2011/10/fix-for-extension-signature-bug-on-mac-os-10-7.html and using that fix.
It took several tires but I finally got it to work correctly.
I tried using the update I downloaded from the Adobe updates page and that was what giving the error in my original post. Also, if I tried using the "get Updates" directly out of Extensions Manager, because i have several version of CS running on my workstation, it would invariably either tell me there were no updates or get the wrong version of the update. (The version I was looking to update was 5.0.289)
The botom line being, I did finally get the Extensions Manager working correctly.
    Appreciate your response though. Thanks.

  • ICal's Mini-Calendar Confused as to Month -- creates "offsets"

This is the second time in a week I've run into this problem. A cursory look at recent threads doesn't seem to show anyone else with the problem, although I easily could have missed it.
Occasionally, when I open iCal, it is "confused" as to the month. That is, even though right now it is 12/29, opening iCal and viewing the mini calendar in the lower left hand corner shows that it is the 29th -- but on the *November 2009* calendar. This persists if you advance the calendar ahead or back months. For example, in January, the 19th is supposed to be a Tuesday, but the mini calendar does not reflect it as such.
I've found that a way to fix the problem is to have the main calendar go to the "monthly" view, and then advance it. That seems to reset the mini-calendar.
Weird, right? Anyone else seeing this?
FWIW, I do use an iPhone.

    Brian,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Often iCal display problems can be corrected by refreshing the the com.apple.iCal.plist file. You will find the com.apple.iCal.plist file in your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder. Quit iCal, drag the com.apple.iCal.plist file to your Desktop, log out/in or restart and check iCal for normal behavior.

  • 10.6 iCal week view and mini calendar are out of sync-how to fix?

How does one re-establish "sync" between the large window week view and the small mini calendar month view displayed on the lower left side? Mine is out of sync by a month. Thanks!

Are they off by always the same amount of time or they drift apart over time?
If the former, you may try a quick adjustment, though it is a manual affair. Control-click on the clip in the browser, choose "Open in Timeline" and try moving the audio to match.
If I remember correctly, DV tape audio could be recorded in 32KHz or 48KHz. The latter is the one that should be used, always.
Maybe this one was recorded at 32KHz?

  • Is there any way to put the mini calendar on the monthly calendar as in Leopard?

I downloaded Lion about a month ago and the only dislike is ical. For one is there any way to put the mini calendar on the monthly display as it was in Snow Leopard. It makes it much easier instead of flip flopping back and forth to see last month or previous months?

    Nope

  • Mini calendar in mail missing after Lion installation

mini calendar in mail missing after Lion installation

    >After installing Lion (intel I-Mac 2g ram). My Microsoft Office 2004 no longer runs.
Upgrade to a Universal compatible version of Office or equivalent.  http://www.neooffice.org/ is the least expensive alternative, though importing Entourage into iCal, Mac OS X Mail, and Addressbook works best if the data was exported from Entourage while still in Snow Leopard.
    >Also, when I select "printer friendly" pages in Safari or Firefox, I get a "missing plugin" message.
When you upgraded, did you make sure that Safari was installed in the Applications folder?  If not, you may have to redownload Safari from http://www.apple.com/safari/ as it happens to be the same version.  Firefox double check is already Lion compatible.  For more on upgrading to Lion, see my FAQ*:

  • Mini Calendar does not show the correct date

    Hi there ,
in iCal on the bottom left side of the window is the mini Calendar, when I switch between months in this mini Cal,it does not show the correct month anymore and even the button "Today" can not revert the day back ( for example we are now in September, when I open iCal it shows it correctly but after going to next or previous months using the triangles on this mini Cal, the problem comes up ! )

Maybe it wasn't receiving the correct info from your carrier. You're supposed to turn your phone off once in a while so the carrier can update stuff. I had originally heard that you should do it once a day but I never did that.

  • All calendars disapeared, and mini calendar stuck on january 2001

My iCal (v.3.0.8) does not show my calendars in the left pane, and the mini calendar is stuk to january 2001. I can't create a new calendar, and I have no access to my events I've already created. Though, I just bought an iPhone a week ago, and when I sync it, all my calendars were transfered to it, just like if everything was ok with iCal. Does anybody have a solution for me??
    Thanks!!!

    cracoucaze,
Another thing to try is removing the "Calendar Cache" file. You will find the "Calendar Cache" file in your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Calendars Folder. Quit iCal, drag the Calendar Cache file to your Desktop, log out/in or restart and check iCal for normal behavior.
When did you first notice this behavior?
Is the iPhone the only device syncing with iTunes?
Can you correlate this behavior to anything that you have done recently with your operating system?
Will iCal function properly in another user account?
    ;~)

      thanks in advance...

    Hi,
The mini calendars were removed in Lion for some reason, but have been reinstated in Mountain Lion.

  • ICal/Google Calendar no longer sync since April 23 2011

In the last week of April iCal/Google calendar sync has quit working.  When trying to sync the iCal and the Google.  The message I get is that  "iCal found the CalDAV server 'www.google.com', but couldn't log in with the user name "XXXXXX". Make sure the user name and password you entered are correct, then try again.  I originally noticed the bouncing iCal icon about April 23-24 and at the time it said that the account [email protected] could not update. I re-entered the information for the account and it still ddid not update.  I deleted the account on iCal hoping that a re-enter of all the information would get things up and running and it has not.
I have looked over the available responses to similar problems and none of them have made any difference.
    Please always include:
    Mac OS X 10.6.7
Program and version you use to access Google Calendar (e.g. Internet Explorer 7 or Outlook 2003):  Safari 5.0.5 (6533.21.1) and Google Chrome 11.0.696.57 and iCal Version 4.0.4 (1395.7)
I also cannot set up the account on the iPad (I was hoping to do so as a work around).  Interestingly enough, my wife who subscribes to my Google Calendar as a delegate still gets the updates and things are working for her on her iMac using iCal.

There is a big discussion on this topic on the google calendar forum: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Calendar/thread?tid=7f08411ae09ca8da&hl=en
    As I wrote there:
I'm suffering the same, but I have some more information about it.  I have multiple delegates, so I have had the "good fortune" to be able to have some of them go bad and still have others to experiment with.
The ones that have gone bad are those where I made a change in iCal and then tried to refresh.
When I made changes on my google calendars I was still able to refresh in iCal and have the change show up.  But as soon as I made a change in iCal, the refresh gave that error message.
Also, I just downloaded the newest OS (OS 5) for my iPod touch (gen. 3).  That was yesterday afternoon.. and yesterday evening is when I first noticed this problem.  I can't imagine it's simply coincidence.
I just discovered one more thing.  Even the calendars that don't work both ways continue to work one way; changes made on Google Calendar continue to show up in iCal, even though the error message shows up that it can't contact the server or has the wrong address.  It's almost like the relationship has turned into "subscriptions" rather than "delegates".
I have restarted my iMac and repaired permissions with no success.

  • Can I set all existing events in a ICal Server calendar to 'private'?

I am consolidating my calendar histories. I have been able to get everything in my iCal Server calendar. But what I'd like to do is set all events before a certain date to 'private' as public/private has been lost for all items. I do want them in the iCal Server and not in a local client side calendar.
Is there a way to do this?

    Hi, Trevor!
Did you consult the online DOM documentation for something like that?
    I found the following:
    http://help.adobe.com/livedocs/acrobat_sdk/10/Acrobat10_HTMLHelp/wwhelp/wwhimpl/js/html/ww help.htm?href=JS_API_AcroJS.88…
    http://help.adobe.com/livedocs/acrobat_sdk/10/Acrobat10_HTMLHelp/wwhelp/wwhimpl/js/html/ww help.htm?href=JS_API_AcroJS.88…
Using AnnotRichMedia instead of media could be the key. Since media seems to be outdated, deprecated or something…
I'm out in the dark like you are with Acrobat and JS. Just consulted some of my bookmarks pointing at the SDK of Acrobat.
    Some dummy-code:
    var myRichMediaObjects = myDoc.getAnnotsRichMedia(nPage);
    Properties of AnnotRichMedia object:
    http://help.adobe.com/livedocs/acrobat_sdk/10/Acrobat10_HTMLHelp/wwhelp/wwhimpl/js/html/ww help.htm?href=JS_API_AcroJS.88…
    for(var n=0;n<myRichMediaObjects.length;n++){
    myRichMediaObjects[n].activated = false;
Don't know much about the DOM here. Maybe there is no length property for the object that is returned by getAnnotsRichMedia() ??
    Did not try anything.

  • ICal birthday calendar from Tiger missing after upgrade

    Hi,
I recently upgraded from Tiger to 10.6.7 Leopard.  I noticed that iCal did not import my Birthday's calendar that I had manually created in Tiger.  None of my birthdays show up except for one when I select "show birthday calendar" in iCal preferences.  I have done the following:
Removed from Leopard and replaced with my Tiger data the following:
    com.apple.iCal.AlarmScheduler.plist
    com.apple.iCal.helper.plist
    com.apple.iCal.plist
I have also removed the iCal folder in the Application Support folder in my Library.  After I did this I reopened iCal.
That didn't work so I tried removing the Calendars folder from my Library and reopened iCal to no avail.
I also rebooted into Tiger on my external to verify that the missing "birthday' calendar is still there, and it is.
I tried backing it up when I was in Tiger, than rebooting in Leopard and tried importing the backup to no avail also.
    Any other suggestions?
Edit:  The calendar that I had created "Birthdays" does show up under "On my Mac", but the actual birthdays are nowhere to be found.

The birthdays for the iCal birthday calendar are taken from your address book
You will need to have one contact page and one birthday in your address book for each person.
Otherwise enter the names onto the correct dates in iCal and set them to repeat each year which is what I have done. I run couples and families in my address book.. Most of the Grandkids don't have their own pages

When I open ical, the calendar looks like an old desk pad vs what is shown in the manual or on-line tutorials.  How do I change the view (i.e. background) not the month/day/week view but the background template?  The default in the manual is good.  Software is current - Lion.
