This is so utterly annoying- I never had this issue with previous versions of iCal, and I can't even run those versions on tiger now that I've upgraded. The tiger upgrade in general has disrupted my workflow much more than I thought it would-
Because of the way I use iCal, not seeing the full even title in month mode makes iCal pretty much useless to me. I don't want to have to click between dozens of events that begin with "Renders of" to find which set of renderings are due on which days. Nor do I want to go through and rename all of my "Renders of Levels 1a-3c" etc to make the titles more useful. It should just WORK.
Well, let me know if anyone finds a better way of making this work other than "resizing ad lib until things sorta show up"

Where are you looking on your iPad for the shows? In iTunes? If so, look under Videos.

Back up all data. Please read this whole message before doing anything, so you'll know what to expect.
Open Safari's preferences dialog and make notes of everything you would need to recreate the basic settings, such as your home page. That includes the settings of Safari extensions, if any are installed.
Triple-click the line below to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
Quit Safari. In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar. Paste (command-V) into the box that opens and press return. A Finder window will open with a file selected. Move the selected file to the Desktop, leaving the window open.
Launch Safari. Its settings will have reverted to what they were they first time you launched it. Your bookmarks, history, and AutoFill data will be preserved.
Test. If Safari now works as expected, recreate its settings and delete the file you moved to the Desktop. Otherwise, quit Safari again and put the file you moved back where it was, overwriting the newer one created in its place. Post your results.

ICal randomly deleted some events

I use iCal on my iPhone to keep up with everything. From what's for dinner to school programs and appointments. I keep my calendar, my husbands calendar and my 4 children's calendar in iCal. Since downloading iCloud,, its been syncing with my ipad and its been great! This morning, I opened iCal and watched as a few events just disappeared. So, got my iPad thinking that the info would be there and they would sync back up. But, again, when I opened iCal on my iPad, events began to disappear, not all, just some. I've reentered as many events and appointments as I can remember back to my phone but, it's not syncing with my iPad. Maybe that's a whole other discussion question. Anyway, as I'm trying to get the reentered events to sync with my iPad, more events begin to disappear from my iPad. This is very frustrating. What's going on??? Is this an iPad issue? And iCloud issue? An iPhone issue? Or a syncing issue? Maybe all of the above????

I am having the same problem. Random events just disappear after being entered in iCal. I sync MacBook (Snow Leopard), MobileMe, and iOS5 iPad and iPhone. Some times they reappear, and sometimes they don't.

Why does my screen go blank and only Adchoices advertising show up, all other content is gone?

I open firefox, go to pages that have scrollable content or open sub windows and all content dissapears and only an advertisement shows. I've done a virus scan, malware scan, updated java AND adobe. Still the same.

HT2513 Help! iCal is deleting some events, as well as deleting anything more than 1 month old

HELP! iCal is deleting events, seemingly at random. It is also deleting everything more than a month old. Since I have no other record of my calendar, this is a disaster.
This has nothing to do with icloud, as my Mac is showing the identical calendar with identically missing items. Nor have I added or deleted any calendars.

Thanks, xmad, I'll look at th CPU again tomorrow/next day under the glass when I take the board out. I already checked them under magnification and was leaning toward a funky board, but it never hurts to re-check. Eyesight is not what it used to be, for sure (I miss DOS, if that's a clue...). Don't want to flash the BIOS if not necessary, since it runs Windows fine and everything works except that RAM.
Bernhard, I don't have CPU-Z installed on that machine and don't want to install anything else until it's working normally. I'd never seen Click-Bios before and just need to get over my initial suspicion of something new! Also learn my way around it before I change anything. I'd never encountered a board reporting a bios different than printed on it. I've never messed with manual memory settings or done more overclocking than just a little exploratory and suprisingly successful nudge - if you could point me toward a good basic explaination of all those settings, I could learn from there.

kensei, I looked at my sync settings and I was only setup for 3 days on mail, but after setting this to no limit, mail seemed to download and download and I could scroll and scroll through the emails.
It's a half fix. While I can now see more email messages, if I had let it go, it might well have downloaded several thousand messages. I stopped and set the sync to 1 month. This result differs from the iPhone in that on the iPhone, it shows me a certain number and at the bottom get the "Load More Messages". Here, I only get that if I use imap.
Finally, as far as the Exchange settings go, it's google gmail, so although they use active sync, I really doubt they are using an exchange server. Either way, this same account behaves differently than it does on my iPhone.

HT5043 Some events from IPhoto do not show up in Itunes

I just imported a set of photos in IPhot0 as a new event. However, when I tried to sync my Ipads (Ipad 1 and Ipad 3) this new event doesn't show up. This happened after the last upgrade of IPhoto (version 9.4.2). I have removed the IPod Photo Cash and rebuild it by a new sync, but that didn;t help either. The last event is not visable in the Photo tab in Itunes. Also the recent album has zero photo's.

I saw somewhere a suggestion to create a smart album in IPhoto. I did that, quited both IPhoto and Itunes started Itunes again and magically the new album appeared in the list.

When I input emojis in webview's text area, some are not showing as a emojis, they are showing as a symbole e.x. ☺ (WHITE SMILING FACE),✌(VICTORY HAND) e.t.c., these are not the correct emoji as they are showing in apple device keyboard.

Is Webview an app? If so, it may not support the Emoji font. Or, if you're talking about typing in a web page, the same maybe true. The iPhone Emoji font frequently shows up as garbage characters on other phones. It sound as if it's being converted to the Symbol font in whatever your trying to use it. Avoid use of the Emoji font unless you are communicating with other iOS devices.

When viewing some websites my desktop background image shows as the page background...why...and how do I fix this?

It seems that the current version of Firefox does not understand how to process style sheets. Instead of the stylesheet background color or image, I am now seeing my PC's desktop background image. I thought I had it disabled. I enabled aero and then disabled to be sure, and still have the problem, but that was a very good idea. Thanks.
The problem started shortly after I installed two new programs, a graphics program, and an anti-virus. I just removed both programs and restarted the computer and that seems to have solved the problem. Your idea about Aero gave me the idea that one, or both of these programs changed some of my system settings. I am now going to install them, one at a time, and see if the transparency problem returns. I'll post my findings.

I can no longer view some video such as the Daily Show

Ever since I have had my MacBook Pro (2years) I've been able to view any video that I wished. Suddenly a few can no longer be viewed, such as Jon Stewart's the Daily Show. Any ideas?

Why can"t I view some Netflix programs on my Apple TV that I can view on my Roku?

I can watch "24" on Netflix on my Roku, my Panasonic Blu-Ray, my computers, but not on my Apple TV. I get a message saying "Netflix is not available", however I am able to watch other Netflix programs on the Apple TV. It appears to receive some but not others.
