ICal - multiple duplicate Bank Holiday entries
Since upgrading to the new iCal, I have amassed an incredible amount of multiple entries (58) for several events - mainly Bank Holiday events around Christmastime. They appear to be made from Kryptonite, as no amount of pressing the delete button works. Also, each time I try to delete the events from the www.me.com site, it locks up Firefox and I get the spinning pizza of regret. I have to force quit and start over again.
Also, I now have two calendars to manage: one on the Mac, one at Me.com? Is this new? Why? And which one do you use? If I make an entry on the "on MY Mac calendar, does that tie in with the one at Me.Com?
Unbelievable that this hasn't been developed properly.

yup, me too. in fact, when i create a new event on ical, then deleted it. after the sync to gmail and iphone, the new event still shows up.
apple really messed up ical this time. you think the QA group was sleeping the whole time?

Please help. I created AN event in iCal for my work calendar. Repeats M-F, 0730-1600 thru March 2014. I've changed the "hours" of some of the "events" as needed (for example, vacation time, other time-off, etc.) Instead of ONE event, each DAY is showing more than 100 views of the same event. Viewing the calendar is especially useless on my iPhone 4S - it's solid green (work cal), takes forever to load and, as I mentioned, useless. I'd delete the entire calendar, but I have to be careful not to delete "views" that may show the amended work hours. Please, offer some hope ... and HELP!

not possible from inside AB AFAIK. but you can do the following. in finder open the folder /users/username/library/application support/address book/metdata. switch to the list mode and sort by date modified. quicklook the vcards at the top to see which ones they are.

Try linking cards:
Open any contact you want to merge, tap on Edit and look at the bottom part of it. You'll find 'Link Cards' and from there you may select the contact you want to link with the one you're looking at. So if you have:
Contact 1: John A (job)
Contact 2: Business Name (who is also John A but you saved it as a different contact)
Contact 3: Something else that's also John A
You can link all three cards into one. If you choose to, you may unlink them at any time, just tap Edit and then the red circle. Your contacts won't be deleted, but they won't appear under the same ID anymore. -

IPhone Calendar: bank-holidays & whole-day-entries 24h early
Config: iPhone 3GS SW 3.1.3, iTunes 9.1.0.79, WinXP SP3, Outlook 2007 SP2
Problem-Description:
All bank-holidays (Germany) and most of whole-day-appointments syncronized from Outlook to iPhone are shown one day before the entry in Outlook. E.g. "May, 1st" bank holiday is shown on 30-Apr. "Fronleichnam" should be on 03-Jun-2010, but in iPhone calendar on 02-Jun.

How do I remove duplicate iCloud calendar entries in iTunes
Hello Everyone and thanks in advance for any help on this issue!
The main issue is that in iTunes>Devices>Info>Sync Calendars, I see of Local calendars listed and also iCloud calendars listed (they show a portion of the address (CalDAV?) that they use to sync), and the issue is that I have DUPLICATE iCloud calendar entries here and I would love to remove them.
Here is my setup:
MBP with Lion and iPhone 3G with all updates.
All of my calendars sync with iCloud (I also have an iPad, but not issue with it.) and there are no duplicate calendars or events in iCloud on the web, so this is fine.
I sync my iCloud/iCal calendars to my iPhone 3G (iOS 4.2.1) via iTunes and this is going well, so no problems here, either.
I would just like to remove the duplicate iCloud calendars from iTunes under the Info pane so as to simplify life and my understanding. Also, there are other apps (like TimeTable) that go and read the master list of calendars. So, on this app, I see ALL of the calendars by name without being able to distinguish them any other way.
Any ideas as to how I can climb inside of iTunes and remove the duplicate iCloud calendar entries?

JustinI can confirm that there are no duplicate contacts. Currently, because I use an iPhone 3G, my contacts are only being synced via iTunes, not via iCloud.
My question relates not to duplicate calendar events, but to duplicate calendar addresses (in iCloud) in iTunes' Info pane.
Here is a pic:
So, you can see that there are 2 entries for 'Personal', each with the iCloud address (CalDAV?) attached to it. Note that one entry says, 'Personal iCld' instead of just 'Personal'. This is because I renamed all of my iCloud calendars in iCal to see if that would help me distinguish the 'working' calendars from the duplicate entries.
I would love to be able to get rid of the extra calendars in iTunes to avoid confusion. I do not have any duplicate calendar entries on any devices at this point. I think part of this is because I have deslected the duplicate calendar references in iTunes.
Any ideas?

How Do I Get Rid Of Multiple Duplicates AND Relocate Numerous Files?
Basically I'm fed up of iTunes.
A couple of months ago, i had a problem with my itunes library due to a message regarding the iCloud. This practically deleted my whole iTunes library and forced me to relocate every single track, which took a lot longer than it needed to.
I was already annoyed with iTunes by this point, until yesterday around 1/3 of my tracks were still unlocated, however I could cope with this because I had the majority of my songs, despite this not being ideal.
Yesterday I was informed I needed to update my iPod, naturally I did. Then...this is when I start to get mad, my iPod crashed, then restored itself COMPLETELY back to factory settings, removing my songs and all my apps. I reopen my iTunes library to see that, that has also restored and NONE of my music is there.
Now, after a bit of fiddling, I have an iTunes library full of songs which have been duplicated twice or even three times, to add to it, hardly any are actually located. It's not just as simple as redownloading from iTunes, because I expect half my library is music from CDs. So now not only am I faced with trying to get rid of all the duplicates, I also have to locate all the songs (I have checked the preferences and redirected it to My Music > iTunes - basically what it should be) and I have to get rid of all the songs that I didn't want in the first place such as old songs that should be long gone off my iPod/Library from now.
If anyone could help, that would be great, because I'm so tired this time-consuming mess my iTunes has become.

It depends a bit on why things aren't where iTunes expects to find them but if they are in sensible Artist & Album folders in some common location then my FindTracks script should be able to reconnect them to iTunes. FindTracks uses some fuzzy matching routines and searches for multiple potential locations within a media folder. For more details see this thread.

Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created. If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin.
Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.
(If you don't see the menu bar press ALT to show it temporarily or CTRL+B to keep it displayed)
I intend at some point to improve DeDuper so that when there are multiple duplicates, where at least one is connected to a file while others are missing, it can throw away the entries to any missing files, however the current version needs all duplicates to have been repaired first.

The most recent version of the script can tidy dead links as long as there is at least one live duplicate to merge stats and playlist membership to and should cope sensibly when the same file has been added via multiple paths.

Contacts with Multiple Backup Assistant + Contacts Entries
I have read others with these same issues. Unfortunately, the responses they are getting have to do with having multiple contacts and joining those contacts. That is not the issue. The issue is that each contact has MULTIPLE Backup Assistant + Contact entries. Meaning, when you you start typing a name to send a text message to, it shows you multiple phone numbers for that person (only, they are all the same phone number). For example, if I start typing Zoe, it will show you contacts that match, it will have Zoe 555-555-5555 listed 6, 7, 8, or more times. But wait, that is the home number, how you keep scrolling them until you get to the mobile number which is also listed 6, 7, 8 or more times. When you go into you contacts and select Zoe, and then go to Edit, you see why - There are 6, 7, 8 or more Backup Assistant + Contacts entries!!! These duplicates are what we are wanting to know how to remove. My daughter has only one phone number, but when I click on the her picture in the favorite contacts widget, it shows 2 and they are both the same. Even the BAL #225 shows up EIGHT times!!!!! When you go online (to the Backup Assistant), they are all listed there too. HELP!!!!!!!
I have no prblem syncing multiple mobile numbers so I don't think it's a universal issue with iOS. The only difference I see is I am using CardDav instead of using the Exchange option. Have you tried it that way? You can urn off contacts in the Exchange account and add the CardDav account separately.

Duplicate portable user entries in NetInfo

Hopefully someone can help me out here! I'm running a 10.4.11 server with multiple portable accounts, with laptops and desktops running a mix of 10.4.9-11's. I am unable to log into the machines sometimes on some of the portable accounts (who have already been logged into these particular machines -- that is, their home folders/etc should already have been created).
On further inspection I notice that in the Accounts prefpane on the machine there are duplicates and often triplicates of the same user, and also obviously in the NetInfo manager's /users section I find these same duplications. I have been able to fix the problem by logging into another user account or local admin account and deleting all three entries for the account in question so the next time they attempt to log in it sets up the NetInfo piece locally, but this is sometimes only temporary. Has anyone had any experience with this issue and know if there is something I can be doing wrong? It seems to happen randomly on different accounts and machines, and in two of the sites I manage. I want to think it's not server related, since one of the sites is still running 10.3 server and one is 10.4, but the clients all happen to be 10.4.x.
Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated, and I apologize for the massive wall of text!

I have over 1000 duplicates in both my files and in the Itunes library. The duplicate function appears to have been removed from teh latest version of Itunes. How do I identify and remove multiple duplicates from my library and my music file
The show duplicates/show exact duplicates features have been left out of iTunes 11.0. Rumor suggests they will be restored in the next build. In the meantime I have written two Windows scripts to make playlists of Duplicates and Exact Duplicates, either from a selection of tracks or the entire library. Note that, as with the iTunes feature, this list makes no distinction between "originals" and "dupes", you have to decide which is which.
There is also my DeDuper script for automatically removing duplicate copies but keeping one remaining copy of each set. This can preserve ratings, play counts, playlist membership, etc. which are lost in a manual clean up. Please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping. See this thread for background on deduping and the script.
If you want to manually remove duplicate tracks use shift-delete to remove selected tracks from the library as well as the playlist. Keep one of each repeated group of files and don't send the others to the recycle bin unless you are sure that there are multiple files on the disc as opposed to multiple entries to the same file. Same advice to backup applies.

I am trying to install ADEP 10 (all modules including Content Services) on JBoss 5.1 through manual/custom (means non turnkey) installation.
I have done the configuration/steps as per the instructions in "adep_prepare_install_single.pdf". I have copied the adobe-contentservices.ear, adobe-livecycle-jboss.ear, adobe-livecycle-native-jboss-x86_win32.ear and adobe-workspace-client.ear to deploy folder of JBoss. Except Content Services every other applications are deployed and running.
we want contentservices is up and running, but are errors related to it.

I removed the folder "lucene-indexes" from below location, the problem resolved.

Did you check your user name and password in Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars...tap your email account, tap SMTP, then tap the primary server name. Make sure the settings there are correct.
