ICal no longer syncing via MobileMe correctly

Hello,
I was hoping someone might be able to help. Ever since the upgrade to MobileMe for iCal, syncing has become an issue on the iPad (on the iPhone 4 it works fine). For some reason, only my subscribed events will show up on the iPad, and all my other calendars do not so up in the calendar list what so ever.
I have turned syncing off in the settings for MobileMe on the iPad and turned it back on again but it has had no effect. Any other suggestions would be welcome!
Regards,
Graeme

1. Fire up your Mac and connect the iPad.
2. Open iTunes and confirm that you are NOT syncing via the cable. Change settings as appropriate. When finished, disconnect the iPad and power it down.
3. Open iCal on the Mac and confirm that the events are correct. Add/delete events as appropriate. Quit from iCal.
4. Open System Preferences > MobileMe > Sync
5. Click on "Advanced" and then click on your Mac when it shows up.
6. Click on "Reset Sync Data"
7. At the top, Replace: Calendars
8. Click the right-pointing arrow so that the complete text states: "Replace Calendars on MobileMe with sync info from this computer."
9. Click "Replace"
10. You're finished with the Mac. Power up the iPad and give it time to resync to MobileMe and you're good to go.

  • ICal no longer syncing to MobileMe

I need to access the same calendar on numerous devices. After installing Lion on my main computer, I verified that my iCal calendar was correct and functioning and proceeded to set up the calendar in MobileMe. I noticed that with Lion, the option to select a checkbox for Calendars is no longer in the MobileMe section of system prefs. However, there is now a Mail, Contacts & Calendars section.
In Preferences in iCal, I made sure my MobileMe account was listed under Accounts, and it is and it's active. I've also bublished the calendar to MobileMe. However, it still doesn't show in MobileMe. I have made sure I haven't missed something small like selecting a calendar so it's not hidden, etc. The only calendar in MobileMe is called Untitled (I must had added this new one a while ago after deleting the old one). That calendar shows up in iCal. So apparently it's downloading Me calendars and not uploading my iCal calendar.
    Grateful for any suggestions.

Works for my almost instanly i create a ical event in my computer it shows in mobileme in the browser, are you creating new events in mobileme home as show below::

Levi G B ... Also found another thread by Davidfromsurfside on 10/14/11 0703A with the same problem. I responded on his thread "I have the same problem. IOS5 on iPad1, iPad2 and iPhone4S all with iCloud on. Lion 10.7.2 installed on my MacBookPro and iCloud set up/on. Any new iCal entry on either iPad or on the iPhone ends up via iCloud on both iPads and iPhone. BUT NOT ON THE MacBookPro. And iCal entry on the MacBookPro does NOT GET SENT to iCloud.com or to either iPad or the iPhone. This is a huge problem for me because I do all my office scheduling on the iPad or iPhone but rely on the MakeBookPro to print out daily client lists. • ICal no longer syncing with iPhone

My iCal has suddenly stopped syncing with my iPhone and I have tried everything to get it to work again, with no luck. I do not use iCloud and sync through iTunes.
The operating system on my computer is Mountain Lion, my iPhone is a 4S with iSO 5.1.1 and I am using iTunes 11.0.1.
Does anyone know what could be causing my syncing to suddenly stop? Everything else on my computer is syncing with my iPhone.

You can no longer sync via iTunes. That method of sync was removed (and the 1000+ post thread is arguments over things tangientally related to that).
You need to sync via other means than iTunes, then.
One option is to use iCloud. If you sign into iCloud on all your devices, and then make sure your calendars are in the "iCloud" section on your devices, they should sync.
If you don't want to use iCloud, you could use Google calendars, they operate much the same way (but may be less reliable).
Or if you use Exchange for work, you could sync that way.
Or if none of those are acceptable, you could install OS X Server and set up the calendar server on your local network and use it to sync. This is fairly straightforward "for setting up a UNIX calendar server" but it's not trivial and beyond the scope of a forum post to explain it all

  • New Macbook iCal will not sync to MobileMe

I bought a new macbook air and when i turn on syncing, my mobileme account will not sync the calendar saying mobile me needs to be fixed...the dialog box says:
"You need to replace your calendar information on MobileMe." If this computer has the most current information, click replace. If the most current information is on another computer, click Fix Later and replace your information from that computer...
    Thanks for any ideas...

Sounds like exactly the same problem I have. Have Black MacBook and iPhone 3Gs synced to MobileMe and everything works. I set up a White MacBook (both MacBooks are 10.5.8) with new HD, formatted, new install of Leopard, new application installs, ran software update until all are current, then ran Repair Permissions.
Then turned on MobileMe sync. Safari bookmarks, Mail, Contacts, etc all sync fine and near real time for changes. iCal on computer is completely blank--didn't even update the 4 named calendars. I reset iSync history and tried replacing data on computer with MobileMe content. Nothing. Then reset iSync history again and tried merging all data. This time it said there was over 3,000 calendar events to add. Sounded good. But nothing happened.
Looks like I can create a new event in iCal and it syncs to MobileMe, then delete in MM and it updates on MacBook. But zero existing events in MM show in iCal on MacBook, even when I edit one and resave it.
Update: I sent a message to Apple at www.apple.com/feedback.

  • Since downloading Maverick iCal no longer syncs between my MacBook Pro, my iMac or iPad - how do I rectify this?

since downloading Maverick iCal no longer syncs between my MacBook Pro, my iMac or iPad - how do I rectify this? (my first post ever)

I know Pete, but what if I don't have good internet connection sometimes?
    Imagine:
this morning planning the whole next week with my iMac, bussiness around Europe.
    I must go this evening.
Just now internet line fails in the neighborhood.
Stupid situation, and not so uncommon, cause not all of us are living in Manhattan. (this is what Apple thinks)
Cable must be an option beside iCloud.
    true or not?

  • ICal error message "HTTP/1.1 403 Forbidden" but still syncing via mobileme.

here is the screenshot ......http://gallery.me.com/joyseeker/100217/Screen-20shot-202010-07-15-20at-2011-59-4 5/web.jpg?ver=12791918490001
My problem must have started last week when I did a restore on the iPhone to see if its speed would improve. I noticed this week events added to the iPhone calendar were not updating the Mac and vica versa via Mobileme.
I realised then I had to switch on Mobileme syncing on the iPhone. Bingo syncing works again but now I get this popup error message regularly.
What am I not doing or enabling kind sirs?

I get the same error, when I am importing a calendar into MobileMe (via CalDAV) with items that have alarms more than 7 days out. The calendar I am trying to import is 37 MB in size and goes back to 1999 (it started life on a Palm III).
My solution, which is very time consuming, when this error occurs is to
    1. change the alarm lead time to less than seven days,
    2. re-export the calendar to an ICS file,
    3. disconnect iCal from MobileMe (Preferences->Accounts->"-"),
    4. delete the old destination calendar on www.me.com,
    5. create a new, empty calendar on www.me.com,
    6. reconnect to the MobileMe calendar in iCal (Preferences->Accounts->"+"), and
    7. import the ICS file into the empty MobileMe calendar.
It's a real pain! I really do wish, Apple would fix the issue very soon. During a chat with a MobileMe support agent I was informed that Apple was working on the CalDAVWriteEntityQueueableOperation, although she didn't offer any details and didn't appear to be aware of a connection with the length of alarm lead times.

  • ICal no longer synchronising with MobileMe

My wife has an iMac and a MacBook both synchronising with (and via) MobileMe. Both Intel machines are running Snow Leopard.
All were synchronising perfectly, including iCal, until as requested by MobileMe, I upgraded to the New Calendar.
Now only the Imac synchronises correctly. TheMacBook returns a pop-up stating that the iCal has "either wrong ID login OR wrong Password" !
(Le serveur n’a pas reconnu votre nom d’utilisateur ou votre mot de passe pour le compte « [email protected] ». Assurez-vous de les avoir correctement saisis.)
I have stopped the synchronisation and cancelled the iDisk synchronising.
Then connected again at the level of MacBook and logged again to the account. And synchronised again. It states first login for the calander.
The MacBook synchronises but the calendar returns the error.
My wife's account is sub (family) account of my main MobileMe account.
Help me please as I really don't understand nor do I know what to do !
    Regards,
    Kevin in France

Thanks for the effort and response. I was able to contact Apple Help and I downgraded back to the old mobileme iCal. The new mobileme iCal is very inflexible. The Month header takes a huge font. Fonts on appointments can't be changed and, as a result, appointments can be seen in their entirety. There are other very irritating things about the new iCal and my conclusion is that it's just a very weak attempt at Outlook and has a long way to go before it's usable. I just hope Apple doesn't cut us off the "old" calendar which works very well (and has for some time now)

  • Can I choose which subscribed calendars are synced via MobileMe?

So the recent update synced all of my subscribed calendars to my phone. I don't necessarily want to do this because I subscribed to every employee's calendar in my office as well as my wife's calendar. Ideally, I'd like to ONLY subscribe to my wife's calendar.
Is there a way around this? Do I have to turn of Calendary syncing all together? If I do that, will my personal calendars no longer sync unless I plug the phone in? Doesn't that suck? Is there a new update coming? Have I asked too many questions?
    Thanks!

I took advantage of the MobileMe chat support to ask this question a few weeks ago, and they said no go--via MM, it's all subscribed calendars or nothing. It used to be that MM did not support subscribed calendars at all (I think)--an update added this feature but gave us no control over it.
The chat agent might have suggested that selective syncing would be part of the next MM update, but I failed to pay much attention to that part, or to follow up, sorry.
I think this is part of why I'm an update or so behind. Also, I installed Mozilla's Sunbird as a calendar application, and subscribed to calendars in that. Which lets me check them when I want to, but keeps them out of the syncing loop. Moving employee calendars there might be an option.
It's possible this program might help, not sure, but it seems to be recommended for a number of calendar issues:

  • New iCal no longer syncs in the background?

Ever since I upgraded my iCal within MobileMe and iCal on Mac to that new CalDav thingy, iCal doesn't seem to sync in the background any more, like the old one did with the MobileMe sync throughout the day.
I have mine set to sync every hour but it doesn't seem to sync unless iCal is actually running on the Mac - if I launch it and it hasn't synced in an hour, it starts syncing, so it's not like I'm missing syncs, as long as I make sure to fire it up every now and then.
I used to have it set to "Push" sync, but that was annoying. Whenever I tried to create a new event, after writing a few words for the event, iCal would lose focus from it (due to the sync starting) and I'd have to double-click my event to bring up the box where I can edit event title again (to finish writing it). Frustrating.

The Calendar is no longer 'syncing' as such and nothing you do in System Preferences>MobileMe>Sync will have any effect. You should turn Calendar syncing off there (the other data continues to be synced as before).
The Calendar now lives on the MobileMe Server and iCal reads it from there when opened (like webmail) - it does maintain a cached copy (unless you turn that off) so that you still have a calendar when offline. Changes won't appear until iCal is running. If it's left running and you make changes elsewhere they should appear pretty quickly.
I don't know why you're having the focus problem. I double-click in a day (when in month view) to open the pane for a new event, type the event title and make any necessary settings: I then click 'done' and immediately see the syncing icon appear. I do have the calendars set to Push. You can set the sync to various delays if you want, but as you've found iCal does have to be running.
You don't say whether you are also using iOS4 devices: someone posted that his iPad only picked up changes when the Calendar was first opened, and not subsequent one while the calendar was still running - he had to close it and open it again. I don't know whether this is expected behaviour or whether he has got some setting incorrect (I don't have an iPad or iPhone to check).

  • Ical no longer syncs with isync or .mac

Ical on my PowerBook G4 no longer syncs with .mac or via isync. When I open ical, none of the events on the calendars display. After moving between "month" and "week" I can get the events to display. When I sync, I receive a window saying " Can't synchronize calendars and To Do items to iCal: device is not available." This is not the same as the message normally received when an external device such as an ipod is not connected. Bookmarks and Address Book are synchronizing without problem. Anybody out there experienced something similar? I have tried throwing away the ical preferences .plist from the library but that has not helped.

I don't have Panther available anymore so I'm shooting in the dark. You might try to stop syncing and then turn syncing back on (the idea is to break the connection and start new) Be sure to have a backup of anything you can't lose.
You might also try trashing iSync preferences.

  • Why does iCal no longer sync with BusyCal (and vice/versa)?

My Calender application is BusyCal.  I have Mac OS X 10.8.2. BusyCal is version 2.0.1. Until recently, when I entered something in BusyCal, the same information appeared in iCal. When I entered something on my iPhone in iCal, the same information appeared in BusyCal on my iMac. - Everything was perfect.
This is no longer the case. I asked the BusyCal developpers. Here what they replied:
"I'm sorry, but Apple deprecated Mac OS X Sync Services in 10.8, there is nothing BusyMac can do to work around this (in either 1.6 or 2.0)"
    Who can help? - Thanks!
    Peterfromwinterthur

Fortunately I have found a solution and resolved the problem: i learned how to sync via iCloud:
in iBooks i found the e-book "Take Control of Calender Syncing and Sharing With BusyCal".
I followed the easy written instructions step by step. Now, with iCloud, BusyCal syncs again with iCal (Calender)! And the Calender information on my Calenders on my iPhone and my iPad are both up to date.
I am happy and thank you all!

  • ICal no longer syncing between phone and MBP

    Hi Meg
I am using iBooks on all devices since it became available on the MAC OS. Prior to this (when it still worked) I used adobe reader on the MacBook and iBooks on the iPad and iPhone, as these files synced with the iOS devices.
I noticed some time after an upgrade that some of my files disappeared.
    I'd appreciate any assistance.

  • After upgrading to Lion, iCal doesn't sync with MobileMe

After my upgrade to the new Lion OS X, the iCal doesn't sync properly with MobileMe; events from MobileMe will go to iCal but they will not go from iCal to MobileMe.
In System Preferences/Internet & Wireless/Mail, Contacts & Calendars: I've tried reinstalling MobileMe  and checking the Calendar & Reminders box, but that didn't work.
In System Preferences/Internet & Wireless/MobileMe:  It doesn't show a calendar.  Clicked sync now, but that didn't work.
    Any suggestions?

    Tanner,
In System Preferences/Internet & Wireless/MobileMe:  It doesn't show a calendar.  Clicked sync now, but that didn't work.
I have not seen, nor am I aware of that setting in System Preferences.
(Option + Click) on the Sync Icon in the Menu bar. If you do not see Sync status in the Menu bar, go to System Preferences...>MobileMe>Sync>...and check the "Show Sync status in menu bar.
    You will see these selections:
Try the "Open Sync Diagnostics..." selection and you may get some clues.
If that is unsuccessful, backup your calendars and choose Reset Sync Services...
