ICal not functioning

I have lost the use of iCal completely. I reloaded OS X (10.4) and iCal reappeared, but when I click on the icon, it only flashes momentarily, but does not stop. I looked in Applications and it is listed there.
I see that there is an upload for systems before OS X 10.4, but none (that I can find) for later systems. I tried to load it from my 10.4 install disk, but it seems to want to return to the original OS, and I don't want to take a chance with that. I see that there are many questions here related to this problem, but I don't see a solution anywhere. Is Apple going to help out with this? How can I contact them directly?

The problem went away when I cleaned up some items that showed up during a permissions repair and then reloaded iCal.

ICal not functioning correctly

First of all, I have been using Entourage which I sync with iCal so that I can sync my calendar with my iPhone. I would like to discontinue using Entourage but for some reason, iCal is not functioning correctly. First, the calendars do not appear in the left hand window and I cannot seem to figure out how to get them to appear.
Second, when iCal opens off of the dock, there is nothing showing on the calendar at all. When I change the view (i.e., month, to week) then all of my scheduled events appear. When I go back to the original view, everything appears. When I attempt to sync with MobileMe, I get a message at the website that "a script is not responding." I don't know whether the two are related or not.
Any help?????

I have the same problems. Also, I can't enter a "multi day' event, the system tells me there is a fault and it cannot synch. I was automatically updated to MobileMe, but the system isn't performing as promised.

ICal not functioning at all

After struggling for 2 days trying to sync my calendar with Google calendar(s), iCal has ceased to function completely...it won't open preferences, all data has disappeared, imported backups don't appear after it seems to perform the import! Can I reinstall iCal?

took my iMac to a Genius at the Apple store and he fixed it all for me...instructions posted on the Google Calendar info are not updated for Snow Leopard. Everything works fine with Google now!! However, now iCal doesn't sync with my iPad!!
I guess I'm due another trip into the Apple store.

ICal invitations not functioning properly

My invitations in iCal are not functioning properly; perhaps it's something I'm doing wrong.
I have ticked all of the relevant boxes in both iCal and Mail to ensure that the invitations are automatically added to iCal. Here's the problem: According to the Apple instructions, you're supposed to tick on the invitation in iCal, then tick on the mail icon in the lower left corner to view your choices in the Notification area. That's supposed to allow you to accept, decline or tentatively accept an invitation. On my iCal, I don't see any of these options in the notification area. The odd thing is that if I retrieve the inviations via email through Entourage, all of these options are presented within the email itself, which doesn't happen in either Mail or Thunderbird. I prefer Mail and am looking forward to ridding my mac of Microsoft software, so I don't want to have to keep it hanging around just for that one item.
Could someone please point me in the right direction? I can certainly follow instructions, if given.

ICal Notes not functioning, 10.5

Upgraded to 10.5 and iCal Notes feature seems to be not available.

I constantly used notes to teach classes as well as make quick prompts for events and meeting. Having to drill down to see them is AWFULL. To get rid of something is hard but to not replace it with some sort of replacement functionality is worse. What where they thinking? Writing notes on a calendar, and being able to see each days notes at a glance is a basic business function (remember analog calendars?) that does not need reinventing. Apple has once again replaced the wheels on my Corvette with square stone blocks and called it innovation.

ICal not showing entries in month view

I have entered a entry that starts on the 22nd July at 0600 and ends on the 29th July at 0900. In the months view the only entry visible is on the 22nd and it just says 0600 not the title i have given the entry, in the day and week views the entry can be seen okay. If I change the entry type to all day event, then ical displays the title and it puts it in each day on the month view!! However as this is a timed event I don't want to change it to an all day event, I just want it to display each day in the month view....
I hope this makes sense, as I can't work out if this is a bug or if I really am doing something wrong, in Outlook/Entourage this would display as I need it to!

Application UI issues are in many cases, caused by a corrupt plist file.
Quit iCal, and try removing the com.apple.iCal.plist file from your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder. Since that Library is now hidden, you have to use the Finder>Go Menu>Depress the "Option" key>Library. Drag the .plist file to your desktop, and log out/in or restart and check iCal for functionality.

Hi, I wonder if anybody out there can help med? On my MacBook iCal won't open at all. I'm not very sure when the problem started, possibly when I installed some more memory and Lion. I'm now on OSX 10.7.4. Does that mean that my old iCal should be deleted and a new one downloaded – where from?

Try removing the com.apple.iCal.plist file from your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder. To find Library folder, use Finder>Go Menu>Depress the "Option" key>Library. Drag the .plist file to your desktop.
Also, when you are in the Library Folder, open the Calendars Folder and remove any files with "Cache" as a part of the file name. Log out/in, or restart and check iCal for functionality.

Turn off alarms when Ical not running! Bring it back

It seems that the option to turn off alarms when Ical not running has been removed. The only option now is to simply turn alarms off (then you forget to turn it back on!). i am a professional speaker and when an alarm rings when I'm using Keynote it knocks keynote off the screen. That is a real pain when you are speaking to 1000 people! Anyone got any ideas. And Apple, please bring it back.

I sure hope the developers at Apple as well as the management team who can make product impacting decisions are reading this thread - do they realize that this makes the *alarm function unusable by professionals* who do presentations? I was in front of a small group doing a powerpoint tonight and the alarm went off in the middle of it - not a good thing.
So, I will choose to turn them off completely at this point - it is the only option. And I am not going to manually turn them on and off - that's a ridiculous prospect.
I can only guess at the reason for removing the earlier functionality of turning off the alarms when the application was closed, but this is absolutely a requirement if alarms are to be functional at all for those of us who do presentations.

Ical notes

Is there a way to get ical notes to show up on my phone? I have a motorola slvr, event times sync ok but the notes aren't there.

I miss this feature on my Nokia N73, too.
"Event" or "To-Do" of Nokia N73's default calendar doesn't have "note" field, so it should be fixed by Nokia, Symbian and Apple.
There are some calendar applications like Papyrus which has "note" field on each "event" and "To-Do", so I hope Apple or someone implement that "note" on iCal can be synced with them.
Is there any application that achieves this functionality?

Photosmart c309a- 'The wireless radio is not functioning, contact HP support'

My Photosmart c309a wont connect wirelessly. Upon running the wireless network test, the report states, and I quote "The wireless radio is not functioning. Contact HP support". The report then states the following:
Wireless on PASS
Wireless working FAIL
and everything following that stated as 'not run'.
Ive searched for other threads on the subject, and the only sloutions I can find are unplug the printer and plug it back in to reset it (made no difference), and try the HP print and san doctor (link was dead, found it manually and didnt work as it cant connect to or even see the printer on the network).
So the question is, is this a hardware fault, and if so what can be done about it?

Yes, it is an hardware issue and indicates that the Wireless card is not functional.

If you are not in US , then log on to www.hp.com , at bottom-left corner there is a world map icon, click on it and then select the region you belong to, which would then provide support options for you for that region.

Bridge not functioning in PhotoShop CS3 Extended

I deactivated Photoshop CS3 on a computer I was no longer using and installed it (CS3) another computer. I activiated CS3 on the new computer. However, when trying to use Bridge, I get a message that says that Adobe no longer supports Bridge Home and Bridge does not function on the new computer. Is there anything I can do to get Bridge to function as part of CS3 Extended?

Satellite P300D-110 integrated webcam is not functioning properly.

Hello everyone,
as the title says, the integrated webcam of my Toshiba Satellite P300D-110 is not functioning properly. Allow me to explain. Using the Camera Assistance Software I can take photo's and record music. If I try to record a video the preview screen turns up black and the end result tuns out black aswell, completely black.
Whenever I try to use my camera with applications such as MSN Live Messenger, Skype or at community websites using Firefox, Internet Explorer or Safari the application in question crashes.
*How did this happen?*
You tell me. This is how it went;
* Day 1: I've started up my laptop and looked at my fresh and clean install of windows vista home premium. I tried out my webcam using the webcam assistance software and it worked like a charm.
* Day 2: Once again I boot up my laptop and try to start my webcam only to find out that it no longer functions.
To give a quick summary of the thread;
* Using Camera Assistance Software provided by Toshiba I can take pictures.
* Using Camera Assistance Software provided by Toshiba I can record sound.
* Using Camera Assistance Software provided by Toshiba I can _*NOT*_ record or preview a video.
* I can not start my camera using any other application such as but not limited to; MSN Live Messenger, Skype, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safar.
* I have downloaded and isntalled the latest drivers from the Toshiba website.
* My laptop is about a week old.
I'm not sure what more I can do, all I want is for the webcam to work, if anyone can help me out please do so.
And if possible WITHOUT having to reinstall Windows Vista Home Premium.
I haven't even used it and wouldn't want to make that a solution for all the problems that might occur in the future.

Using Camera Assistance Software provided by Toshiba I can NOT record or preview a video.
Can you please describe the steps how you try to do this? I must ask you this because it runs well on my notebook. When the recording is finished player opens and you can see recorded movie. It is avi format and at the top of this player you can see the path where the movie is saved.
Most strange thing for me is that you cannot use it with Skype. Ok for MSN is not the perfect but there is absolutely no problem with Skype. Check the settings and it must work somehow.

Keyboard+trackpad not functioning at all on HP 2000 Notebook PC! please help!

Tonight I turned on my laptop (HP 2000 Notebook PC) to find that the Keyboard and track pad was not responding, the only thing that worked was the wireless mouse.
I can not find the product number but the name is HP 2000 Notebook PC, the operating system is Windows 8, I can't login to see if there are any error messages, the last thing I remember doing was trying to apply a new cursor image and it told me to restart and when I did I couldnt log back in or type anything at all, I could only use the mouse.
Also the things I have tried to do are: Restart Computer, Take out batter and restart. (I cant do much because I can't type in password)
All help will be greatly appreciated!
UPDATE: I logged in using the On-Screen Keyboard, it seems like a hardware malfunction and not a virus because i cant find anything in my downloaded stuff that wasnt there before. So it is just a hardware malfunction.
UPDATE #2: it says that the driver (for keyboard and touchpad) may be corrupt or missing and it says Code 39 in parenthesis.
