ICal not syncing from existing iPhone to new macbook pro hard drive

Hi everyone,
Can anyone help? I have just had the Hard drive on my Macbook Pro (mid 2009) replaced and I have then restored all previous hard drive content and settings from my time machine. Everything transferred across with no problem except that when I came to sync my iPhone with my computer, everything else will sync except for iCal.
iCal on my computer currently has the same calenders but with nothing in them. I want to be able to sync my iPhone calenders with my Macbook calenders so that the information gets transferred accross to my Macbook.
I have tried adjusting the sync settings in itunes and I have tried backing up and restoring my iphone to see if I could force the computer into recognising my iPhone ical files but to no avail. I am now stuck and could really do with some advice.....
Thanks
SiBB

Connect to the MacBook. It will ask you if you want to sync with the MacBook. It should then ask if you want to save what is on the iPad. Tell it yes, and it should do so. You should have your iPad apps backed up anyway, but I am pretty sure that you do not lose anything by transferring to another machine. The iPad does not care if it was a Mac or PC that it is synced with, it is not in either format. You do need to go and authorize your Macbook on your iTunes account.
Besides there is a step by step instruction on [How to transfer or sync iPad contents to Mac|http://www.softwarebbs.com/wiki/Howto_transfer_or_sync_iPad_contents_toMac].
Hope it can do you a favor.

You don't. Subscribed calendars do not sync.
Just subscribe to the same US Holiday calendar in iCal on your Mac.
Subscribed calendars also not show at iCloud.com.

Check your Settings on both devices. Is iCloud's calender sync turned on (Settings > iCloud > Calendar)? Please make also sure that you are not only using local calendars.

  • Gmail is not syncing on my iPhone 6 or macbook pro

Gmail is not "loading" or "syncing" on my iPhone 6 or macbook pro
I can access gmail through safari and I receive email from my other email accounts (that are not gmail)
    Internet connection is good
I have reset, rebooted, deleted, the gmail account from both the macbook pro and iPhone, then added them back I've also reset the gmail password several times.
    Suggestions?

I tried a few times like most of the users on this post without any luck syncing Iphone 6 IOS 8.1.2 with an old exchange server 2003 but now I sync EVERYTHING without any problems, and this steps are for my friends in the airport IT group (They know who they are, I appreciate their help always).
BE SURE THAT EXCHANGE HAS IMAP4 up and running.
    The steps to configure:
    1. Delete any exchange account configured previously.
    2. Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts and Calendar>Add Account>Exchange and add [email protected] and Password then Next.
At first It wont find anything and goes to next screen where asks for
    3. Server: mail.domain.com, Leave domain is optional, Your User: user, Your Password: password. *****Then It says impossible to verify account***** but now you have the SAVE option. Touch on SAVE.
    4. ON on everything you want to SYNC and touch SAVE again.
    5. It says account added but now you have to reconfigure. NOW it appears the name EXCHANGE on Account inside Settings>Mail,Contacts and Calendar
    6. Touch on it and on the Exchange menu touch on Account>Advanced Settings> Here TURN OFF SSL. Then return back to ACCOUNT and OK. You are supposed to see the check marks on all boxes the Voilá Exchange is UP. If not RESTART your iphone. Tricky but it worked for me, hope work for you guys.

  • Syncing ipad and iphone to new macbook pro

I have a pre-intel tower mac that the iphone and ipad are currently synced to.
I want to sync them both now to my new macbook pro. I am unsure about syncing in general as I haven't done it myself yet.
I'm a little worried about loosing data, and wondering what happens to the old tower they are currently synced with.. can I not longer sync them to it once they are synced to the MAcbook pro?
    any tips will be helpful.

  • New MacBook Pro hard drive is full - but Nearly All Files on DropBox. Please Help!

I recently bought a new MacBook Pro and I am no longer able to download files from my email because it is out of space. I store everything on DropBox and nearly no files on the hard drive. I am looking for assistance to reduce the 72.68GB of "other" on my hard drive. Many Thanks!
    about my Mac:
    Storage Space:
<Image Edited by Host to Remove Personal Information>

You have a very small hard drive, and not enough free space for your computer to function well. You need an external hard drive. If you anticipate adding a lot more files, you can clone your existing system to the external, and then boot from it. Or you can shift some of the stuff that you currently store in Dropbox to a backup area on your external drive, and then cut down what you keep in Dropbox to contain ONLY the files that you need to be able to access when not at home. You can also change the location of your Dropbox folder, with the caveats noted at the bottom of the help article I have copied below:
    From Dropbox Help:
How do I move my Dropbox folder to a new location?
You can move your Dropbox folder to any location on your hard drive using the Dropbox desktop application. If you decide to move the folder, we strongly recommend choosing a location on the same hard drive as your operating system. Dropbox won't work correctly should the Dropbox folder ever become inaccessible.
You can select the new location from the Dropbox desktop application preferences.
Using the Dropbox desktop application on Mac OS X
Click on the Dropbox icon from your menu bar.
    The Dropbox icon
Click on the gear icon and select Preferences... from the menu.
    Click the Account tab.
Move the Dropbox folder location by selecting your folder from the drop-down menu labeled Dropbox location.
Let Dropbox move your folder and its contents to its new location.
Important: Your Dropbox folder will keep the same name as before and can't be changed by using the move feature. Dropbox will not sync your Dropbox folder if it has been manually renamed or moved through your operating system. If Dropbox loses track of your Dropbox folder, it will attempt to re-sync the folder in its entirety using its last known location.
Dropbox for Business users: If you've connected a personal and a work Dropbox, you'll see both of your Dropboxes listed here. Select the correct toggle before moving the Dropbox folder location.
    For our advanced users
If you want to put your Dropbox folder on an external drive, proceed with caution:
The Dropbox folder must be available when your computer boots and before the Dropbox desktop application starts. Some USB drives, for example, take some time to mount before your computer recognizes them. The Dropbox desktop application could start before such a drive is ready and get confused. You'll receive an error and Dropbox will give you the opportunity to relink your Dropbox account or exit if it is unable to find your Dropbox folder.
If the external drive is disconnected from the computer while Dropbox is running, there's a small chance that the application will start deleting files before realizing that the entire drive has been removed. Again: When it comes to using an external drive for your Dropbox folder, tread carefully.

  • New MacBook Pro, Hard Drive Issue.

Alright. I'll try to provide as much info as possible here.
My old MacBook is a 13 inch Late 2008 MacBook Aluminum (non-pro) Unibody.
I just bought a new MacBook Pro, 13 inch, 2.9GHz, 750GB Hard Drive.
I had upgraded my old MacBook to a 1TB hard drive (Samsung HM100UI). I'd like to keep that old hard drive and use it in my new MacBook. However, every time I put that 1TB hard drive in my new computer, I get the "no entry" sign.
    I've tried..
Booting into the partitioned recovery mode.
Booting from a Lion Restore CD.
Reinstalling Lion on my old MacBook with the old hard drive and then putting the old hard drive in the new computer.
Formatting the entire hard drive (one-pass (on the old MacBook)) and putting it in the new computer (Then trying 1 & 2 again)
Resetting the PRAM, NVRAM, and SMC multiple times on both computers.
Every single time, I get the "no entry" sign.
Does anybody know what I can do to make this drive work in the new MacBook?
    edit: added #5

You can't just take that drive from the older system and install it in the new system. Even though both run Lion the Lion install on the older system does not have the correct driver set for the new hardware. In fact Apple came out with a newer version of Lion Just For these Newer System.

  • 80GB Classic not syncing to iTunes 9 on New MacBook Pro

I have owned my new 15" MacBook Pro for one whole week since my previous iBook screen display went out on me a few months ago. Extremely excited about my new purchase I carefully transferred items from an older external hard drive to a new external hard drive. I then decided it was time to update my iPod. Little did I know the mistake I was about to make.
After a bit of finagling I was able to transfer my old playlists into my new iTunes 9.0.3. Once I had double checked everything, I was ready to sync my 80GB iPod Classic (approx 2.5 years old.) I plugged in my iPod and hit Sync.
The process seemed to speed along even faster than it had on my old computer. With a music collection nearing 10,000 songs, my iPod had sync'd nearly 2/3rds of the files in just under an hour. While the new computer sat alone with the external hard drive and iPod attached, my iPod randomly ejected itself.
"Odd," I thought, "I was nowhere near my computer." I clicked okay on the 2 or 3 random error screens that followed only to have iTunes tell me my iPod was now corrupted. "Maybe it's the new computer and I just need to Restore my older iPod." I clicked Restore and a few minutes later everything appeared to be okay.
With a few more attempts, my iPod syncing was going nowhere fast (or slow I should say.) Rather than become completely frustrated, I disconnected everything and waited a few hours before trying to sync again.
36 hours ago I began the sync process again. When I left the house this morning, I had about 3,100 files sync'd to my iPod. Now it's only transferring between 100-150 files over an 8 hour duration. I am now becoming concerned for my hard drives and wondering if there will be any hope that my iPod will actually finish syncing.
Can anyone give me any advice? Should I stop the sync process? Should I find another program to run my iPod? Should I just use my iPod as an overpriced paper weight?
I have been a loyal Apple customer for years and have never seen this many people have a problem with no response from Apple. I am becoming very disappointed in a company I have trusted with my digital world for about 10 years. An immediate fix would be greatly appreciated.

    1. Your drive will retain the "dirty" status until it has been successfully scanned by a disk check utility.
    2. While there are a number of threads concerning this issue, which I've not personally experienced, I suspect that in comparison to the number of users this represents a tiny fraction of the overall user base. This is not to diminish your right to be frustated, but to point out that, while the problem is readily apparent to you, it may not be sufficently widespread to have come to the attention of Apple's iTunes team or present with enough regularity for them to determine the cause and hence begin the process of creating a fix.
Between our family, for example, we have 3 iPod classics, (1 two years old, 2 brand new), a Nano & a 30Gb ipod Video all of which sync fine. Assuming you get no joy with the steps I outlined earlier it might still be worth checking the status of your iPod's hard drive to eliminate that as a possible cause of problems.
Press *SELECT & MENU* for 6 seconds to reset the iPod then press *SELECT & REWIND* to enter the diagnostics screen. Select *Manual Tests > IO > HardDrive > HDD > HDDSMARTData*.
For comparison here are my results:
    Retracts: 861
    Reallocs: 12
    Pending Sectors: 0
    PowerOn Hours: 2097
    Starts/Stops: 856
    Temp: Current 29C
    Temp: Min 10C
    Temp: Max 50C
When finished press SELECT & MENU for 6 seconds to reset the iPod again. If you have any pending secorts that might indicate that there is a fundemental problem with your iPod's hard drive that, while not preventing you using the menus, is hampering iTunes when it tries to update the iPod.

  • New Macbook Pro hard drive crash after 9 months?  How to avoid it again...?

Hi - I've just had my hard drive replaced after it crashed - only after 9 months!!!!  How can this be?  I thought Macs were supposed to be more resilient and reliable?   I always kept the software up to date.
Is there anything I should be doing to avoid this happening again?
    - let the battery run down completely / always keep it charged and power source plugged in?
    - don't run too many programmes at once?
    - shut down completely rather than sleep mode?
If anyone has any tips / advice...otherwise I'm considering selling it.
    Thanks

  • New MacBook Pro Hard Drive Slow

On Monday night I was browsing the internet when my mid 2012 MacBook Pro started running slowly. I have never really had an issue with my Mac running slow and, so, after a particularly long spin of the rainbow wheel of death, I manually shut my computer down. When I tried to restart, all I got was the grey screen with the flashing folder-with-a-question-mark. I looked online with my phone to find a solution and I proceeded to try a number of suggestions from the support community, including trying to manually restart in safe mode, but as I didn't take my OS X installation disk to school with me, there wasn't much left for me to do (especially because I'm just over 3months outside the 1year warranty and live over an hour away from the nearest apple store). The next morning I took it to my college's OIT help desk and was later told my hard drive had failed and I would need to replace it. Thank god I utilize google drive for my work. Thank god. Today, after paying the $122.49 (no pitance on my part-time minimum-wage school salary) for the "apple recommended" hard drive, as opposed to the $55 amazon alternative, I find that my computer is running slowly again. Not even internet slow. 10-minutes-to-adjust-my-dock-preferences-slow. Writing-this-post-took-almost-an-hour-slow. Also, in the middle of writing this the spinning wheel of death reappeared for at least 10mins, and not wanting to manually restart given what happened last time I tried simply shutting my laptop and giving it a little nap. When I opened it I got a blue screen and (after a few minutes of silent sobbing) was forced to manually restart, which luckily brought me to the login. Why is my once-beloved Mac doing this to me? Is it the expensive new hard drive to blame? Has the issue from before held over and may soon kill this new drive? Any explanations or advice would be greatly appreciated as I have final exams and papers due next week and cannot afford to get to the apple store before I need to research and write two 15-page papers.

  • New Macbook Pro hard drive

I have a 2009 MackBook Pro and I want to replace the hard drive. What is a new/ best hard drive to purchase?

You will find afficianados and detractors for all brands of HDDs.  All I can tell you is that I have Seagate's, HGSTs and Toshiba's in my inventory and they are all spinning.
Go to the OWC website and look at the selection.  All of the SATA HDDs are compatible.  Make a selection, purchase from them or find another vendor and purchase from them  if the price is better.
If you get one with a greater capacity than the one you have, think in terms of backups.  If you use Time Machine, you really need a backup HDD that is at least as large as the internal HDD.
    Ciao.

I already tried going to "Get info" and "apply to enclosed items" but that doesn't work. I can copy over about 2gbs of music into my iTunes library but after that, it stops and I get the error. Please help. Any information that would lead to a solution would be great. Thanks!

  • Replacing New Macbook Pro Hard Drive

Im about to purchase a Seagate Momentus 7200.3 for my new MBP. My question is, will apple to the drive swap for me for free? Also will they migrate my old disk image to the the new drive, or will I have to reinstall OSX and migrate my files from a Time Machine backup?

The late-2008 models claim to have user replaceable hdds - finally!
As someone else said it isn't so easy with the previous gen., including the refreshed 17".
This doesn't mean you can't do it - but you would most likely void your warranty.
I did just this with my 12" PowerBook, putting in a 7200rpm hdd many years ago.
I followed instructions found on the web -- it isn't something I'd expect the average user would want to or be capable of doing -- but if you want to not only risk voiding your warranty, but risk damage to your system if you "make a mistake" it probably isn't impossible for some people.
My operation totalled a whole 3 hours because I was meticulously careful but I could have easily ruined the system. Still to this day after many years of daily use the PB is still going strong.
The performance gains from 4200rpm to 7200rpm were obvious & in my case battery life was not affected.
