ICal not syncing with Mac Pro running Lion

I installed Lion so I could sync all my devices. I don't see my iCal events on iCloud, and, naturally, they are not showing up on my iPhone, or my iPad. If I go the iCloud on in my prefrences panel, it just takes me to the website, where there doesn't seem to be settings for iCal activation. What to do?

On the iPhone and iPad tap Settings > iCloud
Switch Calendars off then back on then reset the devices.
Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home button down at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
On your Mac, open System Preferences > iCloud
Deselect the box next to Calendars then reselect then restart your Mac.

Anyone else?  When I use back to my mac, I can get access to the files on my desktop, BUT, I can't screen share.  Screen share is sleected in settings and everything I know to check is set up right.  Back to my Mac ir running on both machines using the same sign in.
    Any ideas?

Once you get yourself back to Snow Leopard, if you still want to upgrade somewhat, I would suggest the following:
    1. Get an external hard drive that you can use for experiments with new OS versions. You could partition it into 2 or 3 partitions. You could then clone your existing Snow Leopard system to one partition using Carbon Copy Cloner (well worth $40) or SuperDuper ($25).
    2. Buy OS X Mountain Lion for $20, through the Apple online store (I don't think it's available through the App Store). Apple has decided to make it very difficult for anyone to get Mavericks unless they have already downloaded it.
You will receive two e-mails from Apple, one containing a PDF with a redemption code, and one with the password you will need to unlock the PDF. Using the code, you will download Mountain Lion from the App Store, where it will appear among your Purchased items.
After ML finishes downloading, its installer app will launch itself. When you see this launch screen, QUIT the install app immediately! Go to your applications folder, find the Install OS X Mountain Lion app, and copy it to a safe location outside of your Applications folder. Keeping one or more copies will allow you to reinstall without unnecessary aggravation if you later need or want to do that. At this point, you can re-launch the Installer in the Applications folder and let it run. You can install it on a clean partition on your external HD, or you can allow it to upgrade the Snow Leopard clone you created on your external drive, or you can do both. This should allow you to test how everything works for as long as you like.
    3. If you left yourself a free partition on your test drive, try a clean install of Yosemite and set everything up from scratch (do not migrate anything). This will allow you to see whether your problems with it were related to something in your Snow Leopard system.

  • Ical not syncing with Mac.

I can't seem to get my ical to sync between my iphone and Mac.  I would like to use the restore however, whilst my itunes tells me it backs up to the computer I cannot locate the information.  I do not wish to use icloud

    Hi Tayfit -
I searched this question and found a solution that worked for me on another forum here. I use OS 10.6.8 on an iMac with Intel Core, and an iPhone 4. I do not wish to use iCloud for syncing either. I had many duplication problems when I attempted to use iCloud, in contacts and in ical, so I deleted for days and dropped the iCloud. My iPhone does seem to sync with iCal on the iMac, but the iMac calendars didn't all sync with the iPhone. I use iTunes to sync. Here is what I did:
In the folder /users/<---YOUR USERNAME--->/Library/Calendars, I deleted "Calendar Cache" and "Calendar Sync Changes" ....
That's all I did. I had tried the terminal reset option listed in the Apple Support questions, but that was to address the screw up post iCloud use, and that didn't fix my issue.
Best of luck. I hope this helps you.

  • IPhone iCal not syncing with Mac iCal

    Hi there.
When I create a new event on my iPhone in iCal, it doesn't appear on my mac's iCal.
    Anyone can help?
In settings, mail, contacts, calendars, I have "all events" for sync, yet I have that issue.
Thaks to anyone who can help

    Is this a Lion problem?
When I go to Systems Prefs> MobileMe> Sync (the list of items to sync) the Calendar options is in the list, then disappears. This looks like a bug to me. And yes, I can replicate it.

  • IPhone can not sync with Mac Pro

My new iPhone 3GS syncs happily with iTunes but when I use any third party sync it can see my MacPro and vica versa but they can not actually sync. Some example applications are 1Password, Hipporemote Pro, Pastebot. I have an iPhone 3G too, which I still use and does not have these problems. I can sync my new iPhone with my MacBookPro on the same applications. Any thoughts?

I seem to recall that when the Palm people tried jury rigging their phone to work with iTunes, Apple went to great lengths to loc them out so that only iTunes would work with the iPhone and more importantly, only an iPhone would work with iTunes.
Its entirely possible that the lockup created has stopped your third party apps from working with the iPhone.
Of course, as they are not Apple approved, then you probably shouldn't even ask questions about it here as its probably against the ToU.

  • My 2008 Mac Pro running Lion will not play HDV1080i60 footage in FCP 7. When I open the sequence settings, all HDV codecs are hdv1, hdv2, hdv3, and so forth. Anyone have any idea how to fix this?

My 2006 - 2008 Mac Pro running Lion will not play HDV 1080i60 footage in FCP 7. When I open the sequence settings, all HDV codecs are hdv1, hdv2, hdv3, and so forth. However, when I open the project on my other Mac Pro running Snow Leopard and FCP 6, the footage works fine as it does on my newer Imac running Mavericks and FCP 7. I have tried a Quicktime update on the Mac Pro that the footage doesn't work on but it says that I already have the newest version of Quicktime installed. I have also tried reinstalling the Final Cut Pro Studio twice, still no fix. I'm completely out of solutions and need to be able to edit HDV footage on this machine. Any help would be great. Thanks.

there was a recent software update that seemed to screw HDV up.  Do some searching here over the last month or 2 and you'll find a bunch of posts and some possible solutions.
Worst case scenario, do as Shane suggests.  But might I suggest you take a look at the user tips section of the forum.  there are some great tips on how to prevent these sorts of problems by cloning your startup drive, etc.

  • USB superdrive not working with Mac Pro

Is there a trick to getting a USB Superdrive working with a Macpro?
The drive in the Macpro no longer ejects and have tried connecting the USB drive to both the front and back ports - does it not work with Mac Pros?
Any pointers in the right direction would be much appreciated.

I had a problem my superdrive. It would play dvd's and cd's that were already burnt but would not burn blank DVDs or CDs- in the recent past it had no problems burning. In addition, the Finder would not display the superdrive. When I put a blank disc in it would go to Disk Utilities and would not allow burning. With help from Apple I discovered the problem-- The settings in CDS & DVDs had been changed from When you insert a blank DVD/CD "Ask what to do to  to  "GO to Disk Utilities". If this sounds like your problem try changing the settings to this:
Try going to; System Preferences/ CDs & DVDs
Change these two settings to this:
When you insert a blank CD: Ask what to do
When you insert a blank DVD: Ask what to do
NOTE: If they are already set to this you probably have a different problem. If they are set to Go to Disk Utilitiy this is probably a solution.
    And
    Then go to Finder Preferences
Make sure that under "Show these items on desktop:" that the checkbox for CDs, DVDs, and iPods is checked.
Try to burn the DVD again (reload Disc- perhaps restart) and try again.
Don't know how these setting changed but they did. It worked for me.

  • ICal still does not sync with exchange 2007 in Lion

    Dear,
In Snow Leopard, iCal was not syncing with Exchange 2007. I read a lot of things on this and it all led to recurring events. Indeed, after deleting them, things started to work. But I cannot delete recurring events! I need them!
Seeing that there was soo much talk on this all over on apple, I assumed that Apple would fix it. Instead, all we're seeing is some enhanced UI.
Can somebody at Apple please make sure that this thing finally gets fixed? Really, how hard can it be, knowing that the hardware based i devices can sync without any trouble?
Just for extra information, so you know what direction to look for:
I have Windows SBS 2008 in Dutch language. Timezone is Brussels. Exchange 2007 and all updates.
The system is running a self signed certificate
Outlook works fine on the Mac. I don't want to use Outlook on the Mac but am forced to at the moment.
Mail/Addressbook sync fine. Only Outlook doesn't!
I did try deleting recurrent events and this worked for a day. Basically stopped working I think when I added again those recurring events.
There are some errors in the console:
21/07/11 11:42:36,563 iCal: Couldn't find an NSTimeZone to match the SerializableTimeZone
21/07/11 11:42:36,563 iCal: WARNING: Failed to find TimeZone Identifier for Windows MeetingTimeZone: (GMT+01:00) Amsterdam, Berlijn, Bern, Rome, Stockholm, Wenen

    Please fix this,

    Hi all,
I do have exactly the same problem.
But I am adding a new flavor, but I can not understand it.
I've setup two Exchange calender connections. Both servers are inhouse. The setup of the Exchange servers are most likely the same.
But one works and one not! How could this be explained?
I like to express my deep disappointment about iCal and partly Apple Mail. It is unbelievable for me, that years after Apple's cooperation with Microsoft there are still such problems.
I like my Macbooks and I certainly have the absolutely full bandwidth of all Apple products in my household and companies. But I think I have to go back to Microsoft and Sony Laptops in the near future.
Although this kind of bugs are small one's, but the hurt constantly. Apple - please fix that.
Here just for the interested reader is my console error message:

  • ICloud not syncing with Outlook 2011 using Lion

My problem is bizarre and the more I seem to troubleshoot the worse it gets.  Since I only just bought my MacBook Pro, Lion was already installed.  I had an old MacBook and the transition was seemless until ICloud came along yesterday morning.  I signed up of course, as I knew I would eventually be forced to anyway and transitioned from MeMobile.  Now I have problems.  No sync between my Outlook 2011 and Address Book and ICloud.  I have been trying to find a solution and have tried the following:
    1. Deleted all the contacts in Address Book and reimported them from Outlook.  This worked fine and Address Book synced with ICloud.  However, when I made changes in Outlook, they would not sync with Address Book and thus not sync with ICloud.  The reverse was also true, i.e. changes and additions in ICloud or Address Book do not sync with Outlook.
    2. I shut down my computer and restarted.  Then I reset the sync services.  The result: All my Outlook Categories and Contacts appeared in Address Book along with all the contacts in ICloud.  When I click on all contacts, I get duplicates of course.  The interesting thing though is the contacts in "All on My Mac" tab in Address Book do not match those in ICloud and ICloud won't sync between the two.  So as a result, the problem above persists.  I still do not get any syncing between Outlook and ICloud/Address Book.  (This by the way was the case before I deleted everything from Address Book and imported everthing from Outlook......so I am exactly in the same place I was before I started troubleshooting........going in circles at this point in time).
By the way, everything works fine for e-mails.  However similar problem with ICal which has also doubled up on all info which was in ICloud and Outlook. I had a memobile account previous so ICloud just imported all that info I assume.  Also, everthing works fine between my IPhone and ICloud.  This is clearly an Outlook/Address Book Syncing problem.
    Any suggestions???

iCloud does not use Apple sync services and Outlook for Mac is not compatible with iCloud, but you should be able to get the mail working.

  • Why is my iCal not syncing with my iPhone and iPad?

After upgrading to iOS5 and all the iCloud things, my iCal is not syncing with my iPhone or my iPad.  I've tried all the setting, but cannot figure out what I'm doing or not doing that it won't sync.  I checked the Cloud and the calendar is there.  Can anyone help?

I had this problem, too. To reiterate, events on the iPad and iCloud were loading down into iCal on my Macbook Pro, but events I put on my MacBook Pro were not migrating back.
It comes down to which calendar the event is listed under. In iCal (right now) your default calendars are all local. If you change the event to an iCloud calendar, the migration is seamless. So, when you create an event, just scroll down in calendars, pick the iCloud equivalent to the "On my Mac" calendars (they're mirrored/duplicated) and it all works just fine.
    I hope that helps.

  • ICal not syncing with Exchange calender in OS X 10.10.2

iCal is not syncing with an Exchange-based calendar with the OSX 10.10.2 update on my 2012 Macbook Air.
Any calendar events added since the software update are not replicated to the main Exchange account, nor are new events made in other calendar programs replicated back to iCal. This includes calendar events made on the Apple Calendar app on an iPhone 6/iOS 8.1. iCal shows events made before the software update, just none after. Google Apps-based calendars in iCal are not effected, only Exchange-based ones.
I have deleted and re-authorized the Exchange calendar in the Calendar applications on the Mac and the iPhone, and this problem still exists. My workaround is to abandon iCal and to use BusyCal 2 for OSX, which does sync with the Exchange-based calendar. BusyCal 2 does sync with iPhone Calendar, so the issue is specifically iCal in 10.10.2
    1. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?
    2. Does anyone have a potential solution?
    Thanks in advance,
    Wayan

Hey everyone, thanks to this thread, we now have a solution. Or at least it worked for me.
    Clear Calendar Cache:
    1. Go to system preferences and open internet accounts. Selected the Exchange account and turn off calendar.
    2. Close iCal and any other calendar application you might have running
    3. In Finder, go to HD/Users/User Name/Library/Calendars and delete the Calendar Cache files (may need to empty Recycle Bin)
    4. Restart iCal, which will rebuild the caches
    5. Turn on your Exchange calendar
