ICal on iPad

Why when entering an event on iCal using iPad do I not have the option as using an email as an alert for that scheduled event ?

It isn't iCal on an iPad. The iOS calendar app is named Calendar.
Regardless, there isn't an option for an email as an alert for a scheduled event because Apple hasn't included the option for whatever their reason.
I have never used email as an alert for a calendar event - not when an alert can be provided with my computer, iPhone, and iPad without depending on receiving an email. I can be alerted with a calendar event on my iPhone and iPad with both being in Airplane mode without internet access.

  • Why do my events change in the day view, when I create a new event? (iCal for iPad 2)

Every time I create a new event in the day view in iCal on iPad, the other events (which I created before for the same day) change their starting and/or their ending time.
    Please help!

    monkeyde,
You are getting entagled in the two confusing meanings of the term pixels, namely as a unit identical to points and equalling 1/72 inch, and the basic component of raster images (and effects).
You can read on in this very recent thread:
Is there a way to get Illustrator to know how many pixels are in an inch?

  • Why I can't delete an item in iCal on iPad 2?

Why I can't delete an item in iCal on iPad 2? The user manual says: click on the item, choose 'Edit' or something like that and then 'Delete'.
But clicking on the item only shows the details and not any window for Editing the item.
I wanted to delete an item in a calendar that is synchronized via Google.
    Thanks for help!

If you are In the "Day"view in the calendar app, tap on the event  and a window opens up with a red "Delete Event" button at the bottom of the window. Tap that button and then another "Delete Event" button pops up. Tap that to delete.
In the week view, tap the event and then a window pops up with "Edit" in it - it is in the upper right corner of that window - tap edit, and then repeat the process described above.
I do not use the Google calendar and maybe the way you have that set up will not allow you to do this directly on the Calendar app on the iPad.

  • ICal on iPads occasionally not syncing

My partner and I use iCal on iPads to make bookings and we share the same Apple ID to sync the calendars. Usually this works fine, however occasionally one of my bookings is duplicated on mine so I delete one entry but then my partner doesn't see anything on his in this time slot so he ends up booking something else in and we double book appointment times. Why is this?

    Hello Janice,
It sounds like the iCloud calendar is not syncing between your iPad and iMac.  I recommend following the steps in the sections titled "General troubleshooting," "Troubleshooting on iOS devices," and "Troubleshooting on OS X" in the following article to assist with syncing your calendar events between your devices:

  • How to sync iCal on iPad to Outlook 2011 on MacBook.

Has anyone tried to sync iCal on iPad to Outlook 2011 for Mac. I'm having trouble getting my new MacBook, iPad, and Blackberry to all be on the same page. Everything I'll tried seems to only work on iCal and not the Outlook calendar. I've tried the info page in iTunes when the iPad is connected but it only shows iCal in the calendar sync options and my Blackberry only syncs to iCal. When I get meeting requests in Outlook they don't show in iCal. I'm basically carrying two calendars. Any help would be greatly appreciated. It's been driving me crazy.

You can have the calendar on your iPad, and iCal on your Mac use Outlook calendars, if your business has the Exchange server set up correctly. In both cases, you need to add your Outlook email account as an Exchange account (in Settings on iPad, in mail.app on Mac). Once completed, the two calendars will not sync back and forth with one another, but you can view both of them in iCal and on the iPad, as well as create events and respond to invitations.
The big caveat - if you business or school has their Exchange server set up for this type of access. Many do.

  • ICal for iPad limitarions

iCal for iPad does not allow to invite atendees!! Any potential solution?

I can confirm: I have just bought the iPad 2.
You CAN NOT send invites from iCal using your iPad nor can you accept ANY invites.
Yes you can. If you are using Microsoft Exchange or MobileMe it works fine.
Apple does not stand alone in this world. They have great products but have to come to the realisation that business people need and require the basics to work seamlessly every time.
Say what you wish: Microsoft have the Business Community wrapped-up because of instances such as this.
No. It's mostly because the majority of people will put up with mediocrity (or less).
Also, since the "Business Community" is all wrapped up in MS, Apple directly integrated MS Exchange support in all their products to include the ipad, iPhone and iPod touch.
Then again, if MS had it "wrapped up", Apple would not need to integrate anything because their products would not be used.

  • ICal for iPad 3 always crashes when I go to March

Whenever I navigate to March 2013 in iCal for IPad 3 (iOS 6.0.1) using the scroll bar at the bottom of the screen, ICal crashes. It doesn't happen with any other month.
Surely this has to be a bug?

It seems it is a bug, caused by my having a whole day appointment on April 1st! I've shifted that appointment to April 2nd and March now opens fine.

  • ICal on iPad - how do I change the time the day starts?

On the iPad iCal, the day starts at 12am, and there's a scrollbar for scrolling through the 24 hours of the day. I pretty much won't have any events before 8am, so I want to customize my calendar so that the day starts at 8, and I can see a lot more of the day instead of having to scroll alllll the way down to 8am. The way it is right now, if I go into week or day view, it'll start up at 12am and I'll have to scroll down to view most of my events.
Thanks in advance for any answers - apologies by the way if this has been asked and answered before, I'm not quite sure how to search for discussion topics inside a community.

I have been searching as I have the same question - When my ICal comes up each morning on my, I would like the screen view to begin at 8 am.  I am thinking that it is not possible to do this from what I have been able to find but just wanted to check it out to be sure I cannot do this!  Thanks for any assistance someone can give me!
Although I see the question by Sixthrain and clicked on the Latest Reply, nothing came up.
PS  I have a laptop, not an IPad.

  • Deleting New Event in iCal on iPad

Unwittingly, I have "entered" a "New Event" in iCal on my iPad 2.  I would like to delete it but haven't been able to do so.
Does anyone know how I can delete the "New Event"?
I would appreciate your help and suggestions.
    Thanks.
    Vernon

    1. Click on an event.
    2. A bar with a dot on then let side, the name of the evet, and a hardly visible small edit button on the right side will appear.
    3. Click the edit button: the edit window will open.
    4. Scroll down to the large red Delete Event button.
    5. Click the Delete button.
New iPad, latest IOS. I do not see the Trash icon mentioned in the other post. Maybe an earlier IOS.

  • Daylight savings all-day events issues in updated iCal for iPad

After purchasing new MBP, Genius Bar told me to update to new iCal. I have noticed that any all-day events taking place on the date that daylight savings begins (3/13/11 i.e.) lasts on iPad's iCal for two days. When I attempt to edit, event still displays for two days. Guessing it is because that day technically lasts for only 23 hours. Genius Bar consultant had no suggestions for a remedy. This error appears for 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 daylight savings beginning dates. The error doesn't seem to be a problem for the MBP or my iPhone.

I've experienced the same problem.  I set up a recurring one day event on the first of each month - come April 1 in 2012 the event is spread over 2 days (the end of daylight savings time in Australia) from April onwards.  I can muck around with the event and have it set at one day from April1 onwards in 2012 but there's a recurring event bug related to daylight savings.  I wonder if any alarms people have set for that day will again experience the problems from the past?

  • Duplicate Calendars in iCal on iPad

    Hi there,
I have two versions of all my calendars on my iPad. I use MobileMe, and tried unchecking Sync iCal Calendars from the info tab in iTunes, but they still duplicate. I'd like to get rid of these duplicates. Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

This means you are syncing calendars over the air with your MobileMe account on your iPad and syncing calendars direct with iCal via the iTunes sync process. Doing both duplicates the calendars on your iPad.
Under the Info tab for your iPad sync preferences with iTunes, deselect Sync Calendars followed by selecting Apply.
On your iPad, go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
    Select your MobileMe account.
Turn Calendars off for over the air syncing. A warning message will be provided indicating this will erase the calendars downloaded from and being kept synchronized with your MobileMe online calendar along with a prompt to save the calendars locally on your iPad. Decline this prompt.
This will not erase the calendars on your iPad synced direct with iCal via the iTunes sync process.
Follow this by turning Calendars back on for over the air syncing with your MobileMe account on your iPad. You will be provided a merge prompt, which you want to select.
This will get rid of the duplicates.
The same applies to contacts if you are doing the same with contacts.

  • Microsoft Exchange shared calendars through iCal on iPad or Mac

This is surely not an original question, but -
My company uses Microsoft Exchange.  I have synced it to my iPad for calendar, contacts, and email, and it works very well.
We also use shared calendars, and I utilize this feature often via Outlook on my PC.  However ...
    1.  I'd like to be able to view MS Exchange shared calendars on iCal on my iPad.  Is this possible?  Obviously, no one will grant me permission to view their contacts or emails, but calendar-only is what we share.  Is this possible?
    2.  Is it possible to view MS Exchange shared calendars through iCal on a Mac?  I have a colleague who has an iMac with iCal synced to Exchange and it works great.  However, we do not know how to view shared calendars (from MS Exchange) through iCal.  Again, we want to share calendars-only - no email or contacts.  Can anyone help with this?
    THANKS SO MUCH FOR HELP.
    Jeff

Apple does not support public folders of the type "mail" for their Apple Mail,iCal and Address Book

  • How do i get ical from iPad to my mac?

I have several calendars on my ipad which i want to sync back to my macbook pro -- however when i do a sync nothing happens.  calendar appear on my ipad but ical on my mac is blank.

    Hi...
however when i do a sync nothing happens
Your Mac and iPad have to be able to sync using Wi-Fi using iCloud to sync your calendars.
Your Mac must be running v10.7.2 in order to setup iCloud >  Apple - iCloud - Learn how to set up iCloud on all your devices
If you have a MobileMe account, be aware those services are terminating June 30th, 2012 >  Information about the MobileMe transition
Apple - MobileMe - MobileMe transition and iCloud

  • Add event to iCal on iPad

I can't figure out how to add an event to iCal on my iPad. Just updated OS and synced to iCloud now there doesn't seem to be an option.

    Jayne,
You should see a icon on the bottom right of the Calendar window. Is that missing in your display? Apple - iPad 2 - See your day, week, month, or year in a glance.
