Ical on iweb

Currently I use a HTML Snippet to publish our schools music calendar page on the web. I would like to find a way to post a running daily events calendar on the home page using the same calendar. Anyone have any thoughts on this? The view I am looking for is at the bottom of the month view when looking at a calendar online.

I don't see what you're referring to about the bottom of the calendar in the month view. I have an iCal calendar embedded in a web page here: iCal calendar.
What's the URL of your calendar so we can see what you're referring to?
You might consider using a Google calendar which has an Agenda mode that could list events. A demo is here: Google calendar. Click on the Agenda button.

  • Ical to iweb: monthly view

I managed to embed my iCal into iWeb, but I can't seem to get rid of the mini months on the side or get it to publish in "month" view instead of "weekly" view. Any suggestions of how to correct this problem?
    Thanks

You can't. There's no option on the published calendar to get rid of the mini months. You could use a Google calendar which doesn't have mini months like in this demo page: Google calendar.
There's also an application, Spanning Sync 3 that will sync iCal calendars with Google calendars. For other methods see:

  • ICal into iWeb?

is there a way to import an iCal calendar into a website using iWeb? I've searched the support sites and have tinkered around with both programs but can't find out how to get my calendar on my website. Thanks for any help.

    Hi
Check out the following link http://iwebfaq.org/site/iWeb_Calendar.html for info concerning the addition of iCal or Google calendars using iWeb

  • ICal to iWeb?

It seems this ought to be built in but I can't find anything relating to it. Am I missing something that is totally simple? I just want to show my performance dates on my iCal in my iWeb site. What am I missing?

Publish your iCal calendar. Either to MobileMe or your own server.
Then use the browser link to embed the calendar in iWeb with the HTML Snippet.
Use the <iframe> to accomplish that :
    <iframe src="http://url.to.calendar.html" frameborder="0" width="500" height="500" scrolling="no" allowTransparency="true"></iframe>

  • How can I embed an iCal into iWeb in the new Lion OS/Cloud setup?

I have found information on how to do this in the old software, but nothing on how to embed an iCal into my website (using iWeb) with the newest OS.  "Publish" no longer exists.

If iCal can not publish a calendar, then with or without iWeb, the calendar is not available.
Find another calendar, such as Google's :

  • Embed iCal into iWeb through HTML snippet after Lion OSX update

How do I embed my published iCal calendar into iWeb through an HTML snippet AFTER the Lion OSX update last month? I use iWeb to create my classroom website but it no longer has my interactive calendar for my students. Help!

I am curious about this too, does anyone know how to embed a Lion iCal Calendar into iWeb?
I found an old walkthrough of how to do it, but on the published site it just opens ical and offers a subscription, you cannot actually see the calendar on the web page it is embedded on.
    Thanks!

  • ICal in iWeb

    hi folks,
i was hoping someone could give me some advice on how to include a calendar in iweb. i'm creating a website for a cancer group and would like to include a caledar under the events tab. i already know how to publish a caledar from ical but would like to have it appear in a window on the site with my site colors as the background around the calendar. i think i would need to include it in a frame or someting to that effect. not quite sure how to do that. i have the site tentatively published at:
    http://web.mac.com/adamski007/iWeb/Colorectal/Home.html
not all tab buttons are working yet.
thank you in advance for your thoughts,
    adam

    <iframe src="http://ical.mac.com/YourUserName/YourCalendar" width="700" height="1000" scrolling="yes" border="0" style="border:none;" frameborder="0"></iframe>
Above is the frames code that you need to add into your iWeb page in order to make the calendar show up. Of course you'll replace the URL with whatever your own calendar URL is. You can also change the width and height to best display your calendar.
First, though, you have to insert a textbox (of the same dimensions as indicated in the frames code) onto your iWeb page and type some placeholder text into the textbox so that you will be able to find it when you look in the HTML code. Don't format the text or change the font or anything...just click in the textbox and type your placeholder text. Then publish the page. Then find the .html file associated with your iWeb page. Open it in TextEdit (be sure to tell TextEdit to "ignore rich text format" in the preferences first). Then scan the raw html code for your placeholder text. You should see it between these brackets, like this...
    ....>placeholdertext<....
Replace the placeholder text with your frames code so that you get this...
    ....>framescode<....
Then hit save (not save as...just save!). That should do it.

  • Can't publish iCal in iWeb after updating.

I recently updated to the new iCal but now I am unable to publish my calendar to my web site through iWeb? Help me please.

If the files are in your sites folder, then iWeb will never be able to open them because they contain your published site.  iWeb has no import facility so is unable to open html pages - a previously published site.
You need the data storage file called domain.sites to be able to access your site again.  This can be found under User/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites.  Find this file and double click it and iWeb will open it.
Note that you need to look in your User Library and not your System Library, as you won't find iWeb there.

  • Ical with iWeb

can't edit the calende from ical for iwebsite , and it has the little icon next to it that says it's sharing!

I think you have to copy your calendar to the server. But it only takes a second.
As for a stylesheet, it has a folder of templates that you can modify: header.tpl, admin.tpl, calendar.tpl etc. (i changed the header.tpl - and it is changed on all the pages).
All the template files seem to be built nested within each other so that you only have to change it once.
There is also a default.css file in there.

  • Ical, iweb won't open

I have recently purchased a 2011 macbook pro. It was an open box/demo at Best Buy and did not have the "restore" discs with it. I upgraded from an older macbook pro, transferring my files via firewire. Everything worked fine. Then I swapped the memory between the two units, to bring the new macbook up to 8G. After upgrading the memory, most everything works fine, but iCal, and iWeb will not open and give an error upon trying to launch. I cannot reinstall the applications, since I do not have the original discs. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you in advance!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Try deleting the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that's located in your User/Library/Preferences folder. Often a file will get damaged or corrupted and prevent the application from launching. Worth a try.

  • Frames in iWeb?

I would like to have an iCal that I have published on .mac appear in my website that I have created with iWeb. Outside of iWeb I would have this done with frames but I'm not sure how I would do this with iWeb. Any help would be appreciated.

  • ICal OSX Leopard Server - My Solution!!

    Hello...
Over the past 5 days I have reinstalled (clean/formatted) Leopard Server 6 times. I thought I was going crazy. Every error that has been seen on iCal (for the most part) I have seen (permission errors, 220 error, missing virtual accounts, no principals, etc, etc). I must have read 300 posts with different possible solutions. Some say you need ODS, and some say no. Some say you need DNS running, and some say not. Just like most of these forum posts, if you fix one error, you will get another one that will eventually stop you in your tracks. So out of respect for all those that have tried before me to get iCal working, I would like to offer what worked for me.
Here is the scenario. I have a small office - 10 users (all Mac). They want to share calendars (no group calendars here). OSX 10.5.2 Server on a Mac Mini. That's it... all I have asked for (for 5 days now) is a simple working sharable calendar system.
Here you go - this is what I know works.
    1) New install of OSX Server 10.5 (in my case 10.5.2) - Erase drive and install
    2) Installed as a Standard (yes I said standard server option)
    3) DNS hostname at time of install is made up (this company has no domain) - so i set it to server.madeupdomain.com (remember the domain does NOT exist anywhere - it is just to get past the hostname validation during install). Make sure to enable iWeb and iCal of course.
    4) Once the server is installed, I built my subscribers
    5) By default, iCal and iWeb are enabled.
    6) I DID NOT INSTALL the 10.5.3 upgrade!!!!!! On the other 5 installs, I DID install 10.5.3 and could never get iCal working.
    7) Open up iCal and there should already be a CalDev calendar built under the server name. (there was for me anyway). I went into the account, selected server settings and changed the host and domain for the Account URL to the IP address of the server (this is all that I changed). So my Account URL now looks like this: http://ipaddress:8008/principals/uids/83xxxxxxxxxx....
    8) Under Delegation, I added users under Manage Access to My Account
    9) I went to the user's client iCal, and clicked on Calendar / Subscribe and put in: http://ipaddress*:8008/calendars/users/*username/calendar/
    10) the calendar subscribed and I was able to see the calendar and make changes.
Keep in mind that this is all that the client wanted. So, this is what I know worked for me. Good Luck... in my opinion skip 10.5.3 if you can... and we can all say a prayer for 10.5.4.
    -mountainzone

How big is the volume you're sharing.
Most Windows systems have problems with very large volumes (>2TB)). If your volume is larger than this limit then it may appear with incorrect size/space available.
I believe there are versions of Samba that support >2TB volumes, but I haven't check what version Apple ship in Leopard.

  • "you do not have appropriate access privileges" - WHAT??

I did something to corrupt the operating system on my MAC G5. I had some things I really didn't want to loose on the main hard drive specifically - my iCAL, my iWeb, and my email. I had some other things on the desktop also.
A friend helped me to recover the system. Their suggestion was to copy all my main USER files onto an external drive, reformat the MAC Hard drive and then copy the USER file over to the machine again using the same short name I did before and setting that account to be an Admin.
I did that and now when I try to write to the internal hard drives I get the message "you do not have appropriate access privileges" or file error access denied. But I can write to any of the external hard drives.
I cannot figure out how to fix this. I deleted the USER/USER NAME (my old one)/Library/Keychain/login/login key and that didn't solve the problem.
Could it be that I need to reseat the internal hard drive??? or do I need to do something under keychain for the main computer and not the two user files I have in there now??
I was trying to do something really simple like copy a jpg file someone sent me to the internal HD and it wouldn't let me.
I appreciate your help. Every time I have posted a question, someone has helped and I really appreciate it. I searched the database for a similar problem but couldn't find it.

If you still have the User folder you copied to the external, instead of dragging it back which I think is causing problems with permissions, how about reinstall your OS using the Install disks on the internal, and then from their respective applications import just those particulars you wanted to keep.
For example if you dragged back the file com.apple.Mail.plist back to its home location in ~/Library/Preferences your Mail should connect as before. Then, in Mail you can then import your externally copied Mailboxes.
That's how I would have gone about it if it was a case of scavenging what I could of a corrupted boot drive. Maybe you can still do it this way.
Dragging a (User) folder onto an OS won't satisfy the OS that this is a valid user, rather just a confusing thing to deal with. I know it seems a simple thing to do but the OS just doesn't get it. It prefers having the User account set up in itself, and then it knows about it.

This, as you know, was pretty complicated.
But The Rever never got the "Lost Connection" error.
And he had updated iTunes quite a while ago.
All he got was the spinning ball.
And most of his Apple iApps spun, as well.
In the middle of all this, he reinstalled Word.
By that time, he had most likely compounded his font conflicts tremendously.
When iCal, iTunes, iWeb, iMovie all spin, and the OP can even open accounts,
it could very well be fonts piling up on each other. The absence of the "Lost Connection" error led me to concentrate more on fonts, rather than the now infamous iTunes glitch.
You, andy & Starman are all doing a fabulous job of helping people here. It's great to see.

  • Getting Sluggish

I purchased a MacBook (Intel Duo Core 2.0 Ghz) back in July. Since purchasing it I can't help noticing that the computer is running considerably more sluggish. I have 33 GB of free hard disk space and aren't running too many resource hungry programs (programs I use are Mail, iCal, iPhoto, iWeb, GarageBand, Sibelius, iTunes, PhotoBooth, Dashboard, Pages, MS Word, MS Excel, Keynote, Firefox) and I can't help notice over the past few weeks the computer seems to be running considerably slower than usual. Is it perhaps the new OS? Are there any tips someone can give me to speed up this computer and make it a little snappier again?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

There's a free program you can download called Onyx which is wonderful for cleaning up and maintaining your system. You can find it at http://www.titanium.free.fr/pgs2/english/download.html
I've found that iPhoto can suck up my resources pretty quickly, and the MS Office programs always tend to open and close much more slowly than the others (probably because they aren't Universal). Periodically repairing permissions, emptying the trash, and clearing out various caches seems to help. (You don't really need Onyx to do that, but it organizes all of the various maintenance tasks into a very simple to use package that you can run when you want to. Obviously you'd want to familiarize yourself with what each of the tasks does before tinkering too much.)
