ICal on .mac start page

Okay, this confuses me:
- you can create a group and for that group select a (published) iCal calendar to display in the small calender view on the group page.
then, why isn't it possible to do the same on my .mac "root" homepage??
Am I missing something here?

Calendar's don't currently display on .Mac home pages. I suspect it might be coming as it only makes sense. Post the Feedback to Apple if you want this feature.

  • IWeb site not in .Mac start page

My site used to be in the .Mac home page but I changed the name (just took out 2 underscores) and my site is no longer there. I tried to look on "homepage" but it isn't there either. I "Published to .Mac" and I can log into the site but it isn't visible from .Mac home.

I see. Well, I guess give it some time to show up again in the .Mac homepage. I'm sure it will.
If you are really into counting hits and would like to see the wealth of information that can be gathered on your visitors (and also be able to visit your own page without getting counted), you might like to check out http://www.statcounter.com and add the free counter code to all of your pages.
This takes a little bit of HTML editing, but you can automate this process with a program called iComment or MassReplaceIt.

  • Putting iCal on .Mac welcome page

Is there any way to publish my calendar to the same .Mac welcome page where my mail, contacts are accessible? There is a calendar there. It would be great if it was mine! (I am referring to the page you get when you click .Mac in Safari, and the little "home" house. Not my home page.
I would just like to be able to access my info from one page, and not have to type in a different URL if I am at a computer away from home.
    Thanks.

I've also wanted this feature, but I don't think .Mac allows it.
It doesn't make sense for them to not have this feature. I know it would be very time consuming to develop a system that features calendars (individual and groups) when you log into the initial .Mac page, but for the amount of money we pay for .Mac it would be a useful addition.
    Apple, are you listening?!?

  • Counter Report on .Mac home page

The counter to the home page of one of my sites works, however, it does not display on the Apple .Mac Welcome page in the My Pages report section. This has been a handy feature for monitoring hits. But it no longer reports this particular page, though it has more hits than all the others. Ideas? I've tried reposting the page.

Actually, the .Mac start page shows separate counters for both my top 5 .Mac sites and what is SUPPOSED to be my top 5 iWeb sites. The problem is that sometime in the recent past, that .Mac page decided to restart itself from, say, 5 posts ago to now instead of taking into account ALL my pages.
I can still go and check manually, but, since I'm not hosting any ads, it's more for curiosity than anything else and isn't worth that much trouble If it was fixed, though, then I'd have a better idea of what kind of projects people would like to see.

  • Once I access email either on start page or from email page, I can not back up without restarting Firefox, Mac OS 10.4.11

Email from start page won't open more than one time, once I go back it won't open again no matter how many times I click on it.
Email from email page won't back up once opened. It only goes back to start page after multiple clicks. Running Mac-Mini with OS 10.4.11.

re "Apple should have the control panel report the proper IP address"
On clicking Personal web sharing, you get information to the effect:
View this computer’s website at http://10.1.1.4/ or your personal website at http://10.1.1.4/~user/
This is wrong to a user. Others could not enter this URL and get access to the website using this information. This is what I meant by "wrong"--its NOT the IP address that the user should use to view/use the web site. The software already knows its using DHCP, etc., so it should know to present the modem's IP and from memory in the past it did. As a wrote earlier, I used to be able to just copy the IP address given.
What Apple probably need are two statements:
To view this computer’s website from the local network use ...
To view this computer’s website from the internet use ...
Even, then I'd question the use of 10.1.1.4.

Try each of these in order until one works:
Open App Store and click on your Purchases tab. If you're prompted to accept them, then do so.
Put the old ones into the Trash, temporarily. Open App Store and see if you can download them for free from their individual product pages. If asked to buy them, see the next option.
Click here, contact Apple, and wait for a response.
You will have to purchase them using your Apple ID.

  • Apple Start page no longer works with Safari 1.3.2?

I just set up an iBook G3 with Mac OS X 10.3.9, with all updates, and opened Safari, which is set to got to the Apple Start page initially:
    http://www.apple.com/startpage
Safari loads the page, but two areas are blank: the "Hot News Headlines" in the middle of the page, and the "iTunes Movie Trailers" on the left side. No content appears in these areas. If I click on the "All" next to "Hot News Headlines" a page of html-code text appears.
When I load this page in Firefox or Camino, these areas have the expected content: text in "Hot News Headlines" and a picture in "iTunes Movie Trailers".
I know Safari 1.3.2 is pretty old now, and cannot be upgraded to anything later, since it's integrated with 10.3.9; for this reason I recommend using a more current browser such as Camino or Firefox with this System. But I was just wondering: has anyone else seen this behavior? Is Apple's own web page now too much for Safari 1.x to handle?

    Hi HandyMac,
Yes, Safari v1.3.2 is quite dated by today's standards. And yes, the Apple StartPage doesn't work for me either 100% on Safari v1.3.2.
Most Panther users have migrated to Camino. FireFox 2 is no longer updated for Panther either.
On Panther I use Opera and SeaMonkey.

  • Safari doesn't open in start page

    Hi everybody,
since I have installed Mac OS X Lion, Safari doesn't open in start page. It opens always at the last page I was at least. What can I do?

    Try this:
    Open ‘System Preferences’
Locate and open the ‘General’ menu
Near the bottom uncheck the box that says “Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps”

  • I can't seem to update icloud's calendar via my iPhone's calendar. Also, iCal on Mac follows iCloud so when I sync iPhone to Mac it becomes a even more confusing situation...

Pardon my ignorance. I have scoured the forums and no one seem to touch on the exact subject I am talking about.
I can't seem to update iCloud's calendar via my iPhone's calendar with all connectivity turned on (sync, push, pull, slap whatsoever).
Also, iCal on Mac follows iCloud (sluggishly and not due to connection problem, so i'd nice to have a status bar telling me whether or not it's active and doing some updating) so when I sync iPhone to Mac it becomes a even more confusing situation...
    Simplified version:
-Events created on the iphone doesnt get on icloud.
-When iphone is synced with ical on mac and changes are made on Mac, changes are not immediately reflected on iphone unless clicked "sync"
-I just want to view a live ical at all times without going to safari and opening up the web iCal. I want to view a 100% live iCal on the native iCal via iPhone. Like google docs! Is that too much to ask!?
Iphone seemed to have a "push" or "sync in this many minutes" option for iCal, but that seemed like it's only receiving changes, and not send out changes made via phone. Very confusing, very annoying!

Download iTunes using the tab at the top of this page. Then run the update with iTunes closed.

  • Macbook Pro only get IIS7 start page not start page on Sharepoint

    Hello fellow SharePointers
We have a SharePoint 2010 environment in our house. Mostly used for Intranet. We allso have all on Windows 7 and other Microsoft products.
    J
But we have 2 macs, and they cannot connect to the intranett.
I have edit the host on the Macbook Pro to 11.11.11.11                              intranet.domain.local
I have allso used the FQDN intranet.domain.local in Safari, but I only get the IIS7 start page / logo.
What am I doing wrong J

Yes, that is what I meant... :)
pointed the intranet.domain.local name to the same IP address as your DNS entry is correct.

  • Event invitations not published to .mac web page with rest of calendar

I've published a calendar to the .mac web server successfully, and the web page for the named calendar shows up fine in browsers at the appropriate URL.
However, when I receive an invitation from somebody else, and accept it, and put it into that (published) calendar, that event does NOT get published to the web page. Any idea why?
    Example
    - Joe uses Google Calendar to invite me to a meeting
    - Google calendar sends me a .ics file in email
    - I open the .ics file (click in Apple Mail, which launches iCal)
    - I view the invitation in iCal; then change the status to "Accepted" (from Invited), and change the Calendar for this event to the Calendar I've published on .mac
    - (iCal properly notifies Joe via a reply .ics via email that I've accepted)
    - iCal is properly updating my schedule on .mac for all other events besides this meeting invitation; but the meeting invitation does not get pushed to the .mac web page for my calendar
Item of note: In this use case, I am NOT the event Organizer; somebody else is. Is this why iCal doesn't do it? Or is there something I'm not setting correctly in iCal? Or...?
This renders .mac-web-published calendars effectively useless, since a good share of my calendar is made up of people who email me .ics invitations, and (for various reasons) the person who manages my schedule has to use the .mac web UI for my calendar to know when she can dish out my time. (She doesn't actually put things in my schedule; just allots time.)

  • Viewing a document created on ios on my Mac with Pages 5.0 wihtout sharing via icloud?

I have Pages 5.0 on my ios device and Mac. When I create a document on my Mac in Pages it will automatically appear on my Pages app on my ios. But when I create a docuemnt on my ios it will not generate on my Mac. I'm pretty sure it used to do this before 5.0.
I know I can share my documents via icloud and pull it up on my browser, but I don't want to have to edit documents on my browser. I'd imagine there has to be a way of just using the Pages app and Pages on my Mac. Is there not a way to pull up the documents I created on Pages on my iso on Pages on my Mac?
It sounds like there have been problems with the upgrade to 5.0. As I mentioned, I believe that it used to automatically generate  documens created on my ios on my Mac when my computer would start. Is this soemthign I could solve to downgrading. Or am I not doing something correctly?

It seems as though your documents are syncing to iCloud properly but don't seem to be making their way to your Mac.
Have you tried disabling pages in your iCloud settings, restarting your Mac then re-enabling pages in iCloud.

  • Firefox start page disappeared from bookmark list and now I can't put it back. Whats going on?

HP win 7 machine. Use firefox to open Charter email: no problem. Recently, my gmail acct (which I use infrequently) has appeared as my default , which I do not prefer, but cannot seem to change. While on the Charter email page, today, I tried to access Forefox start from my bookmark menu. It disappeared from the bookmark list. Got to the start page through a different route, but it would not bookmark at all.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: command+Shift+F).

  • I would update to the new version of Firefox but I like my big Google Firefox start page. Don't think I'll have that with the new version and I don't want to give it up.

I love my start page. It's nice and big with the Google search engine bar and Firefox earth symbol attached. I'm positive that the new version of Firefox will cause me to lose this particular start page so I refuse to do the update. If I download the new version and this happens I won't know how to get it back (tho' I did do it once and lost the start page so I went back into my Mac time machine and got the old version back. I was so relieved.) Thank you.

If I recall correctly, you are talking about the default start page. To check if this is correct, type '''about:home''' in the awesome bar. If this is the same as your homepage, it will still be there when you update.
