ICal on Mavericks is unable to delete events on my CalDav calendar

Dear Apple Support Community,
if somebody else experience the same problem: iCal that comes with Mavericks is unable to delete event on a shared CalDav-based calendar (creating a new and editing works). Any help appreciated.
Regards

Hi joelee42,
If you are having issues with your iPhone's Calendar application becoming unresponsive or quitting when your attemp to delete an event, you may want to try some things to troubleshoot.
First, quit all running applications and test again -
Force an app to close in iOS
Next, I would try restarting and if needed resetting the iPhone -
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If the issue is still present, you may want to restore the iPhone as a new device -
How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • ICal and iPod - can't remove triplicate events in iPod's calendar - why?

I've got iTunes set to sync Address Book and iCal with my iPod 60G Video unit. In iCal, I have 2 calendars - School and Home and I've only have a few events on a few days accross several months. In my iPod Calendar, it displays both calendar folders correctly, but when I view "school", it shows events in triplicate and for every day; However, in iCal, it's as I want it.
I've tried deleting files from my iPod, deleting p.list prefs for iCal etc, backing up iCal to my documents folder and dragging that to my iPod -- none of which worked. I also opened the iPod version of my Calendar events and used it to update my iCal events and then disconnected the iPod. I removed the triplicate events from iCal and saved it to backup, then reconnected my iPod to update the "corrected" calendars via iTunes. But still, when I connect my iPod and boot iTunes, it updates with triplicate events of my school calendar. I've got my prefs in iTunes set to update both calendars (school and Home). What am I not doing? Any ideas?

I don't have an answer - but I'm having a similar problem: my entries are repeating everyday on my iPod even though they're only single day events in iCal

  • Unable to delete the meeting invitation from Calendar stored in Public Folder - exchange 2010

I assume the specific entry (meeting invitation) is corrupted, due to which we are unable to delete the meeting either from outlook or OWA. Is there any possibility to delete that calender invitation from reoccuring?

    Hi,
For further troubleshooting, I would like to collect some information
Is there any error when trying to delete the meeting invitation from calendar?
If the calendar is not stored in the public folder, is it possible to delete the meeting in this calendar?
Does this issue occur on one user or multi-users?

  • Events attachments on CalDAV calendars

I notice that it is not possible to attach files to events on CalDAV calendars. Does anyone know why this is or how to change it?
    Thanks in advance.

Actually, the CalDAV specification REQUIRES (http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc4791#section-8.5) that conforming implementations support inline attachments as described in the iCalendar specification (http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc5545). Unfortunately, Apple's implementation is non-conforming (but so are Mozilla Sunbird/Lightning, Google, Zimbra, though in different ways).
Apple iCal uses the URL property to convey the link information in the event body sent through CalDAV. This is OK, but they should also stick the URL in the ATTACH property to be more interoperable.
This lack of agreement on how to do this is a giant pain in the ***.

  • For some reason sometimes my iCal on my laptop will spontaneously delete events. Does anyone else have this problem?

Does anyone have this problem? It's making me miss events

I do sync with MobileMe and iCloud and my iPhone but I don't delete them on my phone. Sometimes I'll add an event, do something else for 5 minutes, go back and the event is gone.
I checked my ical preferences and nothing for delete is checked.

The response is:  "Move Failed, This file could not be moved:  (Insufficient access privileges for operation )
Had a recent crash, and so many of my movie files are missing.  I just upgraded to IMovie11.  Should I just delete them from the Finder?

  • How can I delete events from the iPad calendar?

I can add events although not particularly user friendly. I cannot seem to remove them and/or just reset the whole calendar. At this point, I'll just use my trusty paper planner! I did try searching the forums and looking in the deficient iPad manual. Thanks in advance.

  • When I try to delete events on my iPhone calendar, the event momentarily disappears, but comes back within a second.

    The title says it all.
I'm having my iphone calendar sync with my google calendar. I had a repeating event that I tried to delete - I tried deleting both just this event, as well as trying to delete all future events, but either way, the event is only temporarily deleted. It disappears for a bit, but reappears almost instantaneously.
    Any ideas?
    - will

To make sure that this is not software related, set it back to factory settings, without using any backup data afterwards. Set up the rest of the personal settings manually and test the camera. If it still does not work, this is a hardware issue and the phone has to be serviced by Apple or an Authorized Apple Service Provider:

  • How do I delete events in my iPhone calendar?

I wish to delete calendar events directly from my iPhone.  Please help.

The problem could be events linked from another application like Facebook. In this case tap the "Calendar" icon at the bottom of the screen, then uncheck links from outside calendars.  If the event is one you created, tap the edit icon at the top of the screen, then scroll all the way to the bottom and tap the "Delete this event" icon.

  • Help! iCal deleting events!

    Help please!
iCal is deleting events off our business calendar. Everything before 60 days ago has been wiped
    1) Is there anything that can be done to retrieve?
    2) Is there anything that can be done to ensure this stops?
    Please note:
    - All computers and devices that sync with these calendars have been checked and are NOT set to delete past events - including all iCal calendars and Blackberry settings.

To respond to redsteven1, everything on iCal and Blackberry preferences are set to keep events forever. This was the first thing I checked. Also, I checked preferences on my mobile me account and those settings are the same. Technically, and on the face of it, there should be no reason why any old events would delete. Clearly there is some kind of bug in the software or syncing process. There are no settings on iSync that should affect this either. I checked that too. At first I thought this may just be a Blackberry problem but from my research on these and other forums it appears that the problem isn't limited to Blackberry users.

  • ICal & Entourage Woes with CalDav calendars

    Hello all.
I am having an issue with calendar events from Entourage. The issue is, when I am in iCal, viewing my entourage calendar, I cannot move entourage calendar events to my caldav calendar.
Theres a catch to this. The events I am trying to move are organized by someone else. If I duplicate that event, I can then move the event to a local calendar, but not to my caldav calendars.
    Assume a few things here:
Create new entourage event, in entourage, and in iCal I can move that event anywhere.
Have full access to edit CalDav calendars set up on my machine.
If anyone has any insight how to fix this problem I would greatly appreciate it.
    Thanks!

well I am officially considering these forums to be dead ends. Anyone have some tips on good forums for apple questions? A forum where people actually respond?
    thanks,

  • Error deleting events in iCal using applescript

    Hi,
I made a little applescript to insert and remove a roster in iCal for me and my collegues.
While the script to remove a roster works fine on my computer, others are getting an error:
    see Link: [http://i359.photobucket.com/albums/oo31/Bronco_Dappe/Allerlei/Afbeelding1.png]
[the error contains some strange characters but in general it says:
"can not get class ... of event id ... of calendar id ..."]
My applescript to delete the roster is:
    on run {CalendarName, Start, Eind, Prefix}
    -- Start and Eind format:
    -- int(day) int(month) int(year) int(hour) int(minutes)
    -- ===============================
    on run
    set CalendarName to "MP"
    set Start to "15 10 2009 00 00"
    set Eind to "17 10 2009 23 59"
    set Prefix to "MP:"
    -- Version 3.0
    -- ========
-- Changed format of Start & Eind to be compatible with Snow Leopard
    -- convert DateStart
set wordsplit to (words in Start)
    set DateStart to (current date)
set year of DateStart to (item 3 of wordsplit)
set time of DateStart to 0 -- reset time
set day of DateStart to 1 -- prevent february 31
set month of DateStart to (item 2 of wordsplit)
set day of DateStart to (item 1 of wordsplit)
set DateStart to DateStart + ((item 4 of wordsplit) * hours + (item 5 of wordsplit) * minutes) -- set time
    -- convert DateEind
set wordsplit to (words in Eind)
    set DateEind to (current date)
set year of DateEind to (item 3 of wordsplit)
set time of DateEind to 0
set day of DateEind to 1
set month of DateEind to (item 2 of wordsplit)
set day of DateEind to (item 1 of wordsplit)
set DateEind to DateEind + ((item 4 of wordsplit) * hours + (item 5 of wordsplit) * minutes)
    tell application "iCal"
set TargetCalendar to first calendar whose title is CalendarName
    set list2bDeleted to {}
    set list2bDeletedSum to {}
set listEvents to every event of TargetCalendar
    repeat with singleEvent in listEvents
if summary of singleEvent starts with Prefix then
set eventstart to start date of singleEvent
if eventstart ≥ DateStart and eventstart ≤ DateEind then
if summary of singleEvent starts with Prefix then
copy uid of singleEvent to end of list2bDeleted
copy summary of singleEvent to end of list2bDeletedSum
    end if
    end if
    end if
    end repeat
    repeat with eventUID in list2bDeleted
delete (every event of TargetCalendar whose uid is eventUID)
    end repeat
    end tell
    return list2bDeletedSum
    end run
In general the script works like this:
    1. it goes over events in a specified calendar
    2. all events to be removed are added to a delete-list by id
    3. all events in the delete-list are removed using this id
it seems step 3 creates a problem.
    any suggestions here?

Once I got access again to an apple with Leopard I solved the problem.
The applescript was saved in Snow Leopard.
When opened in Leopard 'uid' in 'copy uid of singleEvent to end of list2bDeleted' was changed into '<<class>>' : 'copy <<class>> of singleEvent...'.
Quite strange - but correcting and saving the script in Leopard solved the problem.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Deleting event in iCal 5.0.1 not syncing with Google Calendar

When I delete an event from iCal, it does not sync with Google Calendar.  However, when I create an event in iCal, it syncs just fine with Google Calendar. Creating and deleting events from Google Calendar syncs fine with iCal.  Has anyone else experienced this problem?

12/13/2011 - call to google tech support
Recent support call with Google: iCal deleting events still broken.  this is big for us.  We have users that have accounts for and/or subscribe to multiple calendars, and took a while to teach them to use iCal, so web based calendars will be foreign to them (even though I like the web based).  There is no timeline in place according to Google Tech Support.  I feel like the issue is really Apple's issue, so Google is waiting on them to fix, this type of urgency(or lack of) is right up their alley.  Oh well.
Does anyone have any suggestions on alternate calendar apps for Mac?  Specifically for google calendars?

  • ICal automatically deletes event I just added

I recently updated my MacBook Pro to Mountain Lion software. Now, whenever I add a new event to my iCal, it appears for a moment and then deletes itself. I have several different color calendars for different subjects. Some calendars and their events stay, but for some reason, certain events will not stay in my iCal. Can someone help me with this?

I have this same problem but it happens on all of y devices, I have an iPhone 4S, iPad 2 and iMac.
When I add events on to the calendar they disappear and sometimes when I get on my iMac hours later they've reappeared but they don't always reappear.
    It's really frustrating!!!
