ICal on multiple Mac and MobileMe

I am having sync issues. I have 3
Macs and an iPhone.
_*Mac A*_
Entourage Sync to iCal
iCal Sync to MobileMe
iPhone
Calendars are there.
Changes are reflected on all three (iCal on Mac A, iPhone and Entourage).
Problem:
_*Mac B*_
Sync to MobileMe, and I get "Calendars could not be synced due to inconsistent data"....
(note Address book syncs fine).
I have tried;
deleted all com.apple.iCal.*
Fixed Permissions in Disk Utility
_*Mac C*_
Same issue as Mac B.
MobileMe
I see the calender fine.
Any thoughts?

Fixed
+Went to Mac A+,

  • ICal in Lion - now "On My Mac" and "MobileMe" options??

I'm confused - I never had this problem until I upgraded to Lion.  Under my Calendars in iCal, I have "On My Mac", "MobileMe", "Exchange" and "Subscriptions".
I am confused on the difference between "On My Mac" and "MobileMe" (with duplicate named calendars under each).   We have several Macs that synchronize our MobileMe calendars.  Under Snow Leopard, there was just a calendar with the name "Family" that I had given it. Now, that same name of the calendar appears both under"On My Mac"  and "MobileMe".  And  now I'm not sure where new entries are going as my wife and I add them.   Should I delete one of these calendars?   If so, which one,  and why are there 2 options?
    Thanks

iCal in Snow Leopard shows both sorts of calendars, though you shouldn't get this duplication. 'On My Mac' calendars live on the Mac and will not sync to other Macs. Calendars listed under your MobileMe login actually live on the server and are read from there by each computer or device (though iCal does cache a copy to speed the process up).
If you are syncing calendars, the 'On My Mac' versions are redundant and you should delete them - however I would recommend exporting each one first so that you have backups on the 'you never know' basis.

  • Calendars "From My Mac" and "MobileMe"

Now in the calendars categories have both if you use MobileMe, "From My Mac" and "MobileMe" calendars.
If show all calendars then look like all sync and duplicated twice.
    What can I do?

    Hi Yu,
Yes, I did this too. For me, it was due to the fact that on the info tab in iTunes, I had ticked the 'Sync Address Book' and 'Sync iCal Calendars' options. You don't need these ticked, if you already sync over the air with MobileMe, unless you want duplicates on your iPhone.
    To correct this I:
    1) Un-ticked these options in iTunes (this didn't remove the duplicates though, even after a sync), so...
    2) Deleted my MobileMe account from my iPhone in Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars (don't worry, your data is stored in the cloud)
    3) Re-added my MobileMe account on my iPhone. As soon as my MobileMe credentials had been verified, the phone identified that the contacts and calendars that I was downloading from MobileMe already existed on my phone (synced from my Mac), and it gave me the option to Merge these with my MobileMe data. I chose the option to merge, and as soon as that was done (took a few seconds), I was back to one set of MobileMe data, and no duplicates.
    Sorted...
    Hope that helps.
    Chris.

  • I somehow erased everything (all important dates) off my ical on my mac and I'm afraid that if I connect my iphone that it will do the same there.  Will my iphone sync the dates that are on the phone and add them to the ical?  Or will it delete everything

Contacts are designed to be synced to a supported application on the computer or a cloud service.
Pictures taken with the device are designed to regularly be copied off the device to a computer as would be done with any digital camera.
If you have failed to use the device as designed it may be too late to recovery anything.
Is the device regularly backed up to a computer via iTunes?  If so, the most recent backup (when restored to a replacement iOS device) should contain all contacts and pictures as of when the backup was created.

  • TS3999 I have entered a recurring event on my icloud calender and has it disappeared, but it still shows up on my ical on my mac and iphone. Any suggestions?

I have entered a recurring event on my icloud calender and has it disappeared, but it still shows up on my ical on my mac and iphone. Any suggestions?

So after reading other's threads on this issue, I learned that by turning icloud's calendar sync option off and then on again, it re-sets your calendar and pesky old things go away like magic. Thanks to others on this forum for sharing their expertise! I'm all set now.

  • ICal syncing with mac and iphone problem - duplicating all alarms.

I have a mobile me account linked to my office mac, my home mac and my iPhone and my wife's iphone. I have been using this to sync all my contacts and calendar for 18 months with no problems until just after christmas. It suddenly duplicated all my contacts and all my iCal alarms. To solve it I had to use time machine to take my ical and address book back a few days and then force everything to update from that machine.
This I thought solved it but now three weeks later it has duplicated all my alarms again. Why is this happening and how do I stop it? It does not inspire confidence in this system if it randomly changes things. How do I know it will not suddenly delete something? It is also very frustrating and time consuming to reset all the data back a few days.
Any help or advice would be appreciated.

The synchronization between iCal, MobileMe, and iPhone is one of the biggest embarrassments and disgraces Apple has yet to deal with.
For over a year, I have been battling duplicates with little success. Add to all this MS Entourage, which I had to install last year because Mac Mail doesn't play nicely with Exchange server. (My company uses Exchange for our mail, etc.) To be clear, the duplicate problem existed prior to the addition of Entourage 2008. So you are out of luck, Koolaide Fans; you can't point the finger at MS in this case.
After 6 months of struggling and fighting with Entourage (and because there is no native version of MS Project or Visio for Mac) I finally had to install VM Ware with Windows 7, MS Office 2007, Visio, Project, etc. The MS apps work perfectly under the Windows 7 session. So, I my functionality for business has been restored. However, I am left wondering why I have a Mac if it can't provide me the functionality I need for such basic things as Email, calendars, contacts, and tasks. I am to the point where I am basically doing everything in the VMWare session under Windows.
I am very pleased with my Mac's ability to do video editing, graphics, and sound using Adobe products. But again, I work in mainstream corporate America where 90% of the marketshare is still PC/Windows.
In the end, I am hoping someone from Apple can come forward soon and say "This is EXACTLY how you need to configure your Entourage/iCal/MobileMe/iPhone so that you aren't crippled by duplicates and other nonsense...." It really is ridiculous.

  • How can I make my iPhone sync with iCal on my Mac and not with iCloud?

I live and travel in Africa and wi-fi is frequently a luxury.  iCloud syncing between Mac and my iPhones (a 3GS & 4) is not possible but when I turn iClod off, it deletes the calendar on my Mac.  In another forum it was suggested that you export your various calendars (personal, business etc) to the desktop, log out of iCloud and therefore have your iCal calendar deleted, re-boot to clear anything in the cache, import the calendars which are then on My Mac and sync.  It worked all the way until the last bit.  Syncing the iPhone is clunkingly slow and it only syncs one of my calendars which is the only one that appears in the info dialogue box in iTunes when the iPhone is connected.  Can anyone help?  iCloud is I am sure fine for those who have regular access to wi-fi but not me - I will be happy to go back to my time capsule which has done me well over the years.
    Some advice please

Plug yr iPhone to your compu in the old fashioned way with cable.
Just to cover yourself...select the iPhone in Devices of left pane of iTunes window, then on main pane, select radio button Back up to Computer. Right click on the iPhone in devices, do a backup. It shld then be on your compu'.
Then, back in main windo, select Info 'tab' from top of the right pane, and tick the Sync iCal events.
    I'm sure this will help.
If it all goes pear-shape, u have the backup to restore the pre-sync device.

  • Back-to-My-Mac and MobileMe?

Trying to set up Back-to-my-Mac and this site http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1109 says I have to have a MobileMe account...well I just transferred it to iCloud!
So in System Preferences>iCloud I have checked Back-to-my-Mac...but what else do I have to do to my MacbookPro or iPad to use it?
NEVER MIND...I FOUND THE ANSWER AT http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4907

    Never mind....I figured this out!

  • Sync iCal with multiple Mac systems - How to ?

I have created a system over the years that finally worked for me using my Palm. I use missing sync and will sync my iCal at my office Mac and also at my home Mac. This way if over the weekend or anywhere else in-between my schedule changes, everything gets updated.
It also helps that I use .Mac to sync everthing in-between the computers as well.
So... I am now taking the plung into the iPhone... but I want to set this up correctly.
I cannot only sync my schedule at work OR home. Too much changes throughout the week for me. I also rely on syncing things on Sunday evening and then using .Mac to publish it around to various people (I am using the Mac technology as it was intented to be used!)
Since it appears that syncing is only acheived via iTunes and not using iSync, how can I acheive this?
Or could I use iSync via Bluetooth???
The ONLY thing I really need to sync on the work computer is the iCal ...everything else can sync at the home computer (well I would like to sync other items from time to time, but I can live with this solution if I have to!)
I am also concerned reading here what appears to tell me that I can only have one calendar... again I am a busy person who receives .Mac feeds with other people's iCals and sometimes has them sync and I currently have them sync to my Palm lifedrive (all color coded to clarify).
I really hope that going "all Mac" will be easier and simler than the cobbled together mess that I finally created over the years with the Palm with my macs. My wife and I finally know what each other's schedule is!
    any thoughts?
    thanks
    Rich

I see what you are saying and understand how allowing .mac to update the other computers will work.
But what will update the iPhone until I reach the office computer (say I sync at the offic, I just updated things on the home computer, synced via .mac so things are OK for the computers, and it is the Friday evening... )
I will have a couple of days of outdated schedule in my pocket until Monday.
I want to keep a current iCal on my iPhone.
    Is this possible?
    Rich

  • Sync contact on iphone with my contacts on mac and mobileme

I want to share my contacts between my iphone, mobileme and my macbook.
How can I do this? Is enough to change contacts on one of these devices, and will mobileme sync all?
    bye

Ok, but why does mobileme lost some contact info? I've modified contacts on my iphone, in the same time on mac and now on iphone some information are missing...
If I modify in the same time contacts on MobileMe, iPhone and Mac, will MobileMe sync all devices correctly?
    Bye
ps: when mobileme sync iPhone contacts?

  • ICal on iPad, Mac and iPhone

When I make an update on my Mac on iCal it shows up on my iPhone 4 but not my iPad.  Also when I make a change on my iPhone it shows up on my Mac but not my iPad.  If I add something from my iPad it does show up on the Mac and iPhone.  I am just not getting updates posted on the iPhone or Mac on the iPad.  So if I add it from my Mac or iPhone it does not show up on my iPad.  How can I fix this?
I tried to turn of the iCal on the cloud on the ipad and the mac.

The 'Home' calendar does not sync to iCloud, only the iCloud calendar does that.
In the iCloud control panel have you turned calendar sync on? and are you seeing the iCloud calendar in iCal?, all calendars in the 'On my Mac' group are local, they do not sync.
Also, check in iCal>Preferences>Accounts, to ensure that iCloud is subscribed to in iCal:

  • Sync Mac iPhoto library with multiple Macs and devices using iCloud

Our house is a "Mac" house. My wife and I have two iMacs, two iPhones, and an iPad. I have 30,000 photos in my library dating back to 2002 with a size of 100 Gb. I am paying the $3.99/month for 200 Gb of storage, but currently only using about 7 Gbs. I am running the latest of everything. iOS 8 on devices, and Yosemite on both iMacs.
I am having troubles maintaining two separate libraries. I will upload to my iMac, my wife will upload to her iMac, but I want our entire library to be synced on both computers. Furthermore, I want pictures to show up on all devices. How do I get my entire 30000 photo library on my iMac uploaded to iCloud? I want the entire library to be synced to all our devices? I want all of our photos that we have taken to be in one happy consolidated iPhoto Library, accessible on every computer and device.
    Thanks
    Kevin

This is not yet possible between Macs and iOS devices, but the new Photos.app for Mac, to be released early next year, will support it.
Right now, only the iOS 8 devices can use iCloud Photo Library (Beta). That will store the Photo Library in iCloud and sync to all iOS devices.  See:    iCloud Photo Library beta FAQ - Apple Support
Macs can upload to iCloud Photo Library currently only from the web interface:  https://www.icloud.com/#photos.
It is not clear, if the Photos.app for Mac will support family sharing. We do not know much about the new app to come.
The iOS version only supports one AppleID so far.
And it cannot yet be recommended to upgrade the iOS devices to Cloud Photo Library Beta, because you will no longer be able to use iTunes Photo Sync or My Photo Stream to upload photos to your iOS devices.
I want all of our photos that we have taken to be in one happy consolidated iPhoto Library, accessible on every computer and device.
Added:  iPhoto is a single user database, that needs the iPhoto Library to be stored on a locally connected drive, and it is not possible to store the library on a network volume or cloud storage.  The new Photos.app will support the cloud storage.
Apple's recommendation for sharing a library between iPhoto users is the sneaker drive:
iPhoto: Sharing libraries among multiple users

  • Sync iCal with multiple Macs using Dropbox?

I recently purchased an old PowerBook G4 (as in, Mini-VGA old) to take with me to class for note taking. I was hoping to be able to sync my main iCal from my Mac (unibody MacBook Pro, pre-Thunderbolt) to my "new" PowerBook G4. It would really be easiest if i could use iCloud, I know, but my PowerBook is running OS X 10.5.8, so no iCloud there.
I Googled my issue, and quickly found Wired's How-To Wiki page "Sync Your Life with Dropbox" (http://howto.wired.com/wiki/Sync_Your_Life_With_Dropbox), which has you, using Terminal, move your iCal calendar files into your Dropbox in the first step, and during step two I get lost.
When I type in the command (as per the second step)
    ln -s ~/Dropbox/ Calendars/ ~/Library /Calendars
into Terminal, I receive "No such file or directory." Thinking the spaces between Dropbox/Calendars and Library/Calendars were erroneous, I attemped removing them, only to return "File exists."
I'm not at all savvy with using Terminal, but appreciate any and all help I can get.
    Thanks!

    Roger,
Thanks for such a quick response. I am strictly copying and pasting that command (which then enters with the tilde ~). You mentioned both username and the tilde and your meaning of the word "that" becomes a little ambigous, did you mean to use the tilde or replace it with my username?
    Roger Wilmut1 wrote:
This is used to indicate your username (the name of your Home Folder) and it is that you should be typing.
Also, being as cautious as I am using Terminal, I only removed those spaces on the recommendation of a prevoius support discussion: https://discussions.apple.com/message/11039672#11039672, I'm far too chicken to mess around in Terminal with so little knowledge of what I could accidentally do.

  • Can I have ical On My Mac and iCloud ?

Before iCloud, I could Publish a calendar on a Private Server as an  .ics file on my web site using ftp.   Pretty slick.   That way other people can import or subscribe to that file on my web site, and I can just update it in iCal on my Mac.
Now if I use iCloud for my calendars on my Mac, it forces me to merge all of them and I lose that ability.    Ideally, I'd like to have both with some of my calendars on iCloud, and this one I publish with ftp On My Mac.
    Any way to do that?

"iCloud requires iOS 5 on iPhone 3GS or later, iPod touch (3rd and 4th generation), iPad, or iPad 2; a Mac computer with OS X Lion; or a PC with Windows Vista or Windows 7 (Outlook 2007 or 2010 or an up-to-date browser is required for accessing email, contacts, and calendars). Some features require a Wi-Fi connection. Some features are not available in all countries. Access to some services is limited to 10 devices."

  • Best solution to run Sage on multiple Macs and a PC?

    Hi all.
We are a small advertising agency of around 10 people, all using Macs, except for our accountant who uses her own PC laptop to run accounting software Sage Line 50.
We now want 3 other staff members to access the same Sage database and edit it just like our accountant can, all of whom will be using Macs. I am now trying to figure out the best solution for us. We wouldn't want to boot any Mac into Windows, so perhaps using Parallels on 3 Macs, with Sage installed on those 3 Macs would be the most obvious solution, but is it the best?
I understand Sage have an online version of Line 50 which runs through the browser but after talking to them, they cannot comment on the Mac compatibility of this. If our accountant could host the database on her PC, while the other 3 staff members access this online through the Macs this would be perfect, and cheaper. But does anyone know if the Sage online software will work through a browser such as Safari or Firefox on the Mac? If not, perhaps we need to install Parallels on each Mac, just to run the online browser software as this may still work out cheaper than installing the actual Sage Line 50 software on each Mac.
I hope this all makes sense, I'm really confused myself. I have spoken to Sage who can't help much when it comes to talking about Macs, and this is the only other place where I feel I could get an answer. Any input is greatly appreciated, thank you in advance!
    Cheers.

    Depends.
What do you need to do that requires Windows?
Without knowing that, some guesses are CrossOver, Parallele, VMWare Fusion or Boot Camp. These are listed by easy of implementation and increase service provided by each item in the list.
