Ical on the dock

i love how ical shows the current date when it is open...is there any way to have it always show the date when ical isn't open too?
thanks

there is a program called menucalanderclock iCal edition (there is also an entourage edition) that is made by objectpark software
im sure if you do a search for it on version tracker itll show up. its a menu icon for the menu bar that links to ical (it will open ical if you click on a date in the calander) and displays the date on the menu bar
its free for some features (all i use) i think for full integration there is a small fee

  • ICal icon in the dock is NOT live

One of the first things I noticed in Leopard was that FINALLY, the iCal icon in the Dock reflects the current date without iCal being open. This was "confirmed" by several reviews I read online.
Woohoo! Apple finally responded to the #1 complaint about iCal and the Dock! Right?
Wrong. They simply defaulted it to OCT 26 for Leopard's release, which should now be known as October Fool's day.
Honestly Apple, how hard would this be to fix? You even did it on the iPhone! You spent all that effort on live reflections in the dock but can't fix a bona fide usability problem?

you're not alone. my ical dock was also buggy. when it was closed it displayed the date that was one earlier than the current date in the menu bar. and when i opened, ical, it displayed the current date. i removed the icon and then replaced it like you did and it fixed the bug (that was really annoying me).
i had a clean install of Leopard, don't know if you did upgrade or clean install.

  • ICal indications on the Dock

I have a number 1 in a red circle on the iCal in the dock. Great feature to tell me when I have a new meeting request. Now I have it but can find no meeting for this one. Was working great. Is it a meeting I set up and received no reply and the date / time has come and gone? How do I find it / clear it? Thanks for helping me!

I am having the same problem. There is a "1" in a red circle on my iCal dock icon, but I cannot find the event referenced or clear the indicator. Anyone out there who can shed some light on this? It happened to me once before, and somehow was cleared without me knowing how it happened.

  • How do I get iCal onto my dock?

How do I get iCal onto my dock?  I currently have to log into Mobile Me each time I want to check my calendar.  I used to be able to click on the iCal icon on my dock.  However, when I updated iCal a couple months ago, it did not update/sync with the iCal on my dock. I've tried draggin the iCal icon from the applications menu onto my dock, but that did not give me my calendar from Mobile Me.

Try to see if you can update the iCal on the dock (click software update). Also, is it possible to sync calendars? If so, then I would also suggest that. If all else fails, try restarting your computer.
    Hope tis helped!:)

  • I cannot open iCal because of a problem. Can anybody help me? The computer will not allow it to open and sends a message to apple each time. The icon has gone from the dock, but ical works on my iPad and I am afraid to sync it with my computer.?

I have the exact same problem. I have not changed anything. This is probably a bug or something that has gone bad with Mac OS X (10.7.2). I have not found any solution for this on the web.
MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.2).

  • Please make iCal update the date in the dock!!

If I leave iCal open for several days, the date in the icon on the dock remains unchanged. I have to quit iCal to get the date to update (the current date shows as soon as I quit iCal; I don't even have to restart the application.

Linc -- thanks so much! This fixed it. I had posted the same question a few months ago, but never got an answer. I do appreciate your assistance.

  • ICal still shows previous day in ical proper, but shows current date in the dock

iCal is open in the MONTH, on my desktop permanently, but it continually shows yesterdays date.  It isn't till I actually click on the following day in iCal proper that the date changes to the current date. The iCal icon on the dock works fine with no issues.  When I first purchased the iMac iCal worked aok.  Software is continually updated.

I have the same issue. I am also running iCal 5.0.2 under Lion 10.7.3. It worked fine for me on Lion 10.7.2, and it still works ok for me on my iPhone 4 running iOS 5.1. It does look like a bug to me. I have the issue connecting to a Google Calendar as well as to another (non-Apple) CalDAV server.
Let me know if you call Apple Support to report this issue.

  • ICal image in the dock

Does anyone know of a fix to have the correct date show up in the dock icon for iCal? "17" seems so odd. How can today's date show up there.
    Thanks

add ical to your login items
    and hide it

  • ICal showing current date on the dock

I have Leopard and the iCal icon on my dock shows the current date, whether or not the application is open, whether or not I shut down the computer.
Another person in the office, with Panther, has iCal on her dock but the date does not update each day unless she opens the application.
Is there a way to set the dock icon to update in Panther.
    thanks,

Is there a way to set the dock icon to update in Panther.
Not without keeping iCal open all the time.

  • My iCal icon in the Dock is still showing 31 Dec

Hello all and Happy New Year!
*It's already 1st Jan 2010 morning* here in Singapore.
A glance at my iCal icon in the Dock I just realized *it is still showing 31 Dec*
    Hmmm, what is going on?
    Thanks and cheers

    Hi there Kosmic_Kayy,
If I understand correctly, you have successfully upgraded to Yosemite but you see the installer in Launchpad, and it indicates that it is paused. You should be able to remove that, with the following the following steps:
OS X Lion: How to remove Mac App Store apps that appear in Launchpad
Follow these steps while you are logged in with an administrator account:
    Enter Launchpad.
Click and hold on an icon until you see all icons jiggle.
Click the "x" button in the upper-left of the Mac App Store app icon you want to delete.
Note: If you do not see an "x" button, either the app is not from the Mac App Store or you are logged in as a standard user.
Click "Delete" in the confirmation dialog to delete the app.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

  • ICal shows delegates task and appointments in the small number in the dock

    Hi,
I've just started using iCal with exchange. I've been using iCal for a while with google with no problem at all. But now that i use i with the Exchange server it has made something really funny. I'm getting the small number in the dock with the numbers of everybody appointments and tasks. This makes my very busy and i always has something to do even when that's not the case. Is it possible to have iCal to show only the numbers of upcoming tasks and event for myself? I've tried looking around i all the option and preferences with no luck.

I have just turned off time zone support and that fixed the problem. It's always been on, though, I I haven't had a problem before. I have just switched from mobile me to icloud so that may be the root of it, However, iCal has been correct on my iphone and Air.
