ICal opens at random times with OSX Lion

Ever since upgrading to Lion, iCal seems to pop open at random times. Doesn't seem to be much of a pattern to it either. I use Calendar on my iPhone - it is synced with iCal via the iCloud beta, so potentially this has something to do with it.
Any ideas why this is happening - or, what log files might I be able to look at to see why it opens?

Thanks for the update much appreciated, it's funny out of curiosity i checked again to be sure of the system requirements for the new osx lion and reads as follows:
System Requirements
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
2GB of memory
OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
7GB of available space
ect.......
I'm running an intel core duo 2.4Ghz with 4G's (ram) which i implemented "just because" after a visit to at the ARS for a routine maintenace of my machine about a year ago, and it appears that 4G's are not even enough, apple has not even addressed this issue even though (thanks to your feed back) apparently is not only a coincidence for me, but infact is a real issue, with just a quick search other people with other even newer machines are encountering the same failures that mine has; anyhow, I will be implementing my 4G's to 8G's (ram) soon and will keep posted as well if the issue is to reveal again/persist even then, well to look at it in the bright side, the machine will run faster.

If I say "OPEN WITH Photoshop CC 2014", or if I drag the file directly to CC 2014 in the Dock it will open in CC. Since I like to double-click or hit return in the bridge, I am constantly having to wait until the file opens in CS6, quit CS6 an then open it another way to get it into Photoshop CC 2014. I tried to disable CS6 by hiding it, but then double-clicking Bridge did nothing. Any ideas why this is happening?

Check and adjust the File Type Associations in the bridge cc preferences.

I can't open App Store in my OSX Lion

Hi there, hope anyone can help
I can't open App Store in my OSX Lion. The icon somehow changed to some kind of plain paper.
Every time I open it, it comes to the dock, bouncing, but then gone and App Store is not open.
There is no notification window or something like that. I did not change anything, it just changes itself somehow.
Anyone have similar experience?

You need to restore OS X using OS X Recovery
Startup your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys. From there you should be able to access the built in utilities to restore OS X.
That will reinstall the App Store for you.

Your wifi problem sounds very much like the problem I had. The wifi would drop out, the icon showed it was still connected. If I turned it off, I couldn't turn it back on. Another user here pointed me to the problem, which was the wifi cable (the flat cable goint from the card to the motherboard). I found it on ebay for $13 and it's been running fine since I replaced it. This is the repair guide for your machine. The part number will be on there if you click the link.

Next problem is that when moving through the installer and get to custom install, as I only want to install iDVD and iWeb, I am presented with the option to install iDVD, Sounds & Jingles and iWeb, but not sure what is going on with the other 3 options iLife Support etc, they seem to be greyed out but still look like they may install over the top of the newer versions already on my imac. Is it ok for me to just go ahead and hit install? Or do I have a problem?

Yep, just install iDVD (plus sounds and jingles) and iWeb if you want it (but note that iWeb apparently won't work if you upgrade to Mountain Lion).
Then use Software Update to get any late iDVD updates.

You are right, the way to the file appear down the virtual picture, near the title of the documents ; it is a little more complicated than in Snw Leopard , but it works

No app needed, just go into your Utlities folder and click on System Information (it could go by another name). Click on Software and then Applications. Wait a minute for it to load and then check for anything that says "PowerPC" instead of Universal or Intel. PowerPC software will not work in Lion. With my 100+ apps, none of them were PowerPC.
Note: You may have to resize the System Information window to see the operating information.

It is a feature of ML not Lion and only if you have a fairly recent (2011 or later, check first) Mac. Airparrot app will do the mirroring on Lion for a couple of bucks.

my ipad has been crashing. it will happen at random times with random apps. it will turn black, apple logo appears, then back to the home screen. i have reset it. ive sent it to apple and they couldnt reproduce the problem and they sent it back. it was fine then it happen twice this morning.

Make Sure iOS is updated to the latest version
Reboot the device by pressing and holding down the home and sleep/wake buttons (power) at the same time until the apple logo appears on the screen, then let go.
If that doesn't work then reset the device by going to settings/general/reset/reset all settings

Graphic problem with OSX Lion - freezing all windows

I try to define my graphic problem with OSX Lion. Simply if you have set for example hot cornes and switch between desktop, all windows etc. the move of switchng windows i chopping and freezing. No, it's not Lion. It may be something you installed. If you just bought it you could also take it back to the Apple Store and they may be able to help.

QuickTime 10.1 does not seem to be compatible with OSX Lion - clicking on the displayed file window switches to another displayed app, doesn't play or control the video.

If I open a movie file (appears to be any type - .mov, m4v, mv4) it displays on the desktop, but when clicked, the Mac reverts to another open application (immediately UNDER to point of the mouse click) and not the displayed movie file. It appears the screen mapping is flawed...

Yes, same problem. The active clickable area appears to be shifted down and to the right as if it is the shadow mask (to make it look like layers in the display) that is responding. Means you can't move the control palette to the top of the window (to not block security video with time track at bottom) or even close the window. The X in the bubble appears when moused over but the click goes through it.
Most obvious if you open more than one movie at a time and they cascade. You can't get at the ones underneath until a few down the stack and it gets an upper wrong one.
Who's testing these things?
For comparison testing to recreate problem: Mac Pro (System Information has also been dumbed down from System Profiler, push System Report for the useful stuff) with an ATI Radeon HD 5770 driving two displays.
Also viewing desktop of another computer on the network is slower and, for instance in World of Warcraft, the hand pointer flickers.
And finder windows can't be narrowed as much any more to show only a list of file names for drag and drop sorting.
Was hoping that by 10.7.3, it would be safe to jump, since several posts told me how to Terminal > networksetup -setv6off Ethernet to fix iTunes streaming to expresses and other dumb bugs.
