ICal Postgres issues

Afternoon Apple Community.
I'm having some issues with iCal Server after upgrading from 10.6 to 10.8 server.
Not too sure what's going on but I'm having issues with iCal Server since the upgarde on one particular use...mine!
Nothing can be added or removed I get "The server responded with 500 to operation CalDAVAccountRefreshQueueableOperation).
I am not entirely sure that the transfer to Postres has succeded corretly.
I do have a caldav table in postres but when trying to dump the database I get the following error which contradict each other!
Latest schema version (12) is installed
bash-3.2# pg_dump -U _postgres caldav -c -f /db_backups/caldav.sql

bash-3.2# dropdb -U _postgres caldav

When the server is booting I'm getting the following error messages:
Mar 16 13:46:01 mail.example.com.au CalendarAgent[507]: [com.apple.calendar.store.log.caldav] [During deep refresh in calendar "Final", had collection tag match, but etag mismatch for url http://mail.example.com.au:8008/calendars/__uids__/D9F3C0D6-1334-44B7-B48B-10EC3 B8E3713/calendar/F60B9168-DDC6-4C3A-9C82-9309D3D2B041.ics: local changes not sent to the server - cTag:842_4711 syncToken:(null)]
Please helppppppp,it's driving me nuts!

As of 10.8 there are 2 instances of postgres, a general purpose one, and a new one now dedicated to Server.  calendarserver_bootstrap_database is talking to the new one (via /Library/Server/PostgreSQL For Server Services/Socket) and indeed that new database does have a "caldav" user and "caldav" db.  When you are running pg_dump and dropdb by hand you are by default talking to the other, general purpose postgres.
Your calendar data should have already been migrated into the new database.  Had you gotten errors during migration?
Is your Calendar Server pointing at the new database?  You can tell by examining the "DSN" value via:
   # serveradmin settings calendar:DSN
You should see:
   calendar:DSN = "/Library/Server/PostgreSQL For Server Services/Socket:caldav:caldav:::"

  • Ical sharing issue

I have an icloud account that i share calenders with my work collegues just fine, i wanted to share just my home calender with my wife, but there is where the issue starts. My home calender on my Imac is shared via a me.com icloud account. When i type my wifes me.com email address to share it does nothing, in so far as it sends her no invitation direct to her icloud calender or her email address via the share link. If however i send it to her itunes based address i.e a yahoo.co.uk address it goes through as a link on the email and via a browser she can see the shared calender, also after doing this its visable on her iphone 4S, however no matter how i change her settings its just does not come on to her mac. Both the iphone and macpro icloud is logged in under the me.com account not the itunes account so why would this be?
Its really making me scratch my head.
Just for info...both my ical and hers are running mountain lion and both iphones are updated to the latest iOS.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Have you checked her mail rules and filtering, the email may be going to a junk folder or even being deleted.

  • Does entourage 2008 solve all the new 10.6.3 ical syncing issues?

I am keeping a running list of known issues with entourage and ical after the 'upgrade' from 10.4 to 10.6.3 OS.
I have had two duplicated entourage ical calendars, time shift of events and now lastly, when i went to sync at 11pm last night, entourage calendar was wiped completely blank and will not sync.
my threads i have found, only a partial list:
Topic : Time shift in syncing entourage calendar with ical

If you sync ICal and Entourage 2004, you may notice that events that are transferred from Entourage 2004 to ICal have the wrong times. This is a known issue between Snow Leopard and Entourage.

yesterday i noted the at had a duplicate ical calendar from entourage syncs. i posted this:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2433438&tstart=0
i spent all day on this matter backing up calendars, trying to reimport, sync etc. at 10:50 pm last night after taking on the task of eliminating and removing duplicates from my entourage/ical calendars i sync my work and my entourage calendar went blank. and as if this hour, 8 hours later, not data in the entourage calendar.
OS 10.6.3 upgraded the combo patch too.
    entourage 2004 11.4.0 ver
    ical 4.0.2
    MY POSTING from yesterday:
duplicate ical calendar was created wheni upgraded fro OS 10.4 to 10.6.3
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2433438&tstart=0

So I run the 10.6.3 Combo updater and the problem is now gone. The password was added to the keychain correctly and I can access my Google calDav calendars.
So the big question would be why the 10.6.3 update failed?

  • Iphone and ical syncing issues

My iphone 3GS seems to be creating double all of the ical entries? I have recently updated to the new mobileme calendar but this was happening just before also.
I enter ical events on both my mac book pro and my iphone. Ical does not double the events but the iphone does.
Anyone else had this issue or know what could be causing it??
    Cheers.

There's a whole "encyclopedia" in these forums about this problem. Suggest you search here for something like "iCal event duplication" and you should find a good bit of helpful information.
That said, I had similar problems with my iPhone 3G and then my iPhone 4, and it basically came down to MobileMe issues. My best advice would be to look first to see whether or not the calendar on your MBP agrees with the one on MobileMe - I'm betting you'll find issues there for which the phone is just a display medium. It will probably be necessary for you to reset your sync data and clean out either the iCal data or the data in MM Calendar.

  • Ical syncing issues with iphone/imac after lion OS update.

    Hi All,
I upgraded to lion and now have two issues with syncing my iphone and ipad to my imac.
First issue is that calander entries created on the iphone/ipad do not appear in the imac calander after syncing.
Second issue is that if I change an calander entry on my imac, the old entry and the new entry will show up on my iphone.  For example. I created an event and accidently clicked out of it before changing the name.  I then reopened that entry and changed the name and date. In my imac ical calender I only had one entry at the final date with the correct name.  When I synced my iphone and ipad however two events showed up on the iphone and ipad. The original "new event", and the event with the correct name and date.
The same thing happened when I had the same event occuring for 5 days,  I manual copied the one event five times on the one day and then dragged them to the correct days in ical on my imac.  When I synced my iphone I had both the 5 entries on the one day, as well as the entries on the days I had dragged them to.
In summary, now when I look at my calander in ical on my imac it looks great, but on my iphone it has all these extra entries. It is as though when it syncs it shows me all of my previous entries and changes, instead of the actual current calander.
Any thoughts how I can get the imac and iphone icals to look the same?
and in case you were wondering, I dont use Icloud.  I did set it up and turned it off after the duplicate entry problem that everyone has mentioned.  I dont have that duplicate entry issue anymore.
    Thanks
    Adrian

From what your write, it is a little hard to tell, what exactly your problem is, though you may want to try the following, which helped me at time:
    step one:
export all of your calendars one by one, including the one with entries giving you problems
    step two:
erase all of your calendars and create a dummy character, check if syncing works with that one.
reimport the previously exported calendars one by one, redoing the syncing routines.
In the instances I had problems, I found that exporting and reimporting a calendar file usually did away with the problem
Also, at least on my machines, turning on the birthday link to address book, created some problems, so you might want to try without that feature too.
If you got everything working on one machine, another strategy can be to reinitiate syncing from that one, i.e. erase and reinstall the syncing process on the others. Just make sure you have an up to date back up of your entries.

  • Ical sync issue between Iphone and Ipad

I seem to be having issues syncing events between my Iphone to my Ipad.  icloud is enabled on both and it appears that all the calendars are enabled for syncing.  Any help with this would be appreciated.

I'm having this issue as well.  I have tried the add new account as was mentioned in other posts (going through the Advanced settings and changing the server location), but it appears that I would be duplicating accounts, and "that is not supported".  I also am having issues with alerts not going to me, but to my husband (who has a google.com email).  When I check the Address Book to see what the main contact card is, it shows my information, yet I am not receiving alerts and my email is not an option to select.  When I changed my Apple Id, he received the confirmation email (as did I).  What do I need to do to: 1) get alerts to come to me and not my husband and 2) sync my iCal with macbook, iPhone, and iPad?  Thanks!

  • ICal Syncing Issues: iCloud & iMac to iPhone Not Working

I use iCal. I updated my iCal on my iMac and it updated to iCloud, but not my iPhone. When I open iCal on my iPhone, it cycles and cycles to update, but doesn't update. What can I do to get my iPhone iCal to sync?

I have the same issue. I have 2 iPhones (4 and 5) and an MacBook. When I enter an event in the MacBook, the event doesn't appear on either iPhone and conversely when I enter and event in the iPhones, it doesn't appear in the MacBook (and all devices are connected to internet via WiFi). It all used to work fine until about June 20th. The events are all entered on iCloud-synchronized calendars. When I send invites to events to myself or others, these are not received. Mail synchronization works fine between devices. As a test, I'll set up a Google calendar and see if this problem is related to iCloud.

  • ICal - Alarm issues

    Hello,
I would appreciate some help on the following issue I have:
When I create a new appointment within iCal on my mac (Alarm set to "off"), a few seconds later the appointment appears on my iPhone via iCloud.
Problem: Alarm is set to "on", to go off when the appointment starts.
Both iCal and Calenders on my iPhone have the default settings for the alarm set to "off" correctly.
I have removed and restarted iCloud Calenders on both Mac and iPhone.
    The problem persists.
    What can I do?
    Thanks

I've managed to work around this by either
    a) only add events in the iCloud.com calendar
or, if you have to add an event in Mountain Lion's Calendar app:
    1) go to icloud.com afterwards, edit the event, add an alert for whenever (doesn't really matter), click "OK" to save.
    2) edit the event again, remove the alert you just saved.
If you just have one iOS device it might be easier to post-edit the event there.
Here's to hoping they fix the bug in the next Mountain Lion or iOS update.

  • IPOD Nano : calendar/iCal sync issue

Since the change made on MobileMe calendar, I can't sync my "old" iPODs nano calendar with iCal anymore. (I have a 2nd generation iPOD Nano and a 4th generation one)
My guess is that the iCal datas are nomore on the Mac itself but somewhere in the MobileMe cloud and the iPOD nano can't find the datas anymore to update its calendar.
Is there a way to solve this issue?
Thanks a lot for any help or idea

Nobody has any idea on the way to sync my "old" iPOD nano calendar with iCAL on my Mac running MacOS X 10.6.8?

  • ICloud iCal sync Issue: Only iPad has correct nfo

Of the four places (desktop, browser, iPhone, iPad) where my iCal is viewable I only have the proper info on the iPad.  I have toggled the iCal On/Off in the preferences pane of both MBP and iPhone to no good outcome. How do I get the iPad's correct info to populate across the other devices.  This annoying developement is recent and inexplicable, I have had no major system / software issues, all other aspects of iCloud are working properly.  I have most recent software on all iOS devices and 10.7.4 on the MBP.  Used to be there was a prompt asking how you wanted MobileMe to merge info... is it just me or was MobileMe more granular (like being able to reset sync history) and conceptually more understandable?  Anyway I'd greatly appreciate any leads, I've come up empty on this forum and the other mac forums.

Fixed it. In case anybody else has this issue or simular. uncheck the calendar option in the icloud prefs, then check it back on. A little to simple.

  • ICal sync issues (times are incorrect)

    Hi guys
I am having some strange issues with iCal at the moment. As you can see below when I send out invities people are receiving two seperate times in the body of the email, and in the ics attachement.
I have done some browsing and can confirm the following:
1/ All my calendars (iCloud, iCal) are set to Singapore timezone as well as having Time Zone support ON
2/ My iPhone is set to Time Zone support on and to Singapore time
    Screenshot of the email attached.
Any help or suggestions are much appreciated.

you may want to check your time settings on your macpro first: system preference>date&time>time zone... make sure you have the right time zone and city, then in system preference>date&time>date&time... check "set date & time automatically".
then in ical: ical>preferences>advanced, make sure you have "Turn on time zone support" selected.
finally on the iphone: settings>general>date&time, make sure you have time zone support selected and the right time zone/city.
    hope this helps.

  • When is the iCal colour issue going to be resolved?

The set colour on my iCal changes from blue to purple.  This is an identified issue that many users are experiencing. When is it going to be resolved?

SMS is a carrier feature, contact the carrier to troubleshoot.
There is not messaging issue with iOS.

  • ICal: performance issue

    Hi,
the iCal has a performance issue: the programs uses a lot of CPU (99 %) when switching between months... It takes 10 seconds to switch between month. I have 5 calendars and are all local. iCal is not connected with mobileme.
    Thanks for your help.
    Best regards,
    Eric

    Hi Eric;
Since your question is about iCal, you might have better luck if you repost it over in the iCal Forum where those with the most knowledge on iCal tend to hang out.

  • Ical sync issue: only one way

I had installed the ios 5 on my iphone and the updates for my macbook pro for icloud they synced up fine. I just added my imac to the mix and I'm having issues with the syncing. If I place an event on my macbook it will push to the other devices (iphone & imac), however the events (old and new) that are on my Imac won't push to the other devices.
The ical on my Imac has been my parent calendar so it has the major events I want to sync.
Im not sure why its just one way? can anybody offer some advice

  • ICal Sync Issue

I have a Macbook Pro running OS Leopard.  I have IPhone 4S and IPAD2, both running latest IOS 5.  Any event I enter in ICAL in my Macbook shows up in my IOS devices.  However, what's in the calendars in my IOS devices will not sync to my Macbook.  I tried a solution I found at http://askville.amazon.com/iphone-ical-sync/AnswerViewer.do?requestId=15018816 but this did not do anything.  Appreciate any help anyone can provide.

I had the same issue. Resetting the sync history didn't fix it. I switched to syncing only a single, brand new calendar that wasn't published to an external server. This worked. . I then exported my main calendar and imported it to this new calendar. Everything still worked.
I then added in all my other calendars. All of these are subscribed calendars (read only), and I had about 7 of them plus the iCal generated Birthdays calendar. This worked too.
Finally, I switched iTunes to sync "All Calendars" and published the new main calendar I created in the first step to my home server. At this point things broke again...items created on the iPhone wouldn't sync. I removed "All Calendars" and manually selected every calendar in the list (so it's the same data now, but if I add a new calendar it won't automatically sync). This got things working again.
I'm not sure if that would have done it the first time, but it has fixed things now.
