ICal Preferences not showing

In web based iCal in iCloud, I select preferences under the settings "gear" icon, nothing happens, ie. no preference pane shows.
Anyone else experiencing this?
Bill

Update: In my case it was Ghostery that caused the preference pane to not show up. Disabling the Ghostery blocking solved the problem.
Ghostery is a neat program that blocks all junk javascripts from executing. Makes surfing a real pleasure and speeds it up no end. Not affiliated with Ghostery in any way, just a satisfied user of it.

  • ICal is not showing some past events since I upgraded to Lion.

iCal is not showing some past events since I upgraded to Lion. I can find the past events in mail but if I click and open them, they are not showing up on the calendar. Advice? I am trying to recreate my schedule from past meetings.

    I love computers.
Have managed to fix this already. Been working the issue for a few days now, and a few minutes after writing the above post I decided to reset the Time Capsule to factory default settings.
After entering all my details again (used same network names, passwords etc) the Time Capsule was rebooted. When it came back on line - guess what? Yep, the MyBook WD drive is now visibile. I can connect via the network from my other machines to the drive, and iTunes is back.
So - thought I would post my resolution in case it helps others.

  • After install snow leopard, ical does not show the events of some calendars

After I install snow leopard, ical does not show all the events, or simple does not show the events of some calendars that I created.
Can somebody solve this problem? Is there some update for ical?

    Try the following:
1 - Go to your user account home folder, and open the library folder within it.
Look for the folder named "Calendars" and inside you might find a bunch of different folders with weird names. If they are there that means your calendars might not be lost.
2 - Look for the file "Calendar Cache". That file might be corrupted. Trash it. You may want to save a copy of it elsewhere. Once trashed, re-open ical. This should force it to rebuild its library based on those folders with weird names you saw. Your calendars should be back. Good luck

  • ICal is not showing event time in month view

For some reason, the time of my events stopped showing in iCal.  I get the event, but the time doesn't show unless I click on the event.  The time does show in week view, but I prefer to use month view.  This has not been an issue in the past, so I don't know what happened or if I clicked on something accidentally.  I tried going to iCal preferences, but I don't see anything that allows me to select "show time in month view" which has been suggested by other usI'm using OS X Yosemite.  Thanks.

It appears that it is dependent on the size of the calendar window. If it is too squished to display, it won't.

  • ICal window not showing

When I start iCal the window is not showing. There is a menu bar that I can interact with plus any dialogs it generates through selections.
    Any ideas?

    Mike,
Tutorial: Preferences Files: The Complete Story, by Ted Landau:
Parts I & II, Part III, Part IV, and V is a very good .plist file explanation.
My short version: Property List (.plist) files contain instructions for recording and executing tasks associated with the the application or function that owns them. They can and do become corrupted. If you look in the ~Library/Preferences Folder you can usually guess what application or function the .plist serves by analyzing the file name. In your case I suspected com.apple.iCal.plist
Proper identification of the appropriate .plist is not always so obvious, but com.apple.iCal.plist is the preference file for iCal. When an application malfunctions, removing the associated .plist file from the preferences folder to the Desktop is often the best first troubleshooting step.
If you have a problem with an application, Quit the application, find the associated plist file in the Preferences Folder, and move it to the Desktop as a first step in your troubleshooting procedure. Then log out/in or restart and re-evaluate the performance of the application.
A new default .plist file is automatically created in your Preferences Folder after you remove the recalcitrant .plist and initiate the log out/in restart sequence. You can expect default application behavior and you will have to reset some preferences. If the application or function returns to normal after removing the .plist file, it will prove that the original file was corrupt, and you can now safely trash the .plist file which you placed on the Desktop.
If the application or function is unsatisfactory, the original copy of the plist file which was placed on the Desktop can be safely returned to the preferences folder. Just allow the system to replace the newer plist.
If you are having problems with any aspect of OS X, experiment with deleting the appropriate .plist file. Plist corruption is common and .plist file deletion often cures many problems. Too many users try intricate solutions first and end up complicating their problem.

  • Ical does not show the actual time

Hi, I got a new Mac a few weeks ago and ical seems not to be working. Every time I load a new event it always shows as 2pm and the rest of the hours are not displayed anywhere. Has anyone had this problem or something similar to it?

    dlb1977,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
I recommend that you experiment with changing your settings in System Preferences…International>Formats>
Choose Customize...>Dates/Times>Show> and change each entry (Short/Medium/Long/Full) to match your desires/requrements.
Also, choose iCal>Preferences...>Advanced>(✓) Turn on time zone support.

  • Icloud+ical holidays not showing on ipad 2

Hello, I am using Windows 8.1 enterprise  x64. I make my school schedule using iCloud.com  to make my calendars. I put some events that the college is not open for example, Family Day, Reading week, easter holidays. But when I check to see those "college closed" days on my iPad 2 it is not showing up those college holidays. But, when I make those holidays/events on the Ipad 2 then it automatically shows up on icloud.com. Why is it not showing up on the Ipad even though I have created those events on iCal in icloud.com ? Thank you.

  • ICal events not showing

Ever since I upgraded to OS Mavericks, some of my events are not showing up on iCal in the month view, particularly Sunday events that start at 12:00AM.

Instead of syncing ALL calendars, I selected a few and then synced. After syncing, I selected "Sync ALL" and all my calendars were sent to iPhone successfully. Hope this helps.

  • ICal events not showing in calendar

I have an issue syncing iCal with my iPhone. I do believe it is an iCal problem though.
Some events in iCal don't get synced to the iPhone and one event that does not show up in iCal shows up on the iPhone after sync.
Does anybody have any suggestions for troubleshooting iCal? Maybe repairing the iCal database? Tracing down problem events/calendars?
    Thanks

  • ICal Sync- Not showing location of event

Hello, my first ipod is becoming a nuisance. I want to be able to see more detail of the calendar events sent from ical or entourage for that matter. On the ipod each event shows up with the summary, date and time. No other information is shown. I need the location of these events. They are shown clearly on ical and entourage. Is this a limitation to the calendar on the ipod or am I doing something wrong? I have synced the calendar with iTunes and exported the file from ical into appropriate folder on the ipod. Both ways do not work.
    Any help will be welcome.

    David,
If I am understanding you correctly then your first issue is that while a person's birthdate can be an event in iCal and shows up as an event in the iPod calendar after you sync, if you pull up the person's contact information on the iPod it does not show the birthdate, even if you have manually added birthdate as a custom field in Address Book. That may be an iPod limitation. The iPod contact display includes names, addresses, phone numbers, web address, and notes. That's about it I think, although I haven't dissected it much. What I personally have always done is put birthdate in the notes. However, if iTunes sync treats custom fields in AB the same way it handles meeting locations, then the custom fields MAY be being passed to the iPod, they are just being ignored. If so, then it probably wouldn't be too difficult to write a Perl script to copy the birthdates into the notes field so that they show up on the iPod. That might be useful to folks, so I'll look into it.
The second issue you describe is AB's import ignoring the birthdate field that you have in your tab-delimited Filemaker Pro output file. If that doesn't work my only guess would be that it is because birthdate is not a standard field in Address Book. This may be a limitation of the import that would affect other non-standard fields as well, like Nickname or Maiden Name. I'm afraid I haven't played with the import though, so I do not know for certain.

  • Local iCal calendars not showing...

    Hi,
I set up calendars locally, but they are not showing up in my list. I tried a couple of times, which is why there are four calendars called 'no title'. However, I can only see them when I print a calendar. Then they are listed on the preview, but not selectable as calendars. Would like to delete them, but not sure how...?
    Thank you
    Clemens

This really helped me, as well. I had upgraded recently to iPhone 2.2 and have a Google Calendar WebDAV calendar set up in iCal, which was subsequently syncing to my iPhone. For whatever reason, the synchronization stopped working and after following your instructions to delete the Calendar Cache files (I had two of them) it started working again! Thanks

  • Quicktime preferences not showing

    Hi,
I recently installed windows 7 64 bit (not an option under operating system. Vista was closest). When I go to Quicktime player, then click EDIT for Preferences then finally click Quicktime Preferences. Nothing shows. Is there a registry edit or anything else I can do to have quicktime preferences show? I've already uninstalled and re-installed.
    Thanks for any help
UPDATE: Comodo firewall was the culprit even though I gave Quicktime full permission. Hope this helps someone also.

I am following the instructions per Apple Site on navigating the installation of QuickTime Pro Player Pro.  However, it is not showing uo in the SysPref and cannot register.
Follow the updated instructions for Snow Leopard, Lion, and Mountain Lion operating systems. Registration of QT 7 Pro using the System Preferences window has not been used on a Mac OS X OS since Leopard.
I tried registering it via entering the license via the program but it did not work either. Screen says that it is pro but does not go a way after entering reg license. When I try to use the Pro features they are not available.
What more do you want than to have the screen confirm that the "Pro" features have been activated. If it is the registration window you want to go away (close), then simply press the red circle in the upper right-hand corner to close the window. If you have made any changes to the system's QT codec component configuration or modified "legacy" codec use, also be sure to quit and re-open the application to rebuild the available codecs list. If you still don't have access to the "Pro" features, then apply normal system troubleshooting techniques.
    Am I missing something?
I don't know. It is difficult to tell since you haven't really indicated what you did do. However, since you indicated the registration window confirmed your name and code entries were accepted, I can only assume that you either failed to close the registration window, you failed to load an edit compatible file to the app (i.e., the editing features are context adaptive so you must open a file before they become available), or you loaded a non-edit compatible file for editing that is preventing the features you are expecting to be available.

  • ICal events not showing on month view

    Hi everyone,
I have been facing a strange problem with iCal: some events (random), despite they sync fine with my gcal, will appear only in day or week view, never in month view. This is extremely annoyning as one can miss an appointment or book two meetings at the same time. Anybody got this problem and found/know a solution to this? Thanks a lot
macbook pro, lion 10.7.2 iCal 5.0.1

    Hi again:
I just found out a simple solution for this issue. The problem is certainly an iCal bug and hopefully this will be fixed soon.
So, I just clicked on iCal preferences, set up monday as the starting day of the week and voila! The events are just there!
However, if you set it back for Sunday, events will be hidden again. Let's wait for this fix.
    Cheers.

  • System Preferences not showing all pictures in Desktop & Screensaver

This problem only happened recently, whenever i go into system pref to change my desktop i do not see all the preview pics from my picture folder. Even though i do not see them in the system pref window i can still click on them and it will still set them as my desktop. Would having alot of high res pictures make them not show in system pref?
    Ibook g4 12''   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

it is possible that with a large volume of large res pix in that folder that the little "preview icons" take some time to generate. Also, i have noticed that not all my graphic files will generate a "preview" even if the app in question can utilize and read the file.
