ICal preferences on my Mac not available on MobileMe?

I have iCal on my Mac set up to automatically generate an alarm and a message 24 hours before new events and to-dos.
When I add new items to iCal on MobileMe, those default settings aren't available. When iCal syncs, the items I added on MobileMe don't have the default alarms set.
What can I do?

Hmmmm, no takers on my question yet?

  • Find My Mac not available

I have just moved from MobileMe to the iCloud service and I was willing to use the Find My Mac feature. But, on the iCloud Preference Pane, the only option that is not available for clicking is the Find My Mac one. There is a message right below this option stating that I need an admin password to enable this. I have tried to put my admin password in other panes (clicking on the lock at the bottom of the pane), but the iCloud Pane seems not to recognize this. I really don't think this feature should only be enabled from the admin user account in my Mac, so perhaps there's a caveat I don't know of... Can someone help me?

See if you have a recovery partition installed. Hold down the option key while booting right after you hear the startup chime. Keep holding down the option key until you see the Apple Logo and spinning gear. If you don't see the recovery partition listed as an option from which to boot it has not been installed.
You can install the recovery partition by downloading the full 10.7.2 installer from the App Store and installing it over your current Lion installation. This should not overwrite any of your data but back up first just be safe.  In order to download from the Ap Store hold down the option key when clicking on the Purchases tab and the Install button should become active.
I don't use Boot Camp but it is my understanding that a hard drive with Boot Camp installed can not have more than four partitions. The recovery partition counts as a separate partition so if you have Boot Camp installed and four existing partitions the recovery partition will not install.

  • Server Admin iCal Overview shows info as "Not Available"

Next to each topic (Accounts, Calendars, Groups, Locations, Resources, Events & Todo Lists) Server Admin displays "Not Available". The iCal server is running and users are interacting with it OK. The disk usage is 0.0B, there are about 10,000 events.
Since this happened there have been problems accessing calendars via the web (hardly used so not sure what others are seeing).
I've checked & fixed the POSIX permissions for the /Library/CalendarServer hierarchy. I tried deleting the .db.sqlite files & letting iCal repopulate them.
All the settings are intact and haven't changed. The logs show no culprit entries, just the usual. /etc/caldavd/caldavd.plist does not appear to be corrupted.
    Ideas?

A hard drive started having RAID errors around 5/1, so the server is being rebuilt from scratch.
I'm still curious if anyone knows the how & why of this issue.

  • ICal Events on my mac not showing in reminders after upgrading to mountain lion

after upgrading to mountin lion, all calenders on my mac are not showing in the reminders app, only calenders on icloud. The irony is all calenders created on my mac have been reclassified on iCloud. This was done automatically during the last upgrade and I chose to have my calenders on iCloud, so now they are listed twice in the iCal, however, there seems to be a difference between entries. For instance if I turn off the work calender on my mac, different things are removed than if I turn of the work calender on iCloud - i don't understand how or why this happens. In Reminders those very same calenders that are listed as iCloud on the iCal are listed as "on my mac" in the Reminder app and do not show anything. The only calenders on the Reminders app that appear under "iCloud" are the ones that I created on my iPhone. All these calenders are showing the correct entries.
SO far not terribly impressed with Mountian Lion. I am also annoyed that it seems that I can no longer view all my entries from calender tasks at the same time like I used to be able to with Lion. This was very useful. It is now terribly inconvenient to have to check each calender and list in turn (I have nine) to be reminded, unlike in Lion with the list just to the side of iCal.
Any help with the above problem?

In the mailbox panel move your cursor slowly down the right hand side . Should reveal show and hide.

  • CS5 Preview in Finder (Mac) not available?

    Hi all,
I'm used to save a preview thumbnail with every ID file I make (a setting in InDesign preferences), so when I'm scanning a folder in Finder (Mac) I can almost instantly see what the contents of a certain ID file is. Well, was, until I switched to CS5.
Somehow I cannot see the preview/thumbnail image in de ID CS5 file in the Finder, in Bridge however, the preview is very good.
Am I missing something, or is the Finder not capable of showing InDesign CS5 previews.
I run Mac Snow Leopard 10.6.3

You were using a special program to see the CS4 thumbnails. It's not a native option from InDesign and/or Mac OSX.

  • Ical calendar on my mac not synching with iCloud

icloud calendars is checked in system preferences, however my ical appears empty on my macbook pro. Why is my iphone calendar not synching with ical in macbook pro even though icloud preferences are properly set up?

I wish I'd found this earlier.  Here's some info that takes Winston's solution a bit further:
I just spent a bunch of time with Apple and have solved my similar problem.  A week ago, iCal and my iPhone calendar stopped syncing.  My assortment of iCal calendars were gone from iCloud, so that was the problem (not phone to iCloud).  After much de-selecting and re-selecting, I realized that all my important calendars were @me.com type.  I tested the iCloud calendars, and they functioned perfectly.  Apple explained a simple way to migrate the @me.com calendars to iCloud:
Create a new iCloud calendar     File > New Calendar > iCloud
    Name the calender
Right click the old @me.com calendar and choose Export.  Desktop is a good destination.
Drag the exported calendar from your desktop to the new iCloud calendar
iCal should show duplicates of all events in the @me.com calendar.
De-select the @me.com calendar.  The duplicates will disappear.
Repeat with all the @me.com calendars and abandon this antiquated list.
Rejoice in your shiny new list of iCloud calendars that shows up everywhere it is supposed to.
There must be a lot of people out there who still have @me.com calendars, so I hope this info reaches them before they all spend time and money with Apple trying to sort it out.

  • ICal event file attachment does not show in mobileMe calendar or iPhone

I am new to iCal. I setup events in the iCal application. Under the edit option I added files to the events. I can open the files on my iMac. The files do not appear on the mobilMe website or my iPhone calendar.
    Any ideas?

iBooks appear in the separate iBooks app in OS X 10.9 Mavericks.
Audible handles only audiobooks. They can't help with any issue with an iBook.
    Regards.

  • Ical, sync issues with mac

When I create a new event on my ipod touch the event does not sync back onto the mac's ical app. This is with a good wi fi connection. I have push turned on and I have tried a manual sync via the cable.
    HELP?!?
Message was edited by: Nathan Guinle

So, which way are you syncing calendars? Over the air via MobileMe, or by connecting your iPod to your Mac to sync to iCal via iTunes?
If not syncing with MobileMe, try this:
Quit iTunes and disconnect the iPod
    Launch your iSync application
From the iSync menu choose Preferences
    Click "Reset Sync History"
Launch iTunes and connect the iPod and see if it syncs

  • I updated to OS X Mavericks and now trying to run Logic Pro X on a MacBook Pro mid-2009, using an M-Audio Axiom 49 and an M-Audio Fast Track Pro... Logic keeps telling me that Mac OS X MIDI Services are not available... How do I solve this problem?

I updated to OS X Mavericks and now trying to run Logic Pro X on a MacBook Pro mid-2009, using an M-Audio Axiom 49 and an M-Audio Fast Track Pro... Logic keeps telling me that Mac OS X MIDI Services are not available... How do I solve this problem?

I just checked to see if the update to OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 solved any of the issues outlined in my previous post, and to my dismay, nothing has changed -- all of the previous problems persist.
My iMac (8) -- it's renamed itself eight times since the recent troubleshoot with the Apple tech rep -- shows up as a shared device in Finder on my MacBook Pro, but when I click on it, I cannot establish a connection using "Connect As".  So I've attempted to connect using the menu "Go/Connect to Server...", using both (alternately) the iMac's name and IP address, to no avail.  I get a message which reads: "There was a problem connecting to the server 'Peter's iMac (8)'. This server may not exist or it is unavailable at this time.  Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again."
    Here's what I know:
    The server -- Peter's iMac (8) does exist;
    The server -- Peter's iMac (8) is available at this time;
    The server name -- Peter's iMac (8) -- is correct, as specified in the system sharing preferences;
    The server IP address is correct, as specified in the system sharing preferences;
The network connection is active when I attempt to connect.
I'm convinced the problems stem directly from the OS X Yosemite update.  None of this was ever remotely an issue in the previous OS X's -- any of them.  This is maddening!  What can be done?  Apple?? Anyone???

  • Account type "iCloud" not available on my iCal

I'm trying to sync up my iCal with my iPhone, etc.  However, while I can put an event in iCal, it will not show up on my iPhone/iPad, etc.  When I go to iCal>Preferences>Accounts>+>Account Type and hit the dropdown menu, the only options I see are "Automatic / CalDAV / Exchange 2007 / MobleMe / Google / Yahoo!"  There is no option for "iCloud".
When I try to create a calendar under "MobleMe" using my apple ID, I get the following error message:
The server responded with an error.
Access to account “[email protected]” is not permitted.
    The server responded:
    “HTTP/1.1 403 Forbidden”
    to operation CalDAVAccountRefreshQueueableOperation.
I know I'm using the correct apple ID and password.  I'm running iCal 4.0.4.  Any idea what's up?

    No, I am using a G5 not I g3. I forgot to change it
What computers do you show under System

computers are being synchronized using this .Mac
    account?
***** This may be the problem!!
It only shows this one computer on the above question. On my wife it only shows hers. Is it supposed to show both? If so how do I add them?
    Merle,
I do not know why it worked with the Address Book and
not the Calendar. That confuses me too
If so, you may want to ensure that you have Reset
.mac sync from all computers. Make sure that you have
    backed up your database (iCal>File>Backup
Database...) As stated in the Reset article, "If you
sync between computers with different versions of Mac
OS X, try to reset the sync data from the computer
with Mac OS X 10.4, if possible." I am using the same systems: 10.4.6
What computers do you show under System

the date on my computer shows a sync today as does my wifes.

  • MAC os x can connect to internet but shows Youtube server not available.

I am trying to connect to youtube on safari and firefox as well but I keep getting a message that the youtube serve is not available.  I can hook up to it with my labptop Dell, but my apple will not let me and it has been a month now.

Thanks,  Neville Hillyer. Your advice was helpful, but in os 10.4, mail 2.1.3, and Comcast setup advice online there were some port differences that solved the problem. Thanks to NH I saw the SSL option was not consistent on outgoing versus incoming; saw two different sequences to use mail preferences for setting up incoming versus outgoing; and saw on COMCAST set-up that they like 2 different port numbers. My other newer Macs have not had this problem (yet) which seems strange since I saw port 110 in all my Macs.
    Mail preferences:
a-- accounts Information tab type POP, my userid, mypassword, and on advanced tab incoming port  should be 995, SSL checked, Authentication should be Password
b-- accounts information incoming server mail.comcast.net, my userid and mypassword, outging server smtp.comcast.net:myuserid, server settings port 465, SSL checked.
c-- in this old version mail 2.1.3, there is not save button until I select another account and a pop-up indicates my account changed and offered the save button which I selected. Mail then asked for my account's password; after I entered it, the outgoing test emails went out immediately.
    Mail sending works again.
