ICal printer defaults

Every time I go to print out my calendar, I have to reset the printer preferences. I would like a default option that leaves the printer preferences as they were during the last printing session. Is there any way to do this now?

Hi,
I suggest you take a look a the Google Calendar online and check the reminders preferences there. In my Google Calendar (not using Google Apps) it's under Settings menu > +Calendar Settings+ menu item > Calendars tab > Notifications link (for the calendar you are interested in) > +Event reminders+ section.
Let us know how you get on.
Best wishes

Why does ical print out staring the week on tuesday?
Maybe the week starts one day later for the Yosemite dev team, but certainly not in my neck of the woods.
The actual print out also looks nothing like the new matt and  'flat' graphic style of Yosemite.
I suggest you start on monday next week and sort these issues out.

For many people that is the correct option. If you think it should be different, tell Apple, as they aren't listening here.

  • Ical print scripting

Hi, i was wondering if anyone knows how to write a script to make ical print out my scedual for the week. I have looked up scrpts for prtining and saving and all that stuff and i can get them to run both as applications and scripts in new events in my calender but i do not know how to make it print out the scedual. I assume that i would have to first save the calender and then print it so im lost. Thanks for the help -mike

It would not, I think, be an easy task. There is no way, AFAIK, to ask iCal to save the equivalent of the week display as a separate file. It would be possible to do it with GUI scripting, but this is not easy and generally not considered reliable.

You could take a look here - John Maisey has posted a script to print a daily schedule automatically.

  • Get Rid of 'Would You Like to make iCal Your default calendar application'

Since installing the Plaxo 'helper' / Pref Pane - I now get the following message every time I launch iCal (and Address Book) ...
'Would you like to make iCal your default calendar application?'
Even when selecting 'Make Default' it still asks the next time. Is there a setting in com.apple.ical.plist (or similar) that controls this that I can look at, or is there a terminal command to try setting this another way?
I'm bothered a) why I get this at all - suspect Plaxo b) why I can't just set this the once. Any help gratefully received.
If it is Plaxo monitoring and then setting/changing a flag on the fly it's soon going to be heading for the trash....

OK, here I am answering my own question... It turns out there's another Discussion which has the following solution:
I had the same message pop-up. I quite iCal and then went to ~/Library/Preferences and trashed the apple.ical preference [plist]. After that, I re-launched iCal and checked the box in the message box and it took that time.
I tried this... we'll see if it works for me.

  • Ical alarm default email is incorrect, how do I change it to match "my card" in address book.

When I create a new event in Ical the default email that appears in the ical alarm drop down menu is incorrect.  I have changed My Card in Address Book to match my new email address but ical still wants to use the old email address.  I have also completely deleted the old email account from Mail too.  Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

If you've updated the account to have the correct email email address on the other devices tap on the old id id in Settings > iTunes & App Store and log out of it and then log back in with the updated version of the account so as to 'refresh' the account on them.

On our 6-month old HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 Wireless A909g, we can't seem to figure out how to set the DEFAULT printing parameters so they really apply to all docs (unless we designate otherwise for a particular doc, of course).  When we set them, sometimes they work for the next doc, and sometimes they revert back to an earlier setting.
There seem to be three ways to set parameters for the printer: Properties, Printing Preferences or Printing Defaults on the Advanced tab.  (We really thought Printing Defaults on the Advanced tab would do it, since it's so hard to find, but ... NOT.)
My partner thinks it's an HP conspiracy to sell more ink because the reversion is to General with Color (the most ink-intensive, as far as I can figure out).  We are trying to fix the machine to start always with Fast-Economical/Black Ink Only.  Sometimes it's there and sometimes we have to re-jigger first.  We still have to check every time.
Also, I want to fix every job to "Print Back to Front" because the printer shoots out the pages face up.  Again, sometimes it's there, and sometimes we have to re-set before the job.
Also, whether we get the default we had set or we re-jigger first, the settings don't stick for every worksheet in an Excel workbook.  Or sometimes not even every page.
So, who out there has the 100% foolproof guide to NAILING DOWN THOSE SETTINGS FOR EVERYTHING?

  • HOW DO I CHANGE MY PRINT SETTINGS SO THAT THEY STAY SET TO MY PRINTER DEFAULTS?????????????????????????????????????????

This one issue is probably the one thing that would make me abandon Firefox FOREVER (besides the problems with Flash). If I change print settings for ONE COPY I have nothing but HELL trying to get my print settings BACK to my PRINTER defaults. Why can't Firefox be like the REST of the computer world and have the PRINTER DEFAULTS override Firefox?????
I made a change yesterday and I have NOT been able to get it changed BACK to the defaults.
    Is thois too complicated?

  • Change Printer Default Page size to A4 from Letter in Firefox

Firefox overides printer default page size every time I print. I need Firefox to print to A4 but it automatically sets the Page size to Letter. I have to manualy change the size each time I print.
There are no options in Firefox to change this setting permanently. I am running the latest version of Firefox on Windows XP.
In control panel the default page size is set to A4 which Internet Explorer and other applications use correctly.
    Thanks,

I solved it! For anyone having a similar problem try this.
Change the default printer, choose another one.
Change something in that printer and close firefox.
Reopen firefox and choose yet another printer (not the first one).
Change something in that printer and close firefox again.
Reopen firefox and choose the first printer. Select A4 as default paper and close firefox one last time.
Reopen firefox and the problem should be gone. Weird, innit?

  • Change printing default presets?

Whenever I print, currently on an Epson NX420, I have to go in and change one of the presets for color options to OFF (no color adjustments) and I'd like this to be the default. Some pages seem to take a very long time to print if I haven't changed this setting.
I can create a new preset; but would like to change the default altogether.

You can change the printer defaults via the CUPS web page. But by default, the CUPS page is blocked. To enable it, open Terminal and type "sudo cupsctl WebInterface=yes" (without the quotation marks). Enter the admin password when prompted and then refresh the browser view.
With CUPS web page open, select the Printers tab and then select the printer you want to modify. Then from the Administration drop menu, change to "Set Default Options".
This will show a new page with four menu headings (links); Options Installed, General, Banners and Policies. Select General.
Scroll down the list until you find the option you want to set as default.
With the option select you then need to scroll down the list to the bottom of the page where you will see the ‘Set Default Options’ button.
When you click the 'Set Default Options' button you will then be presented with an authentication window. Enter the account name and password that has been set as the admin for this Mac. And then press the Log In button. You will then see another page stating that the information change is completed.
You can now exit the CUPS admin page and check that the change is set.

  • Windows 8 - printer default preferences per profile

    Hello,
Let me begin with stating that I have no idea if this question is in the correct forum, so I apologize prior to asking.  Maybe someone could point me in the right direction if so.
The issue I'm having is pretty simple, I have 5 Dell XPS laptops running windows 8 x64, about 20 users on the domain and a bizhub c454 network printer.  The printer is installed locally on the laptops using the port/ip option.  When a user logs
in,  the default printer settings - 1/2 sided, color/grey scale etc.... do not stick when a different user logs in, even when I set them under the advance tab (printer defaults).  Looking for help with this while trying to avoid using the server
as a print server or any print server for that matter.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Erik

    Hi,
We may have several options to try to implement. Just for your reference but I have no such environments for testing these methods:
Option 1: Try to config the INF file with your prefered configuration and deploy this driver for all users.
Option 2: You can configure one computer and export the configuration registy keys and use Logon script to deploy to others. [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Printers\DevModePerUser] and [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Printers\DevModes2]
Option 3: If you have printer server, you can refer to this article:
Defining default printer setting for all users (including network users)
    http://kb.nicelabel.com/index.php?t=faq&id=148
This response contains a reference to a third party World Wide Web site. Microsoft is providing this information as a convenience to you. Microsoft does not control these sites and has
not tested any software or information found on these sites; therefore, Microsoft cannot make any representations regarding the quality, safety, or suitability of any software or information found there.
    Option 4:
Get help from the printer manufacturer to get detailed settings.
    Hope these could be helpful.

  • Printer defaults not propogating down to clients

I've set up a copy of server 08 r2 as a print server for my organization. It is currently managing the print jobs for 5 printers, all Ricoh/Lanier. When I set up printer defaults like two-sided black and white the defaults do not show up on the print properties
page for clients. I've replaced the driver by Ricoh/Laniers recommendation but the settings still do not apply to the clients. Any thoughts on how to force the settings out to desktop clients?

One way to work around the problem is to modify the default Presets that are built-in to the driver.  The only downside (apart from the complexity) is that you have to push out a new print queue each time you want to change the Presets. See the proceedure
    below.
Install the free 7-Zip file compression program
Download the driver file from the Ricoh website
Expand the driver files as normal
Install the standard driver on a PC,
Create the presets you want to make the default.
Export the additional presets to a json text file using
    Manage Presets.
Open the json files with a text editor,
make sure the name_id field matches the json filename without the extension.
The folder where the driver is expanded to should contain file called
rica66cf.cfz, (this file is actually a compressed directory).
    Open the 7-Zip program.
    Navigate to the rica66cf.cfz file,
right click the file and select 7-Zip > extract
Select the same folder as the driver files as the destination,
a new folder called rica66cf will be created.
In the decompressed folder navigate to the gui/shortcut folder.
The folder will contain a list of the standard presets that come with the driver.
Open the shortcut_settings.json file with a text editor (notepad)
modify the factory_shortcuts field to include all the defaults you want to be included in the modified driver (separated with commas and enclosed in Quotations)
make sure the name is the same as the json file without the  extension as per 5.1 above.
    Save the file.
Using 7-Zip navigate back to the original rica66cf.cfz compressed file.
Right click and select Open Outside.
The directory structure of the compressed file is shown in
    7-Zip,
    Navigate to the gui/shortcut  folder
In windows explorer,  navigate to the expanded
    rica66cf folder
Drag and drop your modified shortcut_settings.json file on to the open shortcut folder in 7-zip
Confirm to replace the original Ricoh file.
Also drag and drop the additional json shortcut files on to the same window, these will be added to the compressed folder.
Close the 7-Zip window to save the compressed file.
Open the OEMSETUP.INF file in the driver folder with a text editor,
Modify the DriverVer field and increment the driver version  e.g from 12/14/2012,1.2.0.0 to 04/15/2013,1.2.0.1 .
    Save the file.
You can now delete the uncompressed (rica66cf) folder
Install the driver on the server by selecting the OEMSETUP.INF and share out as you would normally do.
    Presets should be installed.

  • Setup printer defaults settings in BI reports

    Hi,
Our client has given us some new requirements to be able to setup printer defaults settings in BI reports so that when the user opens up the report the printing format is set for them. All the user has to do is refresh the BI report and then it will print correctly for them, with Headers and Footers.
Now, I know we can not do this with the Query Designer, but we may be able to do it with workbooks, but what I don’t know is if there are other options we can take to do this.  Such as the Report Designer? I have never used the Report Designer so I don’t know if we can build reports using the Report Designer and that the user can access and run this report from somewhere such as the portal.
Can any one please help in this regard.
