ICal printing days of the week

Have just up upgraded to Yosemite and have a problem when printing the calendar. Set start day of week in preference to Monday, which is fine on screen. When you print Monday is the last day of the week???

Icheney,
1. Open System Preferences...>Language & Text>Formats>Region: and set/re-set the appropriate region.
2. Find and resolve duplicate fonts with Mac 101: Font Book

  • TS4118 When I print out my ical calendars, there are three duplicate events happening every day of the week and I never entered this event?

    When I print out my calendars from ical, there is one event that is reoccurring 3x/day/every day of week! It is not showing on the actual calendar and I cannot figure out how or where it's coming from? It's in the calendar marked Jimmys action which just shows my sons activities and for this activitiy, I put one day with a recurring weekly on just two days of the week at a specific time and this is showing up as well and correctly? What should I do to remedy this?

    UPDATE: I think I found the answer to my problem. I travel between two time zones and recently started listing event times as "floating" so they don't get messed up when I travel between west and east coasts. It seems that when I want to print out a calendar sheet, the time of the event doesn't show up if it's a "floating" event. So, I need to go back to putting a time zone in and turning off "time support" in Preferences for iCal. BTW this (in reverse) is a solution for those who don't want to see appointment times printed out – make it a "floating" event.

  • Wrong starting day of the week printing calendar in month view

    I'm trying to print a month view calendar with the weeks starting from Monday.
    In "Preferences" -> "General tab" ->"Start week on:"  I've set Monday, and it is properly viewed in Calendar, but when I try to print it in the preview I see Tuesday as first day of the week.
    This happens on many MacBook that I've tried, all with Yosemite and Italian regional settings.
    The only way to resolve this issue is to open "System Preferences" ->"Language & Region" and change the "First day of the week:" on Sunday in all my "Preferred Languages" (both Italian and English), to have the printing preview of a calendar starting on Monday!
    Is there an other way?
    Is this a bug that should be submitted to Apple to get a "patch" on future releases of Mac OS X?
    I know, it is a tiny issue, but annoying.

  • Is there any way to change the first day of the week back to Monday in iCal for iPhone?

    With the new upgrade, iCal in my iphone is now showing Sunday as the first day of the week.
    Is there a way to change it back to Monday as the first day of the week?

    Hi! The only way I know of is changing the screen resolution. Tom

    Or the JSTL <fmt:formatDate> tag...
    Or, or, or...What about getting an instance of java.util.Calendar, invoking toString(), and then parsing the resultant string to find the day of the week? ;-)

  • ICal encoding issue? I can't see the days of the week anymore...

    I recently upgraded to Mavricks on my MacBook Pro. The first time I got a Google invite, the days of the week and dates turned into these weird "A in a box" characters. Anyone know what gives or how I can fix it? Screen shot below.

    Cindy,
    Font Book 198: Resolve duplicate fonts may be helpful.
    Also open System Preferences...>Language & Region> and set/re-set the appropriate "Region:."

  • First day of the week in calendar

    In the UK (as in many countries) the week starts on Sunday and calendars normally reflect this. With iPhone the week starts on Monday (in UK) but in Ireland it starts on Sunday. I really can't use a calendar showing Monday as the first day of the week (it's too confusing when compared to printed calendars and iCal on the computer). If I set iPhone calendar to Ireland that's fine for a while but soon it reverts to UK and Monday. Is it possible to make this calendar show the correct day all the time?

    Yes, it's possible, by changing Settings > General > International > Region Format to something other than the UK. Setting it to the United States will give you a week starting on Sunday. But, that setting also controls the way dates and phone numbers are displayed, so those are affected as well. But, maybe that's already how you already "set iPhone calendar to Ireland," in which case, I'm not sure why it's reverting back, unless it's resulting from when you sync the phone to your computer.

  • Setting the first day of the week

    Hi,
    Is there any other place in Mac OS X where I could set system's first day of the week, except iCal? In iCal it's set to Sunday, but in OmniFocus mini calendars show Monday as the first day of the week, although even there in OmniFocus preferences I've set it to use Sunday as the first day of the week. Developer says that OmniFocus is using system's settings, but nowhere in my system (except iCal) I can find where I could set the first day of the week. I have set English as the default language and order of list sorting in the International settings. Any ideas or suggestions?

    Unless it is set with the Country in the International preferences, I don't think their tech support knows what they are talking about. However, if that is where it would be set, you should be able to override it with the custom settings, but you can't.
    I'd ask them to tell you where that gets set, or is stored. Ask them what system call is used to get that value. My guess is they won't be able to tell you.

    I have several recuring alarms set up on iCal for each day of the week. In the past few weeks, an alarm will occasionaly notify me roughly 15 minutes to an hour and a half late. These daily alarms are identical and repeat every day and there seems to be no apparent pattern to why or when an alarm happens after the event is past.

    I assume you meant iCal rather than iTunes? Yes, iCal the time zone is correct. The delayed alarms only happen sporadically. Since I posted this message, the problem stopped happening every day at the same time, but it still happens occasionally with no rhyme or reason as to when. It's gotten so that I can't depend on my iCal alarms anymore.

  • Can I change the first day of the week on my ipod touch

    I have a new Ipod touch, which i recently upgraded to OS 3.0. I was wondering if it is possible to set the first day of the week in Ical to Sunday instead of Saturday?
    Thanks

    The International Region Format controls the start day of your calendar display. UK region format sets the display to start on Monday. US region format will start the calendar on Sunday. However, that setting also controls your date, time and phone number formats, so using it would only cause you more problems.
    Tell Apple you want the option to set the calendar week start independent of the international region format using the feedback page. http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipodtouch.html

  • After iOS 5 upgrade, my calendar starts on the wrong day of the week

    I've upgraded my iPhone to iOS 5. My region is still selected as Australia, but Sunday is showing up as the first day of the week now.
    I have not yet upgraded my iPad. It shows Australia as the region format and is correctly displaying Monday as the first day of the week.
    So it appears that the iOS 5 update changes some details of the Australia region format.  Does anyone know of a way to manually select the first day of the week?  Thanks.

    I can confirm that the start day of the week is determined by the Region Format setting (insanely). My girlfriend is still on iOS 4.3.5 and has a Region Format of Australia, and has the week starting on Monday. Apple must have changed it to Sunday in iOS 5.
    The best workaround country I've found so far is Namibia!
    Tap on Settings > General > International. change Region Format to Namibia.
    Different regions affect different things. If you choose UK, you get the week starting on Monday, but the clock changes to 24 hr and the phone numbers format the UK way.
    The only downside of Namibia so far is that you no longer get ".au" as an option if you're typing a web address and you hold down the ".com" button on the keyboard.
    Apple needs to add a "First Day of Week" option in the Calender preferences, like they have in the iCloud Calendar preferences and iCal preferences (which are both ignored on the iPhone and iPad!).
    Even Americans are complaining about this. It must be the easiest fix in the world, yet they still haven't done it.

    Hi,
    OMG! How bizzarre, another quirk of the "Region Fortmats" setting.
    *Settings > General > International > Region Format*
    If I set mine to U.K. (where I happen to live), Monday is apparently the first day of the week on the calendar and I have no 12/24 hour clock option.
    If set to U.S., Sunday is the first day and the 12/24 hour clock option is available.
    I guess changing the Region is your answer.
    How odd! Not to say irritating.
    Dud.

  • Days of the Week/Months are listed as numbers

    My computer has recently been updated and rebooted, and since then my iCal has displayed the date, days of the week, etc differently.  iCal does not display any months or days of the week- they are simply just numbers.  I haven't been able to see that this is a setting- can anyone help? Thanks!

  • How can I get the day of the week to display in ical5?

    I can only see the date, e.g. 20, 21, 22 but not the day of the week, e.g. 20 Wednesday, 21 Thursday. How do change this view?  Thank you

    You need to create a stringwriter, wrap it in a printwriter, then print to the printwriter, then convert the stringwriter to a string.
    Here's an example:
    StringWriter sw = new java.io.StringWriter();
    PrintWriter pw = new java.io.PrintWriter(sw);
    e.printStackTrace(pw);
    String strError = sw.toString();
    I hope this works. I didn't test the above code. I don't think I'm leaving anything out, but it's been a while since I've done it. Either way, it should get you on the right track to get what you need.
    Hope that helps.

  • Add recurring entries for days of the week

    Hello,
    I'm trying to setup a daily schedule for my dog walking business. I'd like to have each dog's name automaticaly listed under the day of the week which they are to walk on.
    For example: "Scarlett" walks on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
    If B1 says "Tuesday" can I have one of the cells in that column automatically read "Scarlett" each week?
    I'd like to have it so that all I have to do is put Tuesday up at the top and it automatically creates a list of my Tuesday dogs for me, Lulu, Scarlett, Mark, Dani, Zoe, Sharky, etc.

    Ah, those famous words, "All I have to do..."
    Here's a partial solution. Unfortunately, it doesn't cover the "all I have to do" part. More about that in the description. Click the image for a larger version.
    Table 1 (Data) is the table on which the name of each dog is entered (column A) and the days that dog is to be walked recorded using check box cells.
    Table 2 (Index) creates a set of lookup tables from the information recoded on Data. Each table contains a column for the day listing a serial number to represent each dog scheduled to be walked that day and the column containing the names of the dogs, plus any intervening columns. The list of dogs has bee moved to the right as I was considering using VLOOKUP, which requires the search values to be listed to the left of the result values.
    Tables 3 through 9 are the daily lists. These were created as a single seven-column table, then split into separate single column tables for each day.
    Formulas:
    Data: No formulas on this table.
    Index:
    A2: =IF(Data::B,MAX(A$1:A1)+1,"")
    Fill down to row 10, then select A2:A11 and fill right to column G.
    H2: =Data::A
    H2 (enhanced): =IF(LEN(Data::A)>0,Data::A,"")
    Fill down to H11
    (Enhanced version prevents showing a zero on rows where no dog's name has been entered on Data.)
    Days:
    Make a seven column table with one header row.
    A1: Sunday
    Fill right to G1.
    A2: =IF(ROW()-1>MAX(Index :: A),"",LOOKUP(ROW()-1,Index :: A,Index :: $H))
    Fill down to A11. Select A2:A11, Fill right to column G.
    Separate the table into seven single column tables, one for each day.
    To do this:
    Click on any cell to make the table active and show the column and row reference tabs.
    Click one of the column reference tabs to select that column.
    Click the same tab a second time and drag down until the column separates from the rest of the table. Continue to drag until the column is completely separated from the table, then release the mouse button.
    Repeat for the rest of the columns to be separated.
    Each of these tables may be placed on a separate sheet to make printing a single list easier if desired.
    Regards,
    Barry
