Ical printing non-existing events

Hi,
When printing from ical, I Am seeing events printed that do not appear on my ical calendar. They are events that were long ago changed or deleted. Any thoughts?

Evolution Calendar displays old, non-existing events from Google Calen

I attached a screen shot of evolution calendar for an easy explanation of the issue. Most of the events on that day are repeated events which ended very long ago (i.e.they are not in the Google calendar for that particular day). Does anybody know how to tell Evolution not to show those already-ended events?

I can no longer create an event on iCal by double clicking on a time or date, nor can I double click on an existing event! HELP!

The only way I have to create an event is by using the "+" button, which is very limiting!
I am running the latest version of Mac OS X and all the updates.
Anyone know how I could get a proper use of my iCal ?

If you list the steps you have taken to fix this it will help.
Have you tried using the File > New Event menu item?
Have you logged the user account out/ restarted the computer?
Have you tried un-syncing any accounts synced to Calendar?
Is there some change made to the computer that may have triggered this?

I have created events in the new iCal application. How to change an existing event? I double clicked and the pop-up will not allow me to change anything??

Hello slowsf,
You should be able to select the text and start typing to change the name. If you want to change the time, you can drag the time up or down in the calendar or just start typing the time on the start and end time. Take a look at the articles below for more information on how to change the event and what possibly could be the issue if you cannot edit it.

Non-Busy Events in iCal Leopard

Does anyone know if it is possible to create a non busy event in iCal under Leopard?
I want to set up some informational multi day events, but do not want them to show as busy so that I can still have meetings scheduled during this period. I can find no options to mark an appointment or event as non-busy. The result is that if anyone tries to invite me to a meeting during one of these events I am automatically shown as busy and this ruins the availability window as well (blocks out my entire day).
This makes the shared calendars very limited in what we can use them for. An actual example, I want to show a change freeze in my calendar for three weeks and make it available to everyone. I put it in a shared calendar and I am unavailable for scheduled meetings for three weeks!
I appreciate that there are other ways to distribute the information but this is the best way for us, and it just does not work.

One idea I have is for you to create a to do for each day and fill in the description you want in the note field - title of the to do would include the day as part of the header so your co-workers would know there is a "note" for each day. That way you do not show up as busy either on those days.

ICal hangs while opening an existing event

I am having so much trouble with iCal on my MacBook 2007 running Lion 10.7.1.
When I try to open an existing event to edit, everything is frozen for 15 to 20 seconds. I know that's not a long time in the big picture of things, but still, it's quite annoying.
I have seen 2 different Geniuses at the Apple Store and both were stumped.
Is it just because my computer is so old? It's barely over the edge of qualifying to use Lion.
Any ideas would be welcome. Thanks very much.

OK. I exported the iCal archive and then re-imported it. Now it is freezing and I had to force quit.
I have other things I need to attend to now. I'll try again.
I wonder if my computer is just too old.

Simulating a non-existent printer

SIMULATING A NON-EXISTING PRINTER
Before buying an expensive colour laser I would like to be able to take it for an imaginary test drive at home, check out all the printer options, generate Postscript files for the printer, and so on. Just play around with it basically. Then when I test drive in the store, I already am familiar with the printer and can really put it through its paces.
So, is it possible to simulate having a printer if all the PPD files, and whatever other files are needed, are in the system but there is no printer connected? Or does the Mac require the printer to be present and have a two way conversation with it? I've used HP and Xerox installers but can never get the printer to come up under Print Centre, because I suppose there's no printer connected.

Hi Guy,
As you mentioned, the driver may not work if it can't actually find the printer. I've done this a few times myself. Every so often, the driver will work. Which is nice because then you can see all of the print and color options. Just as easy though is to go to the manufacturer's web site and download the user manual. They almost always have these as a PDF document.
Beyond the actual use of the printer, color is another issue. Since all papers affect how color will look from the same printer, there's no way to tell what you'll get in regard to color unless you print on the paper you will be using. Better of course to profile it first if there is no profile from the manufacturer for the type of paper you want to use. But then you need profiling software and hardware.

Have you tried to open the last message in a new window?
If that includes the messages you do not want to print, you could limit the printing to e.g. the first page (in the print dialog).

But the problem is, that I have always this error message:
ORA-22285 -> non-existent directory or file for FILEOPEN operation
I'd create a direcotrie and over utl_file.fopen I can write a file to this directorie, but this works over the path, not over the directory name. the utl_file_dir parameter was also set to the correct path. Whats wrong or how can I debug this problem?

ICal has stopped showing events for Sundays only in the month view.

iCal has stopped allowing events to be entered or viewed on Sundays from the Month view. If I double click on a date on the month view, for a Sunday, nothing happens on the screen but if I go to the day view there is a default New Event on the day.
If I enter an event from the day view it does not appear on the Sunday in the month view.
On previous Sundays where events already exist I can add a new event from the month view. If I add an event using google calendar from Chrome it appears on the Sunday and then I can add event from the month view.
This just recently started happening.
I am using Mavericks 10.9.1 with iCal Version 7.0 (1835.1).

Quit Calendar, then try removing the com.apple.iCal.plist file from your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder. To find that folder, use Finder>Go Menu>Depress the "Option" key>Library, and open the Preferences Folder. Drag the com.apple.iCal.plist file to your desktop, and log out/in or restart and check Calendar for functionality.

Ical print scripting

Hi, i was wondering if anyone knows how to write a script to make ical print out my scedual for the week. I have looked up scrpts for prtining and saving and all that stuff and i can get them to run both as applications and scripts in new events in my calender but i do not know how to make it print out the scedual. I assume that i would have to first save the calender and then print it so im lost. Thanks for the help -mike

It would not, I think, be an easy task. There is no way, AFAIK, to ask iCal to save the equivalent of the week display as a separate file. It would be possible to do it with GUI scripting, but this is not easy and generally not considered reliable.

I recently upgraded to snow leopard and now every time i open iCal i get multiple events to update in iCal. Except I don't know where these are coming from or why. I've check iCal preferences and Help - can't find a way to stop this from happening automatically. Any Clues? Also, some of the events are already on my calendar and have been for quite some time.

What do you mean by "events to update"? Do you mean invites to new events or changes to existing invites?
Troubleshooting:
1. Your profile indicates you are running 10.6.7, 10.6.8 is the current version Apple > Software update.
2. First make an iCal backup: Click on each calendar on the left hand side of iCal 1 at a time highlighting it's name and then going to File Export > Export and saving the resulting calendar file to a logical location for safekeeping.
3. Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.ical
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache if present)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
---NOTE: Removing these files may remove any shared (CalDAV) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.
3. Launch iCal and test.

Existing Event Modifications Not Showing on Subscribed Cal

I am using iCal (3.0.8) to subscribe to a Web-based calendar that's hosted on a FirstClass collaboration/groupware system. Everything is working fine except that modifications to existing events aren't coming through to iCal.
New events, and event deletions show up in iCal, but if an existing event is modified at the FirstClass end, the modification does not show up in iCal upon refreshing.
In poking around a bit, I found that if I do a "Get Info" on the subscribed calendar in iCal and toggle any one of the three "Remove" options, modifications will then come through. Any further modifications to the original calendar do not come through however, until I toggle one of the Remove options again.
For example:
1) I modify an existing event in the original calendar.
2) Upon hitting refresh in the iCal, I see that the modification did not come across.
3) I do a Get Info on the subscribed calendar in iCal. All three of the Remove options are checked (Alarms, Attachments, To Do Items).
4) I uncheck Alarms and close the Get Info window.
5) Upon refreshing I see that the modification has come through.
6) I go back to the original calendar and modify another event, then go to iCal and do a refresh.
7) The new modification does not come through.
8) I go back to Get Info on the subscribed calendar and recheck Alarms.
9) After closing the Get Info window and hitting refresh, the new modification again comes through.
In experimenting, it doesn't seem to matter what combination of checked/uncheck Remove options I use. Turning any one of them on or off will allow event modifications to come through for that one refresh session. Subsequent modifications do not come through until I go in and again change the state of one of the Remove options before refreshing.
Does anyone know what the problem is here? Is there any way to get event modifications to come through without manual intervention? Is this a bug? A known issue? Could this be a FirstClass issue instead of an iCal issue?

Unity connection 8.5 location requesting non existing dependent during replication

We have 2 cluster of Unity connection 8.5 both in HA (4 servers total). One cluster in city A et the other cluster in city B. Last week, replication between both clusters broke after the creation of a user on cluster A that had duplicated entries/conflicts in cluster B. We deleted the user from cluster A to bring the replication back, but the user never got deleted from cluster B. We went ahead and manually pushed the DB from A to B, problem solved, the user disappeared from Cluster B.
Here is where it gets interesting, since that event, Cluster B requests every 40 minutes or so that Cluster A provides information on a dependant object. A delay is present in the response from Cluster A, and a CUReplicator error shows up in RTMT with an PKID object number. That dependant object was traced back to be the EndUser PKID of the problematic user mentioned above. As you may guess, that user is nonexistent, we erased it. I queried the enduser table in the hope of finding a loose end, nothing on all clusters. I queried in the distribution list tables on Cluster B, thinking that the user may have been a member of a Cluster B distribution list,,,no luck.
So anybody has any idea how I can track a non existing dependence and stop Cluster B from asking for it?
