ICal problems

I like the monthly view in my iCal. However, ever since I made the upgrade to OS X Mavericks, the iCal monthly view shows an additional week for the next month in the current monthly view. Is there a way to get rid of it so that my calendar is only restricted to the month of October and doesn't include a week of November (Nov 3-Nov 9)? Also, can we change the default color/background of iCal?

Look at March, 2014, and August, 2014. Those are two examples of months in which the month actually does have days that span six weeks. I suppose that's the rationalization for presenting six weeks in the month view.

Serious ical problems after 10.6.3 update

dear forum,
since my update to 10.6.3 ical has serious problems.
right after the update ical reported that it had not the rights to access to the calendar cash file.
after some days this problem fixed itself. but since then ical has a very strange behavior:
the last event pops up at least every hour and i cannot make any changes in the calendar. e.g. when i delete an event it reappears a second later. despite of this the system update starts every day and i cannot change the frequency of updates in the system preferences.
does somebody know any help?

p.s.:
i just recognized that things are even worth. in addition to the ical problems safari does not remember any bookmark i made. after relaunch the new ones are gone, only the bookmarks i made before the 10.6.3 update remain there.

ICal problem--an error box comes up an won't go away. I can't close the error box and I can't activate the calendar because the error box needs to be cleared. There is no place on the box to click in order to close it.

I have a problem that just affects iCal. An error box popped up when I was trying to past something into a new appointment. The box blocks me from using the calendar. I can't clear the error box. It has nowhere to click to close it. Nothing happpens when I right click it. I have force closed iCal, but when it reopens the error box is still there blocking any use of the calendar. There is no error number, just a copy of the text I was trying to paste.

Try this.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

ICal - problem creating events in Exchange calendar

Hi All, this is a weird one to describe, so please bear with me...!
My client is on Snow Leopard at the moment, so does not yet have access to iCloud (upgrading remains an option but he is in no hurry). He is, however, having a confusing time of it using iCal on his Macbook.
He has linked iCal to his corporate Exchange account, and certainly he can view all the events within his iCal. However, when he creates a new event, it does not get created within the Exchange calendar, but rather in his local calendar, and then gets overlaid, visually, on top of the Exchange calendar. Consequently, this created event does not synchronise with his iPhone, because it is only "known about" on his local MacBook. Sorry if this sounds a little confusing, but do you guys see the problem?
Another, minor-ish, point is that the new event he creates locally always gets colour coded in a way that he seems to have no control over. Can anyone explain how the colour coding gets determined when a new event is posted?
To sum up then, he seems only to be able to read events in his Exchange calendar, but cannot add events in a way that they then get synced correctly.

Google calendar and iCal problem

I use the google calendar with iCal. And I use the google calendar week numbers and holidays.
Before I installed lion, I had snow leopard and everything worked great.
But now, with Lion, it doesnt.
It's totally random, sometimes when I start iCal the week numbers and holidays are shown, but
shortly, after it have synced the calendars the week numbers and holidays dissappear.
And then I can try to restart it a couple a times, but nothing happens. But after a reboot it syncs, and then the
week numbers and holidays appear again.
Anyone else experiencing the same problem?

had the same problem. Think I'll switch back to Snow Leopard in a few days, as it has not such a high amount of bugs and it is more stable. Addtitionally it doesn't exhaust your hardware in an extend, lion does.
Let's get it to your problem:
As a Lion, iCal and Google user I had the same problem. Just got it fixed by deleting the Google CalDAV Profile in the iCal settings. When done, just add your Google account to your iCal again and voilà, that gave me back all my entries including week numbers and holidays.
Hadn't had the possibility to test if this solves the problem permanently. But I think so, as there are some other programs for example, that you can get back to work by reinstalling them, after they stopped working since Lion update.

ICal problem creating event in month view

iCal does not allow me to create an event when in Month View. I used to be able to double click a date in Month View and could easily create an event. It does allow in Week View, but I like to use Month View. Anyone have this problem> Solution? Thanks!

IOS - iCal problem - Events appear as "all-day" whereas they shouldn't

There is a bug in iOS when dealing with events in UTC times.

Exactly.
In the event's details, times are OK, but in the listing, event appears as all-day.
But why only for 6.30 to 7.30? When i change times to 5.30 to 6.30, it shows fine.
It appears to be related to the interpretation of time-zone information. We provide the game times in UTC format and count on your device's calendar program to make the appropriate adjustments for the local time zone. When the provided UTC times span two days (e.g. 11:30pm - 12:30 am, before time zone adjustment), IOS seems to mislabel the event as "all-day".

Simultaneous Mail and iCal problems - iCal shows old to-dos

I was getting ready for my weekly backup, so I ran all the cleaning activities in OnyX. Then when I logged in after the restart, Quicksilver crashed on me 3 times in a row and acted as if I was installing it for the first time. I did not, however, have to completely reset Quicksilver. It did remember most of my settings.
Once I dealt with Quicksilver, I launched SuperDuper for the back up. SuperDuper, however, asked me to register the software. I've had to re-enter license numbers for other products, so I didn't think much of it. I launched Mail to find the message with my registration info, and that's when I started freaking out.
Mail and iCal launched simultaneously even though I clearly selected just Mail in Quicksilver. Mail displayed the welcome screen and asked me to set up a new account. iCal displayed about 30 alarms dating from early 2006 to today (9/22/2007). It also asked me if I wanted to changed the time zone setting in iCal to match the change on the computer. My calendars seemed in tact in iCal, but my to-do list is completely outdated. I now have old action items dating back to 8/2006.
After several other trouble shooting steps detailed in another post (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1145401), Mail opened up by itself (no iCal) and all my accounts and messages were there.
iCal, however, still has all the old to-do items.
Does anyone know or have any idea why this happened and how I can fix the to-do list?

No problem with Calendar but Mail keeps syncing with the server. The activity window is full all the time - apparently re-syncing though no new mail is downloaded. Rang in but they have no idea what's causing it and have sent diagnostic to engineers. In 10.8, just a quick burst of activity when mail was checked for but now it's constant. As a result, emptying the Deleted Items mailbox is very slow. Am worried about the amount of bandwidth being eaten up.

ICal Problem, everyday in iCal is monday

i have a problem in apple's iCal since i use Snow Leopard on my MacBook. I have a iMac and it run's with Leopard (iCal works on my iMac without any problem).
My problem is that iCal shows me everyday in the weekview as Monday. I tried already to change the days per week from 7 to 5 without any effect so back to 7 days per week. I also tried to change the start of week from Monday to Sunday but also this without any effect
iCal shows me the days of week in the monthview without problems but in the weekview i got always Monday.
have any one of you an idea?
what i notice is that i got the whole week (Money - Sunday) when i print that calender.

ICal Problem with Mobile Account/Home and where are the calendars stored

I am using MacMinis in an office with my MacPro SnowLeopard Server running LDAP with NetworkHome accounts. Almost everything works except this ical is driving me nuts.
The problem is iCals don't sync with the NetworkHome. When I look in usr/library/calendars a new calendar appears there but it won't sync on to a different machine.
What is even more frusterating, if I disconnect the server so I am just logging in locally, I can delete all the calanders in usr/library/calendars, but when I log back in the calendars just re-appear. So where else is ical storing calendar information?

in a folder in usr/library/syncservices/local. You will have to look in the clientname.txt file in each of the folders to find which one is for iCal.

MAIL AND ICAL PROBLEM

Hi ,
I have a BBZ10 , and I have a problem in sending e.mail and with the syncronization of the calendar with iCal of my MAC.
My smtp is configurated with the details of my domain , and the configuration is ok.
ICal is also configurated by following the instruciont found on this site.
In fact, after setting the mail account and the calendar everyting works good.
But at an certain point I have had a problme that is the mail the I send seem to be sent but the recipient of the mail do not receive it, seme thing with iCal, the event that i create do not appear any more on my MAC.

ICal problem with events

iCal - since installing Lion, when I enter an event, it defaults to "all day" and the default end time is 8 hours later rather than 1.

Yes, it's a problem that many people have reported. The notes in the calendar do not wrap around; it's just one long line of text that goes off-screen. Also, any notes you have in "contacts" don't show up at all. I hope this is corrected in future software updates.

New Mac user/ minor iCal problem...

Hi, I am a new Mac user and experiencing the following problem with iCal:
when my Mac starts, the iCal icon in the dock, always displays a past date, July 18 always I think it is.
Is this a common thing or is there a way that I can change the iCal icon in the dock as to where it correctly displays the current date?

I'm sorry to say that date displays on everyone's Mac until iCal is running. Once iCal is running it displays the correct date.
If you want to jump right in I believe there is a "fix" of sorts published at macosxhints: http://www.macosxhints.com
Alternatively, you could simply set iCal to start at login, then a few moments after login the date will be correct.

Ical problem - authentication problem?

I dont seem to be able to get ical to work.
Problems I am getting are:
if I choose a wiki calendar (group or personal) - there is a message "Unable to access calendar, because the calendar server is not running"
If I try to create an account in iCal (using automatic option) - says "found caldav server mydomain but couldn't log in with the user john. Make sure user name and password are correct"

ICal problem scrolling through all-day events

Not quite sure how to describe this but making easy to understand.
I organise my daily events using iCal on my mac and sync them to my iphone running the latest iphone updated software. I place all my things to do as an all-day event and at present has 21 events in there.
The phone scrolls through events no problem when I don't have a lot of events in the all-day event part but when I try to look at for example todays events with 21 items at the all-day part at the top it won't let me scroll and only shows 14 events instead of the 21?
Any ideas?

This appeared to be a timezone issue, when daylight savings time came around the iPod and iCal dates synchronized correctly.
