ICal Publishing

I published an iCal from my Powerbook, backed up the file to my G4 moving the plist file and the iCal folder in application support. The G4 iCal no longer appears as a published iCal. What file in the library contains the iCal publishing info that I need to copy from my Powerbook to my G4 or do I need to unpublish the iCal on the Powerbook and then publish on the G4, assuming you can't publish the same iCal from two different sources?

Don't know about iCalX but you can do this without problem on .Mac..
Month view is limited by size but clicking on the day will show you that day and all events.

ICal publishes event before done editing

I have several calendars that publish to icalx.com. When I add a new event and start typing, ical publishes before I am done editing the event. Then I have to double-click or command-E to edit the event and finish it.
I have those calendars set to publish automatically, though if I can't solve this, I would change it back to manual to avoid the hassles...

Perhaps you've just updated your OS and now have the newer version of iCal which is ***** compared to the faster, more elegant older version. The older iCal presented every event's details in a ready to edit format just by clicking on the item in the calendar.
Now you have to double click that item you're interested in (one two) to get a window that shows you the item's details. Then, to edit, you must click the 'edit' button (three) upon which another editable window will allow your event details to be edited. Finally, after finishing your edits, you must click 'done' (four). Yes, that's right, 4 clicks to do what used to require only the initial click to specify which event you wanted to edit.
Four times as many clicks for a utility application that has no further improvements, only this annoying change from what was once a very efficient tool.
I do hope a future "update" will bring back the elegance of the older version with some true improvements.

Shared iCal publisher moving timezones!

hi, i have a shared ical that is currently published from a iBook running osx 10.3 and ical 1.5.5, in a london time-zone with all the events set to Europe/London, the problem is these events happen in New York at the time they are entered on this iBook (i.e. publisher enters event1 at 3.00pm 02/02/08 - event1 is happening at 3.00pm EST not GMT).
The problem is the publisher responsibilities are being passed on to someone living in New York (OSX 10.4), if i export the .ics from the iBook and import to the new machine i am expecting to see all my events move 8 hours out!
So.... does anyone know how it is possible to get around this, so i can export and import once o transfer the publisher responsibilities??
any help would be really appreciated!

If you move the bip reports it takes care of the data model part as well like moving a report from one catalog folder to other (BI Answers)

ICal Publish failed

After starting a new .Mac family pack membership. I changed my .Mac user/pass in System Prefs, and "unpublished" the calendars in iCal.
Now, when I go to Publish them I get
Publish failed for calendar 'Main'.
Request to the server failed.
Which seems like a connectivity problem but I can Sync perfectly with .Mac and also access my iDisk ok.
I have tried deleting a calendar and re-creating it. I also tried publishing a brand new calendar. Those gave the same errors, so I don't think the problem is in the calendar itself.
This is lame of course, because a main reason for my changing to the family pack was so my workgroup could all publish for group calendaring.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Apple helped me finally fix this problem. Go into System Prefs, .Mac.
Go to the iDisk tab, and change your Public Folder settings to Read and Write. (This is a temporary change)
Next try several things to test it. Try opening your iDisk from the Finder. Try writing to the iDisk inside a folder such as "Documents".
When I had this problem, the iDisk would not allow writing, and would fail with a disk space error.
You can also test Backup, or Calendar publish now. If everything is working, you can reset the Public Folder settings to Read Only.
What Apple explained to me via phone, is that there was a permissioning error when the new account was originally set up. Somehow, setting it to Read/Write fixes these permissions, and then you can work with all .Mac features as intended. If you still further probs, I recommend requesting to Apple support that they escalate your request to a more highly qualified engineer, and arrange a phone call. That was the deal for me, and he had it fixed in 2 minutes, after months of frustration.

ICal published on a server can only be subsuscribed, but not be viewed

Hi have built iCal into an iframe on my website. For testing I used MobileMe, which worked without problems. But now I would like to store the .ics on another website. I could upload the file through iCal, but if I visit the website, Safari downloads/subsuscribe the .ics. I cannot view the Calender inside the website. Hope you undestand my problem. Any ideas and suggestions.

What I´ve made first:
Build an Webside in Dreamweaver. Add an iframe there and an html snippet for my iCal Calender. Then I published my Calender through iCal and mobileme. After that, iCal gave me 2 adresses. One for subsuscribe:
webcal://ical.me.com/my.name/Calendername.ics.
And one for viewing in a browser http://ical.me.com/my.name/Calendername
I copied the secend one and paste it in my iframe. Thats worked great. On my webside I could see my iCal dates. This was by publishing on my mobileme account. If i publish on "another server" I only recieve the message/url for subsuscribe.
My english is not the best hope it is al ittle bit clearer. Thanks

Server not responding to ical publish request

This is probably a very simple problem but I can't work it out! We haven't had our server for very long and being a small agency we don't have a Sys Admin. We have had no problems with setting up the server, working from the server, sharing etc but can't get the ical service to work so that we can share appointments.
The server is set to share calendars with all users and with groups. On the individual computers when you go to publish the calendars on private server and put in the server name and login details the server refuses the connection request.
Under sys prefs in Sharing the server is visible and if you click 'edit' the info next to our server listing says "this server provides iCal services"
What are we doing wrong?

ICal Publishing - To Do Lists

When I publish my iCal calendar, I check the boxs to publish To Dos, Allarms, Auto Update Changes....when I go to the calendar site, not To Dos are published.
What is going on?

just found out, to do's only show up if you subscribe to the calender not if you view it via a browser. You can't publish to do's to a site. Only to another mac via subscribe. Hope this helps

ICal Publishing / Color Question

I recently figured out how to publish my 6 different calendars onto mobile me (by putting them into groups). So when I did this and published it, they all changed to 1 color instead of the 6 different colors that they are.
*Does anyone know if there is a way to make it so you can publish multiple calendars to one and still keep the colors?*

Unfortunately, the color for all calendars in a group will be blue on the published group calendar which is displayed on the web.
FWIW, I agree that the published version should be color coded, and recommend that you let Apple know about your needs through...Apple - iCal - Feedback.

Ical published but cannot edit

Hi. I have just upgraded to Tiger and want to publish all my calendars together so my husband can access them at work, adding information/appointments as he needs, to one document.Ihave two Probs. (1)- When I publish the calendars together in a group each one is legible in the calendar but they do not appear in their designated colors; all info on cal. comes in blue blocks.How can I get it to publish with corresponding colors? (2) Most importantly : I want my husband to be able to edit the calendar at his work place- I want to see his new updates and he mine- yet we are unable to edit the cal., either at our 'View' url or our'Subscribe' url. I am missing something here big time. I would love some help, as I am fit to be tied. Thanks alot, D

ICal Publish with Private Server Win server

I have iCal v3.0.5 and i have some events and i try to publish it using my Company Server (Win Server) and i enter the domain like this http://www.myservername.com and my username and password
and i try this one also, https://www.myservername.com but it doesn't work with me.
and my Windows IT said the WebDav is already enabled.

ICal published URL

I'm having problems with iCal's published URL. Sometimes it asks for my login 3-4 times. When it does work it won't let me go to the next month. It gives me Authorization Required.
Is there some kind of Java or plug-in I should update on my Windows XP computer so that I can see my published calendar without the grief?

ICal publishing to webDAV server sporadic

I had had trouble in April with publishing iCal calendars to my server at home. [1] Unfortunately, the problem has started up again, and I cannot figure out why. Does anyone have any idea why a site where calendars have been published in the past would suddenly give errors?
In the meantime, I'll go back and fix everything up again. Still, I'm baffled.

Here is the solution, in case others run into this problem:
I have my calendar location symlinked to another spot.
I had moved the locations, and had recreated the symlink as an admin.
I should have recreated the symlink using sudo.
So... if you have ical -> /foo/ical in /Library/WebServer/Documents, then be sure that the owner of the symlink is root:admin. The owner of /foo/ical should still be www:www.
Sorry for the static. Perhaps this might help someone in the future.

First attempt at iCal Publish and ... confused

I published an iCal calendar and time settings do not appear to match.
A regular, weekly event in iCal defined as 08:00 - 09:00 appears in the published form as 3pm or 4pm.
Is the event replicable or the event parameters replicable to others?
With solution?
As an edit: Also, chosen calendar colour code (Red) appears as blue on the published variant.
Should the published variant conform to my chosen colour schema?

Published calendar times: these seem partially solved by declaring Time Zone in iCal on events but, for some reason, of the three adjustments made one insists on remaining 8 hours out of sync with iCal (a repeated weekly event).
Does anyone think it is helpful to have Notes appear as part of a published calendar?
The reason I ask is because we have a weekly event due on Monday of the week that occurs unless the day is a public holiday in the UK. Adding a note along lines of Cancelled on 4 May 2009 (Bank Holiday) seems helpful.
2 - can one do a partial sync? If a calendar event is revised does one need to do a full Mobile Me refresh?

ICal Publishing on .Mac

I've created groups and published a calendar to my .Mac server. However the events in the calender don't show up on the web calender so the group members can only brows an empty calendar . What is wrong ?

When you say: I've created groups and published a calendar to my .Mac server.Do you mean .Mac?
If so, I would advise clicking on your Calendar in the source pane and then iCal>Calendar>Unpublish...
Then click on the Calendar in the source pane and use the iCal>Calendar>Publish.. once again. Do not use any special keyboard characters, nor more than one word names to identify the calendar.

Ical publishes 0KB file to private server

Hello. I am publishing one of my iCal calendars to a private server. It publishes, however there is no information in the file. It is a 0KB file. How can I encourage a successful publication?
