ICal Repeat Monthly y Question

So, I want to create a reoccurring event on the last weekday of the month. (It's when I get paid.) If I make this event on the 31st, it won't appear in months that don't have thirty-one days. Does anyone know of a work-a-round that would get an event to repeat on the last day of the month?

volleyhart,
iCal Help says:
You can set how often an event occurs on
your calendar, and when it stops occurring
1. Select the event and click the Info button in the
bottom-right corner of the iCal window.
In Day or Week view, you can also double-click the
bar along the top of the event (where the event's
start time appears).
2. Choose how often you want the event to occur from
the "repeat" pop-up menu.
To make more specific recurrence choices (for
example, to have the event appear only every third
week of the month), choose Custom from the "repeat"
pop-up menu and make your choices in the window that
appears.
3. Choose whether you want the event to stop
appearing after a number of times or after a specific
date from the "end" pop-up menu.
You can also quickly change when the event stops
occurring by pressing the Control key and clicking
the event, and then choosing "Stop Recurrence" from
the shortcut menu.

Hi, thanks for your response. I don't have a repeat occurrence pop-up menu when inserting new tasks, which makes it all the more confusing - I have that menu when inserting new calendar events, but not tasks. Thoughts?

  • ICal Mini-Month View question

    A quick question.
Using iCal on Leopard...I noticed the mini-month view doesn't show any marks on it for days that have events. I seem to remember a little dot on the days, in Tiger. Or am I just spoilt looking at the month view on the iPhone, or iPod Touch?
Is there anyway of having it have little dots or halos or anything to indicate when I have an event on a certain day in the mini-month view?

Last thing about iCal which I think could be fixed, is that it would be easier to type down events and making line-breaks if one whouldn't have to hold 'Alt' in while doing it.  I make line-breaks much more often than I finish editing an event (in which case you just press enter or click outside the event you were editing).  It would be better to press 'alt' + 'enter' in order to finish editing an event, and reserve the action of just pressing 'enter' for line-breaks.  This, btw, was also this way in iCal 4.
Ok, last last thing: in the preferences of iCal one can add a default alert to all new timed events and invitations and one can specify how many minutes before one wants to be alerted.  I do not want to add a default alert to all new events/appointments, but I would like to be able to specify the default number of minutes put on all new alerts that I put on events.  It seems quite intuitive to me that the default number of minutes one can specify for every alarm added to events by defult (if that option is checked in the preferences), should be the defult number of minutes set to alarms one manually puts on events, in stead of the '15 minutes before' default that is in the system and which seems to be unchangable.
If it says '0 minutes before the start time' there, then all alerts that I manually put on events should have this value put to zero by default!

  • How to make tasks in iCal repeat?

This might be a stupid question, but I'm trying to make tasks in iCal repeat on a regular basis. For instance, instead of having to set a task to repeat every Monday at 10am, I just want to set a task for Monday at 10am and then have it repeat every Monday at 10am. Am I missing this setting somewhere?

  • Can you change the DEFAULT VIEW of a published iCal to MONTH VIEW?

Can you change the DEFAULT VIEW of a published iCal to MONTH VIEW? I use this for a vacation rental and people never ever ever ever need to see anything but the MONTH VIEW. I hate having to tell them to click MONTH view at the top of the page. Is there a way to force it to always appear in MONTH? Thanks!

    ddotcom,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Unfortunately no, but if they are repeat viewers why not tell them to change their view to "Monthly" using the "Preferences" button on that page?

  • Is there a way to flag events on the Calendar differently?  I want to put bills in my Calendar on the days they are usually due (repeating monthly).  I want to flag them somehow when they have been paid.

Is there a way to flag events on the Calendar.  I want to put bills to be paid (and have them repeat monthly) on my Calendar.  I would like to be able to flag them after they are paid.  I tried to put them in using the "Home calendar" blue, and them change them to purple (Work Calendar) after I had paid them.  The problem is that once I changed a bill from blue to purple it changed all upcoming bills for future months to purple also.

You might want to try Reminders.
Creat a Bill Pay list, add all your bills set a reminder to repeat every month and when you pay one just check them off as complete

  • Want to custom repeat monthly on any day but related to a specific day, e.g. 'repeat monthly on the Thursday following the first Sunday'.

    I am using Calendar Version 7.0 (1841.1).  OSX 10.9.3
I know you can easily do, say, 'repeat monthly on the first Thursday of the month'.
What I want to do is create a monthly pattern of events in weekly chunks, related to the Sundays in the week.
(yes, that means you get the occasional 5th week free! Hurray!)
I saw something on another thread (for a different issue) about dragging the event to the desktop, opening in text edit and altering the code - happy to do that (well relatively!) if there is an expression that would get the right result - thinking of something along the lines of  - monthly, frequency 1, by day, Sunday1 +4.  Possible?!

In the second para it should read 'Sundays in the month' - not week  ;-)

  • How can I Print the next 4 or 5 weeks from iCal in month view (not simply complete months)

How can I Print the next 4 or 5 weeks from iCal in month view (not simply complete months).
I'd like to print the next (up an coming) weeks of my calendar from iCal in month view - The idea is to get this information on 1 sheet of A4.. just like the month view.. but as far as i can see the month view only gives you current or next complete months.. The ONLY time this give me the view I want is in the first week of any given month.. the rest of the month part of the print is in the past and not enough of the up and coming weeks are shown?
I can believe  the app won't allow you to do this .. am I missing an easy fix.. or has it been rectified in Yosemite .. I'm using mavericks 10.9.5.
    Thanks

    Hope this helps.

  • ICal's month view events are spilling out and overlapping making unreadable

iCal's month view events are spilling out of their day boxes and overlapping the events below them making it impossible to look at the month view and discern one's schedule.
What's really odd is it only seems really a problem with the current month. January 2009.
What can I do to remedy this situation?

Okay, I figured out a simple remedy that was probably always intended by Apple. I had been pasting long text paragraphs from emails into the 'Subject' Header. When I paste the long paragraph of information in the "NOTES" area at the bottom of the dialogue box and just put a brief subject line in the header area this fixes the problem.
This might seem like common sense, but Palm Desktop did not require this. I figured this out by trying Entourage. Entourage synching with the iPhone however works through iCal and deleted all my color coded Calendars that I had not backed up. In Palm Desktop I had 15 categories each with a color code.
Now, when I put an address into the "Location" window why can't I tap that on the iPhone Calendar and have the GPS/Googlemap display this location on a map?

If you want to have the photos stored on an external HD, you probably should move them there in your operating system before you import into Lightroom.
But, if you don't yet own an external HD, you can import from the internal hard drive and later move the photos to wherever you want them to be, as long as you do it properly.

Read the small print on your power brick. It handles 110 - 240 volts automatically. All you need is a plug adapter to make your current wall plug fit the European wall sockets.

  • Why are ical appointments repeated monthly when not requested?

The iCal application on one of my machines has begun posting appointments to the months prior to and following the date for which the appointment has been entered. In addition, if I tab backward from April nothing happens. Tabbing backward again takes me to February, from which I can tab forward to March.

Hi, not sure, but it sounds like maybe one of these files is dinged...
    /Users/YourUserMame/Library/Calendars/[BigLongNumber].calendar/Info.plist
Then again with the tabbing thing, there may be deeper problems.
Have you tried deleting that entry & making a new one?

  • Publishing iCal With MONTH view being the default view

    Hi
I'm using iWeb to publish a page, then editing the HTML code to include a non-scrolling frame that is my iCal calendar on it. It works ok EXCEPT that it defaults to a Week View on the web page, and that looks lame because for our purposes it should really default to a MONTH view.
Does anyone know how to make this happen????
    I'm stumped!!!
Unfortunately, I reached my bandwidth limit for this period (first time it's ever happened!) so I can't "show" you the page I'm talking about -- it's shut down until 3/16/07. Sure hope an iCal expert knows how to do this... ???
    Thank you!!!

After not receiving any replies for a couple days, I took a chance and emailed James Tseng (someone who I saw has been very active and helpful on the boards in the past) directly at [jwtseng at rocketmail dot com] ...and he totally answered this question, and also said "Feel free to post the resolution to your issue on the forums so that others might benefit. You are also
free to refer anyone else to contact me directly." So here it is -->
Thank you for your email. You are always most welcome
to contact me directly since my participation in the
forums is not welcome anymore. I think I see what you
    are talking about.
I published a calendar to use as an example... The
default URL that iCal gives is here...
    http://ical.mac.com/jwtseng/Home
And just as you mentioned, this resolves to a weekly
view by default at this URL...
    http://ical.mac.com/WebObjects/iCal.woa/wa/default?u=jwtseng&n=Home.ics
But if you click on the "Month" tab to switch views,
    the URL becomes this...
    http://ical.mac.com/WebObjects/iCal.woa/wa/default?d=1&u=jwtseng&v=1&y=2007&m=2& n=Home.ics
So that's the secret, then. To get your calendar to
display with the month-view by default, just use this
fully-resolved URL as the src URL in your iframe
function instead of the short URL. That should work
    perfectly for you.
Let me know how it goes...
    James

    Thank you James!!!

Would like to repeat events monthly on calendar,  but not by date.  Would like to repeat on 1st Monday of each month, 2nd Wednesday of each month, etc.  Possible?

  • ICal - Week/Month View Changes

    Hi there,
I recently moved my (small) company from a very ancient version of Now Up To Date (with server) to iCal with iCal server. Most of the people working here are pretty unsavvy tech wise and they don't like it one bit! The main issue seems to stem from the week view in iCal.
Basically, what the users here preferred from NUTD was a landscape week view with the event written line by line not blocked out. The problem wit the block style view iCal does by default is if there's more than one event at one time it is very tricky to see.
The month view is the style they want but there isn;t enough room per day. I can't seem to find anyway to make this view possible. Is there a way or an ical extension i can install?
    Thanks
    Ben
