ICal sending a lot of duplicate invites

I use iCal with a Google account. Recently when I updated an existing calendar event (that includes invitees), all the invitees received what appears to be the same updated invite email over 40 times. Has anyone else encountered this? Is there a fix?

You can try sorting by "Date Added" to see if a bunch got added one day by mistake. That would clump them all together to make them easier to find.
itunes menu > View > View Options
Check the Date Added box, if it's not already

Is there a way to make Ical send notifications to Invitees on a certain day?

I am president of My 4-H Club and I need a way to keep 200 members informed about all of the upcomming events. At the beginning of the year, I add all of the events for the year in ical, and invite the group to each event. The problem is that ical sends out the reminder email inviting the members to the event the day that I Create the Event (Which sometimes is 6 months before the event). Is there a way to scedule the ical event reminder? If I create the event today, I do not want the members to receive the invite until one or two days before the event.

To make I-cal open automatically when you log in or start up:
Drag the application icon into the dock. Hold down the cursor on the icon and you will get a little menu. Choose Open at Login.

I need to delete a lot of duplicates on iPhoto. I just bought my MacBook Pro and was so excited I downloaded my external hard drive without thinking through the process. I now realize I had my photos doubled up. So I actually have the same library twice.

I am so excited about my new computer and I didn't know that my external hard drive had so many pictures duplicated on it. So I downloaded the entire hard drive. I thought iPhoto was going to be my answer, and now after reading a lot of discussions, it seems I have royally screwed up. Please help me fix this problem. I am a computer novice. An even more Mac novice. I need very simple directions. I would just start over with iPhoto, but I downloaded my digital camera with brand new photos on iPhoto and also downloaded my digital camera software on my new MacBookPro. I am afraid if I "start over" with iPhoto I will lose my digital camera pictures. I bought the Mac to finally get my pictures straight, and look at the mess I have made. I had AVG PC cleanup and used that program last night to delete duplicates from my PC. I also used it to delete duplicates from my external hard drive. I omega. I know, I know, too late huh? But I am teachable. And I now have my external hard drive fixed. But now, my question to the community is how to fix my new Mac, and my iPhoto.

Ok, you've got iPhoto Library that you have imported everything into, you can't delete the iPhoto Library and start over because you have only one copy of some pictures in there, combined with a lot of duplicates.
You want all the duplicates out, but it will take you ages to do it by hand.
What you do is.
1: Right click on the iPhoto Library and "Show Package Contents"
2: You will see a folder called Originals, these are all your original photo's, copy this folder to a external drive someplace, it's your backup.
3: Select the Originals folder again and from the Finder Menu > File > Duplicate.
4: Now you will have a OriginalsCopy folder, move that OriginalsCopy folder onto the desktop area out of the iPhoto Library folder. Close the iPhoto Library folder/window.
5: Download the Decloner software and install it, use it to find all the "real" duplicates, via it's content on the OriginalsCopy folder.
6: From the Finder menu > New Folder, now send the duplicate files to that folder, so all that is left in the OriginalsCopy folder is 1 copy of your pictures, minus all the duplicates which are now in New Folder.
7: Open iPhoto and remove all your pictures in there. The iPhoto Library will update to become empty.
8: Now import the pictures from the OriginalsCopy folder, these will now have only one copy of each picture.
9: Open your New Folder, from the Edit menu > Select All and
10 From the Finder > File Menu > Open With > Preview.
Now you have one copy in your iPhoto Library and the duplicates in a New Folder opened with Preview which you can compare to make sure.
Make as many backups of your pictures as you think you need during this prcess, but eventually you only want 1 picture of all you have in the iPhoto Library.
Some pictures may be the same thing but a little smaller etc., these obviously are not duplicates, and you can weed those out by hand in iPhoto.

Lots of Duplicates in Itunes library

I recently bought a Seagate external drive to back up my music, among other things, to using SyncToy. When finished I went to look at the results and found that SyncToy had not backed up all my music and those backed up had a lot of duplicates. Not so concerned about SyncToy here but if anyone knows why it didn't back up everything I would appreciate the help.
The problem is the duplicates in the library.. Some CDs had none. Some had incomplete song titles with a correct title included. Some had duplicates of every title with a (2) at the end. Some were duplicated with no indication of any differences. I did check the file size often enough (by hovering over the title) to generalize they were the same size. Sometimes there are 3 files, two duplicates and one with a (2) at the end.
My library is "organized" in the Music under Itunes Media, I use Itunes 10.7 and do NOT want to "upgrade" to Itunes 11.
Any ideas where they came from? And if I can somehow get rid of them, will they come back? I recently subscribed to Itunes Match to rid my old purchases of copy protection, it worked but those matched songs have no more or less duplicates than those ripped from CDs. I have been using Itunes since about 2003, so the libraries have gone through many upgrades.

Apple's official advice on duplicates is here... HT2905: How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls such as lost ratings and playlist membership.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created. If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin.
Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background, this post for detailed instructions, and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.
(If you don't see the menu bar press ALT to show it temporarily or CTRL+B to keep it displayed.)
The most recent version of the script can tidy dead links as long as there is at least one live duplicate to merge stats and playlist membership to and should cope sensibly when the same file has been added via multiple paths.

Issue with sending a lot of messages together to XI

Hello Experts,
I see a strange problem when I try to post a lot of messages together to the XI Server about half of them error out.
I see these errors for eg. when I put about 50 files for a sender File Adapter, Send a lot of IDocs from R/3, Send a lot of messages in a loop from the Client Proxy etc...

When I try to reprocess the Error Messages again I see the same behavior about half of them go through and half of them error out with same error. I keep resending the messages and once the total error messages are less than 10 they are processed successfully.
This is happening in our QXI box but there is no such problem in the DXI box.
Not sure what is causing this problem.
Any pointers will be greatly appreciated.

I think this problem is because of limitation on the maxmum number of connetion to the javastack. When you boombard XI with large number of messages at same time its not , bcoz of limitation on number of connection its just processing few where connection is available and remaining are failing with some error messages.
Even we had same problem few dats bacl....and everytime it used to give us different error messages eventhough all required parameters where maintained in Exchange profile.

It happened while our EIS were saving a computer breakdown, but now i would like to know how to selectively delete the duplicates, without doing it individually. That is, can I set up iPhoto to automatically search for and delete duplicate photographs in the library?

Can we disable the 'Do not send a response' option for invitations?

Our organization recently migrated to Outlook \Exchange 2010 from Lotus Notes\Domino R7.0.4. Users are getting frustrated with the many limitations, or hopefully our lack of understanding, related to calendaring in Outlook.
Current Issue:
Employees can select "Do Not Send a Response" to meeting invitations, but still accept the invitations for their personal calendars. This can be very frustrating to the invitee, who is attempting to orchestrate complex meetings, since they do not
get updates for invitees who have accepted the meeting using this option.
It is plausible that all invitees could accept a meeting, but choose not to send a response. The originator of the meeting may than cancel the meeting, thinking, "what's the point, no one accepted it". The originator or an Admin staff should have
the ability to disable the "Do not Send a Response" option or at least have the option to require a response if desired.
Additionally, when invitees do send a response, it would be nice to have an option not to see response in the form of an email, but simply as an update to the Calendar 'Attendees' status, to avoid inbox clutter.
Lotus Notes had these functions at least 10 years ago, so I'm sure we are just overlooking a setting or configuration. Any guidance Microsoft support or readers can provide would be greatly appreciated.

After adding the Office 2010 GPO templates to the domain, in Group Policy Management go to:
User Configuration / Polices / Administrative Templates / Microsoft Outlook 2010 / Disable Items in User Interface / Custom
Add the following Policy ID's: 19987, 19995 and 19991.
This will disable the three menu items "Do Not Send a Response" below the buttons Accept, Tentative and Decline. When the mouse pointer points to the disabled ("grayed out") menu item a message is shown telling the user that this menu is disabled by the
administrator.
If you are not used to the email response, simply create a rule to move all these responses to a single folder and clean them up periodically:

How can i get rid of a lot of duplicate songs?

Hi,
after the transfer of an itunes librairy on my new imac, my teenaged boy have done the same with his own itunes librairy, but there are a lot of duplicate (more than a thousand). I want to sent them to the trash, but manually it's a tiring and boring job, automator doesn't have this kind of command, and i'm not educated in using applescript.
I need HELP for this purpose;

Well, this is probably not free but the utility called "Spring cleaning" has a module which automatically deletes duplicate files ... assuming they have the same name ?

1) You're not talking to Apple here, just other Mac users like you.
2) Hardware becoming dated is standard with computers. Apple stops hardware support after about 4-5 years. iDevices seem to age a bit more rapidly than computers.
3) You don't always have to follow the pack. I use a 10 year old computer with an OS that is 7 years old. I find that while I cannot run the newest versions of things, what I can run lets me do 99% of what I really want to do.
4) It isn't Apple supplying many of the apps. Yes, Apple sells them but it is Facebook or Twitter designing them.

Why have iCal entries suddenly appeared in duplicate for every month?

My iPhones and iPad are synced with my iMac via iCloud. All devices work perfectly except iCal on my iMac shows all entries in duplicate.
Adding a new entry shows up as a duplicate in the iMac but as a single entry on all other devices (which is correct)

You cannot use iCloud with Leopard 10.5.8. The minimum requirement is Lion 10.7.2. If you have been syncing your contacts with iCloud you can only have been doing it by some sort of unsupported hack, and if it doesn't work it's unlikely to be possible to find an explanation. If you have been using other (compliant) devices by trying to sync using both iTunes and iCloud you are likely to get duplicates.
A computer old enough running Leopard may well not be upgradeable to Lion or Mountain Lion, but if you can do so this is the only way you are going to be able to make proper use of iCloud.
The requirements for Lion are:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
2GB of memory
OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
7GB of available space
To purchase it you will have to ring Apple at the number given at the bottom left of this page.

Lot of duplicates some with "waiting" and others are "purchased"

I've got a lot of duplicates in my iTunes library and was wanting to know if I can go ahead and delete the "waiting" version vs the "purchased" version. What would cause this in the first place?
