Ical server responds with an error

I have a MacBook Pro and I have an Ical error "server responds with an error" and cannot make it stop popping up

Sorry, no help there. Ical does not stay open long enough to do anything with. All it does is crash and apologise and say it will notify Apple.
Guess I will just delete it altogether and use google calendar.

  • Mac 10.6.8 ical "server responded with an error" endless loop

I get an endless loop. "The Server Responded with an Error "--click OK. Next window "The Server Respnded with an Error"--whether click "go offline" or "return to server" takes me back to first window, ad infinitum. Can't change anything on calendar; cannot access ical Preferences. basically cannot do anything except Force Quit, whether logged into my account or my wife's [registered to my wife's yahoo! email].
Also cannot synch calendars now between imac, iphone, and ipad like we could in beginning. Using 10.6.8 because some of my peripherals not compatible with later.
This problem just started a couple of days ago [the server problem freezing the calendar, it hasn't been working properly for awhile and the calendar synch was lost when a friend upgraded the iphone software.]
What can I do to restore 1] the functionality of the ical? and 2] synching the imac, ipad, and iphone icals?

I read another response to a similar question posted a couple of years ago. I turned off the Wifi, restarted iCal offline, and that eliminated the message. However, as soon as I turned on the Wifi the message again appeared, the app froze requiring a Force Quit, and the game is still afoot. NO SOLUTIONS ANYONE?

This information, which I highlighted in red, shows up on a separate page from and above the calendar page, and is half the width of the standard page; and repeats all the three times on the page. I cannot close ical without force quitting. I cannot access ical preferences as suggested in another answer to a similar problem, because the "separate page" remains dominant. I tried ridding the computer of the calendar plist, that did not work. I cannot discard ical because the computer will not allow me to trash. I am really befuddled.
Fortunately, it only affects ical on my MacBook Pro running 10.9.2- it has not affected my iPad or iPhone, both running ios 7.2... they seem to be syncing with iCloud correctly. Anyone had this animal in their zoo lately?

Repeated attempts to upgrade to the new MobileMe Calendar received the same error as Richard_B.:
"The calendar https://cal.me.com/principals/users/[my ID]/ was not found on the server. Make sure the URL is correct."
Software is up-to-date on 27" Intel iMac (10.6.5) and all iOS devices (4x). Deleted my MobileMe calendar account from appropriate iCal prefs pane and now no longer receive above error. Calendar changes to iCal, MobileMe Calendar, and iOS device calendars still push to populate other calendar instances.
Still, I desire the new MobileMe calendar primarily for its compatibility with BusyMac's BusyToDo mobile app, which allows to-do list viewing and editing on iOS devices. Working with a very simple calendaring system "On My Mac": distinct "Home" and "Work" calendars, as well as a third one. "Subscribed" to a Birthday calendar, and that's it. No calendar categories involved.
MobileMe syncing (iDisk and iCal particularly) has been very spotty over many years. BusyCal or some other alternative for calendaring beckons, as does DropBox. Always resisted third-party solutions for syncing, but feel myself caving.

  • ICal issue - "The server responded with an error"

Hi All. I've been having this error pop up on my iCal for the last week after the last iOS update and it's driving me a little batty.
I don't have any shared calendars, appointments loaded in. I'm just running the iCal calendar frm icloud between my Air and my iPhone.
    Error that pops up reads:
The server responded with an error.
The URL ***icloud***/principal/ encountered HTTP error 404. Make sure the URL is correct.
I haven't changed anything in settings. The appointments are still syncing between my computer and phone however, this pop up comes up every 5-30 seconds on my computer if iCal is open.
Ideas on how to fix it?

Is this the pop-up you get?
The request for account “[email protected]” failed.
    The server responded with
    “HTTP/1.1 502 Bad Gateway”
    to operation CalDAVAccountRefreshQueueableOperation.
I've never seen it before but am getting it this evening (UK time). Also if I try to log in to MMe Calendar it's not logging in but going to 'find my iPhone' like it did when Mail was mucking about a few weeks back.

  • ICal - recurring "server responded with an error" message

After years of using iCal without problems, (except for some recent duplicate alarms), a recurring error message has suddenly started popping up. It says:
"The server responded with an error.
Access to account "***@me.com" is not permitted.
    The server responded:
    "HTTP/1.1 403 Forbidden"
    to operation CalDAVAccountRefreshQueueableOperation."
I use MobileMe to sync calendars with an iMac, iPhone, iPad and recently added a MacBookPro. I haven't changed anything other than adding the Macbook. MobileMe seems to be syncing just fine. iCal is operating normally, all of the calendars and info are there. I checked iCal > preferences > accounts and the MobileMe account information and password is entered correctly, ...but the error message is constantly popping up. Can someone help me resolve this?
    Thx.

Are you using MobileMe Calendar Beta?
First make an iCal backup, File > Export > Archive.
Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
    Home > Library > Caches
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
__NOTE: Removing these files will remove any shared (CalDAV) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.
Once the computer is back up and running open iCal and test.
    Hope that helps.

  • ICal: The server responded with an error. The event ... was rejected by iCloud because it already exists

I exported my ical to send to a friend, then opened it to make sure that it would work to find out that it duplicated all my events, this how now left me with an infinite error message of "The server responded with an error. ... event already exists".
Please help! It took me amny hours to organise my school calender and deleteing it is not an option.

Yes where is the easy fix? I imported a calendar from my kids school district and whenever I enter a new event the error message for all events pops up.....The solution suggested by one is extremely cumbersome so I did not even try it....

  • Ical freezes with "the server responded with an error"

Every time I open my calendar I receive "the server responded with an error."  The content of an old email is also showing under the message "the server responded with an error."    I am unable to access my calendar.

Back up all data. If you have iCloud calendars, archive them by following the instructions on this page under the heading "Downloading a calendar from iCloud.com." All you need is a web browser, not the Calendar application. Do the same with any other network calendars you have, if possible.
Before taking each of these steps, quit (force quit if necessary) the application. After taking the step, relaunch and test. When the problem is resolved (or when you complete Step 3 without resolving it), stop and close the Library folder.
    Step 1
Hold down the option key and select
              Go ▹ Library
from the Finder menu bar. From the folder that opens, move these items (some may not exist) to the Trash, leaving the Library folder open:
              Calendars/Calendar Cache
              Calendars/Calendar Cache-shm
              Calendars/Calendar Cache-wal
    Step 2
Move these files from the Library folder to the Desktop (again, some may not exist):
Containers/com.apple.CalendarAgent (and any others with a name beginning in "com.apple.Calendar")
Containers/com.apple.iCal (and any others with a name beginning in "com.apple.iCal")
              Preferences/com.apple.CalendarAgent.plist
              Preferences/com.apple.iCal.plist
If the problem is resolved, you may be able to put back some of the items you moved in this step, relaunching and testing after each one. Eventually you may find the one that caused the problem; delete it. Recreate your settings as necessary.
If the problem still isn't solved, put back each of the items you moved in this step, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. You don't have to put back the files you moved in Step 1.
    Step 3
Move this folder to the Desktop:
              Calendars
Note: you're not moving the Calendars application; you're moving a folder named "Calendars". If there's no change, put the folder back where it was.
If the problem is resolved after you move the Calendars folder, the event database is corrupt. You have these choices:
Restore the folder from a Time Machine snapshot or other backup that predates the corruption.
Use a third-party application such as Calendar Cleaner to try to repair the database.
For network calendar accounts, such as iCloud, all you should need to do is re-enter them in the preferences. For subscribed calendars, you only need to re-subscribe.

  • Entering description of event into iCal, pasted too much text into event, responded with The server responded with an error. Preferences is greyed out, and window pop up comes up every time I open iCal and doesn't go away. Force quit, still opens. Help?

While pasting event description into iCal, accidently pasted too much text, causing "The server responded with an error" pop up. This pop us includes the event description, but because of the mass amount of text, the window shoots off the screen to the bottom, so if there was an exit red "x" available, it isn't visible or accessible. The iCal>preferences is greyed out and I have force quit and it pops up each time I use iCal. Is this even fixable?

I can see that this issue has been quite extensive, and frustrating, and I am so sorry for all that has happened societygirl! I would like to help you work this issue out. Please follow & send me a Direct Message, so I can get your account specifics and help finally bring this to a resolution.

I can't quit iCal on my imac. I keep getting  "the server responded with an error" and I  need to change my password but I can't even quit it to do it.

Can you do a Force Quit?  Right click on it in the dock, then press the option/alt key, and Force Quit should come up in the sub menu.

I am tired of how Yahoo has gotten worse and worse. It is the ONLY account I get problems with DAILY (even after removing and re-adding). AOL will act up once in a while not taking a saved password but accepting it when OK is clicked.... But Yahoo is always responding with such errors.... Today's calendar error is:
