ICal Server sends invitations via external email but no RSVP

I have set up a fresh install of Mavericks Server (10.9.3) running DNS and OD Services and now enabled iCal Server.
I setup invitation of external users via an external email address and invitations get sent and delivered via email just fine so I guess plus-addressing must be supported by the mailserver.
However the invitations do not show the RSVP requests and do not automatically get picked up by Calendar.app.
The server sits behind a NAT router and runs its own Split-DNS setup for the same local domain myserver.xyz.com that the router also redirects to the internal IP address of the server for external access to the iCal Server (so, FQDN is working for the server). The email account used for invitations is hosted on an external mailserver that runs on the same domain (mail.xyz.com).
Did I miss anything in my setup?

Okay, got this figured out. Appears that the email server my client's company uses is terminating the connection when the Xserve tries to do anything. I setup a test Gmail account and used those settings instead and everything worked just fine.

Hi Pravat,
You can do this with SALRT_CREATE_API. But you have to create a alert category. go to ALRTCATDEF with a user role " SAP_XI_ADMINISTRATOR".
Then create category and give your receivers.
Then write a program like rsalrtdemo1 . This shows you how an alert can be called directly by a function module.

My messaging app on my OS X Mavericks is disconnected from my iPhone number. It now sends messages via my email. How do I switch it back?

I had to reset my password through my phone in order to download an app since I forgot my password. But now when I go to message other iPhones through the messaging app on my MacBook Pro, it sends them via my email. I thought I reconencted my account and phone and computer when I logged into my computer and it prompted me to. What's happening? How do I change it back to sending messages with my phone number?

In Messages > Preferences > Accounts and th iMessages account (on the Mac) you should see the options for Receive At.
IS the iPhone Number one of these ?
Is it ticked to be Enabled ?
You can also set Send From at the drop down at the bottom (when you have twor choices or more in the Receive At list).
IF the iPhone Number is missing check the iPhone > Settings > Messages.
Does this list the Apple ID ?
Is it an Enabled option to Send and Receive messages ?
If it is not there or not enabled (or Enabling it does not achieve anything) then Remove the Apple ID.
Place the iPhone in Airplane mode for a few minutes (Break with all the servers)
On returning to the Messages Settings check the iPhone number appears to be Enabled (it will be greyed out as a choice you can change)
Add back the Apple ID.
Restart the mac Version.
Accept the pop ups that tell you the iPhone is using it's Number and the Apple ID

If your rescue email is not working and you cannot remember even one answer, then you only have one option - call Apple.

Not able to send workitem to external email id or Lotus notes.

Hi,
I am using standard program RSWUWFML2 to send workitem to external email id like lotus notes. When I execute this program i get the message "Work item xxxxxxxx sent to xxxxxxxxxxx".
As per the documentation of the program, program should process the workitem and send the same to external mail id. Please let me know if i miss something.

Ical server invitations to external email adresses are sent from "user"@localhost.localdomain

Hello,
I have quite a bad time getting the ical server in OSX 10.7 server to work correctly.
If I invite a co-worker who also has an account on the server, everything seems to be fine.
When I invite someone with an external email address, an email is sent to the given address, but the sender address is not my Adress but "MyName" @localhost.localdomain.
Besides the fact, that this looks quite strange for a corporate company to send emails like this, some receipients who use outlook cannot accept these invitations.
Unfortunately I cannot find any settings where I could change this behaviour.
The ical server is configured to connect to an external email service with its own email address.
Can anybody help?

If only a single user has this issue, try to move the mailbox to another database and check the result.

Ical cannot send invites anymore. "?" appears before email address

I can no longer send invitation to calendar events from Ical. a "?" mark appears before the email address. Have gone into preference and have no idea what might hace affected this. Any help appreciated.

I have the exact same problem with a caveat - I shouldn't be using one company's mail server to send invitations related to another company! A corporate resources no-no.
It would be nice if each calendar could be associated with an email account.

When iCal invokes Mail to send the invitation Mail uses the preference for 'Send new mail from' which in my case is the 'Account of last viewed mail'. So I can work around the problem by going to Mail, selecting the account that I want iCal to use and then sending the invitation.

Sending Report as HTML via external email.

I have a report on Apex 4.0.2 and was wondering if it is possible to get the report values as HTML so that I can send them using an email function I have in separate packages?
I just send the username, recipients and the HTML to this function and it generates the email along with the ones I generate from all other screens.

Just to clarify, I have a process that is called on submit.
At the moment it emails fine with data from the apex page, but is there way to include a html version of the page without creating it myself?
the function is called like this:

and I want to pass the data as html to pHTMLMsg.

Mechanism for supporting invites to external email addresses

I'm not quite sure whether this should be handled by the client or the server, but it's basically a show-stopper. Once a calendar account is bought-into the CalDav server, there's no way, anymore, to specify an external email address to be invited to an event.
This might be handled on the client, as a fall-back to the default functionality. More robustly, the server might send out an invite (a la the current invites sent by iCal) and accept responses, which it would then relay back to the original inviter.
I understand that this is not part of the CalDav spec, but it's practically necessary in order to make use of the Calendar Server/iCal solution on a day-to-day basis. In fact, this one bug (and not many of the other rather annoying issues currently present in the Apple Groupware solution) is preventing us from adopting it.
My entire company (Engine Yard) is a big fan of Apple. We all (60 of us) have Apple laptops, iPhones, and the works. Many of our employees cringe at the idea of having to switch to Exchange/Entourage, because they (rightfully) have been sucked in by the relatively good UI design that is typically the hallmark of Apple products.
Unfortunately, this endeavor with the server has somewhat tarnished the general sense that Apple puts substantial thought into its products. Long story short: please help me find a workaround for this issue

If Apple is using this system "internally", you can bet for sure that their version works just fine!
I pray they are going to fix this horrific oversight in 10.5.3, or its really going to start "upsetting" a lot of people!

Outlook and mail services/ can't send mail to external emails

I have been setting up os x server as a mail server for my company. I bound open directory to active directory but could not manage mail for the active directory users that way, so I started creating new users through open directory.
I've hit a couple snags that I can't quite figure out. First, I can send and receive mail to other open directory accounts fine, but not externally. I've set up my MX records and a name records for my Internet domain.
I can receive emails from an external email address, I.e. Gmail, but cannot send to them. It gets stuck in the mail server's queue. Information logs says operation timed out for smtp.gmail.com and their ip address.
I forwarded the ports, 25, 993, etc from my dsl router to my firewall router, then from there to my mail servers static ip address. I'm at a loss. If it matters, I'm on a residential dsl currently, my ISP claims to block port 25, but in the log it looks like it goes through and sees gmails ip.
Secondly, this is all through the mail.app for my MBP. When I set up outlook 2003 on xp, I can send emails, but it doesn't download any. No errors in either the information log or outlook, outlook says it completed successfully. If it matters, I was getting an error from outlook previously, helo error for not a fqdn, but I deleted a line in the main.cf that required fqdns.
I appreciate any help.

***EDIT*** I have outlook working....now it is just the external email thing. Again...my ISP says they block port 25, but I went into /etc/postmail/master.cf and added to have SMTP go on port 2525 and still no go. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

ICal not sending invites

Hey,
Is there anybody experienced tha problem when trying to send invite (meeting request) via iCal it sais:
iCal could not send the invitation.
To send invitations, create a card in Address Book.
I've created Address Book card for that person but it didn't solve my problem.
Any thoughts?

Solution: just add yourself in Address Book and click "Card" -> "Make This My Card" for iCal to know whom to put in "From" field.
