ICal shows birthdays late

iCal shows events and birthdays up to two weeks late.
I've tried the following, with no joy:
deleted and redone the contact in Address Book
Restarted iCal
Restarted Mac
Repaired Permissions
Any ideas?

Thx for your quick response.

  • ICal shows birthdays in all my calendars

I laboriously created a birthday field in my address book and a birthday subscription calendar. I have several calendars, personal, business, etc. All the birthday reminders appeared on ALL my calendars. How do I restrict this to just my personal calendar?
    Thank you.
    <Email Edited By Host>

    Greetings Miriam,
    Questions:
If you turn the Birthday calendar subscription off in iCal > Preferences > General, do all the birthdays disappear or just the ones in the Birthday calendar?
Did this behavior happen when you first started using the Birthday field in Address Book or did it happen later on during use (what you describe is not a normal occurrence for iCal so this suggests something caused it)?
Do you maintain regular backups such as with Time Machine and do you have a backup of your information from before the issue occurred ?
Do you use a server based calendar like iCloud / Google / Yahoo / MobileMe?
General troubleshooting while you answer those questions:
    1. First make an iCal backup:  Click on each calendar on the left hand side of iCal one at a time highlighting it's name and then going to File Export > Export and saving the resulting calendar file to a logical location for safekeeping.
    2. Go to iCal > Quit iCal
    3. Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
    Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.ical
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache if present)
--- NOTE: To get to "Home > Library" in Lion: Click anywhere on the desktop and then click on the "Go" menu at the top of the computer screen while holding down the "option" key on the keyboard.  You will see "Library" in the menu.
    4. Launch iCal and test.
    If the issue persists:
    1. Go to iCal > Quit iCal
    2. Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
    Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.ical
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache if present)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
--- NOTE: Removing these files may remove any shared (CalDAV) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.
    3. Launch iCal and test.
    Hope that helps.

  • ICal cannot save new entries in Leopard!! When showing Birthdays Calendar

It happens after upgrading to Mac OS X Leopard. I'll tried the same iCal and Address Book with a Mac OS X Tiger 10.4 and it works fine!
    The problem:
    - Occurred after upgrading to Leopard
    - When turning on the "Show Birthdays Calendar" (in Preferences...)
    - Changes in iCal, e.g. new entries, amending existing entries, deleting entries, etc., will NOT be saved!
    - It works again if the "Show Birthday Calendar" is unchecked
    - It also work with a "small" address book but not a BIG one -- My original one has over 2,500 contacts. If I replace it with a small one, these's no problem encountered.
    Appreciate help!

Could it be that the setting Sync Services in Entourage doing the erasing entries?
I am having fits trying to stabilize calendars and sync. Entourage to iCal to .mac to Nokia E61i is an awful chore, often long hours not successful too.

  • After iOS 5 update my iCal shows all my registered Birthdays one day earlier. Can anybody help? thx

After iOS 5 update my iCal shows all my Birthdays one day earlier. Please help. thx

Same issue here.  In searching through Apple Discussions site I see this has been happening for at least 5 years now were b-days can pop up 1 or even 2 days early.  Really Apple?  I am disappoint.

  • ICal shows old reminders!

I like the new iCal design, but one thing has me confused: in Day view, iCal shows the reminders/appointments from yesterday or earlier in Today's page.
In other words, iCal now, correctly, shows a big "26" at the top for today, July 26. Yet, directly beneath that area where reminders and appointments go, iCal shows what I set up yesterday. Those reminders I created were only for yesterday, the 25th.
If I click on them while viewing July 26, I'm taken back to July 25!
To me, this is seriously wrong behavior for a calendar. On today's calendar page, I need to be shown what's on for Today, either fresh appointments I create today or repeating reminders which extend through today.
Anyone else experiencing this?  Is this intentional behavior programmed in by Apple?
    rc

    Hi lori123,
I will try to make a long story short!
My problem was that deleting an iCal reminder alert, didn't work. The alert would continue to come up every 15, 30 60 minutes depending on the original request. I had to go to the calendar event and eliminate the alert to make it go away!!
So, I began with Apple tech call-back, and started a conversation with a tech guy. After he had me do a couple things, he knew the problem was not something he could probably resolve. He referred me to higher tech. He would have me do things and then we would have a conversation later so I could tell him what if anything happened. Because of his work schedule and my in-and-out, we had about a half dozen conversations over a 2-3 week period. I know he mentioned on a couple occasions he was talking to programers for input. I was very pleased with this tech's desire to fix the issue. AND the issue was solved.
    Couple points:
         * If you start a conversation with the tech people - save your calendar data. I did not lose anything but, I was more comfortable doing the things he asked me to do knowing I had the data.
         * When my problem first came up, I looked at these discussions and it appears Apple has a few problems with iCal, but I don't remember seeing and software update fixes!
         * One thing the tech told me was in iCal, users can ahve similar symptoms, but reqire different fixes.
         * I ma not a very techie person, although I like tech stuff. But I do not feel Apple has done a very good job in explaining iCloud set-up. I could be wrong!!!

  • "Work" calendar shows birthdays along with the "birthday" calendar

I'm having some troubles with birthdays in iCal. I've read most of the other topics about this but none seem to have the same problem.
My problem resides in the "work" calendar. It shows all birthdays I have in my address book. My question is why, and what makes that calendar different from all the others? The problems becomes evident when I activate the "show birthdays calendar" in the pref. pane. Along with the "work" calendar i get duplicates.
What I need to do is to make the "work" calendar" stop showing birthdays in iCal. Can someone please help me with this?

You probably don't need to invoke Einstein, but you probably do need to post in the iPhone forum:
    Using iPhone
This forum is for questions about the Communities themselves and so is not the most likely place for you to get help with your problem.
When you repost, calm down, post your issue clearly, and include basic information such as your versions of Mac OS X and iOS so that people have data one which to base suggestions.
    Regards.

  • ICal 'Show Holidays calendar' not showing holidays in Australia after upgrading to Yosemite.

Hello, I had been in Italy before moving to Australia and I had set Show Holidays calendar in iCal to display Italian holidays. When I've moved to Australia, I've changed the regional settings to Australia and therefore iCal was showing Australian holidays. After I've upgraded to Yosemite, I can't see any holidays anymore. I tried to uptick 'Show Holidays calendar' and reboot Yosemite, then tick it back and it is still not working for Australia. if I change my regional settings for instance for Italy, it works. It just refuses to display Australian Holidays so for now I'm forced to use Google calendar subscription for public holidays.
How can I restore the iCal 'Show Holidays calendar' ?

    Hi guys,
I had this problem too. I resolved it by going into System Preferences  > Language & Region and making sure the primary language was "English (U.K.)" under primary languages (i.e. at the top of the list of preferred languages).
I always had this set before, but I think upgrading to Yosemite changed this setting to "English" (without the "U.K.) which I guess is a generic "countryless" language. I believe the holidays setting in the calendar needs to know which country's holidays to display.
Hope this helps this waiting for a fix...

  • Is there a way to copy an ical calendar and then re enter it in ical at a later date?

is there a way to copy an ical calendar and then re enter it in ical at a later date?  i am trying to copy my workout calendar and move it forward but i want to keep the one from june july and august of this year.  I guess techinically it is a recurring calendar but all the exercises recur at different intervals

If you want to share albums on dropbox or similar web services, set the album in your custom order and use the export command to a temporary folder on your computer. To keep the sort order, use the option to rename with a common starting text string plus an order number. Since you'll upload those files to Internet, also use the resizing feature to export in a reasonable size, not too big for uploading/downloading, and not too small if you want your relatives to able to print and not only to view.
So, you'll get a folder ready to upload and share via Dropbox or another Web service.

  • HT2513 my iCal shows events in the "month" view but not in the "week" view? why is that?

  • ICal Show/expand more on mouse over?

I'm thinking of switching from google calendar to iCal, but what is really bugging me is how when in monthly view there is not easy way to see the events which have been hidden because there is not enough space. E.g. below are images from iCal (Fig 1.) and google calendar (Fig 2.1 and Fig 2.2), iCal shows there are 3 events that are hidden ("3 more...") and to look at these 3 events i need to double click on the date switching the view to the day view for that date. For google similarly there is a "+5 more" sign, but clicking on this expands it so you can quickly and easily see what is happening in the day.
Is there an option or add-on that I am not aware of which provides the google calendar functionality for iCal?
    Fig 1. iCal
    Fig 2.1 Google Calendar
Fig 2.2 Google Calendar with hidden events shown whilst in month view

    Norbert:
I took JR's excellent example and expanded on it to do ID by mouseover.
    I key it off EVENT_MOUSE_POINTER_MOVE.
I get a graph coordinate from the mouse coordinates using GetGraphCoordsFromPoint().
I use SetGraphCursor() to put a cursor at the mouse pointer, but then I turn right around and use GetGraphCursor() to move the cursor to the closest point on any plot (without me having to talk to Mr. Pythagoras!).
For development and demo purposes, I added options to Plot new data (randomized or not), and ID by click or ID by mouseover.
Play with the attached example and see if that's an approach that works for you.
Thanks for the great start JR!

  • Sync Bold9700 and ical different birthday date

    Hello community,
I sync my Bold 9700 over BB Desktop Manager 2.0 for Mac with ical and the addressbook. In my Bold addressbook I have some contacts with birthday info. After sync the birthdays in ical and addressbook on Mac are one day earlier. For example Peter birthday 03.05.1983 on my Bold contact. At the Mac addressbook Peter birthday 02.05.1983. In ical the birthday are also one day earlier. On my bold after sync they are sill fine. Someone knows this issue or had the same problem?
    Thanks
    Mike

    Hi,
I have the same issue with my Torch syncing iCal through BB Desktop 2.0.0.65. Birthdays are changed in iCal after 2nd sync with BB Torch to one day before the actual date. I restored an adressbook copy with the correct dates to my Contacts on my mac and after the first sync it looked fine again. during the second sync however I was asked to change a couple of hundred dates...again! incidently, it makes no difference whether you sync the iCal 'birthday' calendar with the BB or not.
I congratulated my wife a day early... rather confusing it is.
    anyone solved this yet?
Annoyingly, it is all or nothing. You can't choose to sync without making the changes, just by adding new appointments. sync all or none... pity.

  • ICal Shows NO calendars but iTunes sees and syncs...

iCal shows no calendars when I open it. When I sync my iPhone it knows there are 3 calendars, but they don't show up in the app. I've tried to repair permissions and delete the prefs and start over, but nothing works. I have my database backed up and have copied the Application Support > iCal folder so I should be covered if I need to nuke it.
    Any ideas?
Update: also I cannot modify or see ANY contents of any calendars in iCal. I cannot create new calendars or events. Nothing is responding. Is it possible to reinstall iCal w/o reinstalling the whole OS?

  • Ical showing today one day off

ical showing today one day off

    Heather,
Can you help me figure out why all of your Holiday's are different from your other events?
When/how were these Holiday events entered?
Have you checked iCal>Preferences...>Advanced>Turn on time zone support?

  • Problems with ical "show event times"

Help!  When I schedule an appointment at the half-hour mark, ical shows this (see below).  The class on Dec 9 shows the 6 p.m. "event time" next to it, which is what I want.
The class scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Dec 10 shows the date (12/10/13) right after the event time.  I don't want this.  How do I fix this?

    Hello drpepper2013,
It may be that the event in question is set up as an all-day event, rather than being constrained to a particular timeframe as the one that appears as desired.

The problem is the actual time - that shows up is 9 hours back (11 am - in fact 8 pm)
    Please help me!
    Thanks

The problem here is iCloud. The timezones are not correct. For example for Buenos Aires, Argentina the timezone have one our shift then the correct time. For other zones the timezone is really bad.
Apple, can you please fix this bug?
