Ical sinks 1 hour back to my iPhone

When I sync my iPhone to my iCal a certain group of events say they start an hour earlier on my phone when on my computer it says they start at the correct time i.e. MacBook iCal Dinner 6:00; iPhone says 5:00. How can I get it to sync the correct time of my events?

Downgrading is not supported by Apple.

To be honest, that sounds about right.
For example on my 8Mbps (megbits) down service I get around 0.4Mbps upload.  That is the equivalent of (very approximately) 3Mb (megabytes) per minute or 180Mb per hour.  Over 7 hours that would be just over 1Gb.
Obviously, it all depends on your connection speed, but that is certainly what I would expect, and that is why I use my computer for backing up, not iCloud.  So much quicker.

  • I'm having problems backing up my iphone 4 to icloud since 13/04/2012. First it says it's going to take about 5 hours, then it says backup failed. Following instructions-connected to wi-fi, plugged into PC

I'm having problems backing up my iphone 4 to icloud since 13/04/2012. First it says it's going to take 6 hours, then it says backup failed. Following instructions-connected to wi-fi, plugged into PC & locked the phone (though never had any problems like this before), but still no difference. Any ideas/similar problems?

unfortunately there are tons of people with this issue but Apple has not given any answers for us to fix this issue yet. I wish they would allocate more people to solving these problems when they roll out new versions of itunes along with new hardware.

  • Backing up my Iphone 4S - it has been running the back up in itunes for over 14 hours. Is this NORMAL??

I am backing up my Iphone 4S so, I can transfer all my data, numbers, apps, etc to my new Iphone 5. Although I have synced my 4S with itunes before, and I updated the iOS last week, I have never ran a back-up on it. I have had this phone for over a year, it has about 11 GB of storage used. UGH....It has been running this back up for over 14 HOURS!
Is it normal for it to take this long? If it is, how much longer is the back up going to take?
If it's not, what do I do????

IIf you previously had items backing up to the iCloud, changing to the new phone will take a while depending on how much data and apps your restoring to the new phone. If your like me with 1,000's of pics and videos, it's gonna take a while. Make sure your phone I plugged in, your on wifi and let it do its things. If you see all your apps updating, then it's doing something. If this is not your issue, then it could be the phone froze up. I have the 6 plus and recently switched from the 5, and it took a long time to restore from the cloud. Restoring from iTunes is quicker I guess, but I didn't have that option at the time and was dying to use the new phone I eaitrd 2 weeks for. Anyways, good luck and I hope I answered something for you.

  • I'm trying to restore and back up my iPhone 4 it's taking more than 45 hours. What should I do?

I have been trying to restore and back up my Iphone which i have just updated and I wanted my apps, contacts, messages, etc,. all back on my iPhone but its taking more than 45 hours and it's only 16 GB. I have really important contacts that I need to have in my phone but it would take weeks to get them back one by one without using the back up.

As has been said, you may have a corrupt backup on your computer. However, if it is a Windows computer you may also have a corrupt socket layer in Windows. So first try this (after canceling the backup):
Open a command window with Administrator privileges and type:
       netsh  winsock  reset
then reboot your computer and try again to do a backup (right click on the phone's name in iTunes and select Backup from the floating menu).
If this doesn't work you will have to delete the existing backup. Go to iTunes preferences, Devices page.
Note: If you have a Mac first try restarting it, launching iTunes, and back up as described above.

  • I have been backing up my iphone for more than 12 hours for the ios 5 update!!!!!!!!!! help.!!!!!!

i have been backing up my iphone for more than 12 hours for the ios 5 update!!!!!!!!!! help.!!!!!!

It sounds like you're connecting to an iTunes account you've never synced with?

  • HT201269 Just backed up my iPhone 5 through iTunes, installed iOS 7; now prompted to setup as new device or restore backup; select restore backup but prompted for a password .... which Password???!!!!!

I don't remember ever entering a password for backing up my iPhone 5; tried the password for my AppleID account => doesn;t work; stuck with my phone, unable to rstore

    Thanks Dajank,
I know what you're saying but I actually never selected the encypted backup. I talked to an Apple rep. about 1/2 an hour ago and she confirmed encrypted backup requires you enter the Password twice the 1st time you set it up. I'm positive I never did.
Wonder if the corporate (security) policies installed on my phone have anything to do with it. I'll have to wait and check tomorrow at work.

  • Is there a way to get phone numbers back on my iphone / or excel sheet?

Is there a way to get phone numbers back on my iphone / or excel sheet?
    What I've done:
I've upgraded my iphone from 2.0 to 2.1. To be able to do this I've upgraded to the latest iTunes and switched my USB port several times until it was finaly installed. Then, despite iTunes taking 3 hours time for making backups, I found my phone to be completely empty when it was finished. So, I tried to restored the phone. This gave an error 1602 and bricked my phone. Tried it all over again two times more with same results.
The bottom line is that I have an empty phone and I really would like to have my phone numbers back. There's some 1.02 GB of backup information in the apple directory, so I guess they must be something there. But how do I know which file I need and how to decode it?

Your contacts should still be on whatever program you sync your iphone to (i.e. Outlook, address book).
The iphone is not a stand alone device. It is designed to be synced with a computer. If you have not been syncing with a compatible program, then you are out of luck. Your contacts are not included in the back-up because it is meant to be synced with your computer.
"Although iTunes backs up most of your iPhone and iPod touch settings, downloaded applications, and other information (Contacts, calendars, notes, images in the Camera Roll), your audio, video, and photo content are not included in the backup."

  • The time in iCal is different from the time in iPhone Calendar

Why my appointments in iCal appear 1 hour later in iPhone's calendar?
For example, if I have an appointment to 11 AM in iCal, it appears as 12 in iPhone's calendar.
    Can anyone help me?

You might want to go to icloud.com from your computer, sign into your iCloud account, click on your name, then confirm that you have the correct time zone set for iCloud, and that on your phone in Settings>General>Date & Time that you have Set Automatically turned On.

  • "iTunes could not back up the iPhone 'my IPhone' because a session could not be started with the iPhone"

Since 2 updates I started getting iTunes could not back up the iPhone 'my IPhone' because a session could not be started with the iPhone. This is happening with my iPad and iPhone. I see hundreds of complains on this issue starting from last year and obviously Apple has no clue how to solve this error. I went through the solutions and spend over an hour deleting backups resetting lockdown, restarting and nothing is working. Are they serious to ask us to disconnect all other USB devices to sync our equipment everyday to solve their problem? iTunes is the worst program I have seen on the market in the past 10 years. It reminds me of DOS programs that could only do one item at a time. You click a command and just wait and wait and wait. Of course they want me to call customer service, wait for x time to talk to tech support and then spend more time. I don't have the time. I spent a lot of money to get an equipment that should work as advertised and not spend further my valuable time. I have reached my limit with Apple and that crap iTunes. I'm calling for a divorce.
[By the way, your spell check doesn't recognize your own products such as iPad, iTunes and iPhone. Such an embarrassing company.]

Do you happen to be running any processes that Apple doesn't want you to use? (Jailbroken?)

  • Can't get iCloud to back up on IPhone 5. Have 7.1 GB available. Backup keeps failing while I am plugged in and connected to wifi

Can't get iCloud to back up on IPhone 5. Have 7.1 GB available. Backup keeps failing while I am plugged in and connected to wifi. It will show backing up now and estimated time 20 plus hours and always ends up failing after a couple hours

You need at least 50 MB of free space in order to back up to iCloud.  Rather than backing up, have you tried importing the photos to your computer and deleting them from the camera roll as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083?

  • "An error occurred while backing up this Iphone (-50)"

    Hello all,
I've downloaded IOS4 and am trying to upgrade by 3G, but when I hit the upgrade button, I'm told repeatedly that there's an error backing up the Iphone (-50). I've reset the Iphone, turned off my firewall, rebooted, but I get the same message.
The thing is, I remember several months ago that my syncing was taking an hour every time because of the back ups. (I keep a large amount of data in a third party app.) I came here and learned how to prevent my 3G from backing up every sync, and my syncs have gone really fast since then. The problem is that I've forgotten what I did or how to change the settings. If I right-click "Iphone" under "Devices" in Itunes, I don't get any option to create a backup, nor can I find any "backup" command anywhere in Itunes (latest version).
I can't even figure out where to go (assuming there is a place to go) to check when my Iphone was last backed up. Itunes is giving me the option to go ahead and update without a backup, but I don't want to do that until I at least know when was the last time my Iphone was backed up.
Can anyone tell me (a) where to go to check my backup history, and (b) how to get my phone to back up, assuming that it's not doing so? Thanks!

The same thing happens to me.
I've tried two times to upgrade to iPhone OS 4.0, leaving the phone offline and syncing for 10 hours... the backup proceeds sluggish and about 5% it stops with the message:
"An error occurred while backing up this Iphone (-50)
Would you like to continue to update this iPhone without backup?
CONTINUING WITHOUT BACKUP WILL RESULT IN THE LOSS OF ALL CONTENT"
If I try to Continue another message says:
"The iPhone could not be updated because the firmware file was corrupt. Disconnect and reconnect, then try again."
I've never even tried to hack or jailbreak my iPhone, and everything was normal since I try to upgrade to OS 4.0
    This is my equipment:
    - iPhone 3G 16GB (14.64 full), sw 3.1.3
    - iTunes 9.2 (61) running on Snow Leopard 10.6.2

  • Please help!!!! My itunes wont back up my iphone 4

for the past 2 hours i have tried to back up my iphone.
Researched all the topics in apple and on google but after deleting, clearing the works, i have no luck.
Already deleted all my photos on my iphone, deleted the old back ups in the prefrences and i just want to back up my iphone because i had my old one stolen and do not want the same thing to happen in case it gets stolen again!!!
    PLEASE HELP!!!
My itunes is on a pc and I have an iphone 4
The message that comes up after syncing is "itunes could not back up the iphone ****** because the backup was corrupt or not compatible with the iphone. delete the backup for this iphone, then try again.

I figured it out, need to restart computer as exiting iTunes the pc is still running the file.
So exit out of iTunes then you restart the computer.
If you are using a pc just go into my computer, c drive, documents and settings, then administrator (or your username) then there are hidden files so in the toolbar just add on at the end application data and it should display all the hidden files which are the apple files. Click on the mobile sync file and backup file then delete the next file.
It should work, so then go in to iTunes and sync.
Answered my own problems once i calmed down! It may seem like your itunes and iphone are against you sometimes but they just do what they tell you to do.
Any problems after this let me know!!

    Hello there, deelish.
A great Knowledge Base article that has some valid information is:
iTunes: Specific update-and-restore error messages and advanced troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694
The pertinent section for you would be:
Restore loop (being prompted to restore again after a restore successfully completes)
Troubleshoot your USB connection. If the issue persists, out-of-date or incorrectly configured third-party security software may be causing this issue. Please follow Troubleshooting security software issues.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities!
