ICal subscribed calendars sync to iPhone ?

I have several calendars that are syncing well to iPhone from Leopard, but none of the subscribed calendars (holidays, sports team schedules, etc.) are syncing.
Is there some trick to get this to work?
Thank you for your help.

There are two answers to this subscribed calendars (holidays, sports team schedules, etc.) question.
1) When you sync the iPhone via your iTunes then the subscribed cals will sync. Be sure to check the correct boxes under iTunes. A visit to a genius bar may be needed.
2) If you sync your iPhone with MobileMe then you are out of luck.
The MobileMe issue:
This has been a thorn in everyones you know what for about one year. The answer to your question is..
You can't.
Apple does not support the idea of people actually getting all their info sync'd from MobileMe. If you have purchased a MobileMe Family Pack then the idea of sharing your info within a family is an oxymoron.
Just got back from MacWorld '09 and the utter disappointment in Apple not supplying an update to the iPhone in the Schiller keynote is overwhelming. No matter what the media is saying about MacWorld. The fact is, the two main issues at hand that people wanted to see for the iPhone was Copy/Paste and Shared iCals on their iPhones. It was not the stupid rumor of a iPhone nano. People really want functions fixed before new hardware.
No matter what Apple execs state about 'no one seems to care about these issues' is a lack of understanding about being mobile and productive. Apple created a great phone without allowing people to be to mobile.
So, until Apple finds the need to help its customer base with features they need or want (other then games and ifart programs from iTunes).. Well you are out of luck.
Sad to state, but true.

  • My ical won't sync with iPhone 4 after IOS 6.0.1 update

My ical won't sync with iPhone 4 after IOS 6.0.1 update. The "sync calendars" option is no longer available after I installed this update. Any ideas???I have tried a few times to sync, and nothing has changed on my calendars. I have had so many troubles with this update. Grrr...

I tried the same but it did not worked. But, i got a solution. I accessed gmail on my laptop. Went to gmail settings. There is a option to add a device. A iPhone was already listed. I clicked Revoke to remove it. Then i clicked add new device and gave it iPhone name and a new 16-20 character password was geenrated. I used it to configure gmail on my Iphone and it worked beautifully. So glad i have been able to fix this. That password is a one time password to authenticate that device.

  • Ical subscribed calendar with Iphone?

I have a client that uses Ical for multiple calendars. All are his, except for one, which he subscribes to.
That one calendar is not listed on his Iphone. It is the only one missing.
Is this normal or is there a way to turn on this functionality?

This is how I managed to get a workround.
Note my wife does not have a Mac, she only has a PC and uses her Iphone Calendar to share her appointments with me:
Firstly I Set up a new user on my Mac for my wife, I then created her ICal account and set it to publish to the net and for it to sync with MobileMe. You can email to subscribed Calendar link to your own account and subscribe from the message
Then go to this link and follow what they tell you to.
    http://www.jacksmac.com/JacksMac/Jacks_Mac_Blog/Entries/2008/8/21_iPhones_Calendar_Can_Show_iCalSubscriptions.html
Once completed ICal checks the published Calendar and copies it to a local folder. You need to leave your Mac on for this to work.
In addition to this I set up fast user switching which really helps this process. I did this by:
System Preferences > Accounts > Login option (Bottom LHS of the screen) > Check the box saying Enable Fast user Switching.
You will then see your login name appear on the top RHS of your screen next to spotlight, switch your user to the second profile, Launch ICal and set Mobile Me to sync and leave Ical open.
Once you have done this switch back to your main profile and open ICal in the background, all Calendars should then sync through to your iphone and be updated every 15 minutes.
NOTE IN ORDER FOR THIS TO WORK PROPERLY, YOU NEED TO LEAVE YOUR MAC SWITCHED ON AND LEAVE ICAL RUNNING IN BOTH PROFILES.

  • Exchange calendar syncs with iPhone, but not iCal

    Hi all,
My new employer uses Outlook, and my iPhone is permitted to be setup with an account which will access email, contacts and calendars. My events from my Outlook calendar automatically appear in my iPhone calendar, but do not show up on my MBP in iCal.
Is there a way to sync my Exchange account calendar on my iPhone with the MobileMe cloud, and have that calendar then put on my MBP?
The employer does not yet allow us to have an exchange account on our Macs -- we have to use MS Outlook Web Access.
    Thanks,
    Boris

    Dear Ckuan,
Thank you very much for this speedy response.  I appreciate it.
I'm trying to avoid updating my Mac OS (I'm on 10.6.8, which doesn't support iCloud), because my MacBook is a little old.
If you, or anyone, can suggest a way of making the sync work via the cable connection, I'd be very grateful.
    Thanks again,
    Caroline

  • How to get SUBSCRIBED calendars synched on iPhone/MobileMe

Create, and place this Apple script in your Appliations folder
    Instructions follow the script...
    -- iCal Duplicator 2.0
-- MobileMe Push Sync with iCal does not currently support susbcribed calendars. This has disappointed some like
-- myself, who rely extensively on subscribed calendars. This kludgy solution copies events from a subscribed calendar
-- to a local calendar. Set your calendar names in the script, then run the script on a weekly/daily basis or manually to
-- update your local copy/copies based on the subscribed calendar.
-- Support for copying from multiple calendars has been added. You'll need to enter the source and destination names as
-- pairs. If you want multiple subscribed calendars copied into one local calendar, you can enter the local calendar names
-- multiple times as I have for the "Combined - Local" calendar.
    -- Christian Lindemer, July 15th, 2008 {macosxhints (a) dethbunny (.) net}
    -- * * * Edit values to match actual calendar names * * *
    -- The subscribed calendars
    property sourceCalendarNames : {"Davidcopy", "Othercopy"}
-- The blank local calendar(s) to copy in to, in the same order as the source calendars
    property destinationCalendarNames : {"Davidcopy", "Other"}
-- how many days to go back - the more you add, the slower the script runs.
    property oldEntryDays : 1
    on run
--make sure we have valid names.
    try
    tell application "iCal"
    repeat with testName in sourceCalendarNames
--this throws an error if there is no calendar with the given name, thus checking the calendar's validity.
set testCal to (the first calendar whose title is the testName)
    end repeat
    repeat with testName in destinationCalendarNames
set testCal to (the first calendar whose title is the testName)
    end repeat
    end tell
    on error
--if a name can't be found, alert user and halt.
    calendarNotFound(testName)
return --this effectively quits the script
    end try
    repeat with destName in destinationCalendarNames
    clearEvents(destName)
    end repeat
    set calendarCount to 1
    --repeat through all calendar names
    repeat with sourceName in sourceCalendarNames
--get the calendar names and pass them to the copyEvents function
set destinationName to item calendarCount of destinationCalendarNames

    tell application "iCal"
    --Clear the destination calendar
set destCalendar to (the first calendar whose title is the destCalName)
set calendarEvents to (events of destCalendar) -- get the destination calendar's event list
repeat with myEvent in calendarEvents -- delete each existing event
    delete myEvent
    end repeat
    end tell
    end clearEvents
    on copyEvents(sourceCalName, destCalName)
    tell application "iCal"
set sourceCalendar to (the first calendar whose title is the sourceCalName)
set destCalendar to (the first calendar whose title is the destCalName)
set calendarEvents to (events of sourceCalendar) -- get the calendar's event list
repeat with myEvent in calendarEvents -- repeat for each item found in the source event list
    --Don't bother with old events
if start date of myEvent > ((current date) - oldEntryDays * days) then --event is in future, or within prefs for old entries
-- gather relevant details of event to create new event with
set eventStart to start date of myEvent
set eventEnd to end date of myEvent
set eventAllDay to allday event of myEvent
set eventSummary to summary of myEvent
-- create event in destination calendar with details of subscribed event
    tell destCalendar
    make new event at end with properties {summary:eventSummary, start date:eventStart, end date:eventEnd, allday event:eventAllDay}
    end tell
end if --if not older than 'oldEntryDays' days ago
end repeat --iterate through entries in source calendar
    end tell
    end copyEvents
Let's say you have a subscribed calendar named "David"
Go into iCal and create a new calendar ("on my Mac") named "Davidcopy" with the same color as your subscribed calendar.
Repeat for any other subscribed cals you want to sync to iPhone.
    Open the CopyCal script
Edit the first line of (uncommented) code which starts with property sourceCalendarNames:
Change the names of the cals in this list to match the subscribed cals you wish to copy
Edit the list on the next line to match the NEW cals you created ("Davidcopy" etc)
Next look at iCal and uncheck the subscribed cals.
Run the script and watch the copying take place.
Now to automate this, set up an event everyday (as often as you like). Preferably this can be in another calendar you don't publish - so everyone doesn't have it cluttering their view of your cal.
For example I have events named "sync" at 9:30am and 5pm every weekday. For the alarm, use "Run Script" and choose the CopyCal.scpt.

    on copyEvents(sourceCalName, destCalName)
    tell application "iCal"
set sourceCalendar to (the first calendar whose title is the sourceCalName)
set destCalendar to (the first calendar whose title is the destCalName)
set calendarEvents to (events of sourceCalendar) -- get the calendar's event list
repeat with myEvent in calendarEvents -- repeat for each item found in the source event list
    --Don't bother with old events
if start date of myEvent > ((current date) - oldEntryDays * days) then --event is in future, or within prefs for old entries
-- gather relevant details of event to create new event with
set eventStart to start date of myEvent
set eventEnd to end date of myEvent
set eventAllDay to allday event of myEvent
set eventSummary to summary of myEvent
set eventRecurrence to recurrence of myEvent
-- create event in destination calendar with details of subscribed event
    tell destCalendar
    make new event at end with properties {summary:eventSummary, start date:eventStart, end date:eventEnd, allday event:eventAllDay, recurrence:eventRecurrence}
    end tell
end if --if not older than 'oldEntryDays' days ago
end repeat --iterate through entries in source calendar
    end tell
    end copyEvents

  • Google announces Calendar Sync on iPhone...a few questions

    http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=138740
Google has announced today that you can now sync your calendar and contacts with the iPhone and it supports push.
I've been using MobileMe to sync my calendar and contacts and have been waiting for the day when I could sync my Google Calendar because of the fact I have so many subscribed calendars at work that I need access too.
For anyone that's done this syncing with Google yet, can you confirm the following:
    1. Will it allow you to do just calendar and not touch your contact data if you don't want it to?
    2. Will you be able to add reminders (alerts) that will work on the phone the same was as the iCal syncing works?

    Is this possible?
    Setup:
MacBook and MacBook Pro at home syncing iCal events (in four different calendars) and Address Book contacts with iPhone via Mobile Me. At work I forward Outlook appointments to Gmail, which puts them in a Google calendar, which the Macs at home pull into their iCal using CalDAV. Of course, that calendar does not sync to the iPhone. This setup circumvents the problem that the iPhone's Outlook Exchange syncing isn't supported at work.
    Question:
Is it possible to sync just one calendar in Google calendar with the iPhone? I don't want the four calendars that sync over Mobile Me to sync to Google Calendars as well. I suppose that work calendar, once synced with the iPhone, will find its way via Mobile Me to iCal on the Macs at home, so that I can then simply unsubcribe to the CalDAV feed.
    Thanks,
    Richard

  • Left iCloud - how to get iCloud calendars synced from iPhone?

Like many people have experienced, iCloud's calendar-syncing issues have made a mess of my calendar-dependent schedule. An unmitigated disaster. I finally signed out of iCloud, and left the iCloud calendars on my iPhone, the only place other than iCloud my multiple calendars currently exist, due to Outlook sync problems.
Now, I can't get the multiple calendars on iPhone to sync with ANYTHING else, not google calendar, not outlook, not iCal. Only the main calendar syncs up, noe of the colored other categories I was using.
If anyone has a notion of how to deal with this I'd be deeply appreciative. Thank you!!

  • My ical calanders dont sync on iphone and ipad

my ical calanders dont sync between my iphone, ipad, and imac computer. I back them up to the cloud.

First lets establish that you have calendars enabled on your iPhone and iPad.
Go to Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Select the account of which you are using calendars with (iCloud, Gmail, Etc)>Enable
Now on your iMac, go to Calendars, and ensure that you are creating/syncing calendars with the same account(s) you are using on your iOS devices.

  • ICal delegates intermittently syncs with iPhone

We have a Mac Mini in the office running Leopard Server and a computer that the secretary uses to make appointments on iCal for staff who are assigned as delegates and recieve any updates to the calendar on their iPhone/iPad/iCal. iPads seem to be syncing with the iCal server no problem but the iPhones only seem to sync every now and then. I can't seem to find what the issue could be. Any ideas?

    Let's see.
    * Apple puts a "Notes app" on the iPhone, that you can't update via your Apple computer.
    * Apple puts a "To Do List" feature on your computer's iCal application that you can't update via the ICal app on the iPhone.
*The Apple iCal "To Do List" appears inside Mail application, assuming you think to look there and have your settings done just-so. Hey, why not go the whole hog and make it accessible only via shortwave radio?
I defy Steve Jobs to use Apple iCal and the other scheduling items for a full week -- without benefit of support staff -- for all of his personal & business appointments. Let's see how he likes it.

  • Only one gCal sub-calendar syncs with iPhone

    1. I have just added my gCal CalDav account to my iPhone list. I have followed the direct gCal --> iPhone syncing instructions very very carefully. It turns out, however, that only one of my various gmail sub-calendars syncs, and all the rest stay practically invisible. What do I do wrong?
    2. Also, I was able to CalDav sync gCal <--> iCal, and these sub-calendars do appear on my iCal, but as delegations. Weirdly enough, the delegations stay invisible to iTunes, and thus preventing me to sync iCal --> iPhone.
    3. When the dust settles down, I have on my iPhone only a partial representation of my gCal calendars. Help is highly appreciated!

Ah ha, I found a workaround! This is using iOS 4.
    1. Set which calendars are shared by Google Calendar via CalDAV at:
    https://www.google.com/calendar/iphoneselect
    2. On the iPhone, go to Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Add Account... -> Other -> Add CalDAV Account
    Server: www.google.com
    User Name: (your gmail address)
    Password: (your gmail password)
    Description: gcal
This creates a gcal section in the iOS 4 Calendar app after the From My Mac section, which contains my (default) gcal calendar, and the other calendars I shared via the top url.
All of this is, I think, independent of which calendars iCal uses and which calendars you told iTunes to sync to the iPhone.

  • Ical won't sync with iPhone 5, iPad 2 or macbook pro.

I have updated my devices and now my ical won't sync with iPad 2, macbook pro or iPhone 5.  How can I refresh them so they will all sync together.  I just noticed that when I added an event on my ipad2 it did not show up on my macbook pro.  I turned iCloud off then on again.  I also turned calendars on and off again.  Then the event disappeared from my iPad also.  So now it is only on my iPhone 5.  How do I sync ical with all my devices?

    Anna,
I have tried everything suggested by the apple support webpage.
It would be helpful to know if you used this support article: iCloud: Troubleshooting iCloud Calendar.

  • ICal will not sync with iPhone

When I tried to sync an appointment created on the iPhone with iCal it will not show up in iCal.

I just posted this to an earlier question on an issue very similar. Might help some of you watching this topic.
This process, which AppleCare gave me last night worked to solve my problem. However, I have one nugget to add to the fix, a faster process to try first.
    EDITED FROM PREVIOUS POST:
Try these steps to narrow down the offending calendar and/or event.
    1. create a new calendar in ical. Name it test, iphone or something.
    2. uncheck all your calendars in ical, so you can only view the events in the new calendar
    3. put a test event in the new calendar ( in the future). Call it Test 1.
    4. connect up your iphone and set the iphone to sync only to that new calendar.
    5. In the info tab that shows up when the iphone is connected, make sure to sync ical calendars is checked
    6. Set it to sync only selected calendars.
    7. in the window that shows all the calendars, only have the new calendar checked.
    8. put a check mark in the box not to sync items older than... Set it to 1 day.
    9. Now click apply in the bottom right side of itunes. (this will see if the iphone can sync to ical)
    10. Once you have established that the iphone can sync, go back into the info tab and uncheck the new calendar created and check only one of your old calendars.
    11. Click apply and try to sync the iphone to that particular calendar.
    12. Keep un-checking a calendar that syncs and check a different calendar until you run across a calendar that does not sync. The one that gives you a disconnect error.
    13. Now that you've narrowed it down to the offending calendar, you know that it has to do with an event from yesterday and forward. (ED.- in my experience, this DID NOT prove that the event was limited to the time you specify for the sync. But it does no harm to narrow the scope for iPhone.)
    14. Go back to ical and put a check mark in the calendar that is giving the issue. So now you see the new calendar created and the offending calendar.
    15. Now you need to figure out which event/events that are causing the problem.
NEW STEP 16. Fast fix (try this first, and if it doesn't work, you'll try the longer piecemeal process.)
Cut and paste All events to your new test calendar. The fastest way do this is to open the list of events by clicking on the list icon (3 lines) on the bottom left of ical.
    17. Sort by title and if any events show up with a blank title, fix these or delete them.
    18. Sort by type of item so you only select the events, and not any ToDo items.
    19. Shift click at the top of the list, shift-click at the bottom of the list and everything should be highlighted. Then, with the cursor on one of the items highlighted, Control-click and a menu will open. Select Calendar, and then your test calendar. This moves everything into your new calendar.
    17. Try to sync.
In my experience, ical fixed some items that were queer by moving them to a new calendar. My original calendar was imported from Outlook.
If this doesn't work, you'll need to try again by creating another test calendar and then moving over a few items at at time, syncing after each import, wading through your events until you find the culprit.
We return to our regular programming here:
    16. Start moving events over a few at a time to the newly created calendar and sync the iphone only to the new calendar. You can move events 2 ways.
16A. if you have the tray to the side expanded so you can view the details of the event, you can change what calendar it is in.
16B. At the bottom of ical there is a button to the right that allows you to view all evens in a list view. You can right-click or control-click on the event and move to a different calendar.
16c. CORRECTION TO ORIGINAL POST Sync iPhone.
    17. Keep following step 16 until you receive the the disconnect error.
    18. When you get the disconnect error again, you know that the last batch of events has the offending, or one of the offending, event/events.
If you run through all of your calendars and do not receive the disconnected error, then the data that was disconnecting the iphone was older data. (ed. -In my experience, this proved false. the error was buried in old data, even though I had the setting at "1" day.)

  • ICal won't sync between iPhone and iPad

My iCal will not sync from my iPad to my iPhone.

If new events added to the calendar on your phone do not appear on your calendar on icloud.com, go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Calendar on your phone and be sure you have selected an iCloud calendar as your default and not something else like On My iPhone, a Gmail or Yahoo calendar, etc.  If you haven't, make this change, then add a new event and see if it appears on your calendar on icloud.com now.
If your settings are correct and new events still aren't appearing on icloud.com, add any missing calendar events from your phone to your calendar on icloud.com.  Once the calendar on icloud.com is up to date, go to Settings>iCloud, turn Calendars to Off, choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted (they will still be in iCloud), then after a minute or so, turn Calendars back to On.  Then add a new event on your phone and see if it appears on your calendar on icloud.com and your iPad now.
