ICal Sync for (reluctant) Android user

I have always been an iPhone user but earlier this week I was gifted a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 phablet. Needless to say it was an amazingly generous gift so I am doing my best to integrate this new Android into my Mac world. My wife still uses an iPhone and I own a MacBook Pro so the only thing I'm having a challenge with is syncing our calendars. We currently do not use Google Cal online, we just input dates into iCal on our phones and a few times a week I sync both phones up with my MBP. But now that I have an Android, syncing on my end will be different. I'd like to have my wife continue using her phone and sync to iCal but is there a way I can link up with the changes she makes to our shared iCal calendar without having to make us both switch to Google Cal? Your help is MUCH appreciated.

It doesn't appear there is any way to do it without syncing with Google. And they say Apple limits choice...

Exchange Not Syncing for Some iPhone Users

Hey, everyone!
So I’m a bit stuck and wondering if anyone else has run into a similar issue. We’re running Exchange 2010 and recently 4 users have had the same issue with their iPhone where it won’t sync their mail automatically. It sync the first time they launch Mail, but
otherwise, it won’t.
I’ve experienced similar issues before, and the fix was always to remove the account from the iPhone and then readd it. That caused the first “oddity” where iOS just spun trying to remove the account. The only way we were able to get it to finally remove was
by using iOS’s “Reset All Settings.”
So once, I got that done, I went ahead, removed the Exchange account from the phone, then I even went into OWA and removed the device from that user’s profile.
Finally, I readded the account. It seemed to work for a moment, but then later in the day it stopped working again.
Now, 90% of my users are on iOS and this is only happening to 4, so it’s definitely isolated. Everyone seems to be on the same version of iOS 7.
I’ve made sure that all Exchange Services are running and the server has been up for over a month.
I’m really not sure what to tell these people. To some degree, it doesn’t seem to be a problem on our end, especially given how iOS is being weird about removing the account.
As I’m sure you know, that doesn’t make people happy.
Has anyone run into this problem before? What was the solution?

Thanks. Your first suggestion is what I did at first, though iOS wouldn't allow them to remove their accounts at first. Apple had to help them restore their phones to get it to do that. (Not sure what was going on there).
I didn't look at the IIS logs, but what I tried since I was up late on Thursday night was to reboot the server. Whatever issue was going on, that fixed it.
It's weird because all the services were running and the server acted fine, but it fixed it.
Suppose I should always take my own advice and just reboot, but taking down Exchange is always a big to-do here. People can't live without their email.
Anyway... thanks so much for the feedback. If it happens again, I'll check the IIS logs. I didn't think to try that before.

Syncing for the novice user

I'm going to 'fess up here. I have never used iTunes. Our children do, but so far we have managed our music with our CD collection. But all that will change now we've got an iPad and can have our music on the move like the rest of the western world. I have a wifi network, but I've connected my iMac to the router with an ethernet cable for speed.
I've just been looking at my iPad user guide to find out about my next step into this new-fangled world where my iMac and iPad can share all they have. There's a new word 'syncing' and it appears that I can sync via iCloud or iTunes, so now I'm completely confused, and a bit nervous because it says that I shouldn't sync my contacts, calendars, bookmarks and notes with iCloud if I've synced them with iTunes. Why are there two ways of syncing? Is one better than the other? Or are they better at different things? How do I choose? What if I get it wrong? Help! I don't understand!

Syncing with iTunes will transfer content from the iTunes library on your computer to your iDevice - your iPad, iPhone, iPod, iPod Touch....
I recommend using iTunes in order to get started with learning how to do this and leave the iCloud stuff for later on when you have a better understanding of how the process works. That is just my opinion - others will feel differently than I do.
All of these kb articles will give you a basic understanding of what is involved. You should prbably start with these before you sync with the Mac.

You can connect the iPad to the Mac with the supplied cable in order to sync and use iTunes that way. You do not need to sync over WiFi if you don't want to do so. Again, I would recommend holding off on WiFi syncing as well.
If you have never synced with your computer yet and you have content already on the iPad that you downloaded, you will get a message that iTunes will erase your iPad and replace it with the contents of your iTunes library when you try to sync the first time. You need to make the iTunes library on the Mac your own syncing library before you can sync with iTunes.
Syncing contacts and calendars with iCloud is over the air WiFi syncing and it will keep all of your other iDevices in sync if you choose to do that. You add an event on the iPad calendar and it will show up on your iPhone. That is just one example of what iCloud syncing does. The same thing will happen when you add a contact on an iDevice or edit that contact.
Why don't you start by reading those articles, then come back with more specific questions ... a couple at a time....rather than a whole laundry list of "how do I ..." types of things.

Please see if these help (for 11gR2)
Export the LDAPUser.xml file from MDS using weblogicExportMetatdata.bat. This xml contains the attributes mapping between OIM and OID for LDAP synchronization.
Include the entry for OIM attribute (if entry does not exist for the attribute in the XML) under entity-attributes node. For e.g. use the following xml snippet to add the entry for ISD Code for Phone attribute
<entity-attributes><attribute name=”ISD Code for Phone”> <type>string</type> <required>false</required> <attribute-group>Extended </attribute-group> <searchable>true</searchable> </attribute> </entity-attributes>
Include the entry for OID attribute under target-fields node. For e.g. use the following xml snippet to add the entry for CountryCode
<target-fields><field name=”CountryCode”><type>String</type> <required>false</required> </target-fields>
Now map the OIM attribute with the OID attribute using the following xml snippet under attribute-maps node
<attribute-maps><attribute-map> <entity-attribute> ISD Code for Phone </entity-attribute> <target-field>CountryCode</target-field> </attribute-map></attribute-maps>
Save the changes and import the file back into MDS using WebLogic import utilities.

Mobile User iCal Sync not syncing

Hi,
I've got a mobile user account that doesn't seem to be syncing properly. It only seems to affect iCal sync, though.
On the user's MacBook, they have two calendars which are local calendars and one CalDAV account back on the iCal Server.
On the user's mac mini in the office, they aren't getting the local calendars from the MacBook despite the MacBook doing a full sync before they log in to the Mac Mini.
Does this mean that local iCal calendars are stored outside of the user's home directory? Has anyone else come across this problem?

In Lion, iCal is now synced via iCal Preferences.

i have externalised user authentication in Shared services . I provisioned all users for Essbase and refresh the security from Essbase ,So all users are working fine
and can login in Essbase and "Excel add-in" as well..
but there is one user who is still not working for "Excel Add in"..

Also User is available under Users in EAS ,But no applications are displaying in Analytic Server , While I have given Administration Privileges for Essbase app.
But still error while login in Excel add in ..

Firefox for Android User Agent WRONG

I am using Firefox on my Galaxy S4 which has a screen size of 1080 x 1920 and Firefox is reporting that it is a Tablet. I am running a custom DPI of 320. The issue is that T-Mobile thinks I am tethering when i am not. Please, I beg you, make an option to select the User Agent that the USER wants. This will allow me once again to use your web browser for Android. Thanks.

Try connecting the iPad to the computer that you do not want to WiFi sync with and uncheck the WiFi sync option in iTunes. Then click on Apply. Reboot the iPad and see if that does the trick.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

ICal alerts not working for only one user

My main user account stopped giving me iCal alerts. I can switch to another user and my test alert works. I've found a lot of information online but most seems to be for older versions of iCal. I have gone into ~user/Library and removed everything related to iCal. I even managed to finally delete the home calendar that seemed to re-appear. I managed to start with a clean calendar but no alerts. Is there an alert plist file that could be the culprit? I've done a global search in Terminal for anything under ~User/Library with "alert" or "notification" in the filename but can't find anything. I hate to rebuild an entire account again.

It seems someone has set the user policy at webapplication level for that user.Check the similar thread below

Why don't we have Dominion for the iPad...Android users have a version!

Seriously this is one of the most popular card games/board games in existence right now.
We have how many **** card generators for this game??? Over a dozen...and no one has thought to make the actual game
for the iPad or iPhone. Even a knock off would be good.
You could easily charge 9.99 for a Dominion game app...possibly more.
If I had the skills to make it I would.
Stop screwing around with making random game generators for the game and make the GAME!
Android users have a very good knock off, its a crying shame that I have to ask to use my wife's
peice of crap $49.99 phone to play it, while she has my over priced iPhone.

We don’t need to run this script on all the server. Just once is enough. For the problematic users, you can use Set-CASMailbox –id user |FL to check if the restrictions are applied

As it should have been transferred to your computer when you synced, you can contact itunes support and ask for an exception.
