ICal sync issues (times are incorrect)

Hi guys
I am having some strange issues with iCal at the moment. As you can see below when I send out invities people are receiving two seperate times in the body of the email, and in the ics attachement.
I have done some browsing and can confirm the following:
1/ All my calendars (iCloud, iCal) are set to Singapore timezone as well as having Time Zone support ON
2/ My iPhone is set to Time Zone support on and to Singapore time
Screenshot of the email attached.
Any help or suggestions are much appreciated.

you may want to check your time settings on your macpro first: system preference>date&time>time zone... make sure you have the right time zone and city, then in system preference>date&time>date&time... check "set date & time automatically".
then in ical: ical>preferences>advanced, make sure you have "Turn on time zone support" selected.
finally on the iphone: settings>general>date&time, make sure you have time zone support selected and the right time zone/city.
hope this helps.

For some reason, although iPhone imports events from iCal, the times for the events are incorrect! This is extremely problematic. Any suggestions on a fix? i am using Leopard 10.5.1, MacPro, and have the 8GB version of the iPhone.

  • ICal Sync Issue

I have a Macbook Pro running OS Leopard.  I have IPhone 4S and IPAD2, both running latest IOS 5.  Any event I enter in ICAL in my Macbook shows up in my IOS devices.  However, what's in the calendars in my IOS devices will not sync to my Macbook.  I tried a solution I found at http://askville.amazon.com/iphone-ical-sync/AnswerViewer.do?requestId=15018816 but this did not do anything.  Appreciate any help anyone can provide.

I had the same issue. Resetting the sync history didn't fix it. I switched to syncing only a single, brand new calendar that wasn't published to an external server. This worked. . I then exported my main calendar and imported it to this new calendar. Everything still worked.
I then added in all my other calendars. All of these are subscribed calendars (read only), and I had about 7 of them plus the iCal generated Birthdays calendar. This worked too.
Finally, I switched iTunes to sync "All Calendars" and published the new main calendar I created in the first step to my home server. At this point things broke again...items created on the iPhone wouldn't sync. I removed "All Calendars" and manually selected every calendar in the list (so it's the same data now, but if I add a new calendar it won't automatically sync). This got things working again.
I'm not sure if that would have done it the first time, but it has fixed things now.

  • DTM for Mac iCal sync issue

Ok download went well. upgrade os went well.  first sync went well....until.....I realized that my calendars were all now merged.
Background: in ical I have 4 calendars created: work, home, wife's, gmail.  all color coded for ease of understanding.
DTM sees the calendars and their names prior to sync.  They are actually still color coded at this time.
Issue:  when the calendars sync all calendars "merge" in to one "gmail" calendar and that's all.   When I look at the preferences on the BB it now has 6 calendars (none from ical named) one for each email address I have on the bb.  ie. [email protected], [email protected], [email protected]  and so on.
Why and how can this be corrected?
I can honestly say that google sync worked WAY better than this piece of crap released.

Desktop manager will only sync the default calendar.  If they other events are not entered in to the default calendar they will not sync.  They will stay on your device though.
If you want you can "move" them to the default.   Then they will sync to ical.
To move them, open the event.  hold the alt key down and type the word move.  this will bring up a pop up that asks if you want to move the event to your default calendar.  The name will pop up in the question.
Choose yes.  Then hit the back arrow (the curved arrow) and hit the discard button.
The even is now moved to your default and will sync with your ical.

  • ICal syncing issues

Hi - can anyone help me....
I have a Macbook Pro at home, an iMac at my office, and an iPhone in my pocket. I cannot, for the life of me, get the calendars to sync properly. On my laptop I have appointments that do not appear on my iPhone (very frustrating) and sometimes things that I add to my iCal on the iMac don't appear on either the iPhone or the Macbook. Also the reminders are a nightmare. Because I often leave both computers running all the time if a reminder appears on one of the machines it remains there until I am beside that machine to be able to either delay it or cancel it. Therefore this means that further reminders on other devices don't come up and sometimes I miss things I supposed to do.
    Two more questions (sorry):
Is it possible to add postponement time options to the drop down that appears when a reminder comes up on the screen. The choices are somewhat limited, they go in nice stages up to two hours, then the next choice is one day! Sometimes I want a reminder in four or eight hours but to do that I need to just keep going in increments of two hours which occasionally leads to the problems referred to above.
Secondly, when a reminder comes up in the iPhone whilst it is being used (i.e. on a call) you have a choice of either close or open appointment. Does close mean that it just closes it from what you are doing or does that mean that it cancels the ongoing reminder? Similarly when you click the other option there seems to be no obvious way postpone the reminder for another few hours.......??
    Sorry to be so long-winded
    Darren

  • Mobile itemisation - times are incorrect

A new month a new problem - and it's another one which clearly shows that there was little or no testing before the software was released.
Just got my latest mobile bill to download and headed for the option to grab the itemisation as a csv file. Lots of stuff in there that I'm not too sure I needed to know, but it's not difficult to ignore columns that might be wanted by other folk.
The big trouble is that the itemisation call times are riddled with errors - loads of calls and texts in the middle of the night! Digging around with the csv file and comparing it to the pdf bill copy, i discover that all afternoon & evening calls have been time shifted back 12 hours. A bit more sorting shows calls and texts only display as from 01:00 to 12:59. Looks to me as if they have taken data that was formatted in AM / PM style and then just grabbed part of it, so all are treated as AM - why on earth didn't they use the original call record which is held in 24hr format!!
So, when will this be fixed and what delights await me next month? Presumably, this will be like all the other errors and data losses from previous months - never corrected and backdated, so every bill since February with something wrong ......
Oh, and by the way, the pdf bill version still only shows the 1st 2 minutes of "call home free" and misses out the (potentially very long) continuation data - although the csv does have it this month.
    David

Well, a month has gone by and of course the next bill comes out with exactly the same faults!
Are the poor mods not allowed to tell us that they have been instructed to bin all complaints made via here, or does the team they pass them to bin the problems and lie to our mods that action is being taken?
I have had enough and will now be taking a rather more aggressive legal line. A bill that has been proven to contain errors of fact cannot be legally enforced, and once evidence of my numerous challenges is produced, I would expect any adjudicator to find against a cowboy organisation who fail to rectify or respond.
Also time to get a formal complaint in via the Chairman's office - much tighter timescales that have to be met and higher management visibility of failures. Enough of these will affect the annual bonus for the individual managers, as they all have customer perception targets to meet.
I think it's time to seek compensation too - I'm having to hack what data I can scrape out and eventually mangle it into something usable to apportion costs across my family users. Why should I have to spend hours of my time fixing what should have been done months ago?
Mods - you've been sent my info once already, so I'm sure you can find out who you passed it to last time and give them a boot up the proverbial .....

  • Does entourage 2008 solve all the new 10.6.3 ical syncing issues?

I am keeping a running list of known issues with entourage and ical after the 'upgrade' from 10.4 to 10.6.3 OS.
I have had two duplicated entourage ical calendars, time shift of events and now lastly, when i went to sync at 11pm last night, entourage calendar was wiped completely blank and will not sync.
my threads i have found, only a partial list:

yesterday i noted the at had a duplicate ical calendar from entourage syncs. i posted this:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2433438&tstart=0
i spent all day on this matter backing up calendars, trying to reimport, sync etc. at 10:50 pm last night after taking on the task of eliminating and removing duplicates from my entourage/ical calendars i sync my work and my entourage calendar went blank. and as if this hour, 8 hours later, not data in the entourage calendar.
OS 10.6.3 upgraded the combo patch too.

    MY POSTING from yesterday:
duplicate ical calendar was created wheni upgraded fro OS 10.4 to 10.6.3
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2433438&tstart=0

So I run the 10.6.3 Combo updater and the problem is now gone. The password was added to the keychain correctly and I can access my Google calDav calendars.
So the big question would be why the 10.6.3 update failed?

  • ICal Syncing Wrong Times with Ipod Touch or iPhone - Everything 2 Hours Off

Every setting is uniform across all devices (timezones, etc) and yet iCal on my iPod touch or iPhone lists my scheduled events 2 hours earlier than what I inputed on my computer. The iCal calendar on Snow Leopard is correct, but my synced devices are not.
What gives? This is a HUUUGEEE issue for someone that uses their schedule book to get through each day. iCal is TOTALLY UNRELIABLE with this issue.

I have almost exactly the same problem. The ical on my macbook has the correct times, but on my ipod touch all events appear one hour earlier. Both devices are set to Geneva time, and the time displayed on them is the same.
This is really annoying as I am about to set off travelling, and was just going to take my touch for schedule - now I either have to pack my macbook or do everything the good old fashioned pen and paper way.
    Can anyone help?

  • Apparent ical sync issue

Wondering if someone can explain 2, similar console messages I am repeatedly getting. They both seemingly reference my birthday calendar. Nevertheless, I cannot figure out what the sync-ing issue is so that I can fix the problem.

  • HT1296 iCal sync issue

Up until about 2 weeks ago, when I'd sync my iCal, both my phone and computer calendars would sync to the most recent events and the calendars would match up.  Now, when I sync, the info goes from the computer to the phone but not  from the phone to the computer.  In addition, the events that go from the computer to the phone, are not only the most recent event but also include other times that event might have been scheduled or other calendars.  For example, if I create an event on the computer  for a meeting at 11:00, then change the event to 1:00, both appointment times will sync to the phone.  I've been looking for ways to change sync settings but nothing seems to address this issue.  Help!

Why no replies to this, is anybody out there? Or is the community a waste of time?

  • Mark/Space iCal sync issue

After not hotsyncing for a week (I was out of town) I tried to hotsync and got a Hotsync alert that more than 5% of my data in iCal would be changed. I backed up my data and boldly hotsynced.
Now I have lots of items that I previously had deleted going back months in iCal. Interestingly, the "ghost" items are appearing only in iCal and not on my Palm. Any ideas?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
It's hard to know exactly what happened without having actually watched this problem unfold.
It's unlikely that the Missing Sync for Palm OS tossed up the standard Sync Services 5% threshhold warning, which is actually set for the framework in iSync. And, the reappearance of old iCal data and the problem appearing in your Palm calendaring application suggest that .Mac Sync and your .Mac records are responsible, not the Missing Sync for Palm OS.
I experienced an unrelated, but somewhat similar issue which did involve .Mac and which I have not yet been able to correct, despite resetting the truth database [something you can do] and unregistering sync clients [something that you cannot do] with developer tools. There is a clear, but apparently unrecognized and undefined problem on the server side of .Mac that triggered my issue, and may well have triggered yours also.
    I suggest that you…
    • turn off .Mac synchronization, assuming that it is enabled
    • reset the truth database using the Reset Sync History button in the iSync Preferences… dialog
    • remove the bogus records manually from iCal if you cannot restore your calendars from a contemporary backup copy
    • back up your iCal and Address Book records - repeat: back up your records, then
    • synchronize again without .Mac involved in any way for the time being
This next synchronization event will be treated as if it were the first, but I believe that you can get away without having the Mark/Space Contacts, Events and Tasks conduits overwrite your handheld. Be sure that you back up your Address Book and iCal files using the option in each application under the File menu to do this, before you synchronize.
It's also probably a good idea to HotSync your existing records using the Palm Backup conduit—configured to Backup using the Missing Sync for Palm OS—alone, before trying a conventional synchronization with the Mark/Space data conduits. That ought to leave you with backed up Palm records, and backed up Address Book and iCal records. If you experience a data 'disaster,' you can simply shrug your shoulders and restore all of your records.
[Did I mention the caution to back up everything?]

New to the board and Thanks for the expertise here! I have 3 macs and regularly sync - ONE problem. My PB G4 with OS 10.4.5 everything else syncs fine with my office computer EXCEPT ICal?! I get this message:
An inconsistency detected on .Mac for your Calendars data prevented your sync from completing! You should consider resetting .Mac from a computer with good data.
I've tried the suggestion several times - no luck. Any ideas?

  • ICal syncing issues with phone

    Hello,
I am relooking at my setup of iPhone and Macbook and realised that my iCal doesnt sync via iCloud, so thought I would get this set up.
Currently I sync via iTunes without any issues, iCal on my Macbook shows calendars "On My Mac" with matches the phone.
What I have done is switched on the iCloud option on both iPhone and Macbook for Calenders and then gone into iCal preferences and clicked the iCloud account associated with my apple ID and enabled the account, this then created new calenders called "iCloud" but not of my events are associated with these calenders. So to test I attempted to add an event to one of the iCloud events but as I completed the event and saved it it vanished from the calendar.
So I think basically I am asking what is the best way to get iCal to work with my Mcbook and my iPhone?
Thank you for any assistance offered.
Slighlty confused as I am typing this all my events have been duplicated and appearing as iCloud events, now thinking I just need to delete the "On My Mac" events?

From what your write, it is a little hard to tell, what exactly your problem is, though you may want to try the following, which helped me at time:
    step one:
export all of your calendars one by one, including the one with entries giving you problems
    step two:
erase all of your calendars and create a dummy character, check if syncing works with that one.
reimport the previously exported calendars one by one, redoing the syncing routines.
In the instances I had problems, I found that exporting and reimporting a calendar file usually did away with the problem
Also, at least on my machines, turning on the birthday link to address book, created some problems, so you might want to try without that feature too.
If you got everything working on one machine, another strategy can be to reinitiate syncing from that one, i.e. erase and reinstall the syncing process on the others. Just make sure you have an up to date back up of your entries.
