ICal sync on different Apple devices

After converting all my calendar entries since 1999 from my heavely used Palm to iCal, I have a rather full iCal system. Objective is to use my iCal calender from different Apple devices, including an iPhone 3GS, iPad, 2x Apple notebooks (Pro and Air), iMac, Mac Pro (all Mac's running under Lion 10.7.1).
Although initially OK, I experience continuous sync problems with iCal. Funny enough the different Mac systems react differently. One (the MacNotebook Pro) seems to accept most changes from other systems, the others signal "server access problems" with iCal, although they all work on the same network and only one iCal instance is active on one specific Mac. A simular problem happens on the iPhone, however without warning messages.
Can anyone shed any light on this problem area?

Welcome to the Apple community.
It's not clear why you need to have different Icloud accounts on each device, however this may not be relevant.
Music, TV shows, movies, books and apps are purchased through the iTunes store, your iTunes account is not the same as your iCloud account. So it may well be that you can maintain different Icloud accounts on your devices and still use the same iTunes account on all of them.
It may be the case, that if you tell us a little bit more about what you are trying to achieve, we may be able to help you further.

I have 3 different apple devices (iPod Touch, iPad and MacBook Pro) using the same Apple ID and would like to use FaceTime to call from one device to the other.  Do I need a different Apple ID for one of the devices in order to do that?

I found this on a related question in the Community:
Yes you can do it. I do it with 4 different devices all using the same Apple ID.
You need to associate different email addresses for each device in order to use those email addresses as the "contact at" email address. The reason the calls are dropping on you now is that what you are trying to do is like calling yourself on your own phone.
You can also create new iCloud accounts on each device simply to use for FaceTime, but I'm guessing that the users of the other two devices have their own email addresses which will make this work for you quite easily.
Take a look at this for more information.
The seems to go against what Gail said and the issue you raised about buying dup apps was my first concern.  If this other post is correct, how to I set a different "contact at" in the iPod Touch?

How do I get received messages from others to show up on my different Apple devices, such as my iPhone or iPad or iPod Touch, etc. I can see their reply on the device I was using at that moment but not on the other devices even iMessaging is turned on. Is there a way to refresh to incoming messages when one picks up one of their other Apple devices?

  • How do I enable my new macbook pro to become my default computer to sync all my apple devices-iphone 4, touch, ipod classic, nano?  My five year old dell's hard drive has only 2GB of space available and is currently the computer I use for all these device

I have a new macbook pro that I wish to sync all my apple devices--ipodclassic,nano,iphone4,touch-- that are currently synced with a 5 year old windows based computer with only 2GB of available hard drive space. How can I do this and maintain all of my info-contacts, songs, photos etc without losing this data< Thanks

you can either update to lion/ios5 and use the cloud to sync or you can plug in said devices and sync them with your MBP instead of your dell via a tethered usb connection.
also, sign into your itunes store account on your mac.

Can an apple gift card be shared among the different apple devices in the home?

If you mean an iTunes gift card then it is redeemed onto an iTunes account, not a device, so it can be used to buy content from the stores (iTunes, ibookstore, app store, Mac App store) where you use that account - it can't be split onto multiple accounts.

  • How to sync different photo libraries from different apple devices used with the same ID

Basically, I have two iphones (4 and 5s). Both iphones are synced in Itunes as regards apps, music and all documents but for photos.
Each iphone has different photos, being neither of both libraries synced to Itunes or my pc. The problem is that when I bought the Iphone 5s and I tried to sync also the photos from the iphone 4 to later have them synched to the brand new iphone 5s, Itunes was not able to just copy the photos from the iphone into the pc, but rather copying the pictures from the PC into the iphone 4, removing all existing photos.
Also, icloud could not be used because I have more than 5gbs in photos.
Now the problem is that i got a new Ipad, and I would like to got into my ipad all the pictures from my iphone 4 and iphone 5s. Again icloud is not enough due to the 5gb limit.
How could i proceeed to merge both libraries and have them successfully synced in all my devices?
Thank you very much in advance

Also, icloud could not be used because I have more than 5gbs in photos.
iCloud does not store your photos anyway. The photo streams are only a temporary storage to stream new photos between your devices. You could use the shared streams as long-term storage, but shared streams store the photos only at a reduced quality. The photo stream does not count agains your iCloud storage, so that would not matter. (see:  iCloud: iCloud Photo Sharing FAQ)
If you have iPhoto on your iPhones, you could transfer your photos from your iPhones to your PC using iTunes Photo Sharing, see this Help document:
    http://help.apple.com/iphoto/iphone/2.0/?handbuch#blnkee26bc1f
Save photos to your computer using iTunes
Connect your iOS device to your computer.
Tap a photo, album, event, web journal, or slideshow and tap > iTunes.
Tap Selected, or change the photos you want to save (if you are saving a slideshow skip to step 4):
Select different photos: Tap Choose Photos, tap one or more photos, and tap Next.
Select a range of photos: Tap Choose Photos, tap Range, tap the first and last photos in the range, and tap Next.
Select all the photos in an album or event: Tap All.
In iTunes, click the button for your device and click Apps at the top of the window.
Below File Sharing, select iPhoto (in Apps).
Select the Shared Photos folder under iPhoto Documents.
Click Save To and select the location on your computer where you want to save the items.
To view your photos, go to the Finder and look in the location you selected above.

  • ITunes sync with different Apple IDs

I've got iTunes on my Mac, with my personal Apple ID and content purchased with it, and sync a couple personal iOS devices with it.  All is good.
Now here's the complication.  My wife's business has a couple iPads that are currently synced with a Windows machine at her office.  I need an easier way to maintain them, though, and would like to sync them with my personal machine instead.  But they have content purchased with the Apple ID I set up for my wife's business...  is it possible to sync all these devices and their content with the same machine, despite having two different Apple IDs involved?  Or am I stuck using one machine for my personal stuff and a different machine for the business stuff?
    Thanks in advance!

    yes.
a single iTunes can be authorized for up to five Apple ID's. this should work:
    1) ensure iTunes is authorized for both Apple ID's
    2) connect the devices (one after the other) and right-click or control-click them in the iTunes Devices list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
    3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPads but, since you transferred the purchases in the previous step, your content will be in iTunes and you can re-populate the iPad with it.
once this is done, the iPads will be associated with your Mac's iTunes library.

  • Can you sync two different apple calendars? My husband and I want to better manage our family.

My husband and I wish to sync our apple calendars.  Is it possible to do so? We have 2 separate apple Id's.  Tried google but seems to sync from google to Iphone calendar but not the other way.  I much prefer apples calendar because of the functions available but my husband and I need to see one another's schedules.  Any help out there ? Can you sync two different users calendars via the calendar that comes with Apple products?

You each need an iCloud account and to sync your iCal calendars with iCloud. Then you can each share a calendar or calendars privately, so only available to the other, who would be able to edit it, or not, depending on your settings. Please see this page:

  • How do I sync calendars across Apple devices?

I have gone through the steps to use iCloud to sync calendars on my computers, iPhone, and iPad. However, not all calendar items on my iPhone show up on the Calendar on my iMac.  How can I ensure that events I add on one device are pushed to all other devices?  Thanks for any suggestions.

    Hey Walter Dalch,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are experiencing issues with iCloud calendar, in which events may not be pushed to all other devices. To isolate and troubleshoot these issues, it may be best to follow the steps outlined in this resource:

  • Updated ios8 on ipad: new calendar entries do not sync to other Apple devices through iCloud

After  downloading the latest ios8 update, the calendar function on my iPad no longer syncs as it should with my other Apple devices.  Specifically, it will receive calendar entries made on those other devices but I can not make an entry on my iPad show up on the other devices.  How do I fix this?
Related to this, some of the support community entries suggest logging out of iCloud and then logging back in.  But then I read that what I have to do to do that is to delete my account.  I don't want to do that.  I want to keep everything I have on my iPad- mail, calendar, notes.  I just want the sync function for new calendar entries to work.

Check Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Calendar (in the Calendars section) on your iPad and make sure it's set to an iCloud calendar.  If it isn't, make this change, then test calendars syncing again.
If your default calendar is set to and iCloud calendar, go to Settings>iCloud, turn off Calendars, choose Delete from My iPad when prompted (they will still be in iCloud), then turn Calendars back on.  Test your calendar and see if it syncs properly now.

  • Can I sync 2 different apple id's through iCloud

Is it possible to sync 2 iPhone 4S, each with a different apple id, using iCloud?  I want to sync my contacts and calendar, from outlook on my PC, with my iPhone and my wife's iPhone.  Each iPhone has a different apple id.

I too have this same question but based on a different reason. I updated to the new 5.1 software and my phone was compleltey wiped. Apparently something is wrong with my iCloud account and cannot retreive my back ups so while I'm on hold for 48 hours until the iCloud team can check my issue out, they have me signed in with a new iCloud account. I want to know when and if theycan retrieve my old back ups, if I will be able to merge the old back up (with a different Apple ID) with the new Apple ID? (To combine old data with new data) If not I do not want to create any files or use my phone until my old back up was found.

    Hi there!
Need help. I have an IPhone 4S , Iphone 5 and ipad mini. all my gadgets use to have different apple ID. I recently changed it all and just maintained 1 apple ID fo icloud. My Iphone 5 and ipad mini syncs well but my iPhone 4S does not. How do I sync all gadgets so I can just input reminders, notes and appointments to any gadget?

Works pretty good if you are only viewing one calendar. It does not show shared calendars or multiple calendars though.
