  • ICal Sync Issue

I have a Macbook Pro running OS Leopard.  I have IPhone 4S and IPAD2, both running latest IOS 5.  Any event I enter in ICAL in my Macbook shows up in my IOS devices.  However, what's in the calendars in my IOS devices will not sync to my Macbook.  I tried a solution I found at http://askville.amazon.com/iphone-ical-sync/AnswerViewer.do?requestId=15018816 but this did not do anything.  Appreciate any help anyone can provide.

I had the same issue. Resetting the sync history didn't fix it. I switched to syncing only a single, brand new calendar that wasn't published to an external server. This worked. . I then exported my main calendar and imported it to this new calendar. Everything still worked.
I then added in all my other calendars. All of these are subscribed calendars (read only), and I had about 7 of them plus the iCal generated Birthdays calendar. This worked too.
Finally, I switched iTunes to sync "All Calendars" and published the new main calendar I created in the first step to my home server. At this point things broke again...items created on the iPhone wouldn't sync. I removed "All Calendars" and manually selected every calendar in the list (so it's the same data now, but if I add a new calendar it won't automatically sync). This got things working again.
I'm not sure if that would have done it the first time, but it has fixed things now.

  • ICal syncing issues

Hi - can anyone help me....
I have a Macbook Pro at home, an iMac at my office, and an iPhone in my pocket. I cannot, for the life of me, get the calendars to sync properly. On my laptop I have appointments that do not appear on my iPhone (very frustrating) and sometimes things that I add to my iCal on the iMac don't appear on either the iPhone or the Macbook. Also the reminders are a nightmare. Because I often leave both computers running all the time if a reminder appears on one of the machines it remains there until I am beside that machine to be able to either delay it or cancel it. Therefore this means that further reminders on other devices don't come up and sometimes I miss things I supposed to do.
    Two more questions (sorry):
Is it possible to add postponement time options to the drop down that appears when a reminder comes up on the screen. The choices are somewhat limited, they go in nice stages up to two hours, then the next choice is one day! Sometimes I want a reminder in four or eight hours but to do that I need to just keep going in increments of two hours which occasionally leads to the problems referred to above.
Secondly, when a reminder comes up in the iPhone whilst it is being used (i.e. on a call) you have a choice of either close or open appointment. Does close mean that it just closes it from what you are doing or does that mean that it cancels the ongoing reminder? Similarly when you click the other option there seems to be no obvious way postpone the reminder for another few hours.......??
    Sorry to be so long-winded
    Darren

  • Sync issues, help!

My 5th gen 30 gb ipod has a sync issue. If I delete an itunes song, that is already on my ipod, from my hard drive and try to add any new songs to the ipod, the computer takes the deleted song off my ipod. Make sense? I can't find any default settings that address it.
I use an older sony vaio laptop with windows xp.
    Thanks.

If you are using autosync to manage your music on the iPod, the purpose of the autosync is to make the iPod content a mirror image of the content in your iTunes library. In other words, file deleted from main library will be deleted from the iPod on the next autosync. If you wish to stop this from happening, you will have to set your iPod preferences when the iPod is docked to "manually manage" your iPod content.

  • Iphone and ical syncing issues

My iphone 3GS seems to be creating double all of the ical entries? I have recently updated to the new mobileme calendar but this was happening just before also.
I enter ical events on both my mac book pro and my iphone. Ical does not double the events but the iphone does.
Anyone else had this issue or know what could be causing it??
    Cheers.

There's a whole "encyclopedia" in these forums about this problem. Suggest you search here for something like "iCal event duplication" and you should find a good bit of helpful information.
That said, I had similar problems with my iPhone 3G and then my iPhone 4, and it basically came down to MobileMe issues. My best advice would be to look first to see whether or not the calendar on your MBP agrees with the one on MobileMe - I'm betting you'll find issues there for which the phone is just a display medium. It will probably be necessary for you to reset your sync data and clean out either the iCal data or the data in MM Calendar.

  • Ical syncing issues with iphone/imac after lion OS update.

    Hi All,
I upgraded to lion and now have two issues with syncing my iphone and ipad to my imac.
First issue is that calander entries created on the iphone/ipad do not appear in the imac calander after syncing.
Second issue is that if I change an calander entry on my imac, the old entry and the new entry will show up on my iphone.  For example. I created an event and accidently clicked out of it before changing the name.  I then reopened that entry and changed the name and date. In my imac ical calender I only had one entry at the final date with the correct name.  When I synced my iphone and ipad however two events showed up on the iphone and ipad. The original "new event", and the event with the correct name and date.
The same thing happened when I had the same event occuring for 5 days,  I manual copied the one event five times on the one day and then dragged them to the correct days in ical on my imac.  When I synced my iphone I had both the 5 entries on the one day, as well as the entries on the days I had dragged them to.
In summary, now when I look at my calander in ical on my imac it looks great, but on my iphone it has all these extra entries. It is as though when it syncs it shows me all of my previous entries and changes, instead of the actual current calander.
Any thoughts how I can get the imac and iphone icals to look the same?
and in case you were wondering, I dont use Icloud.  I did set it up and turned it off after the duplicate entry problem that everyone has mentioned.  I dont have that duplicate entry issue anymore.
    Thanks
    Adrian

From what your write, it is a little hard to tell, what exactly your problem is, though you may want to try the following, which helped me at time:
    step one:
export all of your calendars one by one, including the one with entries giving you problems
    step two:
erase all of your calendars and create a dummy character, check if syncing works with that one.
reimport the previously exported calendars one by one, redoing the syncing routines.
In the instances I had problems, I found that exporting and reimporting a calendar file usually did away with the problem
Also, at least on my machines, turning on the birthday link to address book, created some problems, so you might want to try without that feature too.
If you got everything working on one machine, another strategy can be to reinitiate syncing from that one, i.e. erase and reinstall the syncing process on the others. Just make sure you have an up to date back up of your entries.

  • Ical sync issue between Iphone and Ipad

I seem to be having issues syncing events between my Iphone to my Ipad.  icloud is enabled on both and it appears that all the calendars are enabled for syncing.  Any help with this would be appreciated.

I'm having this issue as well.  I have tried the add new account as was mentioned in other posts (going through the Advanced settings and changing the server location), but it appears that I would be duplicating accounts, and "that is not supported".  I also am having issues with alerts not going to me, but to my husband (who has a google.com email).  When I check the Address Book to see what the main contact card is, it shows my information, yet I am not receiving alerts and my email is not an option to select.  When I changed my Apple Id, he received the confirmation email (as did I).  What do I need to do to: 1) get alerts to come to me and not my husband and 2) sync my iCal with macbook, iPhone, and iPad?  Thanks!

  • IPOD Nano : calendar/iCal sync issue

Since the change made on MobileMe calendar, I can't sync my "old" iPODs nano calendar with iCal anymore. (I have a 2nd generation iPOD Nano and a 4th generation one)
My guess is that the iCal datas are nomore on the Mac itself but somewhere in the MobileMe cloud and the iPOD nano can't find the datas anymore to update its calendar.
Is there a way to solve this issue?
Thanks a lot for any help or idea

Nobody has any idea on the way to sync my "old" iPOD nano calendar with iCAL on my Mac running MacOS X 10.6.8?

  • Apparent ical sync issue

Wondering if someone can explain 2, similar console messages I am repeatedly getting. They both seemingly reference my birthday calendar. Nevertheless, I cannot figure out what the sync-ing issue is so that I can fix the problem.

  • Calendar Sync issues - help!

I am not currently using the iCloud due to the duplicates issue.  So I hard sync my iPad with my MacBook Pro.  All of the information that I enter into my iPad won't transfer to my iCal!!
    Why?!

I have been having very similar issues to those described by Imola.  The calendar appears to try to load, and a few appointments may show up, but then they will all (or almost all) dissapear.  My company uses Exchange 2003.
Occassionally, deleting a large attachement has helped.  But not always.  Several times in the past, I have exported all my calendar entries as a .csv file, deleted all the calendar entries in Outlook, and then re-imported the .csv file.  While this always works to re-populate my calendar, it also strips functionality (like recurring appointments).
This is very frustrating, and results in me havinging to rely on my Blackberry while traveling, when I would like to just trust the data in the iPad.  A web search clearly shows that many people have this issue, but I have not yet seen any direct responses from Apple.  I hope this is addressed soon.

  • HT1296 iCal sync issue

Up until about 2 weeks ago, when I'd sync my iCal, both my phone and computer calendars would sync to the most recent events and the calendars would match up.  Now, when I sync, the info goes from the computer to the phone but not  from the phone to the computer.  In addition, the events that go from the computer to the phone, are not only the most recent event but also include other times that event might have been scheduled or other calendars.  For example, if I create an event on the computer  for a meeting at 11:00, then change the event to 1:00, both appointment times will sync to the phone.  I've been looking for ways to change sync settings but nothing seems to address this issue.  Help!

Why no replies to this, is anybody out there? Or is the community a waste of time?

  • TS4062 iCal sync issue

I've tried most of the fixes listed to get my iPhone 4 to sync with my iMac 10.6.8 and vice versa. So far nothing has worked. Any advice??

    Hi, IKH.
The following may be helpful in getting you calendars syncing correctly:
Sync Services: Advanced troubleshooting for contact and calendar syncing
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2481
Start with the first section that refers to Reset Sync History, then navigate to the section for your operating system Mac OS X 10.6.8.  Test syncing after each step.  If the issue persists see the section regarding syncing calendars:
    For issues with syncing calendars
First, you should back up your calendars: Back up your calendars by choosing File > Export > Calendar Archive in OS X Mountain Lion or File > Export > iCal Archive in OS X Lion or Mac OS X v10.6. In Mac OS X v10.5, you can back up your iCal data by selecting File > Back up iCal.

  • ICal syncing issues with phone

    Hello,
I am relooking at my setup of iPhone and Macbook and realised that my iCal doesnt sync via iCloud, so thought I would get this set up.
Currently I sync via iTunes without any issues, iCal on my Macbook shows calendars "On My Mac" with matches the phone.
What I have done is switched on the iCloud option on both iPhone and Macbook for Calenders and then gone into iCal preferences and clicked the iCloud account associated with my apple ID and enabled the account, this then created new calenders called "iCloud" but not of my events are associated with these calenders. So to test I attempted to add an event to one of the iCloud events but as I completed the event and saved it it vanished from the calendar.
So I think basically I am asking what is the best way to get iCal to work with my Mcbook and my iPhone?
Thank you for any assistance offered.
Slighlty confused as I am typing this all my events have been duplicated and appearing as iCloud events, now thinking I just need to delete the "On My Mac" events?
