ICal Syncing using iCloud.

Can you sync two iPads to iCal using iCloud.  It works on all my other devices except my second iPad.
I want to be able to add a calendar item to my iPad that I use and have it update my wifes iPad.  They are both signed in to iCloud with the same ID (Just as my MAC and my iPhone which update fine.)
Thanks....

If you are using the same Apple ID and the same iCloud account on all devices - then the calendar should sync across all devices. It would be no different than having an iPad, an iPhone and an iPad all using the same iCloud account - would it not?
Is the calendar turned on - on the other iPad? Settings>iCloud>Calendar>on. Is your wife looking at the correct calendar in the calnedar app? Tap the calendar button in the upper left corner of the app to view or hide your dfferent calendars.

  • Ical Sync using iCloud not Sync'oing with my iPad

My ical syncs fine over the iCloud - on my Macbook (both icloud on the web, and the iCal application). It syncs fine with my iPhone as well. It doesn'e sync with my iPad over the cloud... Any sugestions???

First check that all your settings are correct, that calendar syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the calendars you are using are in your 'iCloud' account and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud account (you can do this by clicking/tapping the calendar button in the top left corner of the application ), non iCloud calendars will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your calendars are in the iCloud account, you might try unchecking calendar syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling calendar syncing settings.

  • IOS 8.1 (iPad mini) and Yosemite (MacBook) don't sync using iCloud

iPad mini (new) using IOS 8.1 and MacBook late 2008 using Yosemite do not sync using iCloud.  iCloud created with both devices and iCal and Contacts selected but iCloud is empty in Finder.

iTunes is a mess. On the sidebar on the left there is a "On My Device" section. It shows everything *except* the apps. Above that there is a "settings" section. That's where the apps are. That's a "setting"?
The device handling needs a complete overhaul. There are many many people who have had an iPad or iPhone for some time, but do not own a Mac. Based on climbing Mac sales, clearly some of those people are deciding "I like this iPhone so much I'm going to get a Mac!" So they get one and run into this train wreck.
Even now, with the iPad selected, I go to the View menu, select View Options...,  and.....nothing. No window, no dialog, no indication of anything. Turns out that menu item is not applicable when a device is selected. Even with the original 128k Mac (my first Mac) they had this sorted out - dim the menu item when it's not applicable. Here we are 30 years later and they get it wrong.

Call Apple's online store's telesales agents: 1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753) or Customer Service and Sales Support at 1-800-676-2775. For Lion you'll get a redemptions code via e-mail and need to DL from the Mac Apple Store (requires SL 10.6.6+).

  • I can't import .ics meeting requests to iCal (currently using iCloud)

I can't import .ics meeting requests to iCal (currently using iCloud). Every time I drop it in or double click or import it it just doesn't show up. Is there a way round this or a setting I've not set up correctly?

    Greetings Gillian,
Try dragging one of these invites out of Mail to the desktop.  It should show up with a ".ics" extension as you indicate in your post.  Double-click this file and see if iCal launches and offers you the invite in the lower left corner (or anywhere else for that matter).
If nothing happens when you double-click the file from the desktop try the following:
__Create a new user account on the Mac: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/8235.html
__Put the .ics file you dragged to the desktop into Macintosh HD > Users > Shared
__Log out of the current user and login as the new user you created
__Go to Macintosh HD > Users > Shared in the new user and drag the .ics file to the desktop
__Double-click the file on the desktop and see if iCal opens and offers to add the invite
    Let us know the results.

  • How do I get my contacts to sync using iCloud for iPhone and iPad.

I can sync my pictures using icloud on my iPhone and my iPad however when I try to do the same for contacts having no luck. Also when I type a callander event on my iPad it comes up on my phone however when I type entry on iPad on calendar it does not come up on my phone.. Can anyone help.

Yes I agree with iamjeremie above. I am a newbie and had some trouble with this myself over last few days but now sorted.
You can also select existing cal entries, edit them and change calendar to correct one (iCloud cal in your case). Yes you need to set iCloud cal as default in settings. Also it may be worth disabling other unused or unwanted calendars in other accounts if you only want to use iCloud. Make sure to accept the prompt and save existing entries to device when disabling accounts so you do not loose or switch off your existing entries. Less confusing that way. Remember you can change entries to another cal in the future if you wish.
Keep it simple. I now have 2 calendars set up on iPhone and one on iPad.
Exchange cal for work. On exchange server at work and work stuff syncs with windows PC and server at work.
Hotmail cal for personal stuff that syncs with work iPhone, home PC and personal iPad.
I would have used iCloud for all but work iPhone and personal iPad are on separate iCloud accounts.
This was a work around and works great for me and enables me to enter synced personal cal entries on my work iPhone.

  • Need help with contact syncing using iCloud.  How do I do it?

I deleted LOTS of contacts on my iphone which syncs with icloud but now I want to sync my ipad using the icloud and do not want to have my ipad to override the corrected contact list.  How do I do that?
    Thanks. Pat

I did a back up as I too am paranoid.  I am wondering if there is a way to wipe my contacts from my iPad and then do the merge?
When I was deleting all the contacts from my iPhone I thought it was best to turn off icloud on my iPad.  In hindsight I think that was incorrect.
Thanks both of you for responding thus far.

  • ICal syncing with iCloud

Hello! My boss just updated his OS to Lion so that he couldsync his iCal with iCloud. He has about ten different calendars or categories, such as Staff, personal, workout, etc.… The problem is that only part of whathe has on iCal is showing up on iCloud. For instance in purple he has a studyblock that shows up, but the devotional block that is just before it does notshow up. Is there something that I can look at to make sure that all calendarevents show up on iCloud? Thanks for your help! David

I may have been misunderstood. In iCal there are different accounts (or groups) you can put calendars into, if you put a calendar into anything else than your iCloud account, it won't sync.
In my calendar above, anything I place in 'Private' won't sync with iCloud. (The second iCloud group is another iCloud account, that group syncs with iCloud, but not my iCloud - actually it's an iCloud account that a group of us share and can edit)

  • ICal Syncing Issues: iCloud & iMac to iPhone Not Working

I use iCal. I updated my iCal on my iMac and it updated to iCloud, but not my iPhone. When I open iCal on my iPhone, it cycles and cycles to update, but doesn't update. What can I do to get my iPhone iCal to sync?

I have the same issue. I have 2 iPhones (4 and 5) and an MacBook. When I enter an event in the MacBook, the event doesn't appear on either iPhone and conversely when I enter and event in the iPhones, it doesn't appear in the MacBook (and all devices are connected to internet via WiFi). It all used to work fine until about June 20th. The events are all entered on iCloud-synchronized calendars. When I send invites to events to myself or others, these are not received. Mail synchronization works fine between devices. As a test, I'll set up a Google calendar and see if this problem is related to iCloud.

  • How do I switch from syncing with iTunes to syncing using iCloud without getting duplicate Ono

      Hi
I have been syncing my IPad  to my mac using iTunes. I would like to start using the cloud to sync my
Contacts, calendar and a small amount of documents. I'm not so concerned with my pictures, video's or
music. they not as time sensitive and can stay with iTunes.
Do I need to do anything besides disabling those sync functions in iTunes and enable themin iCloud?
I don't want to get a duplicate contact list or calendar. Which are the two main things I need to keep more
    Current.
Would I be better off staying with iTunes?  I'm on the same wifi network most of the time.  My
reasoning behind changing sync methods is the fact that iTunes only syncs when I charge my IPad
and I need  A more current sync than once every day or so. (Especially for my calendar.)
I'm sure the info is buried out here somewhere but I have vision problems which make combing
through the vast amount of info out here a little difficult for me.
Any thoughts, advise or input would be appreciated.
       Ron

No help? I can't be the only one that backs up to iCloud and buys right from the iPad that then wants to sych with their desktop.
    BTW, it's not jailbroken.

  • HT4910 Safair Bookmark sync using iCloud, iMac

Support doc HT4910 use of backing up in iCloud. A question not answered. My iPad and iPhone have all data I wish to back up checked on them. My iMac does not have Safari  box checked in Sys Pref, iCloud. When I do select the box it wants to merge my Safai current BMs with iCloud. I did that and really messed things up. You see, I had spent a couple hours deleting old BMs and cleaning up iMac BMs. Lucky I salvaged cleaned up BMs from Time Machine.
So when one checks the Safari box in Sys Pres, iCloud, it asks "Do you want to merge these BMs with those on iCloud? Your information on this Mac will be uploaded and merged with the BMs stored in iCloud"
There is no place to say "No." I checked on the iCloud web page and can't even find Safari information.
    Sys 10.8.5

just found this solution, worked like a charm.
    1. From the Mac with the syncing problem, quit Safari.
    2. Go to the Library folder in your Home directory. In OS X 10.7 and 10.8, Apple keeps this folder hidden. One way to access it is to hold down the Option key while selecting the Finder’s Go menu. You’ll see a Library option listed; select it.
    3. From within the Library folder, locate the Safari folder. Open it.
    4. Drag the bookmarks.plist file out of the folder to your Desktop. Once you’re done with the remaining steps, and everything seems in order, you can trash the file.
    5. Relaunch Safari. Confirm that all your prior bookmarks are gone. Don’t panic. They’re still all in iCloud.
    6. Now follow the initial steps 1 through 5 above. This time, when you get to the Merge option, it’s okay to click the button. As there are no active bookmarks on the Mac at the moment, there is nothing to incorrectly merge.

  • ICal sync with iCloud question

I've noticed since I started syncing my address book and calendars between my iMac and iPad 2, when I go to iCal preferences and accounts⟶on the iMac, the only account showing is my iCloud account.  In address book under accounts, I see my iCloud account and On My Mac account.  Is it normal for iCal accounts to show only the iCloud account?
    Thanks⟶

When iCloud is set up, all the calendars are moved to the server, because iCloud cannot read 'On My Mac' calendars. It can't read 'On My Mac' Address Book items either, but for some reason they are left there.

  • Icloud works great on ipad (2) and iphone 5, but does not sync using icloud panel on PC

I have a iPad 2 and iPhone 5, which sync perfectly with iCloud.  Recently, my iCloud on my PC quit working and I've tried re-installing, etc, but nothing seems to work.  If I enter a new contact or meeting, it will not sync with my other devices.  Help?

If photostream is not working you can
Use Explorer to open the Photo Stream Folder.
The default location normally in C:\Users\Juz\Pictures\Photo Stream\My Photo Stream
I’ve changed mine to F:\Photo\Photo Stream Download
Right click the folder, and click Propeties
You can see the Read-Only has been checked.
So, you just need to Un-Check the Read Only, and click OK.
Your photos from iPhone / iPad will transfer to your PC automatically again.

  • Re: duplicate Birthdays in iCal since using iCloud

I don't know what to do...There's no way to "uncheck" the birthdays in your iCal that are now coming from both my contacts on my Mac AND on from iCloud.

The problem seems to be due to the birthday subscription using Address Book on the Mac.  If Address Book has been linked to iCloud (Contacts), then there are two copies of each contact in the Mac address book - one from iCloud and one on the Mac.  So each of these two copies gets a birthday entry in iCal on the Mac (though not on the Cloud, or even on ios devices).  You can verify this by looking at the Mac Address Book groups and see you have two address accounts.  One way to solve this is to get rid of the iCloud address book on the Mac, but that defeats the purpose of the iCloud.  If there was some way to merge the iCloud and Mac contact accounts on the Mac, the problem would go away.
So I think the route problem is in Address Book - because it's a nuisance to have duplicate names there (which problem doesn't exist on ios devices).  A partial solution would be to change iCal so that the birthday function can detect duplicates and not post both.
Any actual workarounds or solutions from Apple are welcomed.
After I wrote the above I looked at the "duplicate contacts" discussion (https://discussions.apple.com/message/16422473#16422473).  A couple of the responses there suggest manually deleting all the "On My Mac" addresses, leaving only the iCloud contacts.
