ICal Syncing w/iPod Issues

I am unable to get my iCalendars to appears on my iPod. Here's are my settings and what I did to troubleshoot the issue.
- iPod settings in iTunes - option checked to sync calendars
- .Mac enabled with Calendar sync'ing enabled
- latest software updates - now at 10.4.6
- did a fresh install of the entire operating system. Yes, I wiped my hard drive clean.
- restored the iPod to factory settings
- did a clean install of all songs, photos, contacts, etc. onto iPod using relevant iTunes settings
Summary:
Nothing has worked. Are others seeing this issue? With these issues be resolved in the upcoming 10.4.7. release?

I've played around with it quite a bit more now and I think I have an idea of why it may have had a problem before. I was changing events in iCal and then wanting them to show up on the iPod. The problem is that I was checking them almost immediately after ejecting. Sometimes the calendars wouldn't be there at all. If I went back out of Calendars on the iPod, waited a few seconds to a few minutes and then went back in nothing would be there still. Just now what I did differently is wait about 10 seconds or so before even going into the Calendars on my Nano. Now they show up every time. Looks to me like it is jus the processor in the iPod needs some time to process the calendar data before it can show it and if you don't give it that time it convinces itself that nothing is in there. This may not be useful to anyone else, but at least it is working for me so I am happy.

In OSX 10.4 sync your calendar is done from iTunes from anything I have read once you start using iTunes to sync your contacts and calendars you won't be able to use iSync to synchronize with your iPod.: Mac OS X 10.4: Use iTunes 4.8 or later for iPod syncing

  • ICal sync with iPod

For some reason, my iPod won't sync to my calendars in iCal. I go in iTunes, but it doesn't recognize my calendars. It still has some old calendars from years ago that I deleted, though.
I'm running iTunes v. 7.6.1 and iCal 2.0.5. I don't know which generation my iPod is, but it is an iPod photo from a few years ago. I think it was purchased in 2005, but I'm not sure anymore.
If you need any more information to be able to help me, just ask and let me know where to look for it.

    Okay
Here is something else I tried.
I went to my home directory/library/application support and threw away the iCal folder.
Opened iCal and my Home and Work Calendars were created.
I synced Entourage and another calendar was created called Entourage and all meetings came in.
I closed iCal, opened it again and ITS ALL GONE AGAIN.
All the calendars and the meetings.
    BUGGER!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Poll: Is your Address Book/iCal Sync to iPod Working?

Since the 2005-006 Security Update, synching Calendars and Contacts using iTunes 4.8 has been broken for me. It used to work fine, but as soon as the update was applied, it died. I don't know how many people are affected by this, so I don't know if my machine is futzed: let's find out.
    If you have:
    - iPod 4G
    - iTunes 4.8 or 4.9
    - Tiger 10.4.1
    - Security Update 2005-006
Can you sync your Calendars and Contacts to your iPod?
    Thanks!
    James

Thanks to those who replied to my Poll post. I decided something had gone wrong with the Security Update so did a re-install of Tiger preserving users and settings. It was a pretty painless process (except backing up the 120Gb+ of data 'Just In Case'!) - did the re-install, checked it worked - it did. Then did all the updates to the security Update - everything worked. Then did the Security Update - everything KEPT working! Good! So now I have a synched existence again. It's amazing how quickly you get to rely on stuff like this.
Next job is to re-build my partner's PeeCee after it got hit badly by some key-logger viruses... no such thing as an 'Archive and Install' there - it's reformat and 1 day of pure pain getting it back to normal. Give me a Mac any day...
    Thanks!!

  • ICal Syncing Wrong Times with Ipod Touch or iPhone - Everything 2 Hours Off

Every setting is uniform across all devices (timezones, etc) and yet iCal on my iPod touch or iPhone lists my scheduled events 2 hours earlier than what I inputed on my computer. The iCal calendar on Snow Leopard is correct, but my synced devices are not.
What gives? This is a HUUUGEEE issue for someone that uses their schedule book to get through each day. iCal is TOTALLY UNRELIABLE with this issue.

I have almost exactly the same problem. The ical on my macbook has the correct times, but on my ipod touch all events appear one hour earlier. Both devices are set to Geneva time, and the time displayed on them is the same.
This is really annoying as I am about to set off travelling, and was just going to take my touch for schedule - now I either have to pack my macbook or do everything the good old fashioned pen and paper way.
    Can anyone help?

  • Why does my ical on my ipod touch not sync with my ical on my desktop if I put in an event on the ipod calendar?

Why does my ical on my ipod touch not sync with my ical on my desktop imac ical?
It will if I put it in on my desktop though.
    Please help,

Probably because you did not tell the iPod to sync the calendar in iTunes.

  • ICal suddenly not syncing with iPod Touch

Up until I downloaded 2.0 for the iPod touch I haven't had any problems syncing iCal with my iPod touch. Now, nothing appears to be going back and forth. I have restored the software on my touch a couple of times; once I even had it restore the touch as if it was a new iPod (rather than restoring the backup). I've reduced the number of calendars. I've tried the "Advanced" feature at the bottom of the "Info" tab (i.e., "Replace Information on the iPod"). In reading other posts, I've noticed that others are having this problem with their new 3G iPhones. What is going on? Any solutions?

Same problem here and it's much worse after most recent update for iPod touch. I cannot get ANY entries to iPod Touch to update in iCal nor entries I put into iCal to update to Ipod Touch. Any help would be appreciated. I've tried everything I know to try. Thanks!

  • When I try to sync my iPod iCal with my MBP iCal via WiFi I get a message saying "Safari Downloading Safe Browsing Data" but I am connected to a local network and thus the syncing does not complete"

When I try to sync my iPod iCal with my MBP (OS 10.7) iCal via iTunes and WiFi I get a message saying "Safari Downloading Safe Browsing Data" but I am connected to a local network and thus the syncing does not complete because the downloading never completes because I am not connected to the internet.
Why does syncing iCal need Safari Safe Browsing Data?  How can I turn this off?

    See:
iTunes 10.5 and later: Troubleshooting iTunes Wi-Fi Syncing
"Safari Downloading Safe Browsing Data" is just some data that is synce with the computer. To turn off on the Mac go to System Preferencs>iCloud and turn off Safari

  • HT1386 I am trying to sync my iPod Touches calendar to my MacBook Pro calendar. I have been successful at syncing the events from my MacBook Pro's iCal to the iPod but haven't been able to sync the events from my iPod to my MacBook Pro. Is this possible?

I have an iPod touch that I often use to manage different events for work. I have been able to sync the events on my calendar from my MacBook Pro to the iPod touch successfully using wifi. What I really need to do though is sync my iPod calendar events to my MacBook Pro calendar. Is this possible? How do I set this up? It would be a huge help if I could transfer the events on my iPod calendar to my computers calendar. I currently have the wifi sync option on and have turned on the sync calendars option in iTunes. Thank you for your help!

For resetting the sync history on a Mac running Lion - 10.7.x if needed.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1627
If you see the Sync menu in the menu bar, skip to step 3:
If you do not see the Sync menu in your menu bar, skip to step 7.
Hold the Option key on your keyboard, then click the Sync menu in the menu bar:
if you see the Sync menu but you are unable to open it, skip to step 8.
    Choose Reset Sync Services.
    Click Reset Sync History.
Test for the original issue. If the issue persists, or if you are unable to open the Sync menu, follow these steps:
In the Finder, choose Utilities from the Go menu.
    Open Terminal.
In the Terminal window, type or paste the following command on a single line:
    /System/Library/Frameworks/SyncServices.framework/Versions/A/Resources/resetsync .pl full
    Press Return.
Quit Terminal after the operation has completed (when Terminal returns to the command prompt with a $).

  • IPod to iCal sync not working - FOLLOW UP

2 things...first sorry for the length of this post, I'm not sure how to say all of this shorter. Second, this is a follow up post to my earlier question, possibly to help others as well.
The problem I was having was that the iCal would sync events to the iPod, but not the other way around. After MANY restores/restarts, etc., it still wouldn't work. Off to the genius bar...tried many things, the last of which was connecting a store iPod to my Mac...still wouldn't sync. After I got home, I realized all the calendars from the store were now on my touch!
Next day, back to genius, was there for 3 hours with no resolution...tried everything, deleted iCal calendars, completely uninstalled, reinstalled, and rebuilt iTunes library, etc., store calendars still on iPod... Tried a few more things from home that night, no luck.
Back on Saturday for a replacement, which was given.
Back at home, restored last known good iCal calendars from Time Maching (God love time machine!)
Got home, store calendars not on this iPod, but the calendars themselves were in the list of possibles under "Info" tab in iTunes (don't know how else to say that.) Selected non-store calendars, and it synced only my stuff to the Touch, but still not from touch to iCal...
Tried a test account, and it worked! OK, so what's the difference between test account and mine? .Mac... For some reason, I tried to turn off .Mac syncing as a test, and it worked fine (the iCal/iPod thing)...replaced all .Mac info with stuff from the computer, turned syncing back on...bad calendars, etc. back, and iPod to iCal sync gone!
Long and short of it, I've killed my .Mac syncing and it works fine! The store calendars are no longer in the list on the "Info" tab, and everything else looks fine.
*If you can't get your iPod to sync with iCal, try killing your .Mac syncing and resetting sync preferences via iSync* (Applications/iSync then Apple+, for preferences).
I have no idea why this would have remained a problem since I replaced all .Mac info with stuff from my comp., but it was.
If you have any ideas why, I'd love to hear them. Thanks to all who offered suggestions to repair it the first time...

It was definitely worth a try, but it didn't work for my iPod touch.
What did work however was deleting BIRTHDAYS from my iCal (in Preferences / General). It's not the first time that Birthdays have caused me grief (ever since 10.5, .Mac Sync regularly gets its knickers in a twist over them) so I now just create a manual diary entry of my mum's birthday! It's a small price to pay for getting iPod and iCal to synch finally.

  • Ical syncing issues with iphone/imac after lion OS update.

    Hi All,
I upgraded to lion and now have two issues with syncing my iphone and ipad to my imac.
First issue is that calander entries created on the iphone/ipad do not appear in the imac calander after syncing.
Second issue is that if I change an calander entry on my imac, the old entry and the new entry will show up on my iphone.  For example. I created an event and accidently clicked out of it before changing the name.  I then reopened that entry and changed the name and date. In my imac ical calender I only had one entry at the final date with the correct name.  When I synced my iphone and ipad however two events showed up on the iphone and ipad. The original "new event", and the event with the correct name and date.
The same thing happened when I had the same event occuring for 5 days,  I manual copied the one event five times on the one day and then dragged them to the correct days in ical on my imac.  When I synced my iphone I had both the 5 entries on the one day, as well as the entries on the days I had dragged them to.
In summary, now when I look at my calander in ical on my imac it looks great, but on my iphone it has all these extra entries. It is as though when it syncs it shows me all of my previous entries and changes, instead of the actual current calander.
Any thoughts how I can get the imac and iphone icals to look the same?
and in case you were wondering, I dont use Icloud.  I did set it up and turned it off after the duplicate entry problem that everyone has mentioned.  I dont have that duplicate entry issue anymore.
    Thanks
    Adrian

From what your write, it is a little hard to tell, what exactly your problem is, though you may want to try the following, which helped me at time:
    step one:
export all of your calendars one by one, including the one with entries giving you problems
    step two:
erase all of your calendars and create a dummy character, check if syncing works with that one.
reimport the previously exported calendars one by one, redoing the syncing routines.
In the instances I had problems, I found that exporting and reimporting a calendar file usually did away with the problem
Also, at least on my machines, turning on the birthday link to address book, created some problems, so you might want to try without that feature too.
If you got everything working on one machine, another strategy can be to reinitiate syncing from that one, i.e. erase and reinstall the syncing process on the others. Just make sure you have an up to date back up of your entries.

  • HT1386 Syncing iTunes with iPod issues...

When I sync my iPod touch with iTunes it does not organize my music correctly. For example under one artist only one album will be shown when actually I have three in iTunes. But when I look under the albums category they all appear. How can I fix this?

There aren't any issues with the new iTunes. You need the most recent iTunes to sync your iPod

It sounds as if your account has been compromised. I would recommend logging into those accounts from your computer and their websites and changing your password.
