ICal Tasks to be persistent till complete

I've just converted from five years of Palm T5 usage to the iPhone.
I want my tasks to alarm for me at the time of day I put them at and I want them to be persistent till i check them off or move them into the future. I want it like the Palm where I could create an event in the calendar and have it alarm till I clear it or move it.
Have you a software recommendation that would give me that on the iPhone? The simpler and less feature full the better.
I've tried Mark Space Missing Sync including Fliq Notes and Fliq tasks
I've tried 2Do.
None are doing this that I can tell.
All I need is iPhone to simply keep allarming a task at me an not be acknowledged by "slide-to-unlock" when the alarm comes up but to keep bugging me till I clear it.
Also the various syncs seem to work sometimes partially, sometimes not at all and sometimes fully.
Very flaky sync routines

Perhaps it is "Events" I should be asking to be persistent until cleared or moved into the future?

I am trying to assign one request as a sub requests to different user. Now, Once all this sub requests complete then only user of main request should allow to action on task. Let me try to explain scenario from business point of view.
Suppose, an employee is joining an organization. Now, HR is sending the request to different departments to collect the information. First day HR has send request to Finance & HR department, next day again HR has sent request to travel department & resource department. Now, till all this department responds to HR's query. HR should not allow to complete the current task from HR has sent the requests to all department.
Please note that HR can send the request to all department at the same time or by different time interval.
I tried to implement the scenario using the event subprocess which is message based & correlation has been set between the main process & event subprocess. But the problem is User is able to take action on the current task even if the subprocesses in running state. I want user should get message that "subprocess task is in running state you can not take action. subprocess task should complete first."

ICal Tasks/To Do Items Keep Disappearing, plus search function doesn't work

Ever since I upgraded my Mobile Me calendars about two or three weeks ago, which as I understand makes my calendars now LIVE on the Mobile Me cloud instead of directly on my computers, I have had nothing but trouble with iCal. I use Bento with iCal for my project management system — I use the iCal Tasks for my basic information, and I added extra fields in Bento for other details I like to track. Anyway, the upgrade completely unhinged where those two came together so that the basic information that Bento was getting from iCal no longer matched with the extra details.
But that's no longer my problem. I fixed that easily by completely changing the way I track things now — I did away with the extra fields and decided to have Bento work directly and only with the information in my iCal app.
Still, another problem came up, the one I need an answer to. New tasks I entered through Bento, wouldn't KEEP on iCal. They'd show up momentarily, but a day or two later, they would be gone.
I thought I fixed it a few days ago when I discovered that Time Zone Support wasn't checked on iCal. I made sure it was checked on all my computers AND on Mobile Me because I suspected that Tasks were disappearing every time my computers synced with Mobile Me. It seemed to work fine after making sure everything supported time zones. I even synced a few times, just to test it, checked all calendars at all places, and whatever Tasks or To Do Items I added from within Bento appeared to sync fine, appear at all the proper places, at all instances of the calendars, AND stay put.
BUT I just discovered tonight, that the new Tasks I entered in the last week for one of my calendars have ONCE AGAIN disappeared. For some reason, though, the new tasks I entered for another one of my calendars managed to stay put. I have no idea why one calendar was affected and another wasn't.
The point is, I can't for the life of me figure out why my newly entered Tasks keep disappearing. Is it an iCal thing? Is it Mobile Me? Is it because I am entering the tasks/to do items from within Bento? What?
And the icing on the cake? The search function on the iCal app on one of my computers no longer works. I will search for a task/to do item that I KNOW is there and can actually see on the side bar, but it will not pop up in the search results. I searched online about how to fix that, but none of the fixes work — many of them, I believe, are outdated and so can't work in my case.
Does anyone have any ideas how I can fix these issues?

glass (Atleast in windows) is just for decor showing
you its a search field, its not an actual button like
it would be in most Microsoft/Windows apps

How can I Print the next 4 or 5 weeks from iCal in month view (not simply complete months).
I'd like to print the next (up an coming) weeks of my calendar from iCal in month view - The idea is to get this information on 1 sheet of A4.. just like the month view.. but as far as i can see the month view only gives you current or next complete months.. The ONLY time this give me the view I want is in the first week of any given month.. the rest of the month part of the print is in the past and not enough of the up and coming weeks are shown?
I can believe the app won't allow you to do this .. am I missing an easy fix.. or has it been rectified in Yosemite .. I'm using mavericks 10.9.5.

Error submitting tasks: Operation could not be completed within the specified time

I've created a Batch Application and I'm having an issue running a job. Its suppose to synchronize 2 azure blob containers.
In my JobSplitter, I compare 2 azure blob containers and find the files in the first container that need to be copied over to the second one. Just figuring out which files to copy over can take about 5 to 6 minutes the first time this is run depending
on the number of files that need to get copied over.
Once we have the files that need to be copied, we group them into sets and create a task for each set.
The exe that the TaskProcessor runs doesn't do anything just yet. All it does is write the arguments sent to it into a file. Nothing major.
On the last run, about 900 tasks were created. Four of the tasks completed successfully. I can download the output files for them just fine. The next 4 tasks failed with an error.
Looking in the JobLogs, I see this:
The job orchestrator finished
Failed to process job ac8dd4a3-d882-4ec1-847d-48844fa3e1f4: Error submitting tasks: Operation could not be completed
within the specified time. RequestId:27eab612-c8ce-4e4b-8dfb-00e7024c71ec Time:2015-01-29T00:37:03.5943898Z
Has anyone seen this before?

This error is usually a transient error, typically related to an internal storage timeout. We're working on a fix for it.
In the meantime, if you go into the Batch Apps portal, select the failed job and click Reprocess in the command bar, Batch Apps should re-run the failed tasks and the not-run tasks. (Note that the tasks that already succeeded will not be re-run, and
we will not re-run the job splitter to create new tasks.)
Please let us know if you continue to see this problem or if reprocessing the job doesn't work for you.

Automatic status "Completed" on tasks where phase has been completed

I am wondering if there is any way (apart from developing a custom workflow) of setting all tasks below a phase as completed when the phase is completed.

Hi Neil,
Implement the BAdI DPR_EVENTS and use Phase Completed as filter value.
In this implementation, get all the tasks that belong to that phase and set the status of these tasks to completed.
Commit the changes.

HT1212 i forgot password to unlock my iphone 4s. do i have to wait till completely disabled to restore?

i keep trying to sync it but it keeps tellng me to enter password. i disabled it a couple time, do i hae to wait till completely disabled?

Restore from backup on the last computer you synced with, while the passcode was in place. If you have not synced, while the passcode was in place, then you'll have to force the phone into recovery mode & restore it:
Turn your phone off, then:
Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, iTunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still dont see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new.

Anyone know how to find my iCal task lists?

I just discovered that 3 Signals is on the ball again and has TaDa List worining with the iPhone.
Doesn't give all the functionality I need so I will be waiting for the update from apple, but in the meantime this is a big plus to be able to use the TaDa Lists.

Ugh. Why in the name of all that is holy is it such a problem for Apple to get iCal tasks to sync with iPhone and iPad??!!

ICal task interface is inadequate

I just purchased a MacBook and upgraded to Snow Leopard then Lion.
I plan on migrating completely to Mac from PC after the release of iCloud.
However, I have one misgiving:
The listng of Tasks is inadequate in iCal.
I hope this isn't purposeful to let developers make more apps.
A compleletly seemless inegration with no supplementary frills
would be better for Apple.
While I am new to GTD, I really dislike that iPhone/iPad Calendar
don't have Tasks. Even iCal on MobileMe has Tasks only as an afterthought.
There is no integration. Apple really needs to improve the Task functions on iCal et al.
While I am willing to migrate based on Apples other features and virtues,
I am sure others will hesiatate b/c of this. While individual apps aren't expensive,
learning to use yet another app on top of Apple's impressive suite may prove daunting
for new and run-of-the-mill endusers. Integration with other apps while generally good
add another factor to consider.
If Apple adds this piece to their operating suite for Mobile Me or iCloud,
I am sure many more people will convert to Apple and begin to consider it.
Please fix this

This drives me nuts! I certainly hope Apple works on this bug soon.
This is apparently what's happening:
When your focus is on a pane other than the to do list, you can still scroll the to do list, e.g., by dragging in the scroll bar or, as I usually do, with two fingers on the Trackpad. Focus remains unchanged.
When you click on an item in the to do list, before the click is registered by the to do list pane, the pane automatically scrolls up to the top of the to do list. You've lost your place in the list, and some other item ends up selected (apparently random but exactly where you clicked if you had been looking at the top of your list).
It's almost as though the to do list pane resets its scrolling position every time it gains focus. Ugh!!
I find it hard to believe this would be hard to fix. The main calendar window doesn't "forget" its scrolled position when it gains focus, after all.
I'm off to go find a way to send this info to Apple more directly...

Questions from an Entourage user on iCal - tasks, printing events, reminder

I'm shifting from Entourage to iCal (connecting to an Exchange 2007 server at work). I've got a few problems that I'm hoping someone can help me with:
1) how do I print a single event? In Entourage, I select the event, and right-clicking (or using the menu options) enables me to print it. Now I can only figure out how to print a whole day or month. Surely I can print the contents of 1 event?
2) linked to the above: I store a lot of info in each event (text describing what will be happening etc.). Is it possible to view and edit this info in a window of reasonable size? In Entourage, double-clicking each event gives me a scale-able window in which I can see and edit the text; in iCal, it gives me a tiny window with each line wrapped like crazy.
3) My Entourage is (correctly) telling me that about a dozen appointments are due or past-due. iCal is not giving me any such reminders, although new ones I create do go off with an alarm like they're supposed to. What's going on - why isn't the little "iCal alarm" window popping up for all the ones I'm late on?
4) task view: I have a bunch of tasks on the Exchange server. What's the right way to get a list of them and edit their content in iCal?

Re: Categories - I too miss that and I've 'solved' it two different ways. First, I set up groups which helps me find someone who I know within a certain context. ie, I know I'm looking for John who is a student. I look in the student group for all the Johns. Second, I use the note entry to jot down things I want to remember about the person.

I have two mac computers, one at work and one at home, and an iphone. I also have an gmail account I use daily..so the question is how can I set it up so I can follow my calender iCal at home and work computer and on the iphone and gmail, everything being synced and also sync tasks?

The process works ok in Tiger. You could try posting this in the Mac OS X v10.3 & earlier forum to see if anyone can help you there.
I'm sure registering will make no difference.

Workflow Task not able to be completed due to "System Account" in Requested By field not resolving.

I have a workflow firing on create and update in a list. The list is a calendar that is email enabled. The tasks are assigned with the requested by set to be the System Account, which shows underlined in red when trying to complete the workflow task. This
is a sharepoint designer 2010 workflow using the assing approval task action. I was hoping to see a variable used when assigning the task to allow changing that from the system account to the created by on the original list, which I am able to assign for the
approval workflow starting notification since that also was trying to go to the system account.
Here is the task as it looks which will not allow completion even by site collection administrator.
If the workflow starts with direct entry in the list, all works fine. This is related to the system account creating the initial item, but was hoping to override that during the task process.
Anyone else run into this and have solution?

I can’t reproduce your issue, but you can change the requested by on the task form to “created by” column. Go to SharePoint
designer, open the workflow, under forms section, click task type form workname.xsn to open it in InfoPath form, then you can change the requested by to created by.

Guided Procedure Tasks don´t appear in "completed tasks"

Hello! I´ve integrated guided procedures into the UWL. It works fine, except that once i complete a task depending on guided procedures, i click in "completed tasks" and it is empty.
I´ve noticed that the only kind of tasks that appear in "completed tasks" are the ones which are related to Collaboration.
Is there a way i can show the completed tasks related to Guided Procedures or R/3 ?

How to edit/modify workflow task after it has been completed?

My workflow spawns a couple tasks and once those tasks are completed, they become non-modifiable. If the user made a mistake by entering wrong details while completing the task and would like to change it later, he cannot do so once he hits the complete
button. This is happening in SharePoint 2010.
We were using SharePoint 2007 earlier when this wasn't the case. The tasks could be modified even after they were completed. I would like to have the same behavior in 2010 too. Please suggest how can I do it? There should be some task settings to enable
modification but I just can't find them.
