ICal Tasks/To Do Items Keep Disappearing, plus search function doesn't work

Ever since I upgraded my Mobile Me calendars about two or three weeks ago, which as I understand makes my calendars now LIVE on the Mobile Me cloud instead of directly on my computers, I have had nothing but trouble with iCal. I use Bento with iCal for my project management system — I use the iCal Tasks for my basic information, and I added extra fields in Bento for other details I like to track. Anyway, the upgrade completely unhinged where those two came together so that the basic information that Bento was getting from iCal no longer matched with the extra details.
But that's no longer my problem. I fixed that easily by completely changing the way I track things now — I did away with the extra fields and decided to have Bento work directly and only with the information in my iCal app.
Still, another problem came up, the one I need an answer to. New tasks I entered through Bento, wouldn't KEEP on iCal. They'd show up momentarily, but a day or two later, they would be gone.
I thought I fixed it a few days ago when I discovered that Time Zone Support wasn't checked on iCal. I made sure it was checked on all my computers AND on Mobile Me because I suspected that Tasks were disappearing every time my computers synced with Mobile Me. It seemed to work fine after making sure everything supported time zones. I even synced a few times, just to test it, checked all calendars at all places, and whatever Tasks or To Do Items I added from within Bento appeared to sync fine, appear at all the proper places, at all instances of the calendars, AND stay put.
BUT I just discovered tonight, that the new Tasks I entered in the last week for one of my calendars have ONCE AGAIN disappeared. For some reason, though, the new tasks I entered for another one of my calendars managed to stay put. I have no idea why one calendar was affected and another wasn't.
The point is, I can't for the life of me figure out why my newly entered Tasks keep disappearing. Is it an iCal thing? Is it Mobile Me? Is it because I am entering the tasks/to do items from within Bento? What?
And the icing on the cake? The search function on the iCal app on one of my computers no longer works. I will search for a task/to do item that I KNOW is there and can actually see on the side bar, but it will not pop up in the search results. I searched online about how to fix that, but none of the fixes work — many of them, I believe, are outdated and so can't work in my case.
Does anyone have any ideas how I can fix these issues?

searching for, you hit enter on the keyboard. The mag
glass (Atleast in windows) is just for decor showing
you its a search field, its not an actual button like
it would be in most Microsoft/Windows apps

There are several ways
     - Selecting the event and hitting the "delete" key on your keyboard (as Wayne Contello said)
     - Selecting the event and opening the "edit" dropdown menubar item, and then selecting "delete"
     - Selecting the event and right clicking, then selecting "cut" (this option puts the event on your clipboard)

drag the other clip 'over' the main clip
the 2nd clip has to be selected/yellow border...
then you're prompted in the Inspector with the several options...

ICal search suddenly doesn't work

iCal search function suddenly stopped working today on the MacPro. Any ideas? It still works on my late 2008 MacBook Pro, also running Leopard, so I'm perplexed.

I have a reliable work around that I found by accident.
- make sure iCal is stopped (command-Q)
- start iCal
- change to a different day
- Today button should be enabled
- close iCal (red x)
- click iCal from the dock
- Today button stays enabled from this point on

The drop-down list that appears when typing in the Google search bar doesn't work. Clicking on an item on that list does nothing. This very useful feature is broken.

I just installed FireFox 4. In previous versions typing in the Google search box automatically created a drop-down list of items. One could click on an item on the list and proceed to a Google results page. In FireFox 4, the list appears but clicking on an item on the drop-down menu does nothing. It's broken and it was a very useful feature in previous versions.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

Copy items to the iPhoto library selection doesn't work?

Hello,
I'm new to OS X, and new to Macs in general, so this may be a n00b question . . .
In iPhoto '11 (9.5, 902.7), I have cleared the "Copy items to the iPhoto library" entry in Preferences, then imported all my photos. However, the size of the iPhoto Library file is still enormous (40 GB), and it's the same size as when I imported the photos with the checkbox enabled.
So does this checkbox function as designed and I'm just not doing it right?

1 unchecking this option is very strongly NOT recommended. Doing so builds up massive problems for the future. And it accomplishes nothing
2. Checking or unchecking itpt does nothing to the existing library. It only affects future imports
I strongly suggest that you start over with a new library leaving the copy preference checked

Cursor has changed to a plus sign and doesn't work properly

I recently plugged my Late 2012 MBP 13" into an Epson projector (using an Apple serial port converter) and my cursor changed from the normal shape to a '+' sign. Also, there is occasionally some horizontal lines on the screen about 1" (2cm) away from the plus sign. I wouldn't mind the shape except it's now very inaccurate and difficult to use. Does anyone know how to fix this type of issue? Appreciate any help you can offer.

Cleared everything, several time over several days, no change.
Still have not diagnosed the problem and I have made a lot of changes, including re-loading M.FireFox 4.0.1 with ATT Yahoo vers. 1.8
It sometimes appears that the sign-in times out, although I tried signing in for 2 weeks and also 1 day. ATT Yahoo has a sign-in seal one can setup and use. It is fine and works only that one day or until one signs out, than it is history.

If your library was working on your computer and then popped up empty all of a sudden then this might be what you need...
Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

If i turn my phone off for a while and turn it back on, I will have service for a couple of minutes. And then it says failure SIM or invalid SIM or no SIM. Then I have no service and can only use my phone with wifi making it no better than a ipod

Could be a bad SIM card or an iPhone hardware problem.
Try a new SIM card first. You can get a new SIM card at an ATT retail store. After explaining the problem, there should be no charge for the new SIM card.
If no change after that, call AppleCare or make an appointment at an Apple Store if there is one nearby.

Problem Cursor disappears / Drag and Drop doesn't work

Three butterflies are supposed to be dragged in an object. My customized cursor is sort of a landing net to catch these butterflies.
For the cursor I have this code:

But when I'm clicking on a butterfly my cursor stops to move and stays on the position of the butterfly, which i'm dragging. After dropping it, there is no cursor at all so one doesn't know where the mouse is currently located.
Does someone know why this doesn't work? I'm working currently with a mousefollower, because at the moment this is the only way it works..

If I wanted to collect the caught butterflies in a certain target, for example a flowerpot, where the butterflies can't be removed after dragged in, is this more or less the code for it? I haven't tried it yet but I'm searching the internet for something like that and maybe it is the right thing? And is in this case "myTarget" the name of the picture which is used as the target? IPod touch 3rd gen spinning wheel plus home button doesn't work. How to fix?

I have an iPod touch 3rd gen that is stuck on the Apple logo and also has that spinning of wheel death thing. I am trying to enter into DFU mode but won't work due to the home button not working. Is there any other way I can fix this and make it boot back up regularly?

Itunes keeps freezing on search function

I can't search for any songs in my library. As soon as I punch in any letters in the search bar the whole thing freezes up. Eventually itunes crashes.
Is there any help for this or do I have to reinstall itunes? (not even sure how I woudl do that).
I have the latest version - and I have already rebooted my computer.
Needless to say, this makes itunes totally useless for me - I have a really big library and certainly don't want to scroll forever to find songs! Also this is a brand new thing. Had my Mac for a year and this is the first time this has happened.

Your library might be super huge. I would suggest clicking on the magnifying glass icon in the search field and deselecting "Search Entire Library."

Reminders app alert time keeps disappearing on iPhone 4s

I use my phone's Reminders app frequently and have started having problems with the "Remind me on a day" option. Today I noticed that whenever I set a time and date for a reminder alert, it disappears after a few moments, leaving just the text I entered but no alert time (ie, a reminder to start dinner at 5:00pm on Tuesday will show up properly on the reminders home screen for a few seconds, and then the alert time will disappear, leaving just "Start Dinner"). Since the alert times keep disappearing, none of my reminders actually work at the moment. I also have weekly reminders that I've used for over a year but starting today they now show up as "(null), weekly" underneath the original reminder text.
I exited the app, restarted my phone and then did a hard reset, but nothing has changed the way the app is behaving. Creating a reminder through Siri just gives me the same problem. I haven't done anything out of the ordinary with my phone so I'm not sure why it's not working properly. Thanks for any help you can give!

What part are you talking about setting up? The 2-step verification I mentioned for that email or the reminder list? The 2-step verification you need to set up before anything. It's just another way of protecting yourself from idiots. You'd get a code from your phone that helps you sign in on PC. But this stupid "Reminder" stuff is killing me. I had to do a total wipe of my phone and make it like a brand new phone again with nothing on it. And even after all that when I went to test a new reminder I'd put in...it did the same thing just shut itself off. Didn't say "null" tho just kept shutting itself off. I even made a new list not tied to my yahoo...did the same thing. So after all that I just went back in and restored my phone to the way I originally had it. I figured it wasn't anything on my phone and it had to be something with Apple itself and I wasn't going to spend hours just trying to remember what I had on here so that's why I just restored to the backup I had prior all this. I did call the guy I'm working with over at Apple and left a message that it didn't work again and I put phone back the way I had it. But I'm gonna try all this up on my PC to see if this works. Ugh this is just taking up my time and I've not yet heard back from the yahoo customer service guy I sent the pics too showing him these issues...typical. I just feel that with so many having this issue that they need to report it to Apple so they can fix it or at least look into it. They won't do much just because I say there's so many others. I think I'm gonna try to copy that list from my yahoo and sync it with iCloud and see if that works and if it does then it was yahoo all along. Besides when I make that list with iCloud it won't be lost or anything ya know. Just seems like I'm having too many problems with yahoo stuff. I do have a gmail but don't use it like yahoo because they spy on you and share things etc. but outlook is synced to Apple so might be worth a shot to start using them. I do t know anymore I'm at a lost
