Ical thru isync to two computers what happens after the initial reset

Question

i have difficulty syncing my two computers.
i assumed that i can post changes to either computer and it will pass thru isync and update the other computer
this isn't happening
i am further frustrated by the inability to look at the calendar on .mac to see if the overwritten data even happened
do i understand the process correctly ie either computer input and update the other one. is there some setting after a reset that goes back to this back and forth exchange

Your assumptions are partially correct, and partially incorrect. To understand how the Sync Services framework operates, take a look at this document:

iSync is actually not involved in the process you describe at all: it is .Mac Sync that is responsible for synchronizing six data types—bookmarks, calendars, contacts, keychains, mail, and mail rules, signatures and smart mailboxes—with your .Mac account. A forum for .Mac Sync can be found here:

iSync synchronizes only contact, calendaring and tasks data with supported mobile handsets, Palm devices, iCal and the Address Book.
Your synchronized calendaring data is stored on .Mac and passed through it to other synchronized computers, but cannot be accessed from it. You can publish your calendars as read only objects using .Mac and display them in a browser window, but you cannot modify published calendars, and this process is not the same as synchronization.
To reset the framework, leave your sync clients registered and all of the data stored on them intact, you launch iSync, open the Preferences… dialog, press the Reset Sync History… button and follow the instructions which appear.
To reset sync data—a very different process which involves moving your data from a computer to .Mac, or from .Mac to a computer, and which triggers a subsequent synchronization to other synchronized computers—you launch the System Preferences application, select the .Mac pane and press the Advanced tab. By pressing the Reset Sync Data… button in the lower left corner of the window after your client list loads, you can process the reset. If you intend to replace the data stored on .Mac with that stored on a specific computer, you must initiate this process from that computer. This will also result in a transfer of the changed record set from .Mac to any other synchronized computers the next time one of them is involved in an event.
If you intend to replace the information on your computer with a copy of the records stored on .Mac, you should generally initiate that process from the computer you intend to overwrite. You can overwrite all or as many active data types as you wish, or limit it to one type—Calendars, for example—at a time.
