Ical time zone problem

I travel between the east and west coast frequently, carrying my iphone and ibook. I schedule appointments at the time they will be wherever it is I am, without thinking about where I am when I am scheduling them. I want my ical on both devices to keep appointments exactly as I set them, but it keeps changing on one or the other..and now my ical on my laptop is showing west coast at month glance and east coast if I click on the individual appointment! help!

Instead of setting it to bejing time zone, Go to settings, general, date and time, turn off set automatically, then tap set date and time and do it manually.

  • ICal time zone problems with 10.10

I travel all over the world so I use multiple time zones for iCal and until Yosemite I never had any problems.  Now iCal for some reason will automatically select the time zone at the top of the list of time zones regardless of my current location.  Biggest problem is that iCloud is now storing that same info so that when I enter an event on my iPhone 5s (8.3) it does not accept the phones current location, it accepts whatever time zone is at the top of the list from iCal on my MBP.  Because the iCal on the iPhone does not allow a selection of time zones I then have to go into iCal on the MPB to change or verify what time zone the phone set.
I never ever had any problems in the past until Yosemite.  Know I can delete my iCal plist, but that will remove "ALL" time info on everything.
Does anyone know if there is a way to remove the time zone list without effecting current events?
The other problem I have is that as countries around the world are changing from standard time to daylight time or the other way around.  iCal is not allowing me to set new events days, weeks or months in advance to the time zone at that time.  So that I no longer can tell if I have selected say Standard Eastern Australian Time or Daylight Eastern Australian Time ... that goes for nearly every county.

Have the same with a German timezone. Both computers are in German time, published calendar is in US time. Looks like the calendar that you access online is using the US server time as reference.

  • ICal time zone problems in Leopard

I cannot get ICal to display events in my current computer time zone (Chicago). Does not matter if time zone support is on or off, it always displays events two hrs behind me (Pacific time). If I change my computer time zone, ICal adjusts accordingly. Any suggestions?

  • ICal time zone support

Forgive me if this is repetitive. I do not regularly read these discussion groups. I've just noticed a little problem with iCal. We recently moved to another state and another time zone, specifically, from the Central to the Eastern time zone. Time Zone Support has always been clicked "on" in our iCal. Our iMac clock and time zone are set properly, to the Eastern time zone. I just noticed today that the iCal time zone on all my "events" is selected as "Central U.S." But they show up at all the correct times (i.e., Eastern U.S.) on iCal. Is this what Time Zone Support is supposed to do? Convert all the events to the time zone in which you are located? To add to my confusion, I just got an iPhone 3G, it's set to Eastern Time, and all the events synced from my at-home iCal show up one hour earlier than they should on the iPhone iCal. Any suggestions? Thank you!

    suz..
I just did the following and it seemed to correct the issue:
    - made sure my .me and iCal apps were set to the same timezone
    - turned off timezone support, closed iCal, turned timezone support back on
    - made sure i was not using 'floating timezone'
that seemed to clear things up.

  • Ical time zone is wrong

i am syncing with google calendar on 1 MAC desktop, 1 ipad, 1 macbook pro, 2 iphones, 3 PC computers running windows. everything was working fine but recently ical on the mac desktop is wrong. the events time zone is shown as "central africa time" where all the other are in "egypt cairo" time zone. when i click on any event and edit its time zone to cairo, few seconds to reload and then goes back again on ical to "central africa time". where is the problem here. i cannot change ical time zone from "central africa time" to "cairo egypt". there is no feature for that. i turned on the time zone in ical and on the top right the time zone is "cairo egypt" but all the events are on "central africa time". it is correct on google but on ical is not, and i do not know why.

  • ICal time zone reverting back

I have just arrived in a new country, but when I look for that place's time zone and select it, the next time I open the iCal time zone, it has reverted back to a previous one.
Even more strangely, when I change my time zone in the top right corner of iCal to Greenwich Mean Time, all my entires move suddenly to irrelevant times that are not in line with the chosen time zone...
How do I categorically select and save the time zone once and for al, so I don't have to worry about this strange behavior (which is probably caused by me doing something wrong)?
I would appreciate any help ...

  • KOrganizer time zone problem

I'm having this weird time zone problem with the KOrganizer Calendar. I'm in Chile and the goverment extended the daylight saving time for a couple of months (until May 7). I already installed the latest tzdata 2011e-1 package (from testing) which contains the updated rules for America/Santiago.
Now if I create an event in Calendar, let's say tomorrow April 8 starting at 10:00 AM, everything is fine. But if I restart the application the event is shifted by one hour (11:00 AM) as if KOrganizer was using an outdated time zone database. When I click on the event to bring up the edit dialog the right time reappears! If I save the event the time is corrected and everything is fine again unless I restart the app.
Has anyone had a similar problem? The only thing I can guess why this is happening is that KDE somehow uses more than one source for the time zone info.

There are a couple of ways you could do it.
    Way 1:
Search for a file by name 'glogin.sql' on your client work station and add the following statement
alter session set nls_date_format = 'YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI:SS';Make sure you save the file. This change will apply to all users who will log into the database using SQL*PLUS from your machine.
    Way 2:
Create a shortcut and place it some where (for example on the 'DESKTOP').
Right click on the short cut and choose properties.
Change the text corresponding to the 'Start in' box to reflect the current location of the shortcut.
Create a file by name 'login.sql' and place it in the same folder as the shortcut.
Edit the file and add the following line.
alter session set nls_date_format = 'YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI:SS';Make sure that you save the file.
When you double click the shortcut to start SQL*Plus and login, the script 'login.sql' is executed.

  • ICal time zone support problem

my problem is not that it goes out of sync, but according to the iCal help, there is supposed to be a "pop-up menu in the upper right corner of the iCal window." I have no idea what that means, because i don't see a thing.
I am still on tiger, btw.
    thanx!

    caitanya,
In order for you to display that selection open iCal>Preferences...>Advanced and choose [✓] Turn on time zone support.

  • Why is iCal Time Zone Support hidden?

Last week my wife sent me an iCal appointment for 2pm but I received it as 11am. On checking her iPhone she found the same time, 11am. We had both been overseas recently. On our return we had reset our time zones on our iPhone's and laptops to Auto so no problem there. Obviously we were very puzzled.
I then checked the Apple support page and found a lot of people had the same problem with Mountain Lion although I'm running Mavericks.
What I did discover was that in iCal > Preferences> Advanced is hidden a button called Time Zone Support.
Why put it there? And why is it off by default?
We turned it on on my Mac Book and hers then switched it off then on again on our iPhones and low and behold the appointment times changed to 2pm on all our devices.
I don't understand why changing time and date settings or having them on Auto shouldn't adjust all native apps and hiding the setting in advanced preferences just seems ridiculous.
    Maybe that's just me?

I'm not sure how putting something in the user Preferences for an app hides it, but...
And why is it off by default?
I got into an argument with someone about using time zones in Calendar. He only wanted the times to show up as local times regardless of which time zone was selected and what time zone had created the event. I think he actuall missed some appointments when travelling overseas. His assistant had set up the appointments, and when he looked at them before he left, they were listed as late in the day because he was looking at his current time zone.
So, I guess that is why it is off by default.

  • Publishing iCal - time zone issue & sending invites - Entourage?

    Hi there,
Am currently looking into using iCal as our internal calendar system, and just have a couple of quick questions:
    1. I've been mucking around with publishing a test calendar on .Mac, and there seems to be a problem with the time zones. I'm in Sydney, Australia, and my System Prefs on my local machine are set to this time zone, and on my .Mac account I've set them to Sydney, Australia as well. However, when I publish the calendar, an event that's in my calendar on my local machine at 10.30am ends up published as occurring at 6.30pm? Is there a preference setting I've missed somewhere?
    2. Is there any way to use Entourage for sending invitations to iCal events? Even though I've set the Default E-mail Reader in Apple Mail as Entourage, whenever I try to invite a user to an iCal event, Apple Mail is launched. Why isn't it recognising my preference settings?
    Thanks,
    Claire.

I am not sure about No 2, but someone clever here might help.
So far as the first one goes, have a look at the orginal event (in iCal) and see whether it 'thinks' it's in Sydney. (I am guessing that you might have imported the data from elsewhere, so if it doesn't show properly you could try: a. making a positive change to the correct timezone, or b. deleting it and recreating the correct event from scratch in iCal. Then republish and check the web version. If this is getting somewhere, I can explain what I think is happening.)

  • ICal Time zone issues - Arizona

I am having trouble with the timing of events between iCal and iCloud, which I think is due to Arizona's non-timechanging policy.
I have events on my Mac's iCal, which I sync to iCloud. But, the times in iCloud (and hence, on my iPhone) are shifted by one hour. So, a flight recorded for 9am on my mac, appears to be at 8am in iCloud.
I have turned off time zone support on all my devices, but the problem remains.
    Any ideas?

I don't know if this helps anyone, but I went ahead and turned time zone support OFF. I still get the meeting invitations which are off by 7 hours, but when I accept the invitation, it shows the correct time for Arizona but still has Africa in parentheses after it. It is only a workaround, but at least I know what the correct time of the meeting should be. Does Apple know that this latest release of iCal is seriously flawed, and are they going to do anything to fix this problem?
It is frustrating because iCal used to work flawlessly with Outlook up until recently, and nothing has changed on my end.

  • Update to software 4 time zone problem

When I updated software to version 4 the time zone changed from UK to Europe which is 1 hour ahead of UK time
you must turn off SET AUTOMATICALLY if do not and just change tome zone to London it keeps changing at different times of the day
    TURN OF SET AUTOMATICALLY
it also changed events during sync between OUTLOOK calender and iphone calander
begining to think version 4 sorftware has many problems

I noticed a related problem with ios-4 on my iPhone 3GS.
Even if I turn OFF time zone support (under Settings/Mail/Calendars), the times of entries in my calendar STILL change when I change the time zone (under Settings/General/Date & Time).
The only way I can make it work reliably is to turn off "Set automatically". Then if I travel to a different country, simply change the time (not the time zone). Also, in iCal on the Mac, be sure to turn off time zone support (under Preferences / Advanced).

  • ICal time zone correct in month view, but wrong for individual events

I have my timezone set correctly to Pacific everywhere I know of (iCal upper right corner, iCloud account, computer, iPhone).
When I create an event (e.g. typing "6:30pm Work out" into a new event block), it shows up correctly (e.g. places itself at 6:30pm in monthly/weekly view).
However, when I click the event, in the details box it has the wrong timezone set (e.g. says that it's at 1:30am GMT).
This doesn't impact how things look in my calendar view, or how they sync to my iPhone and my Google calendars, all of that is fine.
What it DOES impact is that if I need to change the time, I have to go in and switch a bunch of things in invariably clumsy ways (e.g. change it to 7:30pm... oops, now it's tomorrow, switch its timezone to Pacific... shoot, now it's 9:30am, change back to 7:30pm...)
It's just annoying, and shouldn't be happening. Anyone know what is going on, and how to fix it? I've deleted the calendar cache, but it didn't help.

  • Time Zones problem in IDoc Adapter

    Hello,
we have a problem regarding time zones. We send an IDoc from an external system to the XI IDoc adapter. the external system has only one time zone which is set to CET. Our SAP XI system as well as the op system is also set to CET and the same also goes for all user properties.
We need the value of "TIME_SENT" from the xml message header to achieve our mapping. This works out pretty good but unfortunately we find the wrong time in the xml message header, which is UTC in this case.
Does anyone know where in the J2EE engine or in the IDoc adapter this UTC date comes from and where to configure the time zone?
    Thanks in advance
    /Michael

    maybe check you j2ee too:
    log on to
    http://server:port/sap/monitoring/SystemInfo
then choose system properties for your server
    inside you'll find user.timezone
check if this value is ok
