ICal Web widget to display events ?

Hi - I have created a calendar and published to .mac. This contains events happening in 2008. is there are utility - ideally a web widget that I can put on a web site that will display the next 10 events (or defined number) coming up in a window ? This would display event name and date.

Um, I'm not sure whether you're supposed to answer your own questions, but trying around I discovered that in iCal on iPhone, any event that's shorter than 30 minutes will show in a very tiny font. So I just decided to make my shorter events appear to last 30 minutes at least (possibly describing their actual shorter duration in the title), and now they appear large enough on iCal to be read comfortably.
For instance, if I need to remember to "Call Anne" at 9:00 A.M. and expect to call her for 10 minutes, which event would start at 9:00 A.M.and end at 9:10 A.M., I'll write "Call Anne 10 minutes" and make the event start at 9:00 A.M. and end at 9:30 A.M., thus making the event easier to read on my day calendar.
Hope this helps...

  • Searching Web Widget for iCal

    Hello all,
I´m looking for a web widget which can display a ical-calender saved on .mac!!
    Any Help?
    Thanks a lot

no such thing exists unfortunately. the only way to view an ical calendar on the web is to publish it, either via .mac if you have a .mac account or through another server.
    hope this helps.

  • ICal displaying events that last more than one day?

Can I change the way iCal displays an event lasting many days (particularly in the Month view)?  For example, if I put in a vacation lasting 1 week, or a conference lasting 3 days.
I would just like it to look the way it does on my iPad, iPhone, or Google Calendar.  These all display events with a labeled, colored bar spanning the days (the iPhone has dots).
Hopefully this is just a simple setting change....

    Hi Stephan,
    I use the following settings:
    1. One Subform that has:
    - Type: Flow content
    - Dir: Top to Bottom
    - "Allow page breaks" checked
    - "Repeat subform .." NOT checked
    2. Within that I have two subforms:
    A. One is used as a one-time header:
    - Type: Position content
    B. Used as the repeating data:
    - Type: Flow content
    - Dir: Western Text
    - "Allow page breaks" checked
    - "Repeat Subform ..." checked
    - Min count=1, Max not checked
With those settings the table data is spanned across several pages.
    Enjoy,
    Kim

  • Can I change the way iCal displays events in Month view?

I don't like the way iCal in the new OS displays events in Month view.  It's counter intuitive to have the time of the event be at the far right and grayed out.  I find myself staring and slowly scanning down the display just to find out when I have to be at an appointment.  I wish they had stayed with the other display, not only was it much clearer, it also word wrapped so you could see the entire description.  I have blank space at the bottom of the day, and at the same time missing information because of the lack of wrapped text.

    Hi Daniel,
The option you have there is to change the calendar of the event (currently the "University" calendar in your screen shot) not the colour.  It is the calendars that have colours in iCal not the events.
To change the calendar colour in OSX 10.7:
Click Calendars (in the top-left corner of the iCal window), and select the calendar by clicking its name in the Calendars pop-up list.
    Choose Edit > Get Info.
Choose a new colour from the pop-up menu in the top-right corner of the Info window.
To customize the colour, choose Other, and then make your colour selections in the Colours window.
    I hope that helps.
    Best wishes

  • Dashcode Web Widget - RSS feed only displays in Safari

Created a simple web widget in dashcode (my first experience with it) and when I deploy to the web it only works correctly in Safari. The RSS feed does not display in Explorer or Firefox. Having trouble getting it work on a windows computer and across browsers...any ideas?
    http://www.divergingsoul.com/
    Thank You

We were able to work around this by using jQuery to write the data we wanted into the RSS output into the "Item Description" field.  And we just didn't use the "Item Description" field in the detail page at all... it worked out pretty good for us...

  • ICal Calendar NOT displaying events?  I found a simple fix

    Hi there,
Many of us are having our iCal events disappear. I have seen this problem a number of times after the mobile me iCal update.
After trying many of the suggestions found in this forum, here is what I accidentally discovered that worked for me....
    1) Select the calendar (that is not displaying events) from the list of calendars in the left column of iCal.
    2) Double-click (on any day in month view) in the calendar to create a new event.
    3) Delete the new event.
After I did this, iCal started churning for a few seconds, then all of the events from that calendar appeared.
    Good luck,
    Matt

In fact the days at the top are not matching the days of the meetings. (I know when the meeting are - and they show up fine on my iPod)

  • WEB WIDGETS SECURE?

Don't know why I was directed here from the iWeb discussion forum, but I was.
So, to humor the redirection, in the event there is some merit to asking here, I will ask.
The question is about Adsense ads & security of web widgets in general when placed on an iWeb page.
Is Adsense secure - or is it a potentially significant compromise of one's website?
Is it any different between Tiger & Leopard?

Well, the security would depend on the widget, though I highly doubt there's much security risk from a widget. Granted as with any coded item someone could write one that takes advantage of security holes in the operating system or web browser, but that's the case with anything (programs, OS scripts, web services, etc). The widgets are just javascript and html code that implements features from other websites or services into your iWeb webpages. For instance, google maps is one that has no encryption and such, but just accesses google's maps service and displays it on your webpage. I'd imagine there are others that do incorporate encryption.
As a general idea, I'd say widgets are just as much of a security risk as any web page out there. This means that if you keep your browsers up to date with the latest security patches and updates then you should be pretty safe from any malicious web-based attack, be it based in a widget or any other code you can run through your browser.

Just saw your post. Better late than never. You may want to
consider GameBrix.com, where you can create Flash based, casual
games using your web browser. No downloads are required. You can
create a game from scratch using a library of images, sounds and
game mechanics. You can also upload your own. The online script
editor will allow you to view and edit the ActionScripts associated
with each game mechanic. In short, a great way to ramp up on game
design and build your own game without investing a lot of $
    upfront.
BTW I am associated with GameBrix so any feedback is
    appreciated.

  • ICal Search won't find events in the "distant" future !!!

Here's a bit of a disturbing one: I use iCal (Leopard, so iCal 3.0.8 1287) to keep track of many things- not just a meeting next week or a TO DO - but also for long-term planning. I wanted to enter a reminder for about December 2016 concerning social security - but first wanted to check if I hadn't already done this. I typed social in the iCal search box and everything through 2009 came up.
But, I said, that's a bit strange since I was almost sure I'd put something into iCal already.
OK so then I went to the date 28 August 2017 (shift-cmd-T) and once there, I did the same search - and voila - my event about "social security" from 17 Nov 2016 showed-up in the serach results section!!! (I later tried going to March 2016 and it worked as well - so seems it has to be within a few months / year from the date-- ?!?)
Went back to another date closer to today (28 March 2010) - it did not show up.
For other searches, some events for April 2010 have showed-up; but nothing 3 years in the future.
For some repeating items I get results showing 2008 - 2011, but never further than that if I start the search on today's date. (I get all events from past dates all the time).
Another "workaround" is that if I type the word social into Spotlight, it finds the 17 Nov 2016 event.
Is this a "bug" that iCal cannot find distant future events? Any comments or other people's experience really appreciated. It's not good, this - (like doing a search on an Excel Spreadsheet and only getting recently dated information or something like that. Not good).
    Appreciate any feedback here.
    Best regards,

DID NOT WORK - STILL NOTHING FOR 2016 - 2017
I suspect this is a bug or a limitation in the iCal program. After 3-4 hours of a rebuild in Spotlight, I tried searching from today's date for social - same as before - gets the past events; but I had to move to 2017 and re-searc to see my 2016 and 2017 events.
So this is a MAJOR MESS - but or limitation of the program.
Ah, 1993 there was the wonderful DayTimer program - could assign several labels to each event - and a whole lot more. iCal and Address Book are good - but really need something more - and also an integrated "OneNote" type program to easily handle addresses, events, photos, web sites, eM, letters and much more...
But back to this issue - it is NOT solve nor resolved. Bit of a disappointment here.
Any ideas or ??? - let me know!
    Thanks and regards,
    Steve

  • ICal imports Palm all day events as 2 day events - easy to fix?

    Hi,
I want to make the switch from Palm desktop 4 to using iCal 3 but I've run into a problem. When I import the vcal exported from Palm, the iCal makes all of the all (one) day events into 2 day events.
Is there anyway to fix this so the all day event displays only on the day it was set for in Palm?
I'm hoping I don't have to do all of these by going back to my oldest events and changing the dates by hand because I have almost 9 years of data in my Palm calendar.
    Thanks.

Just to update what I've been trying without success.
I exported the Palm datebook as .csv file. I then edited any entries that began and ended the same day without any times, i.e. the one day all day events, to begin at 12:01am and end at 11:59pm. Then after backing up my Palm user data and prefs, I erased my Palm data and reimported this .csv file into Palm desktop, then I reexported it to a vCal and imported that into iCal.
It made a mess out of things because I discovered some of these all day events also repeated. I'm not sure what to do with repeating events.
I tried going into iCal and manually changing the events but then I end up with many duplicates if they are repeating.
I exported the iCal data and opened it in Text Wrangler. Then I exported the calendar from Sunbird. It seems like the iCal is adding an extra "end date" that isn't in the file when I import it into Sunbird.
Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

  • Anyone know of any killer countdown web widgets?

New to iweb, just now figuring out the use of web widgets and they sure seem cool but a bit hard to navigate as to what is what out there.
I'd like to know if anyone an point me to their favorites, in particular I am looking for a countdown widget, where the days and weeks toward a special event are counted down.
    Thanks!
    j

Most of canned countdown javascript widgets are based on well know date, they are well and good... but they are not good unless your birthday is on New Year day, July 4 or Xmas
Unless you have some javascript knowledge, then you can do quite a few things:

All javascript is available on my site... once again, javascript knowledge is helpful.

  • HT2513 I have a Macbook pro and I've lost my ical and widget icons. It says it's in the trash but I can't find it.

I have a Macbook pro and I've lost my ical and widget icons. It says it's in the trash but I can't find it.

    Hey Shady K,
It sounds like you've removed the iCal and Widget icons from your dock and want to get the back there for easy access. The following document goes over dock basics and there's a section (which I copied below) that goes over how to get those icons back on to the dock. Essentially you'll just find the application's icon in your applications folder and drag it back.
    Mac Basics: The Dock
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2474
    Adding and removing Dock items
If you want to add an application to the Dock, click the Launchpad icon in the Dock and drag the application icon to the Dock; the icons in the Dock will move aside to make room for the new one. If you want to add a file or folder to the Dock, just drag its icon from any Finder window (or the desktop) and drop it on the Dock. The resulting icon that appears in the Dock is actually an alias of the original item (it's kind of a pointer to your original item). If you drag an application or file onto the Dock, you'll be able to open it anytime by simply clicking its docked icon. If you drag a folder onto the Dock, a Finder window of the folder's contents will display when you click the folder icon in the Dock.
To remove an item from the Dock, drag its icon an inch or more off the Dock and wait a couple seconds, then release; the icon will disappear in a poof of smoke. There are some icons that you can't remove from the Dock, such as the Trash and the Finder.
Don't worry, you aren't permanently removing the item from your computer; you simply got rid of its Dock icon. If you want that item back in the Dock, locate the application, file, or folder in the Finder (or with Spotlight), and drag it back into the Dock.
    Hope that helps,
    David

  • Web Widget issue -- small but would like to fix it

I don't know how many people use the Web Widget but I use it all the time.  Mainly displaying web pages -- but I get to them locally for speed.  I think the best widget for C5.
However it seems that when the widget hits a certain size a weird behavior happens.  Let me give you an example.  I have a project that will reference a website using the web widget -- the web widget is almost the entire screen on an 800x600 (the issue happens whether I use the web page or local file option).  It works great EXCEPT, the web widget properties window briefly flashes (what you see in captivate on the slide).
So the user sees this nannosecond weird flash (web widget properties but its so fast you cant tell) and then the website.  Now if the user goes back to the slide the website is already cached so you don't see the "flash".  I tried starting the widget further into the slide but that doesn't help.  Also I know that nothing can be placed over an iFrame so I didn't try to hide the first half second... Any thoughts or remedies?
    thanks
    Dave

    Jim
The widget is great.  You have willing paying customers for any future web widget.
    thanks

  • Ical can´t save the event "event name" to the exchange server

I have been trying to set up iCal to work with exchange in several Macs runnig Snow Leopard but there seems to be some time zone issue.
When I try to save a new event, I get a error: iCal can't save the event "event name" to the exchange server. The account "account name" currently can't be modified, to discard...       If I change the city in time zone preferences to anything outside Mexico (for example Dallas Tx.) then everything works perfect, the problem is all of my users are in Mexico City aund using CST instead may cause other problems.
I have tried with time zone support enabled and also disabled.
Something very odd is that existing events can be modified or deleted, even with the city set to Mexico in time zone preferences.
    ¿Any suggestions?

UPDATE 2: Found aother post that explains that this problem was fixed by enabling time zone support in iCal and then changing the city to the correct one by clicking in the upper right corner of iCal´s window where the time zone is displayed.  https://discussions.apple.com/message/10108361#10108361
Well, I followed instructions mentioned above. By clicking on the upper right corner, a new window opens showing current iCal time zone settings (Not the same as Mac OS), in this window, time zone seems right (CDT), but as closest city, "UTC-UTC" is selected, so I change this to México and click OK, but the problem continues. If I go back to this iCal´s time zone window, "UTC-UTC" is still selected! and no mater how many times i change it back, after clicking OK, "UTC-UTC" comes back!.
Something else I just found out is that if the city is changed to anything outside Mexico within the same time zone in system preferences, as I mentioned before I can save events, but now in the upper right corner of iCal, I have two different CDT´s, one named "CDT Central Time" (the one that works) and other named "CDT Central Standard Time" (the one that doesn't).
My guess is that because daylight saving start and finish dates in Mexico are different from USA's, Apple created a different time zone with Mexico's rules (CDT CentralStandard Time) but something is wrong with it.
