ICal with Outlook or Sunbird using calDAV?

Situation: I want to view & edit several calendar files from one Leopard user on an XP PC.
Sunbird: I can view ONE calendar from this user using http://example.server.com+:8008/calendars/users/+username/calendar but I can't figure out how to get Sunbird to see all 4 of this users calendars
Outlook: Using Open Connector I can't even get one calendar visible. The above URI (and many of its variations) doesn't work. Open connector just hangs for a bit and returns an error.
I welcome any suggestions.
Thanks,
Any suggestions?

You can mount the caldav share within Finder using the shortcut "Apple + K".
look at: http://www.jonathansaggau.com/blog/2007/11/leopardserver_caldav_andmozi.html
It did not really work for me. I was able to get the additional calendars connected, though entries created on the mac are not display within sunbird.
I guess this feature is too new to be used in productional enviroment...

It would help to know what "tried everything" means. What version of Outlook for Mac do you have? It worked fine for me with OS 10.6.8 as well as OS 10.7.4 now with Outlook 14.2.3.
Perhaps you could try the steps listed in Apple's Knowledgebase article and/or the MS Support article regardless of what the problem stated is. Also, if you have not already done so, try the Microsoft Community as it is a Microsoft issue.

  • IPhone4S not syncing with Outlook Notes previously used with iPhone 3GS

I have been using Notes on iPhone3GS and backing them up in Outlook, where I also make notes on the PC for ease of use.  When I went to sync notes with Outlook with my new iPhone4S, only some of my Notes were restored -- with many missing.  How do I solve this issue? Thanks

Somehow this was magically fixed.  Initially when I synced with Outlook there was no search bar, and only the items in there that contained "yo."  Then I pressed the plus to add a new note, but I did not add any new note, but instead of pressing Done I pressed "notes" and then it took me back to a conventional Notes screen that had "yo" in the search bar, and then when I took out the "yo" ... all was well again.

  • How to link iCal with Outlook for Mac 2011?

    Hello Apple people.
Just got my MacBook Pro (Late 2011) and am trying to enable Outlook to link with iCal so I can get meeting alerts on my iPhone 4.  I prefer using Outlook for email and calendar usage.  I've linked it with iCal, but can't get information to transfer between the two.  Any thoughts?

    Greetings,
Before doing any troubleshooting I would recommend backing up your data (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1553).  Calendars and contacts tend to be important to people and are complex in nature which increases the chances of mishaps.
Make sure you have installed all software updates from Apple by going to Apple > Software Update.
Make sure you have installed all software updates for your Microsoft software (Open Outlook and then go to Help > Check for Updates).
Restart your computer (Apple Menu > Restart).
The first thing I would suggest is following all steps in this article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2452489.
Once this is complete you should see the calendars you have added to Outlook when you click the "Calendars" button in iCal under the "On My Mac" section.
If the calendars do not show up reset Sync Services: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1627.
    Hope that helps.

  • Syncing contacts and calendar with outlook and gmail - use Exchange or not?

I need to sync my contacts and calendar between my iphone and Outlook and google on my laptop. Syncing via iTunes is fine as a backup but not as a constant process. I then saw that Gmail would permit an Exchange account to be used to allow immediate syncing so I installed an Exchange account on the iphone. It works but I now have doubled contacts. Is there a better way of doing this to avoid duplicate contacts? If I dedupe the contacts on the iphone do I risk then deleting contacts in Outlook on my PC? Alternatively if I delete the Exchange account on the iPhone is there a simple way of keeping calendars in sync on Iphone, Google and Outlook? (I just have two gmail accounts and do not have a Microsoft Exchange server)
Grateful for any useful advice on this issue!

FYI I eventually developed a work around that works better. I have a mac at home and a window pc at work. You can use plaxo to sync contacts between the two and the ipod syncs with the mac as advertised. Also as a bonus you don't have to deal with any issues, problems and pains with multiple itunes locations...

  • Can I share ical with outlook users in my office?

Is this possible? If so - how?

It could be that the your work router/network is blocking those sites. Some work networks do block some sites.
You can also try another browser like the Chrome browser available from the App store.

  • I use iCal, work wants me to sync with Outlook, how do I do this?

    Dear Community.
I'm happily using iCloud to run my diary across all my Apple devices, how do I get my current setup to sync with Outlook so my office can see my diary?
I don't want to change how I make appt's, I can make an appt on my phone, iPad or MacBook and it'll sync nicely, I just need to be able to share one specific Work diary in my iCloud/ Apple account with Outlook. I use Outlook on my MacBook for email only, I have no interest in using the calendar function other than to keep it synced to allow my colleagues to access it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. It's bad enough that people want to be able to track my daily schedules, without having to spend hours trying to figure out how to keep the system I have for diary management and not have to move everything just to placate someone.
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi Crackyrich,
I may have a possible solution for you.  Since you have everything set up in iCloud, have you tried the Calendar sharing feature?  You can create a work calendar to keep it separate from your personal calendar, and share the work calendar privately or publicly.   Here's how:
    iCloud: Calendar sharing overview
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2689
You can share a calendar both publicly and privately with other people. Sharing gives you flexibility in managing calendars. For example, you could create a calendar for your child’s sports team and share it privately with just the coaches so they can edit it. You could also share it publicly with all the parents so they can view (but not change) it whenever they want.
    Sharing works as follows:
Public calendars can be shared with anyone. To access public calendars, visitors need to use Calendar on a Mac, Microsoft Outlook on a Windows computer, or any other app that supports the iCalendar file format.
A public calendar can’t be edited by anyone but the calendar owner (the creator).
Private calendars can be shared with other iCloud users.
Participants can view the calendar using iCloud Calendar; the Calendar app on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or a Mac; or Microsoft Outlook on a Windows computer.
As the owner (creator) of a shared calendar, you assign edit privileges to the invitees to control who can modify the calendar. There are two types of access privileges that can be assigned:
Participants with View Only access can:
View the calendar and change their view (from day to week, for example), without affecting the view of other participants
    Change their own calendar preferences
Participants with View & Edit access privileges can do everything listed above, plus:
    Create and delete calendar events
Change details (for example, the name, date, and time) for calendar events
Track the responses of guests invited to a calendar event
Participants can’t invite new people to a shared calendar.
Note:    If multiple participants try to edit a shared calendar at the same time, the changes that are saved first are kept and reflected in the calendar. The person whose changes arenʼt saved sees a message that his or her changes werenʼt saved.
If you disable your iCloud account, any shared calendars you created become unavailable; all participants automatically receive an email notifying them that the calendar is no longer shared.

iCloud: Share a calendar with others

iCloud: Share a calendar with others
You can share a calendar both publicly and privately with other people. For specifics about viewing and editing privileges for shared calendars, and how participants can access the calendars, see Calendar sharing overview.
    Share a calendar privately
Click the Share button to the right of the calendar name in the sidebar, then select Private Calendar.
Note:    You can also share the same calendar publicly. For instructions, see the next task, “Share a calendar publicly.”
Type the invitee’s email address in the Add Person field and press Return.
Click the pop-up menu with the invitee’s name and choose access privileges (View & Edit or View Only).
For each person you want to share the calendar with, repeat steps 2 and 3.
When you’ve invited everyone and set their privileges, click OK.
Invitation emails are sent from your iCloud email address to the participants you specified.
    Share a calendar publicly
Click the Share button to the right of the calendar you want to share, then select Public Calendar.
Note:    You can also share the same calendar privately. For instructions, see the previous task, “Share a calendar privately.”
To invite people to view the calendar, click Email Link.
Type one or more email addresses in the To field, then click Send.
The people you specify automatically receive an invitation email that includes the calendar’s URL. An invitee doesn’t need to be an iCloud user to accept an invitation to view a shared public calendar.
In the sidebar, a shared calendar has a dark Share button.
You can also resend invitations to one or more invited participants at any time.

  • I'm too old to learn iCal.  How do I tell iTunes to synch with Outlook for Mac for all of the Contacts and the Calendar on my iPhone and iPad??  Thanks

I'm too old to learn iCal.  How do I tell iTunes to synch with Outlook for Mac for all of the Contacts and the Calendar on my iPhone and iPad??
Also, once I figure out how to replace iCal with Outlook/Mac on iTunes, how do I synch the phone and pad so that the information on those devices over-writes onto Outlook as a backup, rather than having a blank Calendar on Outlook wipe out all of the information on the phone and pad???
    Thanks

If you haven't tried already, plug your devices into iTunes, and on each device next to the "Summary" tab at the top is another tab called "Info." Click that and scroll down to Contacts, Calendars, etc. There should be a pull down bar under each category for "Sync contacts from..." and you should be able to select from that pull down list Outlook.  Hit Apply at the bottom and see if that does it.

  • How to using ical with two separate iphones

    hello
trying to understand and learn how to use Ical with 2 different Iphones, using Icloud.

To sync iCal across computers, the calendar needs to be published to a server. This can be a local server that you can set up, or it can be something like google or microsoft exchange or apple's mobile me. The best bet may be to wait until fall and see what iCloud offers!
Sharing your screen can be accomplished a few different ways. You can have two iChat accounts set up, and have one logged in on each computer, and then use iChat's screen share feature. The other way is to go to System Preferences, Sharing, and then check the box next to Screen Sharing. You may have to adjust some of the settings in there, but give that a shot.

  • Using yahoo mail with outlook and mac mail

I previously used entourage on my OS 10.6.8 mac but I have upgraded to os 10 and office 2011 with outlook.  When I set up outlook will yahoo mail messages only be accessible on the original device that opens them?  I have an iMac desktop with outlook, a Macair using mac mail and a Samsung tablet using yahoo mail.  I have noticed that when using mac mail only on the iMac and Macbookair, to get yahoo mail and yahoo mail on the tablet.  I can only see my yahoo mail messages on the first device that opens the yahoo mail account.  I have Yahoo mail plus.  Is there a way to fix this other than turning off the yahoo mail account on the devices I am not currently using?

  • Syncing iCal to Outlook Mac 2011

    Folks,
I am running the latest version of Lion with Outlook 2011 for Mac. My principal calendar is maintained on Google as it sync quite well with Pocket Informant.  Despite many attempts I am unable to sync iCal with Outlook 2011. Google sync quite well with iCal via a utility, but despite setting sync services to on, Outlook 2011 does not sync with iCal. Can anyone offer suggestions here?
    Many Thanx
    LRB55

The bottom line is that Office for Mac does not support CalDAV, which is the type of calendar hosted by Google and iCloud. Outlook will only sync calendars with iCal that were:
    1. Created in Outlook.
    2. Created in iCal "On My Mac".
If a calendar is created "On My Mac", then it is hosted locally (on your Mac) and Outlook can sync to it.
If it's created in Google or iCloud, then it's hosted on a server in the cloud. iCal syncs to that server using CalDAV. Outlook doesn't support CalDAV, so it can't sync with those calendars.
