ICal won't accept Google Calendar password

can't sync with my Google calendars anymore.
I have deleted the calendar accounts on my Mac.
Set up the 2-stpe passwords on Google.
Tried to create new accounts in iCal with my email address (is not a gmail account) and app specific password:
- used Automatic Account setup: get a "Server With Secure Communication Unavailable" error message
- used Google account type: it finds my account - asks me again right away for the password. I enter it. It creates the account but gives me the error icon and wants my password over and over without syncing.
- used CaDAV account type: I enter User Name, app specific password and for server address: google.com
again, it finds my account and wants passwword right away.
I have also tried to use for a server address the calendar URL (https://www.google.com/calendar/dav/[email protected]/[email protected]/user) - no go.
I have quit iCal after various account setups and reopeen - always the same problem:
Alert icon next to the calendar account and when I click on it, it wants me to enter the password. I do and nothing happens - no syncing.
When I go to Delegates of the created account, I get an error message saying: Sever did not recognize your user name or passwword....
I only use the app specific password. I do have a different user name than my email address - but I have tried to use both at different times - no go.
Any ideas?
Mac mini, OSX 10.8.5, iCal 6.0

I haven't tried your fix yet, but I was having the same problem with iCal and now I have it with everything. Google wants to link with OS X for a number of apps - fine - I enter my password - still fine - then there's another window: will you accept x,y, z? I click 'accept' and I get 'Google authentication failed'. I have changed my password three time just to make sure I am using the correct password, but no.
I do wonder if the problem is gmail - the password window opens with my gmail address (which I never use) filled in. I change it to my real email address and the password is fine until it gets to the 'accept' thing. Just appeared in notifications again: Enter you pssword for [my username] in Internet Accounts. I just can't be bothered to try again.

  • Publish iCal to a new Google calendar account

I recently was assigned a Google email and calendar account for a work group. The email system is administered by the work group and it is not a personal Google account; however, I have a password and login for my email and calendar. How can I publish my iCal account to this Google calendar account and then keep it in sync, so that when I change my iCal appointments, they are updated in the Google calendar?
Thanks for any help you can lend this rookie.

    Hello Stephen
In order to change the command timeouts used in Visual Studio 2013 you will need to change the following registry setting:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\12.0\SQLDB\Database\QueryTimeoutSeconds
You can increase it to 300 (5 min) to see if that helps. You can also set it to 0 (infinite) so it won't time out on the client.
For SSMS and the command line tools, the registry setting is:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\10.0\SQLDB\Database\QueryTimeoutSeconds

My ipad2 won't accept my apple password for new app install. I've tried several time and get a pop up "unknown error". Help?

Sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try again.

  • I did re-set my password and when I click on Install for Mavericks, I still get a box for "administrator password" and it still won't accept my new password. Is there a difference between my Apple ID and the administrator password they're asking for?

I downloaded Mavericks and it won't install. I did re-set my password and when I click on Install for Mavericks, I still get a box for "administrator password" and it still won't accept my new password. Is there a difference between my Apple ID and the administrator password they're asking for? I never had an administrator password-- I just hit enter and have never had a problem before with previous installations. I'm on an iMac, from 2007, running Mt. Lion (version 10.8.5). I've been looking for other's posts who may be having the same problem, but haven't found any. Can anyone help?

Ugh. The 'no password, no work' thing is a recent Apple development. I ran into it on my system and ended up having to do a clean install on a partition I fully erased.
I suppose, if you have the ability to, go online and look up how to burn a bootable DVD image. Download the 10.8.4 image then use the Disk Utility to make a boot image of it. You'll need a dual-layer DVD or a USB drive (or memory stick at least 8GB) If you've got an optical drive, burn the disk, if you've a USB device, use that.
Then get a pocket drive and copy your important files off the system or let Time Machine do a full backup.
When the backup is done, insert the disk and hold down the C key until the machine boots off of the DVD. At the point you get to the start window, go to the menu and choose the Disk Utility.
In the Disk Utility, reformat the drive. You go to the actual DRIVE (not the Macintosh HD, but the root above it that is the actual hard drive device)
I always do this and *partition* it into several volumes, the benefit being, you can store all of your music, documents and importans stuff on that secondary storage volume you make - it will have it's own index and then the first volume is where you put the OS and it will have it's own index as well. That way, if the OS throws a wobbler and you need to reinstall, you don't lose your data.
Depending on the size of your hard drive, it is good to give your OS partition at least 60GB and optimally 100GB, and the rest for storage.
Name your volumes, use the little box sliders to manually size them or put that number in the size window, select for the format, Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and hit Apply and then the Disk Utility will quickly create your new partitions.
Once finished, quit the Utility and it will return you to the OS installer. Select the volume you want to install to and it should start up and install.
Once the installation is done, you'll get the new machine startup then you MUST put in a password for the computer. Once you're in, and to the desktop, don't bother with any Mountain Lion updates, go right to the App Store and get the Mavericks update and let it install the app to your Applicaitons folder, then do that install.
On a side note, there MAY be a way to make a disk image from the Mavericks application and avoid the entire Mountain Lion step.. I honestly do not know, but a bit of hitting the search engines may find out if there is. I think that if you looked for "make Mavericks boot disk or boot image' you may find something.
    Good luck!

I have the same problem - it is maddening. I rely on this iPad for work so this is not just an annoyance! The above solutions of changing the appleid on the device or on the website do not work.
The old email address no longer exists - I haven't used it in a year probably and I no longer have the account.  I logged into the appleid website and there is no trace of the old email address so there is nothing that can be deleted or changed there.  On the iPad there is no trace of the old email address so nothing can be deleted there either. I have updated the iPad software and the same problem comes right back.  Every 2 seconds I am asked to log in using the old non-existent email.  The device is currently useless.
The only recent change to anything was the addition of an Apple TV device, which was set up using the correct login and password.
Does anyone have any ideas? The iPad has been backed up to the iCloud so presumably it now won't recognize the current iCloud account? So restoring may notbe an option?

  • My iphone won't accept my iTunes password for it's updates. How do I fix it?

My iPhone won't accept my iTunes password for it's updates. How do I fix this? Or what is the number of an actual person (no AI) that I can contact to help me?

Hi,  Did you find a fix for this?  I have the same issue, I've logged out of everything I can think of on my phone and logged back in again and it appears to accept the password.  Yet when I try and update my apps it says that the password is incorrect!  Ive reset my passwords both AOL and Apple.  When I log on via a PC it accepts them, but when I try and buy / update something via the app store on my phone it says that the password is incorrect.  Ive made sure that software levels are up to date etc.
Any help would be much appreciated!
    Thanks

  • ICal auto refresh from Google Calendar?

    Hello-
I have my iCal synched to my Google Calendar (I like to refer to iCal whenever I'm offline and don't have ready access to Google Calendar).
Is it possible to create an Automator script so that my iCal automatically refreshes my Google Calendar? If not, do you know if it would be difficult to create an Apple Script to do this? Thanks much.

There is no apple script function that will refresh it, there is a thing called "reload calendars", but that only reloads it from local files. I guess you could try something like a script that presse "ShiftR" every now and then.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and  Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Calendar will not sync with Google calendar. Won't accept my Gmail password.

    iPhone 5s 16GB (2.9 GB free), iOS 8.1.3
When I attempt to enter an event in Calendar, I get a message "Password Incorrect.  Enter the password for the Gmail account "Gmail'".
But when I try to enter my Gmail password, the app won't accept it and the same message appears.  And entries don't show up on my Google calendar..
I tried turning off calendars in iCloud but that didn't help.  Also turned off all calendars
This is not an operating system issue - keeps happening through several iOS updates.

Correction: Turned off all calendars in calendar app other than Google calendar for my Gmail account.

  • ICloud not accepting Google Calendar Invites

I am having problems accepting invites received from Google calendar in iCal on my iMac. Every time I recieve an invitation in Mail and try to add it to iCal, I receive the error below. The invite will be added to my calendar but will not sync back to iCloud and is eventually deleted from iCal on my iMac. The only way that I can get these invites to work is to accept them on either my iPad or my iPhone. Invitations that I create on my iMac sync to iCloud with no problems. How do I get this to work properly?

Same problem here.  iCal seems to completely ignore my default calendar setting.  I have yet to discern a pattern as to when it decides to use my default and when it decides to use my google calendar as the default.  I think that when I receive an invitation on my google email id, it decides to use the corresponding calendar.
I've turned off all of my auto-accept settings in both mac mail/ical and in google calendar.  So I now accept all of my invitations manually.  Every time I accept I have to go and open it to see what calendar it ended up on and change if necessary.  But then I get the error you reported.  And I then often end up with 2 entries.  One on my iCloud calendar and another on my google calendar which I can't delete.
Drives me crazy.  Next step, I think I'll try accepting all my invitations on my iPhone.

  • Can I get iCal to respond to Google Calendar invitations?

Ever since MobileMe forced everyone to switch to the new CalDAV calendars, iCal.app stopped responding to iCalendar (ICS) invitations that I receive via email from Google Calendar users. Here's what's happening:
I receive a Google Calendar email, open it in Mail.app, and double-click on the ICS email file attachment.
Mail passes the ICS to iCal.app, which automatically creates a new calendar entry. However, the only choice I have for the new even under the "NOTIFICATIONS" side pane in iCal is an "OK" button. (Prior to the MobileMe Calendar update, I could accept or decline a meeting from the Notifications pane.)
I can open the meeting in iCal to reveal "Maybe", "Decline", and "Accept" buttons, but—for example—choosing the Accept button doesn't send an iCalendar email response back to the meeting organizer. The fact that I just accepted the event is also not reflected in iCal. Furthermore, iCal doesn't let me edit or add a new alarm to the event.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions for how to restore the old behavior!
P.S. Here are links to two other calendaring issues that cropped up since the MobileMe change:
How do I set the meeting organizer email address for the new CalDAV calendar?
Can I get Google to recognize my iCal invitations?

I have the same problem and it is not limited to Google Calendar invitations. Very frustrating! I can't find a solution anywhere other than replying to the invite message manually ... very poor workaround.

  • ICal stopped syncing with Google Calendar

My iCal recently stopped syncing with my Google Calendar.
Change: I decided to set up an application specific password (http://support.google.com/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=185833)
Action: Doing this made me enter the application specific password on my MacBook Air for my Gmail set up confirmation for email.
Result: When that happened everything was syncing fine; email & calendar.
The next morning when I tried to launch my calendar on my Air I received the error message that my Air could not access the Google Calendar. The password was incorrect.
Assumption: I needed to set aup an application specific password now for the iCal on my Air.
Action: I removed the calendar in iCal preferences and created an app specific password and tried to set up the calendar again using the app specific password from Google.
Result: Selected Account Type (Google) Email (google email) Password (app specific password)
Error Message: Server with Secure Communication Unavailable - Your calendar account isn't on a server that can recive your calendar information securely. If a server isn't secure, others may be able to view your calendar information. To continue searching for your account on servers that may not be secure, and then set up the account it's found, click continue.
Action: I went into my Google Calendar settings and made the calendar public.
Note: When I originally set up my calendar I didn't get this message or have to make my Google calendar public.
Question: Why am I getting this error message now?
Change: Account Settings: prompted me now to set this up as a CalDav account....?
    What the heck?

the same is happening to me.
All my cals have been syncing just fine. Upgraded my iphone os5. upgraded lion on laptop. And for some reason, now i'm opening ical today and trying to edit, i am suddenly getting URL errors. Also i cannot find a way in the new ical (with lion) to unsubscribe from things.
My iphone seems to be updating ok as it's syncing from the google cal server... but if i want to add or edit anything to my google cals in ical, it's not letting me do anything.
    Any ideas anyone ?

  • Ical not syncing to google calendar

Hi everyone. I can't seem to find a solution to my iCal and Google calendar problem. Here is my information:
    MacBook Pro - version 10.6.8
    iCal - 4.04
I have all of my Google calendars set up in iCal. When I enter any events from within Google Calendar on the web, it then syncs flawlessly to my iCal...delegates included.
However, when I make a change in iCal itself on my computer, I get this error: The calendar https://www.google.com/calendar/dav/[email protected]/user//www.google.com/calendar/dav/[email protected]/user was not found on the server. Make sure the URL is correct.
I removed the / that gets inserted at the end of the above address like some have suggested but iCal keeps putting it back in there. I am also noticing that I don't have this problem when I enter events from iCal on my iPhone or iPad. It only happens on my MacBook Pro.
    Please help!!!!!!!

According to Google: "Setting up iCloud sync has caused events to be wiped from Google Calendar for some of our users who were syncing information between iCal and Google Calendar. In response, we've stopped deleting the information until this issue is fixed. Until further notice, deleting any event in iCal will not remove this event from Google Calendar (for iCal 4 users, all changes made after a delete attempt will not be saved in Google Calendar). We've contacted Apple and we are actively working on this. We're also attempting to restore the deleted events. Thanks for bringing this to our attention, we'll keep you posted. As a workaround, we suggest you remove event in the Web version of Google Calendar (calendar.google.com). This change would be properly synced with your iCal."
