Ical won't refresh my google calendar

i was able to successfully import my google calendar to my ical by clicking the .isc link under my private addres (as provided by google) - however, my ical hasn't refreshed in days. i tried to manually refresh - but the option is grayed out (will not let me choose).
anybody know why this might be happening?
thanks!

still stumped.

  • ICal won't sync with Google Calendars

I've been using iCal for several years and would like to sync it with my Google Calendar.  I've followed the instructions listed here, and cross referenced them with the iCal manual.  But every time I try to create/add an account in my iCal preferences, I get the following message:
"iCal found the CalDAV server "www.google.com" but couldn't log in with the user name "[email protected]".
Make sure the user name and password you entered are correct, then try again."
I've tried several times.  My user name and password are correct, but nothing I do seems to help.
I've also made my Google Calendar public.
I'm using iCal 4.0.4 and on Mac OS 10.6.8.  Nothing seems to help.
    Please advise, thanks.

Turns out the problem was that I was using Google's 2-Step Verification for my Google accounts, and needed to create a unique password specifically for Google Calendar in order for iCal to access it.  Problem solved.

  • ICal won't sync with google calendar

I recently had my computer crash, and luckily I had all my calendar backed up on google... I've managed to get my old calendar back, but now that I want to resubscribe my new calendars, google isn't recognizing any of the sites.
When I put in the webcal://ical.mac.com/... to subscribe it sends me immediately to a page that asks for an email address to tell people about my public calendar, but never puts it into my calendar!
    any ideas?

    Hi,
You might want to check out Busysync.

  • ICal auto refresh from Google Calendar?

    Hello-
I have my iCal synched to my Google Calendar (I like to refer to iCal whenever I'm offline and don't have ready access to Google Calendar).
Is it possible to create an Automator script so that my iCal automatically refreshes my Google Calendar? If not, do you know if it would be difficult to create an Apple Script to do this? Thanks much.

There is no apple script function that will refresh it, there is a thing called "reload calendars", but that only reloads it from local files. I guess you could try something like a script that presse "ShiftR" every now and then.

  • Why doesn't ical add all of my google calendars on the same page?

why doesnt ical add all of my google calendars on the same page.
like in gmail, i have different calendars that all show up together on the same page.
i see that they are there in ical when i click window. but the are not all see together on one page.

If the box next to each calendar in the list is checked, it should show the contents of the calendars on the page. Unchecking the box hides the calendar.

  • How do I see my ICal events on my work Google Calendar?

how do I see my ICal events on my work Google Calendar?

I thought that was the case.  I'm happy enough syncing Entourage to my iPhone.  The last update to Entourage actually fixed that.  I was just curious if the Entourage calendar in iCal would appear in the iCloud via iCal. Obviously it doesn't unless you want to "force" the issue.  Thanks for taking the time.  Bill

  • Mavericks iCal won't talk to Exchange Calendar

Running MacBook Air, 10.9.4. iCal suddenly stopped connecting to Exchange. I deleted account settings, and re-created Exchange account in System Preferences > Internet Accounts. I received "There was an error in Internet Accounts preference pane.". Checked some discussion threads and saw that for some, disconnecting Internet access and manually setting server worked. I tried this, and was able to set-up Exchange account, however it works for everything except calendar (i.e., it syncs with notes, email etc). When I open iCal, my Exchange account appears as a calendar option in the left of iCal screen, but none of my calendar entries appear in the calendar part of the iCal screen.
All other account calendar entries (e.g., my Google Calendar) appear fine.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

Found a solution, from a different post.
I reset again all the iCal prefs and caches ( (~/Library/Calendars, ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iCal.plist, ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.iCal) and RESTARTED the Mac. Then I opened iCal and added back the Exchange account, and all working good.

  • Existing iCal calenders syncing with new Google Calendar/iCal account

I have been using iCal now for awhile but only recently started using Google Calendars (once I found out they could both be synced together). Anyway, I understand how to set up the sync, it's very simple. But, I have three calendars for personal, school, and work already in iCal that are in the default group profile that iCal starts with of "calendars".
Anyway, when you create a new account in iCal to set up the syncing, it creates a whole new calendar group for your profile. I had never had an "account" before, so all my three main calendars are separate from this new account. Is there anyway to move or duplicate those calendars into my new calendar group so that I can have one flowing set of synced information between google and iCal without manually retyping all of the information myself? I have tried dragging the calendars down into the other group and all you can do is reorder them within the group they're already in. Even a duplication would work, if that is possible (to duplicate a whole calendar).
Any insight from anyone would be incredibly helpful.
    Thanks a ton,
    Zac

  • ICal crashes when you have Google Calendars

I have Google Calendar in iCal and it crashes whenever I open it after a second or two. I have found another post where crashing was solved by removing and adding the Google Calendar, but I don't have enough time to remove it when iCal starts. It disables the whole app for me.

I have found out that the problem was solved when I did:
    1) Start isync
    2) Select iSync->Preferences
    3) Press the "Reset Sync History" buton
This solution was suggested for untitled calendars appearing at start and it worked for my problem as well. Seems to be a good thing to try with iCal problems.

  • ICal Alerts Disappear (synching with Google Calendar)

I'm synching three Google Calendars to iCal: two work accounts and a personal account, all running on Google apps. These calendars are all synched to my iPhone as well. I have the default alert setting in iCal set at 10 minutes. The problem is that the alerts don't seem to be synching up to Google calendar.
I noticed that none of my alerts were happening. After being late for a couple meetings as a result of this, I investigated. Here's what I've gathered.
The default alert don't seem to stick.
Additional alerts created in iCal don't stick either.
Alerts created on my iPhone stick and synch up to Google Apps just fine - they show up in the Google Apps web interface as expected. However, these alerts dont' synch down to iCal.
The problem is universal across all three accounts.
Unlike the ongoing "can't delete events via iCal" issue that's well documented (and incredibly still not fixed) there's no mention of an alerts synch issue on the CalDAV known issues page.
I had originally set up the Google accounts to have no default reminders added, so I wouldn't have to deal with the extra email/SMS reminders. I have now added a ten minute reminder to all these accounts as a workaround. Now, when I create events in iCal, the ten minute reminder sticks. I have no real idea how this works, but it's as if when synching, iCal sees that Google Apps has a ten minute reminder as well, and there's no conflict. However, if I change the reminder interval, it just disappears. Also if I add a second reminder, say 40 minutes to remind me to leave to drive somewhere, those simply disappear as well. It seems like the correct behavior would be to pass up whatever reminder is set in iCal to Google Apps - that's not happening.
This is happening in iCal 5.01, running on OS X 10.7.2. Really frustrating - anyone have any ideas on how to fix or further troubleshoot? Thanks!

So I got to researching again today, because the utility of calendars is greatly reduced without functioning reminders.
There's a thread over on Google Groups that started in December about this very issue. There wasn't much helpful info until two days ago when someone posted about types of alerts and support between Google and iCal:
If you set the default reminder in your google calendar preferences, when you add an event in ical, the default reminder shows up.
In google I selected "pop-up" for my default reminder type.
When you look at the type of reminder that is set in ical, if you had selected "pop-up" in google, you'll see ical calls it "message".
I've always preferred to use the "message with sound" option in ical. So I tried changing my default alarm within ical.
The reminder/notification/alarm disappeared when I changed it to "message with sound".
When I added a new reminder that was just a message, it showed up, and didn't instantly dissapear. It also synced with my google calendar as expected.
I can live without the "boink" sound when my alerts pop up on screen, so long as they're popping up and not disappearing. Hope this helps some, at least until it starts working like it used to.
I had looked at the type of messages supported, but assumed that "message with sound" would simpy become "message" which is a "popup" to Google. Seems like that would be a more elegant handling of message incompatibility - "translate" the alert to a similar alert type, instead of just dumping it. Lame.
Anyway - this is good enough. I don't care as much about the sound as simply having reminders again.

  • Calendar.app won't sync with Google calendar after Yosemite update

I recently clean installed Yosemite on my 11" Macbook Air and my Google calendar will not sync with Calendar.app. Everything else on my Google account syncs with no problem, but the calendar refuses. I tried with another google account and had the same problem. Unlinked and re-linked the account in question, same problem. Turned off 2-factor auth, same problem. Tried with CalDAV, doesn't work.
In Preferences > Internet Accounts > Google Account in Question, the box next to Calendars is unchecked by default. When checking it, I get a progress wheel that spins for a minute or so and then...nothing.
I'm out of troubleshooting steps. Is there something I'm missing here?

I'm having the exact same problem after clean install of Yosemite too.
Update: I followed the suggestion on this thread and it seemed to solve the problem.
really weird... i just temporary connected to my phone's Personal Hotspot instead of regular home wi-fi,
    and it started to sync!

  • I'm having problems with syncing my iphone 4s calendar with google calendar.  google calendar will sync with phone but phone calendar won't sync with google calendar.

I can't get my iphone 4s calendar to sync with google calendar.  I can sync the other way i.e from google to iphone.  Does anyone know how to fix this?

You need to transfer your iTunes library from your old computer to your new computer per the instructions included with this link.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1751
If you don't do this per the instructions included with the link, all iTunes content on your iPhone will be erased with the first sync. If you haven't transferred photos from your old computer to your new, any photos on your iPhone that were transferred from your previous computer will be erased when selecting to transfer any photos from your new computer.
Not sure how cancelling a sync with iTunes and importing photos/videos from the Camera Roll with iPhoto could have an effect on your GPS reception and location services.

  • ICal won't refresh appointments unless i click on each day

Please help! When I enter an appointment on my iPhone and synch to iCal, the appointment doesn't show up in month or week view unless I click on the particular day of the appointment. In other words, the new appointment is actually synched to iCal but I can't see that it's on the calendar unless I click on the actual day view. Once I click on day view the appointment shows up on the week and month views. This is obviously a tough way to manage a calendar if I can't see if future events are actually on the calendar without clicking into day view. Anyone know of a way to auto-refresh all of the views at once?

There have been various issue over the last few years with iCal and DST.
The Brazilian timezone had a lot of complaints previously. Moving to the Argentinian timezone, which had the same times fixed it. Is there another timezone that has the same changes as yours that you could switch to?
Also, this is a user to user forum. By posting here you are not guaranteed someone from Apple will read it. If you'd like Apple to know about this problem I suggest you send them feedback.
    Best wishes

  • I don't know why my iCal won't accept my Google password for syncing purposes.  I just updated the password last night. It says this: "The password may have entered is incorrect"

My ICal, keeps saying: "The password may have been entered incorrectly. Reenter the password for account “Google” on the CalDAV server “calendar.google.com.”

    Greetings Joe,
What version of the Mac OS are you running (Apple > About this Mac)?
    Try:
Go to iCal > Preferences > Accounts and remove all unneeded accounts especially Gmail / Google.
Go to iCal > Quit iCal
Go to Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > Keychain Access
Use the search bar to locate anything called "calendar.google.com" and then delete it.
Go to Keychain Access > Keychain FirstAid > Repair
Once complete go to Keychain Access > Quit Keychain Access
    Restart the computer.
Go to iCal > Preferences > Accounts and re-enter your Google account.
    Hope that helps!
